A gathering place for the 'sex and the city' bus tours, the salesmen are rude and snooty, especially considering I was looking to pay a few THOUSAND DOLLARS for a pair of shoes. The outside is filthy- cigarette butts everywhere and Uber Suburbans with cigar smoking drivers double parked outside. Oddly their grate to the sidewalk is always open, as if they own Greenwich Ave. Which they act like they do. But at least the inside is tiny and tasteless! A little bit of Vegas in New York City. Customer service department "The CL Team" responded to my original review and they are eager to know what I experienced at the store, so here you go for ZERO star review: - The doorman is nice. -The minute I passed the doorman, two sales staffs looked at me and said nothing (no "Hi", no "How can I help you?") and kept talking between them. No customer besides me in the store. - After browsing for about five minutes, still no communication from the sales staffs. Still no customer besides me in the store. - I walked up to the counter and asked about a certain pair of shoes that I liked to try in 37.5 and 38, one of the sales staff came back with 38. While trying 38, I asked her about 37.5 again, she said she will check. She went straight back to chatting with another sales staff. I never got any response if they have 37.5 or not. I gave up and left the store. I am not one of those customers who browse and buy nothing. I own several pairs of CL shoes that I adore, most of which came from Bergdorf and Barneys and CL UES. The department stores and CL UES did not have the certain pair of shoes I was looking for, the only location that carried it was here. I love this store! Gorgeous shoes. The most money I ever spent on shoes was for the Neurones (spider web sandals worn by SJP on Oprah) for $1495. But oh the compliments I get when I wear them! I also have a pair of black patent Louboutin sandals and a lady on the street actually stopped me and said, "Oh, your shoes sparkle!". Definitely shoes you have fun wearing. Yes, the red soles do come off, so you need to put protective red rubber soles on them before wearing them. I found a shoe repair shop on Wall Street called Mina's that does a good job. Cute boutique. Friendly service. Meager selection. I LOVE my Louboutins so I had high expectations on my first real boutique experience. The only Louboutin stores I'd been to in the past were at South Coast Plaza (in OC) and The Shoppes at The Palazzo (Las Vegas). The mall stores just don't compare to the real thing, or so I thought. Most of my collection was purchased at Dept Stores like Barneys, Neiman Marcus, & Bergdorf. I was disheartened that the boots I wanted were nowhere in sight. I suppose I should have checked their boutique on the UWS but we didn't have time. Also, the styles they did have in-stock were either way out of budget ($5k+ per pair) or the older seasons. I would have rated this location 3 stars but the very helpful sales associate gave me a heads up on their upcoming styles. I cannot wait for the Spring-Summer collection to release! No obvious signage to mark its presence from the rest of the neighborhood, but their telltale heels with the trademark red soles are displayed prettily near the window. Inside is lush decor in pinks and reds, including a huge glass cherry blossom ceiling fixture. Sizes here are different so if you only know your "American" size, ask the staff to convert that for you. Some staff seem intent on leaving you alone while others are very helpful. All have been polite no matter what you come through the door in, an experienced attitude that pays. That is what makes this store approachable and preferred vs. the Neiman Marcus or Saks showroom areas. It also helps that some items here go on sale before the stores follow suit. I noticed it was the most frumpy character in a sort of sweatsuit that walked away with 5 pairs. As soon as you walk in you are surrounded by the fabulous pairs of shoes!! [The farther back into the store you go, the pricier the shoes become; boots, sequined shoes, special edition etc] Someone should have came up to me and ask if I needed help, instead I had to go near the register and ask for help. I shouldnt have to ASK for help when I'm here to blow $2000 on shoes -.- Anyway the lady at the counter was a bitch & pretended I was invisible [some trashy brunette w. a hat on]... So another man [George was his name, not the man who greeted me when I first entered.] who was very reluctant to help me, came out and decided to assist me. Long story short, I bought my shoes then came home to discover one was damaged & he put two different shoes in the other box. [I live in Queens FYI]... So I had to travel alllll the way back to the store because of his silly mistake. FRIENDLY FYI: i bought a pair of shoes and a handbag from the madison store. The sales lady stretched them for me to "take off the bite" at the register another lady said you have ten days to exchange if you need to (no refunds) i was totally fine with that. I tried them on when i got home and they seemed to not fit the same as when i was in the store. I was thinking it was because i had walked home (nyc streets) and maybe my feet had swelled up. The next morning i tried them on again and they seemed even smaller. I am not one to wear shoes that hurt and "wait" for the them to feel better so i decided to exchange them for something else. The next day i took them to the Horatio st location to see if maybe they had a different selection in my size. I told them the story (above) as to how i obtained the shoes. you could tell i had never worn them and there was NO damage bc i had JUST purchased the shoes two days prior. The guy said "bc the madison ave sales lady stretched them i could not exchange bc they are considered