Where to start...well here goes, we parked and waked in to this establishment and noticed that most if not all people in this place where glued to the television as the World Cup game (Mex vs. Kor) was on, understandably as in certain places Football is life. We waited by the Bar near the entrance for 25 minutes while all three waiters ignored us, made eye contact, checked their phone and took pics . Another Paton at the bar walked over to us and said they her grandchildren were sitting at a table which was empty except for a few sweatshirts so she removed them and said we could have the table, which was a very nice gesture that we appreciated. We continued to wait for another 10 minutes or so until we had enough with being ignored we left and went to another place and were seated and not ignored, a great meal by the way. My Brother in law was with me along with my son and my nephew. I had seen this place recommended by "The Boredom Report " ( JT my apologies but your guy here is out of line) many times and was excited to try this place as I always am when in Baja. Unfortunately, this place dropped the ball. My Brother in law left a review on yelp approximately 20 minutes or so after our visit and was sent a rather rude and racist message by someone named "Noel' stating that Mexico was in the World Cup and that they were playing in Mexico along with that we were I can't remember if it was Dumb or Dirty Americans so I'm going to go with Dumb for this one, "Dumb Americans" that need to educate ourselves on the Mexican culture and such. Well I'll say this, I too have been in Baja for over 40 years, Noel and never have I had any establishments in Baja ever ignore any customers until last night. If myself and my family didn't love, respect Mexico or its people and culture we would never go south of the border and be ignorant to anything having to with Mexico. But, since you are obviously more focused on Football instead of your business I would imagine that you might not last long with that mindset. Also Noel, please feel free to explain to me or anyone for that matter why you choose to run an American style Microbrewery and Sushi Restaurant and not a traditional restaurant in Baja? Could it be you're were attempting to attract a certain Dirty and or Dumb Americans? Also, please explain me and all that read this how to educate myself on "Mexican Culture'' when you're attempting to mimic two different cultures and yet have no idea on anything related to customer service. Please continue to Just throw out something racial and derogatory to cover up for you and your staffs shortcomings because racism has become a form of needing attention and not truly the issue at hand these days. Perhaps next time any "Dumb Americans" walk in to your place why don't you just refuse service, oh wait you do that by ignoring them and giving a racist rant on culture and education. instead of actually dealing with your staff/business issues. Now I've made some mistakes before with reviews and I generally give a place a few chances to rectify things as I know running a restaurant/business isn't easy and there are things that are out of people's control so I will update things when I return. As I believe this is the only true way of giving a honest and legitimate review. Perhaps next time you post a response you should also remember that there is an e-mail that is sent with your same response to the person that posted the review.Simply changing your response online doesn't change the initial email, and saying "you were busy" isn't an accurate description in this instance. This is a top notch Sushi Restaurant and Brewery, and they have other great dishes (come for the Guacamole - stay for the Scorpion!). The Margaritas and the beer are excellent! The Yellowfin tuna we had was swimming just a few hours prior. So good!!! They use locally sourced and only the highest quality and freshest ingredients. The staff is super friendly and fun - we spent 2 afternoons there and they were awesome! My two teen-aged daughters and my wife and I really enjoyed it. It's a good size place with beautiful inside and outside areas - good for families and the party crowd. I hope we'll be able to come back one day soon!!! read more

This is, by far, the most amazing mole poblano that we have ever had. We went back on Thursday for lunch after trying it on Tuesday for dinner. My partner, who usually doesn't care for kombucha, had the gengibre (ginger) kombucha and liked it. Their salsa is sweeter and more tomato-y and less spicy than other places, which was a plus. The outdoor patio is really nice, with excellent sunset views. First visit, I had Peruvian ceviche (very tasty), while on the second visit, I opted for some sushi (amazing, amazing crab rolls) and a poke bowl. They were great with making the dishes the way we wanted (hold the rice). Service was fine on Tuesday, and outstanding today. Would definitely recommend. read more

Awesome spot walking distance from Las Gaviotas. We sat outside to enjoy the view and the night sky. There was also live music, a solo artist singing and playing his guitar. Live music, good food, strong margaritas what more can a girl ask for? My youngest ordered the fish bites off of the kids menu and it was enough for two kids, very generous. I had a delicious poke bowl. I don't remember what my husband or oldest daughter ordered but I do remember that they enjoyed their meals. Sushi was incredibly lacking in terms of flavor, it was essentially bland without any soy sauce. The crab wasn't great. Tacos could do with more salsa. They are a good size and filling, but again, were lacking. I had the shrimp tacos and they really would be elevated if there was more salsa or flavor. Shrimp itself was tasty. This is a GREAT spot. My boyfriend and I went to Rosarito to visit my mom who is retired there, and we usually go to places that she and her retired friends go to. This time around I checked out a bunch of places and found this one. Besides the fact that it was so close to where she lives, the food looked really fresh. I love the fact that most everything is locally caught and that you can actually go on days that the fish is most fresh. We got lucky and got there on a day that both the yellowtail and tuna were fresh. We had a variety of things because we love eating and we just couldn't decide what to eat. We had yellowtail handrolls, spicy yellowtail cut roll, tuna handrolls, spicy tuna cut roll, fried yellowtail tacos, shrimp tacos and crab handrolls. Immediately you could tell that the food was fresh, the fish was so buttery to chew through and the tacos were a healthy size and absolutely delicious. I definitely found my new favorite shrimp taco place. The crab handroll was the only thing that we weren't in love with. Mind you it was amazing that it was real crab, but it was so dry because that's all it was, that it really needed something to make it less difficult to eat. Maybe make it like a California roll and add Japanese mayo, or butter to go with the crab. We didn't have any beer, but it looked like most everyone there was drinking some kind. The lemonade we got was fresh made too, which was a treat. The only downside was the fact that it's all windows indoors, so once the sun hit directly, it got VERY warm. Now we know for next time that we will sit outside, which apparently during summer has live music. Also, they have a lot of parking. read more

