This review is a shoutout to the staff here for their kindness and what they have to put up with sometimes. I was in line in the drive thru behind a customer who had "just placed" their mobile order and wanted to pick it up immediately. The barista taking the order had found their order in the queue but warned them they had just placed it, asked them if next time they could please give them more time before picking it up, and that they may need to pull into the parking lot (for staff to bring out to them when it's ready), or make a quick trip around and back into the drive thru so they have time to prepare it. The driver didn't like that answer and refused to move out of the line. If you've ever been to McDonald's, you know they ask you to pull over all the time and I've never seen an incident like this there before... I could hear their conversation as I was the car behind the person with my window down waiting to order. I ended up waiting a total of 12 minutes in line because the person ahead of me didn't want to wait their estimated time before picking up their order (the app tells you when it's ready typically...).They had a huge order (more than 6 drinks). I could have been in and out of the line, but this person kept everyone waiting, causing a long line during the morning rush hour. This is not the first time I've seen this happen at this location. You're probably asking, so what's the difference if I order a large order at the box or mobile order and pick it up right away...that was my question too. So I asked the lady at the window. She was very apologetic for the wait and super friendly. She explained that their system routes the orders to them in a queue. There is a queue for drive thru orders only, and one for mobile and in-store orders, as well as food delivery apps. So, when you place an order for mobile order pickup, you're routed to a different queue than the drive thru, which means they have to search your order up in their system and move yours ahead and try and work on it out of order. This is what caused my delay today. (Also learned there is a drive thru mobile pickup option in the app!j If you're reading this, do the people who are making your drinks a favor and don't be this person. read more

One of the better options for reliable, quick coffee before 7am is probably Starbucks. This one has a small drive thru that you might miss if you go too fast. Not busy before 7am so I got my order quickly. Came here twice when I had early morning starts and just needed a reliable coffee and a quick breakfast option. I've been coming to this Starbucks location for years and overall they do a great job. The staff is friendly, the store is clean, and they usually move things along pretty efficiently. It's a good team and that's why I keep coming back. The reason I'm leaving this review is something small, but it happens often enough that it's worth mentioning. My Americano was filled so high there was basically no room at the top. One cup had maybe a quarter inch of breathing room, another was completely topped off and spilled all over my car the moment I picked it up. It wasn't particularly busy, so it just felt unnecessary. A little space at the top would go a long way. Not a huge deal, but when you're grabbing coffee on the go, nobody wants it sloshing all over the car. when ordering online i chose the wrong type of milk (the type my child is allergic to) because of a letter skipping that i didn't know. When i picked it up i didn't know until my child drank a little i realized, i went back in to buy another cup for my child after picking up the second cup i told the gentleman working (maybe Hispanic i'm not sure), he was very nice and happy to make another cup with the type of milk my child wasn't allergic to. it was very hot outside but i felt very cool because i met nice Starbucks staff and went to a place with good service. i like this location because they're always so nice and speedy. read more

Rude staff in the drive thru while getting my order. Won't be going to this location again

Not coming to this location anymore after being my default for about 10 years. They just cannot seem to get my order correct despite ordering the most basic drinks. First straw was earlier this year when I realized their double espresso shots were often short - so I began ordering triple and quad shots to offset their inability to pour a full double. Funny thing is this made it even more drastic. I'd get almost the same amounts for my triple or quad order as if I was ordering a regular double. Consistently giving me half of what I am paying for is pretty shameful. I significantly cut back on coming here after my little experiment and it wasn't until this month that I went back again. The last two visits I ordered a Tall Iced Americano. One time I was given a hot americano and the second time i was served a short cup. I don't think my order has been proper more than once in the last 10 visits. Not sure if it is incompetence or if shorting me 25-50 cents each visit is helping stay profitable but I am going to move on to a different location that doesn't seem to have this issue. read more

My food was raw and cold I saw the girl at the warming spot take out my food and everyone else's prematurely. This is dangerous and can get someone sick. No wonder they have gotten so fast they take food out of the oven before it is done. I will not be returning. read more