damaged" HUH? that wasn't even my idea it was hers and the woman at checkout said i had ten days if i decided they did work out. AND he had an attitude about it. VERY rude. I actually wanted to buy another pair that i saw that was not at the upper east side store but the service was so rude and disrespectful that i did NOT! Point out to me one girly girl who DOESN'T lust after CL shoes and I'll point out to you an android. I was in NYC last week and had often walked by this store since the West Village is my favourite area of NY and often go to other shops in the area like Annick Goutal since it seems many French and Parisian brands seem to pop up their American flagship stores in the vicinity. I finally plucked up the courage to walk in and try a pair of Louboutins, at the very least to get my proper size for future reference since they tend to run narrow and small. After purchasing shoes from other niche brands in the past like John Fluevog, Alaïa and Eileen Sheilds (sister of Kevin Shields of "My Bloody Valentine" fame) , I know firsthand how even if you think you are a particular shoe size, that may not be the case with particular shoe brands and the way they are constructed. It's ALWAYS a good idea to get a proper fitting. Your feet will thank you as you get older plus you lessen the chances of buyer's remorse afterwards. That said, when I walked in there were two associates who were busy with other clients. No problemo, it gave me some time to look around. I had already done my research online to see the latest models and I was on the market for a pair of Chelsea boots, ideally studded and lots of hardware, perfect for fall to go with black skinny jeans/leggings, bulky sweater, killer scarf and presto, you're ready to go. I saw the Otaboo toe-studded boot and knew instantly that was the one. NYC had a few days of infernal heat and humidity while I was there and I walked in feeling and looking like a sweat-hog, like an unmade bed at the feet of the Angel Gabriel. Nonetheless, Michael instantly greeted me and given he was busy with another customer asked me if I wanted some water while I waited. I didn't expect that at all and he got me a bottle of Perrier which won me over instantly. Eventually I tried on two pairs of the Otaboo and discovered that the 8 1/2 were perfection. Super comfortable too. After telling him that I'm from Canada, Michael even took the time to go calculate how much the boots would come out to with taxes and the US/Canadian exchange rate. Long story short: I didn't get the boots, the exchange rate is just too high right now, when it gets closer to parity, that's when I'll bite. Michael could see the dilemma I was in and gave me his card. But who knows? Life is strange, lots of weird and wonderful things can happen in the meantime. Holy God this was one of the most painful purchases I have ever made in my life, despite the fact that it gave me great pleasure to hand my Discover Card over to the sweet salesgirl who talked me into two pairs of shoes. I had been lusting for a pair for ages (well, ages for my tender 25 years), and knew that the big day was coming up when I made my trip out to NYC. It took me almost a week to psych myself up to go to the store and start trying shoes on. Getting into the store after ringing the bell (natch) was like a breath of fresh air, more due to the air conditioning. The store, while small, is nicely laid out with lots of places to try shoes on. When you walk in, what I would describe as their "core" shoes are displayed in shadow boxes on the right, and more seasonal picks are in the window on the left. I did not venture into the Madison Avenue store (THAT'S just downright intimidating), but I heard that this branch also carries a more "hip" variety of shoes. The best part about the design of this store is that they have this gorgeous blown glass cherry blossom structure over part of their store (Done by a Tom Ford, not of the Gucci Empire). I kept looking at it while i was trying shoes on. The best part (or maybe the worst) was that they were still in summer sale when I came in, AND they had the shoes I had tried on at Barney's in MY SIZE. On SALE. How does a girl say no? I also pretty much knew the other pair I was going to buy, and lucky me - they also had them in my size. It was also spurned on by the fact that they were sold out of almost every other size, and had some crazy wait list for them. They are practical in a sexy way. Ugh, just gorgeous. I'm the envy of the majority of girls that I know. The sales staff here is helpful and nice. They don't sweat you if you aren't going to buy shoes, and will still let you try stuff on. And they totally got why I wanted a pair of try on nylons when I came in, since I was all hot and sweaty from walking around the West Village, in 92 degree weather no less. Even though I wasn't dressed like I had money (jeans, tshirt, onitsukas), they treated me as such. So, funny story, I've never actually visited the brick and mortar location of this Boutique but I have had the pleasure of being helped by Bessie on a number of occasions. I started wearing Christian Louboutins about 5-6 years ago. I had initially developed a raging obsession for purses that later turned into shoes. After about a year of obsession or so I had developed a great relationship with a SA at my local Neimans (Troy, MI). Shortly afterward, I moved to Texas and somehow Christian Louboutin heels became much more mainstream. The great thing about this store is that you can do charge-sends. I've had quite a number of shoes sent to me in both Austin and Houston and the Sales Associates are always cheerful. Bessie in particular was wonderful and helped me in my search for limited edition and hard to find styles. I'm the kind of person who prefers