Let me just start by saying I love Cold Stone ice cream! I loved it so much that for years, I would treat myself to a "love it" once a week at the Cathedral City location. Then I moved to La Quinta and started going to the La Quinta Cold Stone. Unfortunately the young ladies behind the counter were not very friendly and most of the time when they handed me the ice cream, the cup is not even full. For the price I am paying for this ice cream, I would like to get a full cup. Also when I tried to use Cold Stone gift cards I had purchased at Costco, the girls told me that their machine couldn't read them. When I used the cards at the mall Cold Stone there was no problem at all and I was able to pay with them. This makes me think that the staff at the La Quinta store just didn't know how to input the gift cards or didn't want to do it. It has been about a year since I visited the La Quinta Cold Stone. Can't say enough about Cold Stone Creamery...the "Black Forest Cherry" is my all-time fave!! (Chocolate ice cream, brownies, cherries...YUMMY!). Cold Stone has every possible combination you can imagine to satiate your sweet tooth after dinner, before dinner, for breakfast (ok, not that last one...if you get this for breakfast we need to get you help!). BIG scoops so I recommend getting a small unless you want to be eating your ice cream for two days!! Great place to get birthday treats for the kids! Forget the cupcakes and cake pops, that's old news. Try this place for class treats and see if the kis don't love it. I just took a batch of ice cream to a fifth grade class and knocked their socks off. This Coldstone really knows what they're doing, they had 35 individual portions of ice cream - with the mix ins - all packed and up and ice cold (frozen), as well as the sprinkles and gummy bears for kids to pile on. I'd been dying to try Cold Stone but I'm perpetually on a diet, and it's infamous for being super high fatty fat. Enter the nephew...and add a touch of vacation and whammo...we're at Cold Stone. Oh looky, they have low-fat vanilla. So I had the smallest cup of that with jimmies and fudge mixed in (hello, I said I was on vacation). It was okay. Very sweet, and I couldn't even eat the whole thing even though I got the smallest size. The nephew got peppermint-deep chocolate (the blackest ice cream I've ever seen) with Heath Bar and Reese's Peanut Butter Cup mixed in. That should be illegal, right? Well he was on vacation too. The parents made that little cup last three days. It was actually kinda gross (peppermint and peanut butter, ewwww) but it made him, at 7 years old, pretty happy. A letter to the manager: Let me begin by saying that a trip to an ice cream shop should be nothing but a happy experience. Tonight I must say I was proven wrong. at 7pm I went to your store to find a line of people and only one employee. Before I continue I would like to say that there was a specific reason for my being there. I find that Cold Stone is like Macy's and Baskin Robbins is like Walmart. So if you understand that, the reason I was in your store was to purchase a gift card for someone who did a very nice thing for us. I wanted it to be even better than just a Baskin Robins card. With a Cold Stone gift card I just wanted it to say you did a really great job! Well that didn't happen. Besides having an inexperienced person behind the counter who had to ask his customer how to make the drink they ordered. Not to mention him disappearing in the back twice. So after waiting 20 min. in line, I asked for a gift card. After pretending to search for them he said you were out. I think he probably didn't know how to ring it up. So I asked for gift certificates and he came back at me that you were out. He had just sold a "whole bunch of them to some lady". So after waiting all that time and not getting what I wanted to thank my good friend and his family. I was so disappointed that I didn't even get my self my ice-cream. The only non excellent thing about this location is that they only have 2 small tables and a total of 4 chairs inside so its not great for groups especially not groups with kids but other then that cold stone is the best spot for ice cream.
