This Inn is going to change your life. Months ago, all I wanted to do is book a cozy, romantic, farm B&B on our first-time New England escape. (which the Inn certainly delivered) But now...I can't stop thinking about the powerful reality of farm-to-table living and Jackie's insistence that we finally pick up and read The Omnivore's Dilemma on the nightstand in every guest room. The many awards and accolades this place continuously receives year after year speaks for itself. Let me tell you about our experience: We booked the Mustard Room and since Jackie had other rooms available, she upgraded us to stay in the Rose Room. Bonus. The bed was fit for a king and after a long drive we snoozed until the wee hours enjoying pure luxury. If only we could have spent more time exploring the rooms which were decorated with rich detail. Have fun playing board games in the front room or pick up a cozy book in the library room. The bathroom feels like a spa and the sunroom is where you need to spend your time. Better yet...get outside and explore the grounds! Learn how to build your own compost, collect eggs, pick vegetables, play with the animals and so much more. Lola just comes out and gives lots of love :) The 3-course candlelight breakfast was delicious! On how many occasions have you enjoyed a beautiful flower with your meal as you chat with the cook about how many more blooms you should eat for a balanced meal? My first popover was steamy and tasty. Too bad I filled up on the complimentary cookies in the pantry that I couldn't eat more. But you know what? These cookies were the number one recipe in town. No, really. They won the local contest for best cookie. I think I ate like 10 cookies in one hour. You have to stock up on the town's NUMBER ONE cookie!! No shame! But the food really is incredible. All straight from the farm. All organic, all sustainable. The partnership with local farms and shops is inspiring. Jackie gave us great tips on things to do in town and the best way to enjoy hot cocoa at Burdick's. (half and half). Probably the best tips she gave us were life-changing and inspiring for our future farm to table efforts. One day, Jackie! One day! You really need to stay here and taken an apprenticeship on sustainable farming. I still find myself wondering how much Coco and Lola have grown (friendliest goats in the world). This was a favorite stop that we will come to again. The inn is also a working farm. The beds are clean and comfortable. There is a place for a before dinner or after breakfast walk that is clearly marked n the woods behind the inn. After the very filling breakfast you will need to take that walk. Everything was picture perfect and our host even left out fresh baked cookies for snacking. read more

I booked the Inn at Valley Farms (the main inn plus the two cottages) for my extended family to stay in during my wedding weekend. I can't say enough about Jackie and her staff. She went above and beyond for me in so many ways. First - my brother (a self-professed TV addict) was concerned about not having a TV in his room (he stayed Thursday-Sunday night). By the end of the trip, he and his girlfriend said they are never staying at another chain hotel now knowing what an amazing B&B can offer. The peace, quiet and tranquility - plus the amazing farm-style breakfast each morning - was top notch. Jackie opened up the Inn and allowed us to stage our wedding portraits there. We have gotten some amazing photos out in the barn, overlooking the mountains and even a few with the beautiful barn cats that roam the outdoors. Not only that, but she was the first to jump in her car to track down our elusive horse and carriage, to help my sister scrub her bridesmaids dress after a "soap incident" in the bathroom and to cart people up to the ceremony site in her van. What a wonderful place! We discovered the Inn at Valley Farms a few years ago for an anniversary getaway and were eager to return, which we did recently for our 28th anniversary. Everything we'd experienced earlier was present in abundance this time, too: marvelous breakfasts, an extraordinary setting, a wonderfully friendly and helpful owner who guided us toward exactly the kind of outings we'd come for. In addition, we were delighted by two unexpected touches: on our arrival, we'd been upgraded to the lovely Garden Suite, where we'd stayed earlier. And, when the owner learned it was our anniversary and heard me admire her amazing peonies, she gave us the most beautiful bouquet of peonies I've ever seen. Located in southwest NH, this is an operating farm and bed and breakfast that will keep you coming back again and again. It's perfect for a romantic getaway or just to get a break from stress at work. Jacqueline, the inn keeper, is personable, kind and an interesting person to talk to. My husband and I came here first three years ago and just fell in love with the place. Now, we go every year during the fall and it is a highlight of our year. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. Every morning, Jackie serves up a breakfast with most ingredients straight from the farm. You have many options of things to do in that area and if you don't mind driving a bit you have a whole new world to discover. We usually use the inn as our home base and then go on day trips from there. But even if you want to stay local there is a lot to see. My personal highlight was spending an evening by the fireplace playing scrabble with my husband. If you're looking for a place with true tranquility and don't mind not having an indoor pool, spa or gym this is definitely your place! Check out the goats, too, you get to hang out with them if you want to. They also offer cottages if you have kids. read more

