Needed a little coffee this morning and a place to be productive. This was the place! It's tucked away behind a busy street, and stayed pretty busy the entire time I was here. The employees were very friendly, and the Latte with a shot of Amaretto was just what I needed. What I did not need was the Chocolate Croissant but it was very delicious! This is a charming place you want to check out for the great coffee and the nice ambiance. read more

Stumbled in by chance and got a lovely iced honey latte but oh my word... if they have the rose pistachio croissant when you go... get it. Just trust me. Limited seating but located by a lot of other cool places so we got ours to go and walked around. read more

So glad I stopped in to this location of Collective Espresso in OTR!! It is a hidden gem that is super cute. Upon entering, it is a very small shop, but also very clean, with cute decor scattered around. The bar is right as you walk in, with a counter surrounding it for seating. There is an outdoor patio section right in front of the shop too, and a bar area by the windows with barstools to come in and get work done. This time around, I ordered an iced honey and vanilla latte with oat milk. Their syrups are housemade, and they are great. They also steam the milk beforehand for iced lattes which I love. I always appreciate when coffee shops do this, as I normally order iced drinks and it makes the latte taste even better in my opinion. The baristas there are very friendly and kind. I had excellent service while I was ordering and then waiting for my drink. The barista recommended I try the raspberry pastry they had to go along with my coffee since I was looking for a snack, and I loved it! I was able to stay and chat for a while too. I plan on going back and getting some work done the next time I go in! It seems like the perfect place to go and hang out, especially if you are looking for a quieter coffee shop. Would recommend to anyone in the OTR area. read more

A (literal) hidden gem! We happened to be in OH for the first time ever for a wedding with my partner and after a tour around downtown Columbus coffee was very much needed. The shop is located in a small closed/ pedestrian street, right next to a cute mural and across from the pool. Even though it is relatively small, their layout is similar to that of a bar with plenty of seats. There is a cute merch area and our barista (wished I could remember her name) was super friendly and recommended some other places to take pictures around. Their menu is ranges from the standard black coffee and espresso drinks to barista favorites and some Italian sodas as well as some bottled drinks. I am a oat vanilla latte kind of girl where my partner is more of an Americano person and our order (while a bit boring for some) is very standard and easy to find drinks for any new coffee shops we go to. There was a small food/pastry like menu, we didn't really ordered anything then but they looked good! Our drinks were perfectly chilled and not watery (perfect for the hot day) my latte had to be one of my top 5 I've ever drank. It was creamy, not overpoweringly sweet and had enough caffeine to get me going the rest of the day (and help me wake up from all the dancing I did the night before). I stole a few sips of the Americano and while it was a bit too strong for my taste, my partner was pleased and kept repeating that it was ridiculously good. I would recommend if you are in the Columbus area and will come back (hopefully) soon! read more

Quaint coffee shop with approx 10 or so high top chairs. They have cute merchandise that can be purchased and I also saw that you can purchase their coffee equipment. I got a cappuccino and my husband had a latte. No sugar or syrups were added to either and they were both very tasty and flavorful. Compared to other shops, these were probably the best I've had so far. I really really felt like I was drinking a perfect little treat. I was disappointed because they didn't have skim/non-fat milk, I opted for soy milk instead. I was very surprised that they didn't have non-fat milk, I can always find this at other shops. Zieglar park is a few steps away so next time I'll take the kids, grab a cup to go and head to the park once it warms up. To me, this place is a new (to me) Cincinnati staple and the coffee is so very good. P.S. The pastry from silverleaf bakes, pairs perfectly with their coffee. read more

Stopped in on Labor Day and they happened to be open. Right off Main ST in OTR by Ziegler Pool. Not your traditional coffee shop. Menu is very limited, space is very small. The service was GREAT. Very warm and welcoming. Place was busy, but they were fairly quick with making the drinks. Highly recommend stopping in this location next time you're in OTR. read more

They put crack in the perfectly aerated foam of their matcha lattes. I am so spoiled I will never be able to enjoy an unsweetened hot oat matcha anywhere else. Simply cozy and tucked away off of Main Street. When walking down Main St, you'll likely see one or more sidewalk signs for Collective Espresso. Then look down the side street, and say where? Are they just at the event today on Main? No, just walk down Woodward St about 150 feet and you will see it just on your right. The inside has limited seating options, all being high top style or bar top. The menu is simple and each drink that I say ordered was given some latte art. They offer baked goods which are on display when ordering and they are hearty. It's not a location I could visit daily because of parking and general location. But if you are local to OTR commute by some means that's not a car, you may have an opportunity to stop in. read more

