I came here after hearing about a ~new~ place offering bubble tea. Their tea menu is comprised primarily of fruit teas; there was a handwritten menu addendum with flavors including milk tea and Thai tea, so I think they're beginning to include more standard flavors. I ordered the milk tea since it's the easiest to compare to other places. While I was waiting, the staff member asked if I was interested in sampling some of their gelato flavors. I took him up on the offer and tried the roasted strawberry, which completely exceeded my expectations! It was sweet but not overly so--he explained the sweetness comes from the strawberries themselves, and there's no added sugar. I also tried the double chocolate, which was great as well. The fact that Cold Spoon makes all of their gelato from scratch really shows; I'll definitely come back for the roasted strawberry and some other flavors as well. Not going to lie: the bubble tea needs some work. The tea itself was actually quite good--the tea flavor presented well and overall tasted quite authentic without being too cloyingly sweet. However, the tapioca bubbles were a little mushy and a little on the flavorless side. The drink also came in a 16oz iced coffee cup, with huge cubes of ice that took up at least half of the cup (even after I asked for less ice). As far as I can tell, there's only one size for $4, and bubbles are an additional $1, which is 50¢ more than more established places like KFTea, TeaDM, and Teas'N You. Ultimately, this came out to a $5+ (half) cup of 5/10 boba, which I have to take a star off for. I think bubble tea is a relatively new offering for them, so I'm not too worried about this first experience. With time, their recipe should improve and perhaps they'll adjust their prices once they have a more steady customer flow. For now, though, the gelato and customer service definitely get 5 stars from me--I'll be back for those! read more

So happy I discovered this place! The only disappointment is that I live so far from here. We were just stopping through to meet up with some friends for lunch and wanted to grab a coffee. The coffee was so smooth but had a great flavor. I asked for a little bit of caramel syrup and it wasn't too sweet. We also tried the greek yogurt with some fruit and the simple syrup was divine!! Love Cold Spoon so much! The owners/managers are so nice first of all. You are always greeted when you come in. I wish more people were like that! The coffee is great and they are happy to customize anything you want. I especially love that they now have oat milk! Not sure why that's .25 more than the other non-dairy options though? Their yogurt bar is wonderful, too. We love the Very Berry. The yogurt is made in-house and all of the granola is gluten free, the berries are fresh, and the agave syrup on top is so delicious. There are so many options you can select from, or you can customize your own toppings. Love, love, love this little local place and I hope they continue to get support from the community. read more

This is the first time I've ever been so blown away by a business that I've gone ahead and created an account to leave a Yelp review. I live in NoVa and am pretty impressed by the dessert and boba places that have been established around here. But I when I came across this gem (Cold Spoon) it by and far takes the lead. The gentleman helping us, who I assume may be the owner, was incredibly polite, diligently followed COVID safety regulations, and designed an atmosphere in the restaurant that indicates very good taste and aesthetic sensibilities. His selection of chocolate and other snacks was a reflection of a strong eye and sense of culture (they sell MAST chocolate bars!) The decor is inviting and if conditions were different, I'd definitely work remotely from this whimsical shop. My friend and I ordered the PB and J yogurt bowl and a yogurt croissant sandwich. They were both delicious. I've never had such a unique sandwich before - so creative! We could tell by the quality of the ingredients that this place is the real deal and there's quite a bit of passion, fun, and artistry injected into the process. The price wasn't bad at all either! I HIGHLY recommend this place, one of the best experiences I've had in the Virginia area in a very long time, or ever. I expect to come here frequently and I can't say enough great things about this charming spot that brings New York's quality and style into the neighborhood of Sterling. 10/5 stars! Went there with the kids for some froyo. Their froyo was pretty damn good. For some reason it tasted real fresh. $4 medium size with all you can top toppings.....great deal. Had a cup of coffee there also which I thought was good. Workers were pleasant and if I'm in that area again I'll definitely stop by. read more

Wow, just wow. As an avid foodie, I make it my duty to try up cute new pop up shops. Even though I'm not a huge fan of yogurt, I had to check this place out. Everything about this place is cute, the regular yogurt parfait bar to the frozen yogurt bar. The yogurt parfait options they have looked delicious (especially the fresas con leche and the mango one). I ended up getting the fresas con leche with the recommendation of the owner. It was delicious! They advertise that their yogurt is homemade and has no sugar and you can taste it! The only source of sweetness from the fresas con leche is the strawberries and the condensed milk. I ordered it to go for my mom and she also said it was delicious. The presentation of it was super cute as well! I ordered a double chocolate hot chcocolate drink and it tasted great as well and the owner even knows how to do latte art! My boyfriend got the frozen yogurt option with the unlimited toppings (which is so much better than paying by weight) and the cookies and cream flavor is delicious! I tasted the original tart flavor and it was also delicious. He got a large and ate the whole thing! The best part is probably the prices. The prices are actually good prices and not overpriced! I seriously recommend this place as I don't give out 5 starts too often unless places blow me away. I found a cute little go to spot by my house that I can bring my family to! Don't miss this place or be deceived by the random location at the end of a low-key strip mall. Delicious yogurt (frozen and regular! .. it's homemade and you can tell!) Coffee is great (Swings) and I'm picky about good coffee. I'd been here months ago and loved it, but hadn't come enough to to rate it yet. I was excited they used swings coffee, but they didn't make coffee after around 5pm and they didn't sell the bags. Not making coffee after 5 was such a bummer to me, honestly I kinda forgot about the place. Now, I came back, pleasantly found out there is NO cutoff for coffee serving time (hallelujah!), they sell Swings by the bag(yes please!), the place is redecorated (it was cute before but now you really feel comfortable staying and sitting longer). Oh and friendly service- all around 5 stars! Only complaint is that the regular yogurt is verrry pricey but you get what you pay for. read more

WOW! Actually the best yogurt anyone in my house has ever had. We got the family sized vanilla and strawberry and both were incredible. The strawberry is sweet, almost dessert-like. The vanilla is perfect with mix-ins like granola and berries. The iced latte was also delicious. Great place. We stopped in for coffee and yogurt earlier this week. The place was fairly crowded, but service moved quickly, and we had no trouble finding a seat by the time our order was ready. Service was great throughout our visit. We were greeted quickly when we entered. The staff was friendly and attentive as we ordered, and as they prepared our food. The person taking our order was comfortable answering questions and patient while we made our decisions. And, when we disposed of our trash and headed for the door, the staff member at the register at the time made a point to say farewell, even though he was also helping another customer. For our order...we opted for a cappuccino and an americano. Both were served hot, and tasted as expected. We also ordered two yogurt dishes from their Signature menu...Fig & Seed and Honey Pecan. Both had solid flavors. The Honey Pecan was simple, but satisfying. The Fig & Seed had a good flavor, and was also satisfying. Our only criticism for the yogurt was that the toppings were far too large. The fig for example was sliced into large pieces each big enough to be a mouthful on their own. To make them bite sized, we had to pick them up in our hands and nibble individual bites. While I get that the large pieces make a nice visual when placed on top of the yogurt, and they are also easier to prep, the dishes would have been better to eat if all the toppings were provided bite sized. That aside, this was a great visit. We would definitely recommend this place to others. And, we've already gone back ourselves. read more
