Visiting from Hi and 2nd time eating at Vista village/ we stopped by Cold Stone creamery as the Picture of the Dubai chocolate on their window drew us in. The young man Fernando was very friendly and mixed it with careful preparation. He couldn't tell us what Katifi was but it didn't matter. The outcome was incredible! The taste of the chocolate & pistachios were amazing and the crunchy texture made us return a few days later. I went into the Cold Stone in Vista today and had a pretty concerning experience. I usually order the coffee ice cream, so I know what it's supposed to look like. When I got there, the coffee ice cream was the usual brown color, but the top layer of it was a light green. Coffee ice cream should not be green, so I asked the employee behind the counter about it. The employee just shrugged and said it was a "new batch" and that it had been in the refrigerator. That didn't really answer the question and honestly made it more concerning. A color change like that in ice cream isn't normal, and the lack of explanation or concern from the staff was a red flag. I ended up not ordering it because something clearly seemed off. I understand mistakes happen, but the way it was handled made me lose confidence in the quality and safety of the product at this location. I walk in and this guy is sweeping the floor, completely pushing dirt onto me as if I wasn't there. He doesn't greet me or say someone will help me shortly, he just keeps sweeping at my feet with his AirPods in. Then this bald fat 35-40 year old guy with a beard comes in from the back looking at me like he wants to strangle me and aggressively says, "can I help you?!" I came into this Cold Stone today around 2:30 pm. There was a group of kids in front of me ordering, so I waited behind them while looking at the flavors. After a minute or two, another customer walked in, said "excuse me," and went over to look at cakes. When the cashier finished helping the group ahead of me, instead of acknowledging me (who had clearly been next in line), he looked over at the other customer and said, "I'll take you right here," and began ringing them up. He never said anything to me. Not "I'll be right with you" or "I just need to handle this real quick." I was simply skipped and ignored. After standing there waiting with no acknowledgment at all, I decided to just leave. I understand mistakes happen, but it would've taken two seconds to recognize the next person in line. I had one of the worst customer service experiences today around 5pm. From the moment I walked in, the staff acted like I was inconveniencing them by simply being there. No greeting, no smile just eye rolls and heavy sighs while I tried to place a basic order.It felt incredibly dismissive and unprofessional. The store wasn't even busy, so there was no excuse for the attitude. The overall vibe was cold, unfriendly, and completely lacking any sense of customer care. I've been buying my ice cream cakes at Baskin Robbins for the past 4 years, but last night they didn't have the flavors I want it, so I went to Cold Stone and I wish I didn't. $42 for the smallest cake (definitely way smaller than Baskin Robbins) but whatever I needed to buy an ice cream cake so I take the cake out of the freezer and asked the not too friendly guy if they could write happy birthday in there? I mean the cake is tiny so I don't know.... To what he replied, sure, yeah we can write happy birthday, we only have 2 colors: red & green! I ordered a cake here and it was not quite what I expected to receive. I expected to receive something similar to their signature cake "Midnight Delight" but instead of chocolate curls i chose strawberries, but they used an ugly white frosting, and i originally chose chocolate ganache frosting and there was way too much chocolate shavings around the cake, although we had a great time and the cake was super fresh and delicious! i think you guys should follow the advertised pictures please. This shouldn't need to be said, but here it is: this is a typical ice cream chain, NOT A FIVE STAR RESTAURANT. I had a perfectly fine experience, as I always do, at a typical food chain. This other customer is what ruined it. This entitled male Karen strutted in tonight out of nowhere complaining about one of the employees, Sierra, claiming she had attitude and ignored him. This guy was literally right in front of me in line and I didn't see any attitude or ignoring going down. What, did you mutter a weak "hi" under your breath and get instantly offended when she couldn't hear you over the noise of like 8 other customers? There was only one other employee on shift! The Karen then proceeded to state, or threaten, that he'll be in tomorrow to complain to the manager about her, like... what? Picked up this cake on Saturday, 1/30/21 for my mother's birthday celebration. Basically everybody who saw it was in shock. I was really embarrassed to put it out but I had no time. I love ice cream, but especially Cold Stone ice cream. I try not to come to this location for the same reasons the other reviews mentioned.... lack of seating, there are no indoor seating at this Cold Stone! This area is packed on the weekends and especially during the summer so you can't enjoy your ice cream before it melts, during the summer. The customer service for the most part is good. I went the other day (early, Friday) and I was the only customer. Employee made small talk while waiting for the credit card machine to connect. Also, I was offered the info that for 40 cents more I could get a larger size and I would be given a lid so I could have the other half later. This location has an odor that I can't place my finger on, but it is not pleasant to "my" nose. The parking can be horrendous, so if you are coming for just ice cream you may want to come early, especially during summer vacation. read more

This is a Creamery and the staff don't know what a Malt is. The guy kept saying "Shake'. I said "No. I want a malt." He says "Well, I don't know what a malt is cause I'm not from the 50's. " Me: "I'm not from the fifties either." He made me a scoop of ice cream with malt powder in it. Me: No. A malt. You drink it. Him: "We call that a shake." Me. "With Malt powder, though......so it's a malt." He made a half hearted "sorta malt" that pretty much tasted like a Shake. I can get a chocolate shake at any fast food drive thru. and not pay eight bucks. This is an example of very poor training for a place that focuses on ice cream. A malt is a very basic and foundational treat AND, unfortunately, an example of how each generation just becomes more and more stupid. This kid had a tone that announced he was proud he didn't know what a malt was when he said "I'm not from the 50s." I just came in for chocolate, I don't need. I give zero shits about how cool he thinks it is to be so dumb. I encourage the owner to verify with the Snot's two co-workers. They were oddly quiet. I wondered if one of them should have taken over or if they, too, are clueless concerning the malt powder the place has in inventory but doesn't put on the menu board. After he dumped the malt/ice-cream ball into the blender with too much milk and blended it the same way he blends shakes.... the credit card machine asks for a tip. Bite me. I bet if I asked for an Ice cream soda (Around the corner you can get a great one) the kid's head would have exploded. No worries. There wouldn't be any brains to fly anywhere. His mistake wasn't in not knowing about an iconic component of current Americana. That is on training staff and his parents. His mistake was trying to school someone too tired, too fat, too smart and too jaded, already hating humanity, who just wanted to hide in too many calories after a long day of bullshit. I sure do love this place, and it never disappoints. By far my favorite ice cream to have comes from cold stone. However, it is hitting mess with the quality of their employees. I understand a lot are younger kids but last time I was there I saw them arguing not only with one another but customers as well. Super unprofessional so the star rating is for their ice cream not for customer service. Not a big "sweets" guy but stopped in with my son after an early movie across the street. Place had the sweet smell of fresh icecream and I could smell the butterfingers in the air. My son opted for the icecream with the best color which happened to be bluberry or cotton candy or something fruity! Gave them an extra star because of showmanship.
