    King bed room
    Vanessa S.

I choose this hotel for two reasons: it's pet friendly and it's more like a hotel verses motel. The positives: Safe, convenient location Private parking lot (free) Clean, spacious, quiet room Comfortable bed Pet friendly The hotel is nearby many food options (nothing gourmet, but lots of choices). It is also right down the street from the Nugget Casino for anyone looking for activities/gaming. The negatives: All amenities are still closed due to COVID (Oct 2020) - not their fault. Breakfast given was a brown bag, to-go breakfast sack. NOTE: The pet fee is $30 for the first night (up to 2 pets) with $10 for each additional pet. After the first night, the pet fee is $10 per pet/per night. Could be a 5 star experience, but without any amenities or discount on the room ($180 total, including pet fee), it's just 4 stars.

We like to stay at HIE when we travel whenever possible. We don't travel a lot, so it's a treat. Now and then we stay overnight and book a suite just for fun. This was my husbands birthday trip. So we booked a jacuzzi suite and traveled an hour to Fallon. Wow! I'm impressed. Leave it to Fallon to out do Carson...And South Tahoe! Both indoor and outdoor pools. The layout is different than we've had before. The bedroom "living room" separations nice. The bedroom and jacuzzi/shower is all in very large room. Very spacious and comfortable. We want that in our dream home Literally the only thing I can say I wasn't happy with was the unwrapped tea bags. But, since I brought my own tea bags that didn't matter to me - but it might matter to someone else. Everything is clean, even the balcony and table. I could live here!

Bed Bugs! Moved to new room after first night and a discount offered for my stay. When checkout came, no discount given, general manager offered 15k points after 2 months of waiting for resolution. So lied to get me to stay, took my money, and gave me useless points. Not what you expect from a hotel, not a fan of blood from a parasite on my face when I wake up.

    Stained carpet

Outdated and in desperate need of remodeling. Carpets throughout hotel are old and stained (see picture of carpet in my room). Mattresses in my room were saggy and old. And to top it off, front desk was unfriendly.

Good bed nice free breakfast. All the employees were pleasant. There is a large shared parking area for truck and trailers.

I was passing through the small town of Fallon, Nevada along driving The Loneliest Road in America…read more I had read that this.....the Overland Hotel was a worthwhile stop for anyone interested in exploring Fallon. After getting my Loneliest Road Survival Guide stamped at the Fallon Convention Center, I thought....why not stop by the Overland Hotel and check it out! It's situated right on the corner of historic Maine Street. It can't be missed. On the roof of the place....it simply says...."Hotel"....lol, that's how "old school" this hotel appeared to be. Also, the entire exterior was painted brick red with a little white awning hanging from the 2nd floor. My initial thought was that this hotel was gonna be a real vintage throwback. And that's exactly how I'd describe the Overland Hotel. In all, it's a combined hotel, restaurant, bar, lounge and saloon all mixed into one iconic landmark. Entering inside....the whole vibe and feel certainly oozed of your typical "dive bar". A no frills, classic bar and saloon dedicated to the blue collar folks out there. I would also slightly describe the ambiance like an old western saloon.....yet I had seen a lot better cowboy saloons along my Loneliest Road journey....especially in playful Virginia City, Nevada. Regardless, I did sit down and grab a drink at the bar. Overall, it was nice, an okay/decent moment to stretch out my legs, relax and unwind after many hours on the road. I would assume the hotel is a vintage type of place to stay as well, blending into the whole "old fashioned" theme. For me, I was content to have had a chance to discover this Overland Hotel as a fine roadside stop in Fallon. For anyone else interested in checking out some other attractions in Fallon, I'd recommend passing by the Naval Air Station (supposedly home of the Top Gun Training facility). Also a few miles just east of town along The Loneliest Road was Sand Mountain Recreation Area.....a unique and desolate spot with land-piles of sand and hills to wander, roam around and explore upon.....similar to but not nearly as majestic as Great Sand Dunes National Park near Alamosa, Colorado.

Especially when you…read morefactor in the cleanliness of the room, the part of town you're staying at, the amenities that are offered, value, and overall condition. This takes me to the city of Fallon, the largest city in Churchill County which is roughly an hour east of Reno, Nevada. I came here on Labor Day weekend (Sept. 5/6, 2020) to visit family in the Reno/Sparks area. Much to my shock, I could not find one single hotel available anywhere in Reno! I get it that it is a holiday weekend but everything was absolutely booked. My speculation is that many people were going through "pandemic fatigue" (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) where everyone wanted to get out of the houses and venture out of town. Fortunately I was able to book my reservation on the evening of Sat 9/5/2020. Since I am a valued member of Choice Hotels, I was able to go on their app and book a one-night stay at "Comfort Inn". The price was a very decent $110. I was very relieved because if this place was not available, I would have to go further out to Lovelock or even Winnemucca. I arrived roughly at around 9:15pm and my initial check-in was a breeze. Parking was tricky to find since I arrived so late but I found a spot not too far from the hotel grounds. Once I was given my key-card, I was pleasantly surprised with my hotel room. There was an abundance of fresh linens, clean towels, a mini-refrigerator, a small coffee maker, hairdryer, safe, and a 32" HDTV. The Wi-Fi was also relatively quick and was efficient during my stay. Most importantly, the king size bed was comfortable while I was able to sleep peacefully during my stay. The exterior though is just average as the hallways looked like something out of the mid-1980's. This is also the case with the indoor pool/jacuzzi area (which were closed due to the pandemic) and the overall appearance. Keep in mind that this hotel is single-level which can be a deal-breaker for people that are handicapped. Overall, the "Comfort Inn" in Fallon, NV was an enjoyable stay especially when this is a very quiet city with few attractions. The women at the counter were helpful while my stay served its purpose. My rating, an above average four-stars.