We went up to New Hampshire to visit family friends for a long weekend in May, but our stay an the Inn was a real highlight of the trip. The working farm is an inspiring model of sustainable, community-oriented agriculture; if you have a chance to take the farm tour, I highly recommend it. We ate farm fresh eggs and baked goods for breakfast in the mornings, and I had the best night's sleep I've had in months in the cozy comfy accommodations. I'm writing this review from the perspective of a bride who got married at Alyson's Orchard next door. The Inn was suggested as additional lodging, which we needed because we have big families. We planned to rent all three suites, both cottages and the farm house. We had one bad experience after another with the owner, Jackie. She was incredibly rude on multiple occasions. The whole time I got the impression that she is jealous mentioning more than once that "They do weddings too" (but can only accommodate like 70 people.) I would never recommend staying here unless you want to put up with an unprofessional, self centered owner. I'm convinced they must only stay in business because of weddings at the Orchard. First I called to ask if we could set up a time to see the lodging, so we could determine which cottages could accommodate which family members. They rarely answer the phone and we had to call multiple times. When we did finally get a hold of the owner she seemed very annoyed like we were inconveniencing her. She made comments about being busy to set up a time to meet. Umm, you're running a business! We finally got her to agree on a time. I mentioned that I was considering staying at the Inn on my wedding eve, and she informed me there would be over $100 extra charge if the bride stayed because "there would be more people coming and going, and they would use more toilet paper and stuff." All set with that. We asked if there was a crib on site, because one of the couples staying has a young baby. She again gave us an attitude and all but told us the baby couldn't stay! Saying they don't usually allow babies, because it may disturb the other guests. The other guests were our family and were well aware a baby was staying. I'm assuming to avoid a discrimination issue, she conceded. On a positive note, I will say the grounds were country cute and rooms quaint, but nothing mind blowing. The cottages are very small for the number of people they say they can accommodate. We proceeded to reserve all the rooms for our wedding weekend. We offered a deposit, which Jackie declined and said to just have each individual call to book the rooms once we decided who was staying where. This was about 10 month before the wedding. Fast forward about 6 months. Half of the property was already booked by our family, and I started getting rude phone calls from an annoyed Jackie, saying she needed to know who was staying in what rooms. I informed her which family members would be staying in which of the remaining rooms. I again offered a deposit to cover the rooms, she again declined. We would have been happy to pay for the rooms up front and have people reimburse us to avoid her crap. It only got worse from there. A few weeks later all the rooms and cottages were fully booked except one, which I had already told her my Father would be taking. He was away for the summer, and simply had not had time to call and finish the booking. She called me EXTREMELY rudely saying "you're not the only wedding in town." and hat we needed to get this finalized because other people wanted the room. We reserved this months ago, and she declined a deposit! I was irate, and almost cancelled the entire reservation! We have the entire property rented and she gives an attitude like that. If you don't like dealing with people don't run a bed and breakfast. Not wanting her to be even ruder to my guests, I avoided her until the wedding so I didn't end up giving her a piece of my mind. Members of my family who stayed at the Inn said that the the gardens were lovely. The breakfast served was tasty and fresh. However, while they were having pleasant breakfast conversation amongst themselves, trying to enjoy some quality family time, Jackie kept coming in and interrupting. Talking about herself, her business, and how hard it is to run a business. They were thoroughly annoyed, but were too polite to ask her to be left along. Jackie also snapped at my step-sister when she arrived for breakfast. She looked at my step mom and angrily asked "Who is that?" My step mom informed her it was her daughter, and that she was a paying guest at the Inn. Terrible customer service from start to finish! read more

I eloped here last weekend, October 4, 2015. We stayed in the Farmhouse, and had relatives stay in the area (a couple at the inn, several in the Farmhouse). We had an absolutely phenomenal time. The leaves were just on the cusp of changing, and the scenery was absolutely picturesque. The relatives who stayed in the B&B said the room and breakfast were awesome, and they loved going to the apple orchard across the street the day before the wedding. Walpole is a perfect little New Hampshire town. The Farmhouse had plenty of necessities to cook our own meals. I'm not the most descriptive, but I'll say it was a perfect experience and that I heartily recommend it to anyone. The innkeeper Jackie organized everything for us, including an officiant, the location, and a photographer, in less than 2 weeks. We had a blast and couldn't be happier. read more

We stayed overnight here because we were attending a wedding at Alysons Orchard. We had a wonderful experience. While dressing my husband realized he forgot his belt at home. My son was married at the Farm last weekend and it was absolutely beautiful. From the ceremony to the reception to the Farmhouse my family stayed in...it was magical!! Jackie at the Inn was so helpful and hospitable and her brother Chris and wife, Kaitlin (and sons!) at the Farmhouse were equally as hospitable, welcoming and helpful! Magnificent views, clean lodging, beautiful grounds....just can't say enough! Before we left Sam and Henry helped us out at the organic store and we went home with a cooler full organic meats! I still can't get over the movie theater set up in the barn where the kids went for movie night.....all I can say is Woohoo....as good as it gets! read more
