Not pleasant at all (the waffle cone sent is one of the signature things about cold stone in my mine) The signs of a sloppy clean up job day after day have piled up and this place needs a deep clean. The ice cream itself was fine although $5.19 plus tax for the smallest size vanilla in a cup topped with 1 Reese's peanut butter cup is steep. There was only 1 person working so the line moved slowly. My teen and I had planned to eat-in but there are only 2 small tables with a total of 4 chairs in the whole shop, and a group in front of us claimed all 4 chairs. So instead of standing at the empty table we took our ice cream out into the cold, eek. The woman who prepared our ice cream and touched the toppings did have gloves on but then handled the register and money wearing the same gloves. I'm hopeful she changed gloves before starting the next order, but I'm not sure. I don't remember her putting on fresh gloves up make our order. This place would definitely be on the "absolutely never " list for my other food-allergic child who is allergic to peanuts, dairy and tree nuts and usually just gets a plain sorbet in a cup with fresh fruit topping at other ice cream parlors. The peanut butter cup ice cream mixture is prepared at Cold Stone on the same slab and I think the metal scoopers are re-used so 100% chance of cross-contamination it would appear. But, to be fair, I didn't inquire about their food allergy safety policy and procedures since I'd left my good-allergic kid at home. I'd recommend Brown Cow on Madison in Forest Park for a safer experience if there are any food allergy issues. They take cross-contamination seriously at Brown Cow. I probably won't come back to Cold Stone unless I have a coupon and it is warm enough to walk around outside as it is very expensive and there's no room to sit in this ice cream parlor. read more

Disgusting. Used to go here all the time years ago. Came to town and was excited to be nostalgic. What a let down. Bathrooms was out of order. Rap music was playing. Trash was thrown all over the floors and tables & the garbage can was over flowing. A light bulb was dangling from the ceiling. The woman who said she was taking our order only took 2 of ours (there were 3 of us) and then she disappeared. When we got to the register we had to let him know what we got because she was nowhere to be found. He accidentally charged us for 3 so then he had to refund me. Unfortunately he didn't know how, and neither did the other gentleman working. We had to wait for the woman who initially ditched us to emerge in order to get our refund. By the time we left none of us even wanted our melted ice cream because it was so dirty in there that we weren't comfortable consuming anything. My boyfriend and I came here for some stress-dessert indulgence. I got "The Pie Who Loved Me," but replaced the fudge with peanut butter. Ahhhh.... So so good. I loved that pie right back. My boyfriend got the peanut butter cup perfection in a waffle cone. And maybe it was just the drama and tension of the evening, who knows, but he couldn't finish it. I think he repeated over and over again for an hour afterwards that it was "too much ice cream," and that he was baffled about "how can they not have smaller sizes?" Fair point. But somehow, I'm ok with doing my part to ensure the American obesity epidemic continues. But at Cold Stone Creamery, they get it right. Surprisingly, Chicago shut down many of the stores only for the vacant spots to be replaced with frozen yogurt shops. What horror. What a crime. I had the Oreo Overload in a waffle cup. Pure happiness. And then a group of giggling teenagers who spoke with an excess of the filler work "like" entered and wasted fifteen minutes of ordering whatever ice cream they wanted. Nothing like taking your time enjoying some of the best store-bought ice cream in the Chicago metropolitan area and watching a long line form behind indecisive teenagers giggling and pontificating. But the service from behind the counter was still upstanding and that made Cold Stone that more of an inviting place. Chicago proper may be anti-Cold Stone. Oak Park isn't. This location is a tad small especially for the amount of customers and clients hell that this establishment draws I mean on foot traffic alone it seems like once they seen it a line forming than everyone wants to get in the line as well you can expect long lines slower service and being squeezed in really tight if you want to sit and enjoy your Creamery Tree on this particular day that I went I was able to get a Groupon and they were promoting their funnel cakes and you can get the funny funnel cakes made as a Sunday similar to the one that you would get at Six Flags but on a much smaller scale and takes a little while for the funnel cake to be popped in the oven I believe they have to hit in the oven but it was a hit with my family everyone enjoyed it you got your choice of ice cream whipped topping fruit it was really really good it was unexpectedly good Cold Stone is good so but that we were happy to see the funnel cake was were absolutely obsessed with hopefully we will see it back summer 2018 read more

My experience...I visited this location once before and the line was extremely long but I waited because the name precludes this particular location BUT....... My reason for posting is for my experience yesterday, Monday, October 12, 2015. I went into the location because my two telephone calls were not returned by Owners Sergio/Elizabeth Hernandez as promised. I called to inquire if this location would participate in a scavenger hunt planned for a group of 4th & 5th graders/ages 9 & 10. I called twice and left messages with Andrea and another unidentified female both times even explaining the purpose of the call. The location would not have to do anything but simply agree to participate or decline the offer. Upon entering, there was a family of 3 sitting at one of the 2 tables and I did not observe anyone behind the counter. I looked for a bell to ding and after awhile began to make noise to get someone to come to the front. A woman appeared and I don't recall if she made introductions or not but I do recall her being rude and unprofessional and I told her so. This woman said her name was Lucy and identified herself as the Manager. I initially asked for Sergio or Elizabeth Hernandez as I was told either of them would return my call and I assumed the only ones who could make a decision on my inquiry. Lucy told me if I had not gotten a call back it was probably because they were not interested. We went back and forth about her unprofessionalism. I am sure once I left the paper where she wrote my information down went into the garbage. Lucy has a bad attitude and has lost my business! I am giving this 3 stars because the ice cream looked melted and honestly just weird. The vanilla and chocolate were the only normal looking ice creams so we got those w the cookie dough and brownie. I will say they were great. The other ice cream was still questionable though which is bizarre to me in an ice cream shop. Your employee, Ellie, was great and deserves a raise.
