Ok this place is FUN! I went on a whim and was able to get a table for 1 for an hour before the next group came in. Luckily the menu isn't huge, so it was pretty easy to pick what I wanted and make the time work. The decor is so cool! The had a ton of fake plants and lemons outside and it was a great vibe. It was like 95 out which is WAY too hot for me, but the outdoor patio had a ton of fans, including one blowing directly on me, so I actually thought it was lovely. I started with a cucumber drink that was fun and unusual. I also got the crispy artichokes which were flavorful and great, but definitely a dish to share and not eat alone. For my main, I did the lobster risotto. SO GOOD! It's very rich and again, wish I would have shared with someone. The servers were great- it was a super busy night and they all helped and supported each other well so that nobody was left hanging. Would love to return! read more

I got the: - Cauliflower nuggets (smoked onion Parmesan dip, pickled shishito peppers, za'atar, honey): Overall, I enjoyed this appetizer. The portion size was surprisingly large, the cauliflower crunchy, nice contrast from the picked peppers and creamy dip. Only thing is the dip was sweeter than I expected. - Lemon risotto (lemon gremolata, sautéed arugula, pomegranate seeds, brown butter, Parmesan): Tbh I'm not a fan of lemon-forward dishes, but this was the only vegetarian option. I appreciated that the arugula and pomegranate cut through the citrus a little. - Basque cheesecake (passion fruit sauce, ras el hanout): Loved this! I'm already a big passion fruit girlie, but the cheesecake was creamy and pleasantly spiced. Ofc, we made a reservation for the famed covered patio. I was so looking forward to treating myself to good pasta for dinner, and I was thoroughly disappointed. I perused their Instagram beforehand and was drawn in by big, heaping plates of pasta with a generous helping of Parmesan. Reality did not match what was advertised. A small portion of pasta was plated on only one side of the dish, leaving half completely bare. This cost $21 and it tasted just fine. If you're going to overprice an underwhelming portion, at least plate it better. Put it in the middle. Add some garlic bread or salad on the right. Offer me some fresh Parmesan. We had a group of 8 on their covered patio, and the service was slow and forgetful. The waiter brought the wrong drink, and then charged us for it. He kept forgetting to bring my friend's drinks. The water was warm, and my $18 Kiwi cocktail was warm. The only salvage was the good DJ. Overall, this was a disappointing and overpriced experienced. read more

I have been looking forward to visiting Resident and decided to stop by after work. The Hostesses let me know that Happy Hour was still happening however I opted for the regular menu before there were items that I wanted to try. The food was just okay. I am not sure if it was HH but my food came out cold, like it was sitting for a while. It was more salty than flavorful. I can't comment on the drinks as I only had food. The atmosphere is very cute and I think it's a good place to meet up. I was informed that the spring menu is leaving soon and maybe I will try again when the summer menu drops. I came here for restaurant week dinner and it was a good time! There was a scheduling mishap where they canceled my Monday reservation for some reason, but I was able to get rescheduled. I sat on the patio which was summer lemon themed and super cute! The bench is super comfy with lots of pillows and I appreciated the table lamp so I could read my book! I had the cucumber cocktail which was really refreshing; I was on the fence about ordering a $17 cocktail but it was quite a large glass actually. I started with the croquettes which were really nice, crispy outsides and warm cheesy insides! I was really excited about the lobster risotto and it was really good with a generous portion of lobster on top and mixed through as well. I ended with the fudge brownie with caramel and banana chips which was alright. My server was great, but my food wasn't coursed out very well and had my entree delivered while I was still on my app and same with my dessert. We got the prefix menu which includes a smaller portion of an appetizer followed by an entree (FYI Steak and Eggs is an extra $12). Service was great overall, though it took a while for our server to come check on us for our check. This place has the best Avocado Toast hands down, and this is coming from someone who doesn't care for Avocado Toast. The blueberry scones were warm and moist