Be ready to pay $9 for a plain small scoop. Their ice cream is good, but not $9 good.

If you are in Deale Maryland and you want a great dinner, then you need to go to Skippers Pier…read more This place delivers great and fresh seafood in a nice clean dining room with very good service. It is not particularly fancy but - really - when you are sitting at the shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay, do you need white tablecloth fancy??? I sure don't. I just want great food and that is what I got at Skippers Pier. We both started with crab soup. My spouse had the cream of crab and I had the dynamic duo (half cream of crab and half Maryland crab soup). Delicious! Maybe a little salty but awfully good! My main course was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! A very large piece of pure solid rockfish covered in a beurre blanc (lemon) sauce and so much crab meat that I could have made an entire crab cake out of it. And all of this was sitting on top of 2 fried green tomatoes that served as the perfect foil to the luxurious seafood. Crispy and a bit tart. Beautifully balanced on my tongue! A real home run. My spouse had the crab cake dinner and it was huge. All backfin lump crab meat and perfectly seasoned! His onion rings were among the best we have ever had. Crispy on the outside and plenty of soft onion inside, without too much grease. Another home run! The dining room is huge, maybe too big, and the noise level is rather high. But the view of the Chesapeake was gorgeous. Our server, Gabby, was fast, smart, easy to talk to and very hard working. I would go back to this place in a heartbeat! I definitely recommend the Skippers Pier for a meal, any meal, anytime!

They have dinning room seating, bar seating (inside and pier side) and outdoor seating (pier side and on the roof of the pier bar). Plenty of space to accommodate large parties. I found this place because of the fried green tomatoes and they did not disappoint. The tomatoes were full of flavor and topped with some delicious shrimp salad. We ordered the chili orange crush wings. They were big!! The flavor kept me saying "these are REALLY good". For the main course I went with the snow crab steamer and a side of applewood bacon collard greens. First of all, I should have ordered two of the collards. I was finished before I knew I had started. They were cooked just right , gor me! The potatoes that come in the steamer met the same fate, buttered seasoned goodness. Service was friendly and fast. I can't wait to check this place out in the warmer weather. Hope I can find a parking spot :)

Every visit here makes me miss when this was an Arby's about 15 years ago…read more How do you have the audacity to close parts of the store for remodeling and then the only things which are different are the awning and the soda machine? There's now only 1 self-serve soda machine instead of 2, which only means that now there's only 1 machine to frustrate you when the sodas are out. The food is atrocious. I don't know how it is that bad so consistently, but every piece of bread of every variety here tastes like stale bread that was frozen and reheated. Prices are crazy, and the app is pretty much useless for any real savings there. Surly employees, and a bathroom that looks like it's not been touched since 2014! Avoid at all costs.

When you park, no matter where you park in this lot, you have to cross through the drive thru lane to get inside the dining room. I know you have to do this at just about any fast food location, but more so at this one. Like they have a cement divider/curb that separates the lane from the rest of the lot and you have to walk through it with the constant flow of vehicles. It is so odd, the inside of this location is well taken care of and newer looking. But it is obviously underused. The staff inside were fast and efficient. My order was correct. And even though they had a constant flow outside, they were fast with the service. I'm liking the turn back to the 80s here with the logo and crowns everywhere for the taking. Even with the newer interior it still feels like the Burger King of old.

I love that the employees are so engaging including the owners, Callie and Brad, who always stop by to check on patrons no matter how busy things are. I really appreciate this type of customer service. My last visit we tried the mulled wine which was really good. As they described it, it's "Christmas in a cup." I had to get my favorite wine, Lion's Share! I'm sad that they're closing up for the season soon. If you've never been, I believe this upcoming weekend (December 13th and 14th) is their final weekend so make a reservation if you want to go.

This place is nestled along the quiet waterfront in Deale, Maryland; it is one of those classic Chesapeake Bay gems that manages to balance small-town charm with a lively dockside spirit. You will always find fishermen swapping stories, families gathering after a day on the water, and visitors who came for the sunset and stayed for the crab cakes. The panoramic view of Rockhold Creek is breathtaking. The vibe is relaxed and local in the best possible way: nautical flags, weathered wood, and a bar that feels as though it's been a gathering place for generations. In warm weather, the outdoor deck fills quickly, offering the ultimate place to enjoy a cold beer and a platter of seafood as the sun dips into the bay. It was too cold for us; we hope to make it back here in the spring with warmer weather. The menu at Happy Harbor is rooted in Maryland tradition but isn't afraid to have a little fun. We started with the creamy Maryland crab dip; it is served bubbling hot with toasted baguette slices. It's rich without being cloying, anchored by sweet, fresh lumps of crabmeat that remind you how close you are to the source. Next, we had the steamed blue crabs. Steamed to order, they arrived fragrant, steaming, and perfectly seasoned--the hallmark of a place that knows its craft. My wife went with the grilled rockfish sandwich--local to the Bay and cooked to perfection--which arrived simply dressed with lettuce, tomato, and a smear of house-made tartar sauce on a soft brioche roll. It's the kind of straightforward, fresh preparation that showcases confidence rather than flash. I went with the Captain's Combination Platter, a local favorite, offering a sampler of crispy fried shrimp, oysters, scallops, and a generous portion of hand-cut fries. It's hearty, unpretentious comfort food that's as much about the experience as the flavors. You can pair your meal with a craft beer from a regional brewery or a signature crush cocktail--the orange crush was my choice. As far as the service, Happy Harbor is friendly and efficient, with staff who genuinely seem to enjoy the rhythm of the place. Our server was engaging and quick with recommendations and even quicker with refills, striking just the right note between laid-back and attentive. Happy Harbor isn't chasing trends--it's celebrating tradition. It's a place where the seafood is fresh, the portions generous, and the mood somewhere between a family gathering and a dockside festival. Whether you're a local returning for your favorite crab dip or a traveler discovering the simplicity of a Maryland summer meal by the water, Happy Harbor delivers a quintessential Chesapeake experience.