I was in OTR and looked up coffee shops and collective espresso came up so decided to head that way, and it was a bit confusing because is tucked in around a corner, so you kind of gaze around. The place is very small and cozy, as soon as I walked in I could smell the coffee, so great! There was only one barista and a long line. Honestly I didn't even mind the wait it's interesting how the barista worked the bar. The shop has a few high top tables and it's pretty comfortable to hang there for a while. The service is beyond average, he was very nice and friendly. I ordered two cappuccinos and needless to say that they were AMAZING, one of the best cappuccinos I've had in Cincinnati. I will definitely go back, and i highly recommend it, it's worth the haunt. read more

My favorite coffee spot in all of Cincinnati / OTR. Relaxed, professional and hip. I can't think of a better way to start my morning. Although I will recommended you take some time and enjoy a coffee there. They sometimes get busy out of nowhere and it can take a bit longer than average. If you are looking for something quick togo and are in a rush I would just stick to Coffee Emporium or (God forbid) Starbucks. I always get the cappuccino or cold brew. The cold brew changes daily so be sure to ask what kind they are serving. Plenty of varieties of milk for all tastes for add ins. The location is non-descript and across the street from the Ziegler Park pool. Also they allow dogs! read more

Collective Espresso is hard to find (maybe on purpose?), but it's worth the trek to get here. It's on a side street off of Main, look for the wooden sign sitting on the sidewalk. Inside there's probably only seating for about 15 people, so this place is intimate to say the least. I would avoid for large groups, but if you're on a date or just need somewhere to read by yourself, Collective Espresso is great! Their coffee menu is simple, no frills. Choose your beans/brew, pick from the standard selection of espresso drinks, or tea. That's basically it, but I love that because I'm a straight up black coffee snob. Coffee roasts are MP, we got a South American roast in a Chemex for $8. Chemex is a pour-over style that produces two 12 oz servings of coffee, which is the perfect size to split between two people. The barista was so friendly, I wish I had gotten his name. My husband and I were planning our next vacation while sipping/snacking, and he offered some friendly tips on places to check out in Asheville if we decided to go there. Our neighbor to the left of us at the bar also suggested a restaurant in Nashville if we went there instead. Like I said, this place is small, so you will probably make friends with your bar mates (I see this as a huge bonus because I love talking to new people!). Overall, a lovely neighborhood coffee bar off of Main St, perfect for solo coffee lovers or couples. Also, they have a cute patio in the back! I'm not sure if it's dog friendly...I'll ask the next time I'm in there. read more

Slightly off the main drag, Collective Espresso was a sight for my rain-soaked eyes! Opening the front door to a welcoming barista, an intimate sitting area with a couple of tables right by the front window, and a quiet coffee shop is exactly what I needed. After being greeted, I was able to set my things down and had easy access to an outlet to charge my computer up and within 45 seconds I was ordering a latte. Sum it up: Friendly, quick service, the drink tasted(and looked) awesome and the room had a great vibe to it - both the look and the smell! There's a cool merchandise area to the left where I was able to pick up a Collective Espresso mug as well as some beans to take home! Theres also some bar seating around the right side of the bar. read more

Came in to Cincinnati on a Friday afternoon and was looking forward to an afternoon latte. Hours showed they were open until 6 so we paid to park and as we were walking to the door, the employee was closing up...at 1:50. Said they closed at 2. Asked if we could still grab a drink and he reluctantly said that he could only offer cold brew or tea. And he was closing. Unfriendly and made us feel we were a burden. We left and will seek out another place on our visits to Cincinnati. read more

This is a fantastic gem in OTR. The expectation for this place was so high because I couldn't make it here although I had wanted to visit here for a long time. I was not disappointed. Well, I was amazed. I think we have some great coffee places in the city, but there is something special about Collective Espresso. I feel like the owners tried to bring a big-city espresso place atmosphere here which I love about of course. I have no knowledge on making coffee and coffee equipment. But they make every drink by hand, and they tasted great. The owners were friendly, and I absolutely love the interior. Collective Espresso will be my new go-to place for coffee whenever I'm around at the area. I can't wait try their different kinds of coffee. read more

