Colin has changed my dog's Chloe's quality of life! When I rescued her (she is a German Shepherd), she was social but hesitant with other dogs, had no off leash skills, and generally did not come when called. I did invest in training, but Chloe joining Colin's pack is where I really noticed the change in her! While Colin mainly leads pack walks, we asked Colin if he'd come by our place to help train our two small guys who had a pretty bad case of leash aggression. We have a 5 year old miniature poodle & 8 year old miniature schnauzer. They're both rescues with histories. Our poodle was used as a bait dog in a dog fighting operation, so he has a uniquely extreme fear of medium to large dogs. Our schnauzer lived on the street for a while and has had to readjust to being a pet and the joys of sleeping on a soft couch. They aren't spring chickens and haven't been the easiest guys for other trainers to train. WHY WE CHOSE COLIN I figured if Colin regularly leads 10 dogs with new dogs coming in and out of the pack, getting two little guys who talk a mean game with other dogs to behave on their walks would be right in his wheelhouse! I had met Colin at an event in my office and was beyond impressed with how he understood dogs' body language, what they were communicating, and knew that dogs can need different things to feel safe and balanced. Colin is around dogs literally all day, so his leadership methods are tested regularly in the real world, not Google searches. BACKGROUND We've had two other trainers work with our pups. One trainer was very militaristic, which was very effective for a couple months, but didn't focus on leadership. Another trainer was all about cookie-cutter actions that would allegedly shape our relationship with our dogs - having the dog sleep on the floor, going out the door before the dog, doing a feeding ritual, waiting FOREVER at the door before leashing them - that literally did not do a thing. It was probably the worst money I've ever spent. Our dogs are pretty good inside the house. They're not destructive and mostly sleep all day. Over the course of a whole day inside, we'd probably get a total of 5 barks from our dogs. When we would go outside, it was very different. Our two cute pups were a little gang of fools. They would bark at 90% of all dogs that they saw, some people, and they really were dicks on their leashes. Off leash at the dog park, they pretty much kept to themselves and never cause any issues. Because leash life is 98% of our walking life with them, we wanted to fix the leash part. We know that our dogs are not the most social guys in the world, but we also know that they can be totally fine with other dogs in the right circumstances. METHODS The best part about working with Colin is that he observes your dog and figures out what they need individually. He does not use a one-size-fits-all training methodology. Best of all, he asks you what your goals are and helps you get there. For us, our goals were right in his wheelhouse - peaceful walks and no more leash aggression towards other dogs. We didn't need our dogs to be best friends with other dogs or have them sit, stay, or do tricks. They can already do those things :) Colin observed our dogs in the house, on walks, and also how we interacted with them before the walk, in the house, and during the walk. Based on what we were doing, he gave us tips on how to fix it and we practiced them right away in the real world. Our dogs are generally very fearful of Golden Retrievers and Pitbulls (insane barking fests, pulling, and lunging), using Colin's leadership and correction techniques, we had them walking by both breeds with minimal correction within a half hour. I really loved that we spent most of our time working and practicing, not talking and theorizing. Colin helps you understand your relationship with your dog, how your dog reacts to it, and how this can be improved. Once you find something that works for your dog, you get to practice it. Some things might work great. You'll do those. If something doesn't work great, you'll go back to the thing that does work great. RESULTS I'm so happy that we called Colin. After one phone call, one in-person session, and using the very reasonable techniques he suggested for each of our dogs, our two dogs have never been better. Our dogs have seen 4 out of 5 of their neighborhood arch enemies and we've seen a dramatic improvement. It is such a dream to be able to walk our dogs in peace knowing that we can easily correct them at the slightest hint of aggression, then our dogs can be at peace walking by other pups in the neighborhood. Best of all, we're already seeing the initial aggression go down as we're becoming better leaders and our dogs feel safer with us. We're active participants in our dogs' improvement and know that it'll get better with time. We know that we need to be good leaders all the time to help our dogs feel safe. We're better