What a wonderful spot! I'm always on the hunt for a good viennoiserie so I'm so glad I stumbled upon Blue Chicken Bakery's Yelp page! I stopped by this morning and it wasn't too busy! There was a nice spread of different laminated pastries, muffins, sourdough loaves, bagels, and baguettes! We ordered the blueberry bran muffin, the baguette, the ham and cheese croissant, and the cardamom bun. All of the pastries were fantastic. We also ordered a flat white and saw that they use Lone Oak beans which we love! I'm so happy that we have a great option for great pastry. Aside from the chains or Dolce and Ciabatta there's quite a pastry drought in this part of NOVA. So thank you to Blue Chicken Bakery for opening up--I will definitely be back!

Small quiet cafe. Ordered the prosciutto mozzarella, and tomato, basil and balsamic sandwich, and while it was good, there was no prosciutto on it. Then when I asked why there was no prosciutto, they said "oh we are out of that sandwich but we could charge you one dollar more for it [prosciutto]". If they were out of the sandwich they should've told me that before I ordered and paid for it. I also don't understand that if they were out of that sandwich why would I have to pay for prosciutto? Just add it to the already premade sandwich! The sandwich was $7.75. I didn't get nor was I offered a refund. Very disappointed in their customer service. The coffees, however, were very good and flavorful.

I went by yesterday around noon and the selection was quite thin, a few muffins and that was it. I left, disappointed.

The barista helped us out with any questions and was very kind. It was super cozy. The seating was extremely comfortable and I can see myself being here for a while. There was some cute merch too. The place was decorated with colorful posters of the outdoors, which followed the decor of what was in the rock climbing gym upstairs. Speaking of upstairs, you have to use the rock climbing gym's bathroom and the elevator was out of order. It wasn't a short jaunt either to go up the stairs (lol) so this was a bit inconvenient, which made us have to leave earlier than we wanted to. My husband is disabled and it would be difficult for him to use the bathroom upstairs without the elevator working - and there was no ETA on when it'd get fixed. This is an ADA violation to not have an accessible bathroom. FOOD/DRINK: They do have snacks and food to purchase but I did not get some this time around. I got the house special of an iced spiced demerara latte with oatmilk (rich, brown sugar, cinnamon syrup) - it was delightful and delicious. Just the right balance. Hubby got cherry lime espresso fizz (on the summer specials menu). He enjoyed it but I didn't particularly like it (too bitter imho). I couldn't see what brand coffee they used, which I like to know since there are certain brands that bother me. But this place didn't bother me. They do have non-dairy/alternative milk. I would come again if I were in the area but I wouldn't really seek it out. I've had better coffee but I've also had worse. Not sure if the hype lived up.

I did not see it on the menu - so I asked if they had cold brew. They don't make a cold brew - but it was pointed out to me they had cans of cold brew in the refrigerated beverage cooler. Not what I wanted. I was offered iced coffee - which those of you that know - understand there is a vast gulf between iced coffee and cold brew. I ordered a large dark roast coffee - and a breakfast burrito. The menu listed that among the burritos ingredients is cheese - I requested extra cheese in my burrito - as it seems that often I cannot tell there is any cheese in a given burrito. The coffee was somewhat disappointing - rather average - but I guess I should not be surprised by that. The burrito was delivered to my table - wrapped in foil. I asked about hot sauce and the server person brought me 3 bottles to choose from - I selected the Habanero hot sauce. I cut the burrito in half - it looked like it had zero cheese in it - and I certainly could not taste any cheese. The whole thing was rather bland. It needed seasoning. So I added hot sauce and black pepper in an attempt to make it more interesting. I would come back and try some of the other breakfast items in hope of finding something more flavorful. Service was good. Paid with Apple Pay. #KatiesCoffeeHouse

The flavor is always perfect, the consistency is incredible, and you can tell he genuinely cares about what he's making. In fact, the only times I've ever had issues with the taste of my drink have been when someone else made it. Whenever I see that he's working, I know my order is going to be exactly how I like it. That's the level of consistency and quality he brings every time. Great customer service is one thing, but consistently making drinks this good is a skill. This barista is a huge asset to the business, and honestly, he deserves a raise. Employees who make customers want to come back again and again are hard to find, and he's definitely one of them. All 5 of my stars goes to him.

The seasonal Donuts and the Croissant Tarts keep me coming back! Best Donuts - Pumpkin Pie Donut, Tiramisu Donut, Key Lilme Pie, Boston Cream, and Hot Cocoa Nutella donut. The Strawberry and Raspberry have a Jelly/Jam filling. I wasn't a big fan of the Cookie Butter Donut, Cannoli donut, or the Dot Cake Donut. The Cookie Butter donut tasted like creamy peanut butter while the Cannoli donut that didn't have the sweet creamy filling that I was hoping for and the Funfetti frosting was a bit off on the Dot Cake Donut (super fun to see all the dot sprinkles on top!). Croissant Tarts - Both the sweet and savory tarts deliver! The Raspberry Cream Cheese Tart, Red Pepper Feta Tart, Apple Tart, and Everything Tart are all delicious! The classic Garlic Spinach Tart and Shroom Tart are fine. Best Croissants - Christmas Tree Raspberry Croissant, Hazelnut Chocolate Mousse Croissant, Apple Butter Crumble Croissant, Almond Croissant, and Matcha Croissant. The Berry Brioche Tart was fun to try, but not my favorite. The cookies are pretty light and fluffy, the Lemon Cheesecake Cookie tasted like a lemon sugar cookie with no filling. For Valentine's Day, the Linzer sugar cookie filled with raspberry jam was delicious! So glad I grabbed the last one by 11am on Saturday! For Mother's Day, there were colorful macaroons. All of the fillings with the donuts and croissants are whipped and pretty light. There's a parking garage next door and you can get parking validated for 1 hour. While there's plenty of seating inside, it can get packed over the weekends. There's no outdoor seating (there's some makeshift seating around the high-rise building). Great local bakery with a lot of baked goodies to choose from!

The strawberry did taste very fresh and real, and the banana was the perfect sweet treat to satisfy my craving. Overall, I will definitely be back and would recommend to anybody in the area.

I've been looking for a strawberry matcha that has a creamy rich texture, with the perfect ratio of strawberry and matcha. I do appreciate the fact that they use real strawberry puree, but it didn't taste balanced to me. My husband got the mocha forest matcha, it was alright. I wasn't a huge fan of either drinks. I also felt the matcha wasn't ceremonial grade. It had that weird Starbucks fishy taste to it. We ordered breakfast as well- the breakfast indeed tasted homemade but not the kind that wowed me. More like okay wonder bread and some protein. Nothing that stood out or tasted unique. I left wishing I had spent the money elsewhere. Overall, I don't live close to this location so I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but if invited I wouldn't be opposed. It's a tiny spot with few seats and a shared small parking lot. It's better for to go orders. Casual ambiance.

We decided to go to get a little snack and coffee to start the day before some errands. I got a vanilla latte, while he got a mocha latte. Both iced. I got almond milk and hubby got oat milk. I enjoyed the blend of coffee and flavor - not either one overpowering each other. I personally like a little more syrup but it wasn't undrinkable. The almond milk was a teeny bit woody. I'll get oat milk next time. The cashier helped us decided on what pastries to get (there wasn't any signage). I ended up getting a strawberry croissant that was so pretty - it even had some gold glitter on top! Perfect for cherry blossom season. It was flaky and not too sweet. Hubby got a cinnamon roll and they warmed it up for it so it was nice and gooey. It was a cute urban feeling cafe with great AC and comfy seating.
