It was nice to step away from phone screens for a bit. This is also where they serve their complimentary, well balanced breakfast from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM. They even have a pancake maker where you can watch the pancakes being made through a viewing window. The fitness center was well equipped and had everything needed to work all muscle groups. I liked that the treadmill is next to the window, allowing you to look out at the mountains while exercising from time to time. They also offer guest laundry for $5 each for the washer and dryer, with detergent available for $2. My clothes came out clean and dry. I did not get a chance to use the pool during my stay, but it looked like guests were enjoying it. There is also an outdoor hot tub, which creates a nice contrast between the cold air and the warm water with steam rising above it. The staff were friendly and patient. They answered our questions thoroughly and helped us feel confident navigating the area. At first, I didn't like that The Lodge was farther from the main village, but it ended up being only a five minute walk to where we needed to go. I would definitely book my stay here again if I have the chance to return to Big Sky.

Our room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was average, although they did have a pancake making machine which you don't see very often. I wanted to get a glass of milk and nothing came out of the machine. I had to get the waitstaff to refill the machine, and then when I went back after they had filled it, the milk was sour. Except for the breakfast experience, our stay was fine. Not sure what it would've been like during the height of the season.

At first glance the rooms…read morelook nice as well, but then you see the little flaws that together add up to a not so good experience. All the lights need to be turned on manually, and even when they are all on it still seems dark. There are no black out shades....so, boom, you get to wake up to full light...no sleeping in here. Every tithe neighbors close the door it makes a slamming noise that goes straight to your bones. Small television inside a wooden cabinet. The shower has some kind of cheese cloth curtain that absorbs then drops all the water on the ground, leaving puddles behind. The bathroom even has a sign telling you to put a towel on the ground. Long story short, updates are needed. I won't go through all the shortcomings of this place, I'll just say it seems a bit expensive for what you get. On the bright side the reception people are very nice and the morning continental breakfast us good enough. It's within walking distance of local restaurants. Last thing I need to say...don't even look at the hot spa on the side of the building.

WE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE PLEASED. Here's what we loved. (1.) We felt like we were really out in the wilderness, instead of a corporate thing disguised as glamping. (2.) The setting was jaw-droppingly beautiful. (3.) Our tent was comfortably and exquisitely outfitted. (4.) We had wonderful privacy and yet the staff was very available, pleasant and accommodating, and (5) The food was really delicious - not too fussy, just really good. The only thing I would suggest is that you request a graphic map with visual markers, mileage, etc., as we felt a little lost the entire time we were trying to get to the site. The staff was very nice in helping us via phone, but we would have arrived more relaxed if we'd been more confident in the route. We will definitely use The Yellowstone Collective Retreat again. Our tent was amazing - very well designed, a comfortable bed, and a beautiful short walk to get to it. Also the food here was great. There's a chef that cooks breakfast (included), and a four-course meal for dinner (extra). Both were excellent. Also as first-time visitors to Big Sky, MT, the staff was extremely helpful in getting us to the best restaurants and nature activities. Everyone working there was extremely nice. However, they seemed understaffed, which obviously isn't the workers fault - they were trying very hard to keep up with interacting with us and the other guests. For such a high-end place otherwise, with a high-end price, I think Collective Retreats should hire more workers.

The staff said our reservation was canceled, which was never communicated to us, and we had no transportation to get anywhere else in the -10° weather. The manager kept repeating herself about saying it was members only (although that wasn't said on Resi), and tried to say there was a shuttle running into town, but there isn't after 5:35. There were 3-5 tables taken and plenty of tables open to seat anyone, and they wouldn't accommodate us with carry out or any food, and asked us to leave after saying that without being empathetic to any degree. How can you stay at a community and not be able to eat at the lodge? Also, they didn't allow credit cards? How is that acceptable in today's age?

If you are looking for an active nightlife, you are probably better served staying in Big Sky village. If you are looking for great skiing, buy an all mountain pass and explore. The Headwaters area is great.
