I got a history lesson on the town by a beautiful older lady that was born and raised in town and got some fishing spots and tips from her grandson. On our way to an Underground Gold Mine, there was an ice cream shop so cute and divine. In the city of Downieville of all places where peeps had friendly faces. The lady at Cold Rush was so sweet and jolly She let us have many samples - oh golly! All the flavors were so yummy! We shared two scoops - I'm no dummy! My friend and I stopped in for a drink on our way through town and it was one of the best decisions we've ever made. We were met by two of the loveliest people, who made our experience a 10/10. Therese made me the perfect cup of vanilla tea (I love that she set a timer so it didn't steep for too long and get bitter!) and David provided the best entertainment with his movie quotes and music. Excellent ice cream - they feature 3 different vendors which is very unusual for a small ice cream parlor. I had the delightful opportunity to try the Tillamook Vanilla and I would almost drive back, just to have this ice cream again - I'm an ice cream snob and this was ever better than Haagen Dazs! They also serve coffee, espresso and gourmet sandwiches and they're attached to a small gift shop with clothing and edible delicacies. read more

The store is cute with fun little things to browse and buy and the people were very nice bit might i suggest you don't sell coffee if you cannot make it at that time. Just say you don't have it. While in Downieville, you could not make a better choice. Went there for lunch one day, and was very pleasantly surprised. We had the tuna wrap, which was gourmet quality and an excellent grilled cheese panini. The service was super friendly, and they even threw in a free bad of chips.