to purchase items that are limited release and since the two New York boutiques are the ones that usually receive said items, I find myself calling them up whenever something catches my eye. I just don't like seeing another girl wearing the same shoes. Thanks to the wonderful SAs here (Bessie in particular), my collection has steadily grown to overwhelm my closet. Christian Louboutin heels are beautiful. Each of my many pairs is like a work of art and no two pairs in my collection are truly identical (I have a few pairs that are style duplicates but different colorways). Even though there are only certain pairs that I've designated as appropriate (read comfortable) for daily wear, I still feel amazing and gorgeous in every one of my pairs. In reality every woman should own at least one pair of Christian Louboutin heels. Super cute, cozy boutique. I was a little nervous to come because of what I had read about the unfriendly assistance, but I found that not to be the case. The man who helped me was low-key and fantastic, and he really knew exactly what to do to get the best fit (which was important to me, as I had trouble at Saks with the associates trying to find the right size for my foot.) There were two other women working--one, a petite Asian woman, was really nice and complimented me on the shoes I was wearing, but the tall brunette almost went out of her way to be completely unconcerned with me (if she had been the only one in the store that night it would have been a whole different experience.) The shop had a pretty great selection when I went, after the Christmas and New Year holidays, and lots of stuff on sale. I got the black patent mary-janes, and haven't even been able to put the box in my closet because of how happy it makes me when I walk into my room and see it sitting there. These shoes have been escorted around the city for a few years now and they're not going to go away. Well-designed, perfect height, and beautifully made. They are HOT! I am a professed fan. My review is mixed on shoe and service. I've own a good collection of CL shoes and loved every single one of them. They are all size 35.5 and well kept. I've tried them on at home and in stores never with any issues. I decided to get a Nude version of a pair I already own but the only store that has them my size is this store. so I have to buy them via email. I usually buy my shoes from Barneys, Saks, NM in Boston (where I live). Anyways, they came really fast from NY to Boston (one day standard shipping) but to my surprise they don't fit. The 35.5 is way too big on me. I tried them on carpet and even on my dog's bed in order to not scratch them. The weirdest thing is that they still got imprints on the bottom from the carpet. They are not in bad condition though. This has never happened to my other CL shoes and I didn't take that much effort to "save" them. My fiance who lives in NY went to exchange them and the manager refused saying he believes they are ruined. really?? ruined? let's not be so dramatic now. Yes, the carpet made some line marks on the bottom but by no one standards are they ruined. They wanted to charge me money to exchange them. Seriously as if 625 + 20 bucks shipping wasn't already enough money. My fiance told them that this isn't the first time we bought CL shoes and he said "oh we don't have you in our system except for this pair". Yea it's bc of people like you that I buy them from department stores. SNOBS. I had been dying to bite the bullet and do it, and after little food, a lot of champagne, and being flanked by my 2 best friends in from out of town, it was on. The store was absolutely beautiful and spotless I was greeted with a cheerful hello by the sales staff as well as management. I went here with boyfriend as he wanted to get some red bottoms as a 25th bday gift. I was pretty excited, however that quickly faded once we walked in and we're greeted by absolutely no one. In fact, we were in the store for a whole 5 minutes before anyone said anything to us. FYI, the store is small and there were 4 people working that day. Once we finally had someone come up to us, he didn't ask what we were looking for, what occasion may have brought us in, or what style I was into. I tried to give him some information into what I was looking for and my style and he said that they had more options online but the shoes I was describing were not in store. Even doormen at clubs are trained to spot quality shoes. I'm from a little town, so my jaw dropped when I discovered how much attention is paid to all of this. Nevertheless, I've become a huge fan, myself. I DID deduct one star because, with quality stores such as this- it is good to get even more personable with the salesman. I had been searching for the very prive 120mm in black patent for months! The website kept saying the two NYC locations might have them in stock, but I could never get a hold of the one on the upper east side after leaving multiple voicemails. The west village location called me back immediately the day of and I got to try on and pick up my shoes that evening! The store closes at 7 and I managed to get there 5 min before, but I was really grateful that the sales associates stuck around long enough so I could make a sound decision (I was stuck between 36.5 and 37). The guys I met were really nice and I didn't feel pressured to make a purchase. They also gave me complimentary sole cushions for my left foot that wasn't fitting 100% snugly. I wore my shoes out in Vegas for the first time and they were AMAZING. The sexy red soles held up pretty well after 2 nights of clubbing. Especially since the arch if the heel is so steep, you never have to worry about some parts wearing away. I'm completely in love with CL and have fallen into a dangerous addiction.
