We love Gyumon and are so happy for an AYCE bbq so close to home! It's also conveniently located near the Oak Park train station so it's super easy for visitors to come out to try it! Paid parking is super easy nearby, too. You get $10 off your package at lunch, which is super convenient. We like to do the middle package which has all of our favorites. Everything is ordered via iPad so it's really easy to put in what you want and see all of the options. Super fun unique thing -- they do s'mores for dessert if you'd like! We always leave feeling very full haha. We love the variety of foods and meats here compared to other AYCE bbqs. There's enough to try a lot of things and not feel pigeon holes into one meat. Every standard appetizer you can think of and also sushi and handrolls are a nice touch! I always get at least two handrolls and the quality is always really good. The staff is really nice and explains the process well. They come around often to pick up empty plates. We've only been for lunch so it's not too busy and we've never had to wait. Came here with couple of my friends on a weekday for dinner. We came around 6pm and we were able to be seated right away. We made sure to be on their waitlist prior to arriving. Food: 9/10 There are 3 different tiers to choose from and the prices/items are different. So be mindful of that. We all did the diamond tier and omg everything was so delicious. We all really loved the toro of the wagyu. We also ordered couple of their hand rolls and nigiri. The spicy tuna hand roll was so good. We were kind of bumped they were out of certain desserts but we still were able to enjoy our dessert especially making a s'more. Couple of my friends liked sausage (grilled item) and the kaarage chicken but I personally didn't. You are able to order up to 10 items per order. Service: 9/10 Everyone was so kind and very attentive. They were all so quick with taking away the serving plates to make room for your next order. They didn't change our grill until we asked but we didn't mind that. Our time was up and we couldn't put in our dessert order so one of the employees was able to put it in for us which was very kind of her. Atmosphere: 7/10 It's a brand new restaurant and of course it's clean. They do have 2 private rooms for a bigger party and they also have booths in the middle of the restaurant. Personally, I felt the tables were a bit too small. Wished it was a tad bit spacious. The chairs are way too close to one another. I was sitting at the end of the table and I have to move to the side in order for my friend to be able to get out comfortably without pushing her chair back because we didn't want to bump into any employees bringing out food. Best AYCE worth every penny. Service was fast ordering off the tablet makes it convenient. Choices are very reasonable a little pricey but worth it.I have not encountered an AYCE that much choice and it is all delicious. Ambiance is ok it can be loud depends on who you are with . I'd say the place is fun for the experience but the food didn't blow me away. The meats were pretty good but the produce and shrimp were kind of off. I feel like the only thing you can add being salt & pepper makes it hard to really elevate the ingredients from just plain. The drinks were really good though & the wait staff was helpful but we needed them a lot because the wifi for the ipad you have to order from kept going out. The price point feels fair for how much food you can get but keep in mind the time limit. We were lucky to have a private room which gave a nice intimate vibe for my party. You can order up to 10 items every 5 minutes which is plentiful. $45/$55 tier. They do have a handful of Wagyu beef. Of course, the best Wagyu is 1 per person only. They have sides like rice and sushi, tempura, soup, bibimbap and so forth. Drink all you can canned drinks and sparkling water. They offer boba drinks separately. Their seat sits 4. Although they did squeeze 5 with our next door table. They had to put their clothes on my booth because of it. Which was fine. I offered since 3 of them are sitting together and it'd be hard to move. I did see another room on my way out that sits more people that looks like a couple tables. Idk if that's only for parties though. It's definitely a must try restaurant. "Different" Be prepared to be bombarded with rapid-paced food "drops" once you order. We couldn't keep up! It took us a while to understand how it all worked, despite telling our server that it was our first time there. Be prepared to cook meats at your table. We dined out in part to avoid cooking. Don't be prepared for a relaxing, casually paced dining experience. The food was, for the most part, delicious. It is a unique experience that many do and will enjoy. But, also be prepared for limited spice/condiment options (the salt and pepper are combined; what's up with that?) and an even more limited dessert selection. I ordered the only available ice cream, vanilla, that came in a small container with a wooden stick-spoon. When our server first approached us, we let her know that we were there to celebrate my birthday. I've never been to a restaurant where, knowing that, fails to recognize it somehow; perhaps even with a free vanilla ice cream In a small container that comes with a wooden spoon (it did taste good). Food wise it was not bad. I especially like the waygu filet mignon and the waygu short rib. I think price range is reasonable. Service can be better. For instance, if I'm paying you tip, I expect at least bring out water. My bigger dislike is the limit of 10 items order on the iPad which include soda drink and white rice. We can only submit 10 items at a time and cannot submit until 5 mins later. The only issue is if it's a big group like 6-8 ppl or even more, that's very annoying. Also, why is soda and rice be included in the items: that should be a waitress thing. I can see if there is 2 ppl then yea but a big group? Come on. Also please work on the customer service. Bring us some drinks like water and not. If we have to order on a device and cook our own food, then what's the tip for? read more

It's a bit overpriced, with no flexibility for dinner service (they should have the option of à la carte, but instead you must do the "all you can eat" fixed price options - they only offer à la carte menu for lunch. But my biggest disappointment is that this place is extremely noisy: they throw dishes in the back of the restaurant all the time, many times the trails go to the floor, and if you are sitting in the back you can even feel it in you back.