inside, so delicious. I had ordered a "Maker's Old Fashion which was excellent. So good I ordered a second. The charge for both was $96! The is $48 a piece! For a routine Maker's old fashion! Ordered the bottle of cava ($45 or $13 per glass) which was nice and dry and not at all sour/acidic. We also enjoyed the burrata dish, which came with peas, snapped peas, and green beans and strawberries. I'm used to a summer burrata salad but this was very refreshing and very nice. I have dined at this Dupont Circle gem on multiple occasions. I really love the outdoor heated patio. The decor is beautiful, and I love that they alternate the decor throughout the seasons. Visited for my best friend's birthday and we had such a great time. The atmosphere: The heated patio is decorated beautifully for the season. They usually have cherry blossoms in the spring and orange leaf branches in the fall. The space is on the smaller side, so I would recommend making a reservation. There is also a live DJ at night which adds to the vibe. The food: We started with the Beef Tartare and Mini Gyros to share, and both were very fresh and delicious. For mains, we chose a few plates to share around the table. The Lamb Ragu Tagliatelle was hearty with very flavorful, generous pieces of lamb. Residents Cafe & Bar is for the girls!! Their covered outdoor patio is absolutely stunning. It seems like they change it seasonally. When we went, it was covered in oranges for a summer aesthetic. Their menu also had a list of summer special cocktails. If you want an aesthetically pleasing spot to meet up with friends, this is the place. Not only does everything looks cute, it tastes great too! They have amazing cocktails and food. I met up with my best friend here. We both ordered the pink coconut cocktail. It was super refreshing and a great late summer drink. We family-styled four dishes. We got the artichoke hearts, calamari, pork belly, and gyros. Everything was super delicious and had me wanting to lick the plate after. We stayed our full two hour reservation and were told we needed to give back the table by 8pm for another party. It's a beautiful portion of the restaurant where you can escape the DC heat but still get some sunshine. The decor is very aesthetic with flowers and fake lemons surrounding the patrons. Went here for brunch last week and it was so cute! Lots of couples and ladies' brunch parties happening on the patio. Our server was good but very lowkey and we had to wave her over a couple of times but generally service was very good. Hubby had a regular dip coffee ($5!) and the smashed avocado toast with egg. We visited for Valentine's Day! Our first visit to this restaurant. What we liked. The cocktails were absolutely amazing. The bartender was friendly and on these cocktails you get what you pay for. We decided to do the Valentines menu. It was delicious! The Wagyu steak and potatoes were outstanding! The mushroom and truffle risotto was really good, maybe a little under salted for my liking, but otherwise great. The fig pastry as an appetizer was a stand out! The star of the show may have been the passionfruit cheesecake! The best cheesecake I've ever eaten! That's impressive! A couple of things that could've been improved. We sat in the bar area and our service was just OK. Not what I would expect for a meal of that price point. Did not like having an extra 4% fee on a $300 meal. Residents Café was not what I expected. For a Michelin restaurant, I was surprised how very casual both the staff and the restaurant itself were. Is Residents going for a Bohemian feel? Be that as it may, I was a little surprised how rough and a little bit grimy the stairwell was to the restrooms. Nonetheless, the Valentine's Day menu food was the best. It was $49.99/person, which was a better deal than ordering a la carte. We had a reservation and were able to be seated nearly immediately (upstairs by the window), but there was some confusion at the host stand. At least three staffers showed up to ask us about our reservations. JP ordered a gin martini. It was excellent, but we wish the martini glass had thicker walls to keep the drink colder longer. I ordered coffee. It took a while to get to my table and when it got there it was only luke warm. Our server told me their coffee was Americano espresso. It tasted like instant coffee. Even though I asked for cream, they didn't provide me with spoon. To my server's credit when I remarked that the coffee was not hot, she replaced my coffee with a better and hotter batch. We loved the amuse bouche which was a goat cheese cannoli. For appetizers, we had the foie gras mousse and the oxtail croquettes. They were delicious. This was my first experience with foie gras (duck liver) and I quite liked. We both had the Steak Au Poivre as our entrees. Best hanger steak ever. The sauce that came with the steak was just amazing. And the pomme robuchon (mashed potatoes), adorned with bits of chive, were outstanding. I wonder how much butter and cream they used to make them so good! The excellent dessert was a cake/biscuit-like wedge topped with a raspberry sauce and crumbled pistachio. Yet, it was odd that we were provided large soup spoons to eat the dessert. But all in all, an enjoyable dinner. read more