This is the best coffee I have had in Cincinnati. They use beans from roasters all of the U.S. The espresso drinks are to die for. Easily the best latte I have ever had. The staff is also wonderful. I've been to coffee shops that claim to be on the same level as here, and generally have found the staff to be pretentious. Not here! Friendly and willing to help if you are a bit confused. I cannot recommend enough. If you want a great coffee or espresso please give them you business. read more

If you enjoy good espresso, this is the place to be. You see many shops have expensive La Marzocco Stradas but I truly believe these guys are really using it to produce top notch espresso. I had a single origin machiatto with Kuma Coffee's Ethiopian Borboya during my short visit. It was incredible. Huge notes of blueberry with a caramel finish. I was sad when I looked down at my cup and it was empty. Sadly, I don't know when I will be able to stop by again since my wife and I were just in town for a day. But I'm so glad that Collectivo Espresso is the shop we got to visit. read more

Gotta update and give them some justice. The last visits the coffee was not sour anymore and the cappuccinos were great! Not sure if it was due to differently roasted coffee or better extraction, but it works! Latte art was amazing as usual, even in a paper cup! How adorable, to see a heart when you open a plastic lid! My friend who lives in OTR took us to this gem of a coffee shop in her hood. Apparently it just opened. Cute little place tucked away on a side street off Main. I don't drink coffee, but I trust her former barista's opinion on this matter: this is seriously legit espresso (yes, here, in Cincy!). I got the chai tea latte, also my usual at Sbucks. But unlike Sbucks they did not charge extra for soy substitution. Win. And what's more, the friendly man behind counter showed me the blend they use (from a company called Rishi's). This spice blend kicks Tazo's butt big time. So fresh, so bold. read more

Tucked away off Main Street in OTR, is this little coffee shop. The sign out front, is plain and hard to make out. It's a sign, but to read it, you must be right next to it. Like they want you to want to stray off the street to see what it is. Inside, an old renovated house has been converted to this coffee shop. Patties, few, coffee much. Seating along a narrow bar on one side and two high top duces up from in the windows. A narrow street of no description and a coffee bar with the same. Clean lines, bare walls and natural lighting. The step up into the structure has a European feel of a small village shop. Espresso is perfect, coupled with a pastry if you like. Served on a diminutive tray. Come here to escape the street, come here to enjoy the coffee. Or both. read more

I was quite privileged to attend the Yelp preview of Collective Espresso and have been stalking their Facebook feed since them to see when they'd open. The day came and the announcement was for the next weekend. I immediately got a hold of some friends and insisted, despite what our weekend held, we make a trip down here. Collective Espresso feels like the Northwest to me. Which is a good thing because as a 'native' there, I miss life there on a more than regular basis. This place reminds me a bit of Stumptown Coffee in Portland, a handful of shops in Seattle I used to frequent, and just a generally good NW vibe. Bless you all for that. I had a cortado and others had hot chocolate. No one left disappointed. At the opening they talked about creating a bar (boozey kind) atmosphere here, in the layout and guest brewers. I was thrilled to see this in action as I leaned against the wall, no need for a seat (as it was relatively crowded). Twenty or so folks came and some went, but it was a comfortable and fun experience getting my afternoon jolt. They serve simple syrup on the bar for sweetness, but most of their drinks stand alone, even if you're a typical cream and sugar advocate. Check this place out. The vibe and energy are great, the drinks are warm and well-crafted, and if you've never been to the Northwest, you might get a little slice of what heaven/life there is like. read more

If you are a coffee & latte lover like me, look no further, this is the place for ya Hands down, best latte in Cincy! It is comparable to some of the best nyc coffee shops (la colombe, stumptown, abraco..). Rich, flavorful and strong expresso, creamy and frothy steamed milk, topped with a nice latte art, perfetto! The staff appears to not be very knowledgeable of the area. - I asked how to get to the bridge to Covington, which is a few blocks from the shop, and apparently has a secret entrance that you need to say the secret word , and since I don't know the name of the bridge (the secret word) - she couldn't help.

The previous staff member who sprayed us brought out the replacement food and rudely served it to us with attitude and without utensils. We had to flag another waiter down for utensils. Mistakes happen but the handling of this situation left a sour note on our celebratory brunch. We expected better service etiquette from Cafe Alma but left really disappointed. I hope management reviews how incidents like this are handled in the future.
