The ice cream here is usually pretty good, they always have a variety of flavors. Mannnn today I tried a flavor that I will not forget! Cookie Monster Caramel... my favorite one so far. I layered it with banana pudding on top. Then I walked the nearby boardwalk for an hour to try and walk some of it off . Service was fast and friendly. They also have toppings for an extra charge if that's your thing. The place is kind of small and there is minimal seating inside, but plenty of outdoor seating right outside on the covered porch or nearby boardwalk bench if you choose! read more

Saw a bunch of people coming out of here happily licking their ice cream cones so we followed in their example! Solid ice cream place serving Hershey's ice cream. The scoops are generous for the price (less than $3 for a huge single scoop) and they let you put 2-3 flavors even in one scoop! I almost wished I had shared my single scoop with a friend but it was very good so I was also glad not to! Our group loved the oatmeal cookie flavor which was very much like all the best parts of an oatmeal raisin cookie, and almost all of us got that flavor. I split my single scoop between the oatmeal and Cappuccino Chip which had large chocolate chunks in it! The scooper was also very nice and helpful and was happy to recommend flavors and let us take our time and try different flavors. Great ice cream spot for your beach day! read more

I was absolutely disgusted at mg experience here. I didn't really like an ice cream that I received. They told me I could taste it from the cup they had given me and if I didn't like it they would dump it back into the rest of the ice cream tub they got it from. When I asked her to repeat herself she did and I told her how nasty, especially during COVID, that was. She got loud with me and said how there was nothing wrong with that policy. I tried to explain how that was unsanitary and again she said there was nothing wrong with it if I hadn't physically touched the ice cream in the cup. Amazing and great local ice cream shop in North Beach. My brother and sister in law were visiting from Utah and they discovered the Cappuccino Crunch, delish. We had to go back a second time to make sure we got our fill of it before they left. They are still talking about it a month later. read more

There's not too much to compare to in the area but Cold Penguin still stands out. The ladies working here are always so friendly and every time I've gotten ice cream here they always make an effort to have a friendly conversation. It's a down home shop that's in a perfect spot for the boardwalk and beach goers. They don't have the gazillion flavors, but the ones they do are super delicious. The nice loungers out front on the deck on hot days is a nice way to enjoy your cone. So coming by here is all you really need to put a smile on your face. read more

The nice woman running this place had just closed the doors when our family thought "hey, lets get some ice cream!" We were all geared up to be disappointed but when we went up to the door to check the hours, she waved us all in! I got the coconut ice cream and followed my husband's lead and got 2 scoops thinking they would be like normal scoops...WRONG! They were HUGE scoops! I couldn't even come close to finishing it but I was in ice cream heaven. My family got a myriad of other flavors and they said they were all very good too. They have two cases of hand dipped Hershey's ice cream and also offer milkshakes, sundaes, and smoothies. I had a small cup of Outrageous Oatmeal Cookie which was cinnamon ice cream swirled with caramel, oatmeal cookie pieces and chocolate chips. It was really good! My hubby had some sort of brownie batter flavor as a milkshake. It turned out a little over milked...not thick at all...but he claim to like it that way. I think it's just because he's not one to complain. This little shop is located right off the North Beach boardwalk so it's a prime location to attract summer patrons. This is a little mom & pop establishment just off the boardwalk in North Beach. The ice cream is legit; on my visit, they had run out of cookies and cream (my go to), so I tried the oatmeal cookie. My only real complaint is that they do not do milkshakes. Your choices are pretty much limited to cone or cup. read more

It's so nice to have a good ice cream shop in town. We come here regularly. The shop carries Hershey's ice cream, which we think is even better than Baskin-Robins. I'm going by memory here, but I think this shop has about 24 flavors or so. The staff is primarily comprised high school kids--or maybe just out of school--so it's always patently obvious that there's somewhere else they'd rather be. (They aren't yet seasoned enough to fake it, as is generally required in the service industry.) So their little tip jar ends up a little neglected when we visit. But all in all this is a good little place to get ice cream. read more