leaders. I'm so happy that I found Colin's hiking pack! I tried dog walkers, but walks simply weren't enough mid-day exercise for Breck, my active, 85lb shepherd mix. Now Colin comes to pick up Breck 2-3x a week, rain or shine. The hikes are fantastic since they're stimulating exercise in the company of other dogs. Roy, known by some in Santa Monica and on FB as the "Furry Ambassador", is my 20 mo. Golden Retriever. Curious and loving and undisciplined. He's a puppy. A fantastic puppy. According to Yelp, five stars means "as good as it gets" - that is exactly how I would describe Colin's Pack. In fact, I would give him 10 stars if I could. I have an intense, high-energy German Shepherd/Husky mix, who can be nervous and reactive with other dogs. However, she does great with a strong pack leader and really loves socializing with other dogs - especially in a pack environment. When I realized that I needed help getting Bella all the exercise and socialization she needs, I felt anxious. I did HOURS of research and finally stumbled upon Colin's Pack during an Internet search and it has been a saving grace for me and Bella. Here are just some of the reasons why I LOVE Colin's Pack: 1. Most importantly, Bella gets great exercise, and the socialization she wants and needs. Plus, she absolutely adores Colin and is overwhelmed with joy when he comes to pick her up. 2. Colin is incredibly talented - he truly loves and understands dogs. He knows exactly how to communicate to dogs that he is in control, so they are able to relax and have fun, knowing he is in charge. Since our Lab pup, Daisy has joined Colin's Pack which is not only great exercise for the furry ones, but also seems to teach them manners and maturity; we've noticed she is a lot calmer and satisfied. She was doing a neighborhood walk with a nice lady and her pack of dogs, but that was not really hitting the spot for Daisy. Colin's hikes are in the hills in a safe natural environment with other very nice dogs. I know he is very selective in making sure all the dogs in his pack will get along with each other. I have to say Colin is kind of like the horse whisperer for dogs. He has a sixth sense and knows how to communicate with them on a whole other level that seems to work very well. I see a very positive change in my dogs maturity since the hikes. My dog very much looks forward to her pack hikes with Colin. My family and my dog are so happy to have someone like Colin and his pack to help improve the quality of our dogs life. read more

It doesn't get any better than Colin and his 2 dogs Samson and Leila. I just finished my first session with Colin and my rescue Pit (Bailey) and WOW, I really don't know how else to put it. First off I have already spent $500 on trainers who come with their treats which ends up working temporarly then you learn that was just a waste of money. After an hour of Colin's time my dog was listening to all of my commands and walking side by side on my terms not on hers. Colin has a way of showing you and your dog "the mission" every time you walk you set your goals and you dictate how the dog is going to accompany you to complete your goal without all of the tugging and pulling you commonly see with other dogs. I have spent hours with other trainers and all of their time did not even come close to one hour with Colin. He has his other 2 pits who are trained perfectly which helped my dog feed off of their energy. Don't waste your time searching for a trainer/dog walker, Colin is a miracle worker and he just knows what works. The best investment I have ever made and I am going to recommend you to all of my friends. Now my rescued pit is going to come everywhere with me without making me look like we are having a tuf of war match. Thanks Colin! read more

As an overprotective dog owner, I searched high and low for someone who didn't simply just offer dog walking services, but someone I could trust.. and in Colin I found more; he truly values (and what I believe to be the most important thing in my dog's well-being), having a balanced relationship with his dogs. What also struck me about Colin- is that he is extremely polite and is open to addressing any concerns immediately and in the most professional manner! Our little man loves his walks and we love that we can trust someone to keep him active and challenged while we are at work. Sometimes Colin will email brief videos of their hikes which always make me laugh at work... my poor co-workers have to endure watching them over and over again! The best part is that Colin manages the pack extremely well and frankly, he works better with my dog than I do. I love knowing that while I'm stuck at work, my little man gets to enjoy the great outdoors off leash, being a dog. And an added bonus to having your dog join the pack (Colin doesn't advertise this, but its true).. is that over time you will see changes in your dog's behavior... and for the better!