An amazing dining experience. Great craft cocktails, incredible food, and a fun atmosphere. One of the most interesting aspects of the restaurant is how you can't possibly put a finger on the origin of the fare. We asked our friendly waiter, and they stated the chef was from Spain, but they had schnitzel on the menu right next to lamb meatballs, and octopus. It was middle-eastern, Mediterranean, American, and anything else you could imagine. Also, amazingly, the menu was small, and, in my opinion, this is the mark of a great restaurant. Give me a menu where I want EVERYTHING on the menu. Make me regret filling up on the spectacular lamb shank and not have any room left for the 3 things I couldn't possibly try without returning. We had an amazing time. The bar is lively and, if you're dining in the "outside" portion, do not fear the cold. The patio is encapsulated in glass and the heat lamps are turbo-charged. It's difficult to stand out for amazing food in Dupont Circle, with the literally dozens of top-notch choices, and constant emergence of new possibilities. Go to Residents. As many of the other reviews capture, this is a very vibey place, something they clearly pay a lot of attention to. My wife and I appreciated how cozy they kept the enclosed patio in February, including the throw blankets. It was a cold and rainy night when we visited, and we surely noticed when the front door opened. We started with the spanakopita and pork belly and then split the beef burger. The spanakopita was my favorite. Everything else met expectations. We noticed there was a decent-sized difference between their online menu and what was available in the restaurant that night. I came here with a party of 5 for Saturday brunch. We were running a bit late on our reservation due to the high traffic volumes from the Cherry Blossom Festival. Last call for their brunch was at 2:45 PM. Fortunately, we had looked at the menu prior and knew what we wanted. When we were sat in their covered patio, we placed our orders. Ambiance was really nice. They had decorated for the theme of the cherry blossoms and spring. DRINKS: I got their Seasonal Cocktail, the Sakura Spritz ($22), which had yuzu liqueor, sakura vermouth, Japanese vodka, cherry and topped with champagne. It was not overly sweet, but very light and refreshing. They even threw in a little sprig of cherry blossom for garnish, which I thought was cute. FOOD: French Toast Bites ($12): small brioche French toast bites, with a side of dulce de leche sauce. There was barely any coconut and I did not get any brazil nuts, so that was a disappoint and unexpected. Smashed Avocado Toast ($17): the tomato escabeche provided good acidity from the pickling if only there added more - there was literally one cherry tomato per slice. The pomegranate added texture and notes of sweetness. Strawberry Pancakes ($18): comes with a strawberry compote, vanilla custard, and toasted almonds. While they were generous with the almonds. This dish was a complete disappoint however. My pregnant friend received raw pancakes that were still completely mushy inside, which leads me to the service.... SERVICE: Our server, Sierra C., barely came to check on our table. In fact, she frequented the table sitting behind us and not ours. I had to flag her down and when my friend mentioned that her pancakes were raw and that she was pregnant, she asked "You are what?!" in a rude way. She offered no sympathy towards the mishap and just took the dish back. Not only that, when we were seated, there was only two sets of utensils for our party of 5. My other friend had to wait a while to get utensils to eat her French toast bites. My French toast bites came with a small fork, but hers did not. The manager, Josue, came to our table and really accommodated us on the multiple incidences and disservice. I felt like there was a lack of respect and attentiveness from our server.
