I've been trying to make it here for a beignet breakfast for over a year, and I finally did...and I was not disappointed! I came on a Sunday morning. It was cold out, but I still requested to sit outside. They were short a server and still graciously accommodated my request, which I truly appreciated. I ordered the beignets, a side of bacon, and orange juice. The beignets came in a set of four -- crisp on the outside and soft, pillowy yumminess on the inside. I skipped the syrup because honestly, they didn't need it. Anything extra would've taken away from how good they already were. And the bacon? Crispy to perfection. With tip, it came out to $38.02. I can't speak to the full menu since I only tried the beignets and bacon, but based on that alone, I would absolutely recommend this place. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. This is our third summer returning to this bakery for breakfast, and it continues to be one of our favorite stops in La Quinta. I previously gave this place a 5-star review. I retract it now, give it just 2 stars (1 seems harsh), and will never return after patronizing the bakery for years. The quality of bread for toast and sandwiches has declined. The pastry case is usually nearly empty. Service is slow. We ate there twice at night when it becomes Norma's, too. First time was quite good but the second tie was awful. There were 3 of us and all our plates were undercooked. I'm talking about one of us had a pizza with RAW dough. No apology from the server. I am beyond shocked and disappointed that I even have to write this review but it's fully necessary with how awful the restaurant is. I have been coming to LQ Baking company for over 10 years and today was the last time I will ever go there. The food was legitimately awful. So awful that I didn't even want to complain, I just wanted to get paid and get the f out of there. The fries have changed, the homemade jam they used to serve is no longer, the butter is packaged, the food was freezing cold, the potatoes were bricks, the gravy looked like murky water instead of gravy, the biscuit was burnt. the service was mid because they probably know how bad the food is also now. Everything was awful. Truly sad. This restaurant should be ashamed of itself. There is a 0% chance I will be trying their restaurant attached to the baking company either. Another example of new owners buying a popular restaurant and thinking they know how to do things better. If it's not broke, don't fix it. We were long time patrons and this was our go to. Pros: Food portions are larger Expanded menu with more traditional breakfast options Neutral: They kept the same wait staff. Nice to see the loyalty but the service was always very inconsistent and that hasn't changed. Cons: Food quality has gone downhill - meats cuts are cheaper No more mixed green salads - they switched to cheap iceberg Changed the fries. Too greasy. Not sure what's going on with their water filtration system but all of the drinks - from plain water, soda and ice tea all taste terrible. Like plastic. Unfortunately after 5 years of nearly weekly visits, we are done. We gave the new owners three chances. It's too expensive to keep going back for mediocre quality. read more

Takes a while for him to take out order and after waiting a while the server comes saying the ticket never printed and was jammed ... Like how was only our food ticket jammed but not everyone else's ? As usual service and the food was great, however, I was very disappointed in the Strawberry Crepes I also decided to have. The crepe itself was cooked perfectly, however, the two folded crepes arrived with 6 quarters of strawberries; that's less than 2 whole strawberries; and a small spritz of whipped cream. I was expecting rolled crepes filled with strawberries and whipped cream....kinda like an enchilada. I wanted to taste strawberries and cream in every bite. Well that Lady needed a place to meet up with her niece and family for a breakfast get together. We needed a point about halfway and as luck would have it LaQuinta Baking Company was found. And what a find it was. First, it is in a big strip center with easy access, so no parking problem. Both in door and outdoor seating. It has great bakery and pastries, plus a huge selection of breakfasts and more. There were six of us and they immediately arranged seating and had hot coffee in our hands, before that Lady could say coffee latte, They impressed us with their service and quality of food. If you like fresh Beignets and can't make it to New Orleans, well they have the real deal here. Neither the kids or adults had any complaints. You need to have someone who assigned to the counter to wait on the people buying the pastries and most importantly to people that sit down and have breakfast.
