This was my first time eating at this Colada Shop location and the experience left me disappointed. I ordered the ropa vieja sliders, tostones, and a bottle of water. The wait time for my order was 26 minutes, which was too long! One of the employees offered me a complimentary mango iced tea when I inquired about the status of my order. He apologized for the delay, saying they had received a number of orders at the same time. The tostones were delicious. I wish they had served these first instead of waiting for the ropa vieja sliders. The ropa vieja sliders lacked flavor and weren't hot enough. The water tasted like tap water, which made me appreciate the iced tea.

This is a great chain within the DMV that offers reasonable Latin inspired food items. In this location, and their other location in the Wharf, they have indoor and outdoor seating options. I like the convenience of the self-ordering and in-person options too. My food usually comes out in 5-10 minutes, which I cannot complain about really. Furthermore, their shop interior is cute. If you want Latino food that is easy and accessible within the DMV, I would recommend going here

We ordered the Cuban sandwich and veggie Cuban sandwich with spinach and chorizo empanadas. I'd say the empanadas were awesome and the sandwiches were decent. The green sauce added a lot of flavor. Portions were large. It wasn't the best sandwich I've ever had for the price but it was decent and filling.

Stopped in for a little snack while out shopping and had to get some empanadas, tostones, and parcha! The trifecta of snacks. And all really good at Colada. Plus the outdoor seating made for fun people watching so win-win.

Super cute cafe that came highly recommended by a DC local! I ordered the Cafe Con Leche (hot) and asked for it "quarter sweet"--it was absolutely perfect and not at all overpowering. I also tried the breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, spinach, and aioli; it was delicious and clearly made with fresh ingredients. Next time, I'm definitely coming back to try their empanadas.

So glad we noticed this while walking back from a coffee run. I was just telling the hubs that with all the embassies in the area, there should be at least one great international coffee around -- there are many great latte places but I was looking for something that would kick me right over the traffic and land straight in the middle of the mall. So I ordered their CORTADITO at half sweet and for the first time in my whole week in DC, had a full caffeine fix. The PICADILLO EMPANADA is ground beef that was well seasoned hugged by deep fried fluffy pastry. Yummy. The BACON EGG EMPANADA was also very delicious. They both came with a dipping sauce that was delicious but I can't tell you what it is. Not because I don't want to but because I don't know what it is. If I had to guess, and I avoid this coz I once got an "are you stupid" message from a fellow yelper, it's some sort of garlic-herb aioli, but it was creamier than that... Lots of indoor space and they have even more garden/outdoor space. Check out the rooftop garden!

My fiancé was craving some Cuban coffee so we came here after getting brunch nearby. I loved how big this place was. It was too cold to sit outside on our visit, but they had a rooftop with lots of seating and a tons out front too. There were three different rooms with indoor seating. The upstairs has two gender neutral bathrooms that you need a door code for. We came here to start talking about wedding planning. We had thought it'd be an intimate spot since there were so many different rooms, but it was a bit busier than we expected. We still got a nice seat at a booth by a window near where you order. I got a nice latte with dulce de leche and my fiancé ordered the cafe cubano. I loved that they had a level called Miami sweet. I'd recommend this spot.

This is my new place when visiting DC. I found this location on Yelp after searching for a place to get a cafe con leche. I wanted to start my birthday off with one of my favorite drinks. After reading reviews, I set out to visit the Colada Shop. The exterior and interior of the shop are inviting with warm colors and multiple seating options. I immediately ordered a Cafe con Leche, Cheese and Guava Pastelitos and Ham Croquetas. Everything was delicious + the customer service was great. I wish I lived closer to this location because I would be here multiple times a week. Colada Shop is a must visit when you are in Washington DC.