The most incredible handrolls I've ever had!! Yellow tail, Bluefin, and real crab. I believe they source their fish locally every morning so makes sense. Had a frozen strawberry marg and they used real strawberries, no artificial stuff - YUM. My friend got Chef Giany's gourmet shrimp tacos and they were beyond delicious too. The space is beautiful and the people are super kind and friendly. I went in the middle of the week and it was calm and super enjoyable. We stopped in on spring break weekend for drinks. Online said they opened at whatever time, but they were not open yet. They did allow us to sit anyway but couldn't serve us till opening time. The space is huge with lots of inside and outside seating . They have some really cool paintings hung up. Bathrooms were great. We sat outside debating playing a game of bags but we were too lazy. The place stayed empty while we were there, but we think it would have been fun if the place was popping. Appears to have live music? The staff was super friendly and welcoming. I just absolutely love this place. As a vegan, missing sushi has been a challenge. I really really miss it. Lol. This place gives me back my sushi. They have a few things on the menu; a vegan menu & all of it is worth it. The service is hit or miss, although he sure to ask for Sergio. He is the head bar manager & is always making sure that tables are taken care of. As long as your intention is to go there to relax & enjoy as the food & drinks come out, you are set. I went with several friends that ordered off the regular menu & WOW. It looked & they said it tasted amazing. They even use white ginger & have. Sriracha along with some other wonderful hot sauces. I want to start by saying that the ambiance here is so nice- we sat outside and there was live music, string lights and they lit some bonfires. Their staff is also lovely. I saw all of the great reviews and had such high hopes. I think if we were just coming for the vibe and drinks it would be 5 stars. We just had some really average food. We tried the bluefin poke bowl, a crab hand roll, and the Hawaiian burger. The poke bowl had no flavor to it at all, just super bland. The crab roll was really dry and also had no flavor. The burger was a little better but still just pretty average! We did enjoy our drinks- I tried a sour, the kombucha and my boyfriend had a light beer. No complaints in regards to drinks! The service was very slow, close to an hour for us to get 2 plates of fish tacos. Not their fault it was busy, my complaint really is the how bland everything was. The spicy fish tacos were super bland and the blackened yellowtail was flavorless. The fish was way over cooked and dry. The pineapple they used was as bland as a potato. The prices are San Diego prices for MX which def threw us off. Normally when you're hungry everything tastes good, but we were disappointed at all the positive reviews. This place is great! Fresh sushi, locally brewed beer, guitar wizard playing the hits... say less. We come here often and it never disappoints. We even had our wedding welcome party here and they were more than accommodating. We worked closely with the manager Juan (shout out!) who helped us plan out our special evening. This is a MUST stop for a bite to eat! We popped in here twice on our visit to Rosarito. Both visits were noteworthy. On the first visit we had the house made guacamole... it is delicious with perfect flavor balance. I had a borrego (lamb) burger and it was delicious. They make a killer mojito as well, with all the freshest ingredients. The second visit was equally as impressive. We went on Saturday evening and there was live music. We had different beers on tap, and I tried the sushi burrito with tuna and scallop. We had the yellowtail ceviche Peruvian style. It was wonderful. Surf Brewing is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in town (or just outside of town, I should say!). Located above the liquor store across the street from Las Gaviotas, this spot has TONS of space, inside and out. There's local art on the walls, surfboards on display and the wall-to-wall windows make this an awesome spot to catch the sunset. The outside patio is enormous and is even equipped with a separate bar for really busy days. I'm not a seafood eater and this place primarily serves sushi, but the non-fish items I've had were delicious! They have lots of fruit and veggie roll options as well as a quesadilla, which always makes me happy! Not to mention, the chips and salsa are top-notch. My husband, on the other hand, is a savage sushi eater and absolutely loves their fish. It's all locally sourced from fishermen in the area and I think that makes all the difference (not to mention, it's sustainable!). The beers are awesome as well. They have their own beers as well as some other local options. Haven't had a bad one yet! And when you get sick of beer, they have plenty of tequila and wine to keep you happy. Last but certainly not least is the service. It's the best! Super quick and genuinely friendly. Our favorite server is Victor. Our expectations were exceeded by this delicious meal. The staff were super friendly and attentive, the food was outstanding and the ambiance was great. We got the yellow tail tarido, omakase roll, and special tacos. We didn't think the sushi style dishes would be that good, but they were outstanding. Amazingly friendly staff. We always love coming here. The food is consistently delicious. The beer and wine selection were good before and they've experimented and expanded since our last visit. Josh had the pear kombucha (non alcoholic). It was so refreshing and delicious. I had the #5 session IPA and #13. They were both really good, hoppy and citrusy. I loved the #5 and took another to go. The guacamole is so fresh and the blackened zucchini tacos are bursting with flavor.