I have a few concerns about this location. I am a regular customer at this locationand I noticed there is a lot of turnover with the barista's. On two occasions, I observed the manager and how she related to her staff and it was horrible. I know Starbucks in general is a great company with solid benefits and compensation however, people leave managers not companies. This particular manager had a very condescending tone and was the opposite of customer friendly. The workers at this and actually stressed out, very different than the other Starbucks locations as a myself in HR. I recommend that Starbucks management take a closer look at what's going on with the store manager at this location. read more

Absolute lunacy. I ordered via the app so I wouldn't have to wait in the drive thru. When I arrived the lobby at Business Park and PAR was closed. Why didn't the store disallow pick up orders? I called the store as I stood outside the locked door and cars lined the drive thru. I told the you g lady who answered the phone that I needed to pick up a mobile order. The partner who answered said, "Yeah. Well you can pick up in the drive thru." I replied with confusion, "So you want me to get in my car and wait in line to receive the coffee I ordered in advance?" "Yeah. You can pick up in the drive thru." Don't bother ordering for pick up if you're in a hurry to get back home to remote teach your writing class. I put in a mobile order to a Starbucks by my work and only realized my mistake when they couldn't find my order. But what I really mean, is that this parking lot can get insane around lunchtime and the way the drive-thru is setup - you may be set to get stuck if you park near the entrance. The best way to handle this place is to place a mobile order. Then park on the Jack in the Box side and walk in! That's a pro-tip for you. I like that the Barista's get to know your name. At least one did, Stephen, so kudos to him. He learned my name and my coworker's name. So that's pretty cool. And I always ask for extra ice in my drink and the barista's here actually put extra ice. My husband and I were in the area, and since it was a warm day, we decided to get some cool drinks. It wasn't busy at the time when we walked in, but the drive thru was. Limited seating, but we decided to take our drinks to go. I hadn't been to Starbucks in a while since I had given up caffeine, so I asked the barista what would be a frap without caffeine and she recommended the double chocolate chip frap without whip. My frosty drink hit the spot and I was happy with my drink. My husband was happy with his iced vanilla latte, as well. Ample parking and other eateries to choose from in the area. read more

I always come here and Brad and some of the other girl baristas always make my coffee and are extremely kind and helpful and their customer service is amazing. Today I came in around 1:20 pm and the guy named Nathan was rude, I was having an issue with my app and he said to call my service. He didn't want to help me and I asked if I could pay with my card and upload my receipt online to get points he said he doesn't know to call someone at corporate! Out of all the Starbucks drive thrus on San Marcos Blvd towards Carlsbad, this one is the best of them all. They get your orders right, the drive thru is quick and they are all friendly. I've sat in other Starbucks drive thru for well over 20 mins before during morning rush and at this location I'm through within 5 mins top! I decided to try the new sous vide egg bites with the red peppers and that thing is delicious!!! They are so fluffy and at 170calories total it is not bad for a light and quick breakfast. I recommend those to come through this one if you want your orders right and not be stuck in a drive thru forever! read more

New starbucks to me...and the drive through is sort of odd. Well, not sort of...it is. It's smack between two buildings. So, here's my tip. Once you enter via Palomar Airport Road, drive behind Starbucks, follow the signs, and squeeze between two buildings. You're there. A starbucks is a starbucks. Usually, they're pretty consistent...and this one was no different. I couldn't see inside so it's hard to comment about indoor seating. Barista was friendly. Being the elite helper that I am, I woke up with the urge to write and complain about something very trivial and leave a business a one star review. HOWEVER, this Starbucks absolutely blew me away!!!!! I ordered a coco puffs latte and a captain crunch frappacino. With the increase trend in quality coffee roasters and abundant choices of coffee to choose from in north county, starbucks usually still has an edge due to its convenience factor (drive thrus/online) and par level coffee. Not in this experience. Starbucks decided to change their open hours without notice or warning on their social media platforms (yelp). They usually opened at 5 am, but surprisingly started opening at 5:30. The barista informed me, but had no reason for the change in schedule, nor apologetic. He says it's been changed to different times recently. Whatever. Let me just order my cold brew and be on my way to work. As I'm on my way to work, I take a sip of my "cold brew" to find it was the most watered down cold brew I have ever had. Even for an ice coffee, it would be considered water down. I'm pretty sure it's not always this way, but this experience turned me off to Starbucks. read more