One of my coworkers loves this place and told a few of us to try it for lunch. We ordered the chicken empanada, spinach and cheese empanada, ham croqueta, ropa vieja sliders, and a couple pastelitos. We didn't get to eat the pastelitos since we were so full, but the empanadas were good and so was the croqueta. But I was less than impressed by the sliders. It looked like regular pulled pork with no sauce...disappointing. But I'd come back to try some of their treats instead of the food. We did pickup, so our food was ready when we got there but we walked to the rooftop just to see the vibe. It's pretty! Lots of outdoor seating and an upstairs bar. Seems like a cute spot to hang out in. Walking here is probably your best bet as parallel parking is a lost cause.

Perfect spot to catch up with a friend. You can order ahead, order online in person, or order at the register which is super accommodating for schedules/personal preferences. The empanadas are delicious and there's a good variety of menu options. Minimalist rooftop seating and bar inside. Nice go to on 14the street.

Some friends and I stopped by this weekend to enjoy the great weather. We were seeking out a rooftop in particular, so I'm glad there was some space at Colada Shop's rooftop! There's about 5-6 small 2-3 person tables under a cover and more casual seating without sun/rain cover. You order via QR code and it gets delivered to your seat. Since service is almost non-existent (but all the employees seem nice if you interact with them), it's hard to judge how long people will hang out if you're waiting for a spot outside/on the rooftop. Sometimes they bring out the incorrect order (empanada wise) but luckily all the empanadas are good so I can't complain! Always a good stop along 14th street! Looking forward to our next visit.

Went here for brunch with a friend on Sunday morning. We sat in the back area which was super cozy and ordered from the QR code, and they brought over our food. The cafe con leche (I got 25% sweetness) and Cuban sandwich were both delicious and fresh. The line for coffee to-go got super long around noon, but there was still seating for dine-in in the back area and the upstairs patio.

This is a really nice, cozy Cuban cafe around the corner from Trader Joe's. I ordered a Cuban sandwich ($16), which was delicious, filled with ham, pork, and doused in a mustard that was much tastier than it had any business being. The sandwich was just well-executed. My favorite part, surprisingly enough, was the temperature. The sandwich was hot, not scorching, but warm enough to encourage rapid and immediate consumption. You can enjoy your food on the patio just outside the front door, or the rooftop up the stairs (I recommend the roof). This is a great place for whenever you're craving a Cuban snack.

It's a basement bar with a bit of a dive vibe, but it's hard to ignore the nautical, blue crab theme throughout. For $45 per person, the all-you-can-eat experience feels like a really solid deal considering how many protein options and side dishes you get. They start you off with a variety of banchan (side dishes), including a salad with this super tasty dressing that had the perfect little spicy kick. For the BBQ, we kicked things off with the spicy bulgogi and butter garlic shrimp, while the others tried the pork belly (I don't eat pork). Later we ordered the steak, spicy brisket, and grilled squid, which were all delicious. The spicy brisket especially was a standout for me. The guys also ordered two rounds of fried dumplings that looked amazing, but since they contain pork, I had to sit those out. I'd love to see Chadol add a veggie dumpling option to the menu! As for the sides, the kimchi and cold glass noodles were both hits at our table, and of course we all added white rice. The "mashed potatoes" though? Definitely more like potato salad and unfortunately very bland. On the other hand, the cheese corn costs extra but is 1000% worth adding. For drinks, the guys enjoyed the Woody Old Fashioned while I had a mezcal margarita-style cocktail that was smoky and refreshing. We also ordered one of the chicken options but never received it and eventually just gave up on it. One of the coolest parts of the experience is the ordering system. Most meats are ordered directly from a machine at your table, and the food comes out quickly on this conveyor belt-style setup which was honestly so fun. Drinks and side dishes are ordered through the servers. The atmosphere was lively and energetic without feeling overwhelming. The restaurant is actually much larger inside than I expected, with a modern setup that works well for smaller groups. That said, I didn't really notice tables for larger parties, so I'm not sure how they accommodate groups bigger than 6 people. Service started off a little rough because our server wasn't very attentive, but after I called it out, he definitely stepped it up and things improved. Overall, Chadol was a really good experience and absolutely worth the price. The 1.5-hour seating limit makes sense too, both to keep things moving and give others a chance to enjoy the experience. I'd definitely go back!
