Sometimes I just like to browse to see how the wealthy live. Great styles here, but you're not going to find any "day glow- orange" things in the $30 discount rack like you might at DSW. Expect an average of$180 to $250 for something unique and with good design. That's fine, that's their target market and I'm ok with that. Actually, if I had to go back to an office setting, they have some interesting takes on the "wing-tip" here that I might consider for dressier days. The sneakers and their styles are really cool and unique, and it looks like they have good "memory foam" insoles. An efficiently designed and compact backpack caught my eye as I was leaving. Also $180. The staff was friendly, and they have some nice couches for partners if they are in tow, while the spendthrift gets their "shop" on. Overall, nice store. This is a review for the Cole Haan website. Absolutely horrible. I ordered two items online, one of which stated that it was in stock so I ordered it and my order went through with the TWO items. I received shipment confirmation but only one item was listed in the email. Before getting upset, I decided to just read the fine print. It states that multiple items may ship separately so I figured that's what happened. I decided to call customer service to confirm that. The agent told me that the website listed an item as in stock when in fact it was not. So I got confirmed and charged for two items when only one item was in stock. Also, she claimed that some glitch resulted in this happening. I also went a did some further research on the site and noticed that they have items listed that are not in stock. Be careful about buying on this site. They will have items listed, charge you for it, then claim a glitch when you don't get your item and find out it wasn't in stock. What kind of ghetto taco shop operation is Cole Haan trying to run here? I originally went to Cole Haan to try on a pair of shoes that I saw online. Service was cool, store wasn't too busy. When the shoes I tried on fit and I wanted to purchase, the sales associate tried to box up the left shoe that was on display. I wasn't about to pay almost $300 for a pair of shoes where the left one was on display. The color didnt even match. The sales person checked for another pair, but no more were in stock. I opted to pay for the shoes there and have them ship a pair to my house in California. They input my shipping info, email address and phone number at the store and I paid for them there. Fast forward 11 days later. No signs of anything shipping from Nike/Cole Haan to my house in California. No automated email, not even an order confirmation from the store but they sure as hell charged my credit card already. I call the store and give them all the information. Guy is on the phone with me thinking out loud while searching on the store computer. Here's a better idea, take down my name and phone number, figure it out and call me back. Ain't nobody got time for that! Halfway through our useless/pointless conversation, the store phone starts breaking up like it was some sort of prepaid cell phone and the minutes are running out. After calling back and getting the call dropped 3 more times I just tell him to call me back. At this point, I wasn't expecting too much from a store that didn't even have a working phone. Of course, nobody ever called me back, when I called the store again 7 hours later they still did not have an answer for me on where my shoes were. And of course, 20 seconds later the call dropped. How is a company like Nike/Cole Haan going to have a phone system comparable to the Magic Jack? I tried calling Cole Haan's customer service number to later confirm that Cole Haan doesn't give a crap about customer service and are about 10 years behind on technology. The lady on the phone said that she cannot see store orders only e-commerce orders. I tried to write an email on their site to only have the form not send through. Up until a few weeks ago, I was wearing the same black shoes for the better part of 2 years. With a promotion and increased responsibility looming, along with a picture in our engagement album that showed the holes in my shoes, I figured it was time to check out some Cole Haan. I went to a 25% off sale and they had a DJ and servers with glasses of champagne to complement the shopping experience. Everything was first class. With each sip of my drink I can feel my wallet loosen up. Our fashion consultant Maury was patient and helped me pick out my next pair of shoes. Customer service is certainly one of their strengths. I got a little side-tracked because of his name, it took some mental gymnastics to pay attention to the shoes and not have a "you are not the father" sound byte going through my head. I ended up with a brown and black pair of shoes with total damage of over $400 after the discount. The shoes are expensive, but ultimately worth it because of how sharp they look and the nike air soles which increase comfortability. One word of warning is that it will take hours for the shoes to adjust to your feet so expect to get some blisters the first few times you put your shoes on. read more

I came here to check out the Cole Haan shoes with Nike soles during black Friday. I was pleasantly surprised by the extremely nice sales woman who helped me. She retrieved the three pairs of shoes i asked for and then backed off while i felt them out. She was helpful without being pushy. Purchased the black Falmouth high tops and when I was trying them on in the store the leather loop to pull the shoe on RIPPED as I was pulling the shoe on! I then questioned the quality and how light weight the shoes seemed, and was told that the shoes were made of high quality materials but we're light for my benefit...not sure what that even means. Best customer service here, I became a Cole Haan fan for life after one visit to this store in the beginning of summer. Walked in looking for comfy yet stylish shoes I could wear out/to work. All of the store associates greet you when you enter and will check up on you periodically to make sure you're doing okay. One in particular answered all of my questions- to size-up or size-down (depending on the stretch of leather), whether it has arch-support, and even if it caused chafing... I have worked around the corner from this Cole Haan location for almost ten years and no one has ever been overly friendly when I have shopped there. However, today was a new low. I attempted to purchase a pair of shoes that were marked as being on sale with an additional 40% off. At the register, the shoes came up at full price. When I asked, all the cashier said was they were not on sale. I then went back to the display where I found the shoe and brought it over to the register to show the cashier that they were marked as being on sale. During that time, another guy (who I can only assume was the manger) came over and started asking when I purchased the shoes and if I had my receipt. I explained that I hadn't purchased them yet because the price came up wrong in the register. After waiting for another customer to be rung up, I approached the register where I was asked for my receipt again, by the same guy who asked me for it the first time! I re-explained that I had not yet purchased the shoes because they were not ringing up on sale, even though they were clearly marked as being so! The manager, or whoever he was, just shrugged his shoulders and said "these are mismarked and are not on sale". I was pretty shocked at how rude he was so I just said "never mind" and left. I will probably never shop at this location again. The shoe was marked wrong by someone who works there, not me, and the price should have been honored. He believed that had I worn no show socks and rolled up my pants, like him, I wouldn't experience this "malfunction." ABSOLUTELY THE WORST RETAIL EXPERIENCE IN NYC. working in the fashion industry (corporate), i do understand what it means to receive and give good customer service on both sides, and i can assure you that this store is no where even near mediocre. rude and ignorant staff + useless manager = retail disaster. my experience here tonight started off with an amazing sales staff Ricky, who helped me thoroughly with my selection where i ended up deciding on a pair of oxfords. my good experience immediately ended when he gave the shoebox to the cashier. to back track little, last fall, i bought a pair of loafers at the same store location and the store staff at the time told me that i would receive a 15% off of my NEXT purchase if they put me in the system, and so i agreed. When i inquired about it today, this cashier was completely confused and denied that this was one of the promotions that they have ever done. She then asked for me to give her my email again and said that corporate MAY send me a coupon, blatantly misinformed me and probably hoped that it would just end my inquiry. As she entered my email into the system, i asked her multiple times if she could validate and confirm this with another sales person. A tall guy with weird curled up Dali mustache, walked right to me and told me rudely AND loudly (with a few customers still shopping on the floor) with the most sarcastic tone, " well you can leave your email with us to get a birthday discount, or we can gladly remove your email if you don't want to receive 25% on your bday. it would be our pleasure not to give you this discount". OH REALLY. this is the point where i learned her name - I asked for it and I asked for the manager - it was hilarious seeing Jasmine trying her hardest to cover her ass and trying to speak over me while i talked to the manager. i looked straight into her face and said "there is no need to roll your eyes". the manager was definitely pretty useless - she couldn't calm the situation down, she had her employee embarrass herself even more in front of a customer, all in all just did not know how to handle a complaint. I bought a pair of sandals here less than a month ago. I had seen a pair of sandals online that looked really cute, so I went to the actual store in Flatiron to test them out. It was my first time at a Cole Haan store (and first time experiencing the product). When I arrived, the store was busy and seemed hectic. I picked up a pair of $160 flat sandals, which seemed expensive to me, but they seemed nice quality. The pair I wanted were not available in my size, so I felt compelled to purchase something else. The flat sandals I tried on were nice and fit great, so I bought them ($180+ with tax). Within weeks, not months or years, but weeks, two of the metal pieces on the toe strap just fell off. Literally, I went to put on my shoes and they were gone (with the pointy hardware sharp and exposed). Also, the "covering" (?) on the top of the sandal (where your foot goes) is also peeling back like a cheap piece of paper that wasn't glued down properly. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. I reached out on their Facebook page, only to be ignored for over a week (I even included a photo of my shoe) and then called their store to find out what they could do. I was told I had to come into the store so they could "inspect" the damage. Seriously? Can't the photo I sent to customer service suffice? I'm a first-time customer, not trying to rip anyone off, I just want the sandals that I really love to look and feel the way they did when I bought them literally only weeks ago! Purchase from the colehaan.com website and was charged sales tax despite being delivered to Manhattan that is tax exempt for clothing. Email customer service only replied to say that sales tax is only estimated but will be correct on my final charge. It wasn't and they never responded to me again when I wrote to them. Decide to return the merchandise so brought it to this retail location. They were nice enough but struggled with the return taking over 20 minutes getting it into their computer, repeatedly asking me for my name/address/etc which was all on the receipt that I had printed out for them. In the end they refunded without the sales tax that was collected by the website. Many more emails followed and they were completely unapologetic about the situation. Threat of reporting them to New York State department of taxation and finance got their attention but it just isn't worth the time. Bottom line is that there are plenty of other places with quality products in this city so there is no reason to shop here anymore. Cole Haan is done, and their shoes may be well made but they are getting uglier and uglier with few nice ones to choose from. read more
