While their Winnetika location is my local shop, I always try to stop by the NoHo Collector's Paradise whenever I'm in the area. The staff is beyond friendly and, even though this location is small, it has a fantastic array of comics and other collectables. Even with my pull list at their other location, I always find something I have to pick up on my quick visit. They also have fantastic signings here throughout the year so there's a good chance that you can meet either one of your favorite writers or be introduced to your next obsession. My only complaint isn't even their fault & it's the parking. Like most of this area of NoHo, it's all limited street parking with meters or you're going to have to cross your fingers that you can find something in the residential streets in the area. But honestly, it's worth it. If you live in the area and are looking for your new favorite neighborhood shop, this is it. read more

This is difficult for me. I have been a customer for the past 3 years. Since I moved to LA. Everyone I've met there that works there is the best. From Jun to their former manager Zachary to every single employee there. They were so nice to my wife when she was picking up my comic books while I had severely broken my finger. So, the issue. I'll start with the 30 year anniversary contest or whatever that was, of which I won. I was the "Most Valuable Customer", meaning I spent the most in a month long period basically. I won 30% off of any 1 item in the store for a year each month. I used that discount on more expensive items. I even talked to some of the staff about being excited to afford some of the more exciting items. Remember, this is 12 things in a calendar year. I used the discount on Omnibuses, Statues, that sort. One of the more exciting things I used the discount on was the first appearance of Big Barda. The owner's manager at the time reached out to ownership to confirm that he could sell me this comic book which is in a glass case behind lock and key. The owner confirmed that it was 30% off of everything that was in the store. In the store being the conceit. I actually used their website to order a $100 Batman hush figurine. I was told later that we won't be able to honor the 30% off on items ordered to the store. Which I agreed, made total sense. I then used the discount on a graded, signed Jim Lee Hush 2 comic. Shortly thereafter, I was told that the discount did not apply to items in the glass case. Understood, maybe there was some miscommunication. So I turned back to statues, artwork, and cool older comics up toward their like backlog section of the store. I used the discount on the Wolverine 1-5 collection they were selling. This was the original Wolverine comic book. I even bought one of their orange display cases, knowing it would look really awesome there. After this, I tried to purchase another book from that section but I was told that those were no longer a part of the 30% off. Now it was books and weeklies. Okay, so at this point it was near the end of the yearlong 30% off and like whatever. Owner is being weird for some reason, I'll just back off. It's no big deal. More recently, the store has been having a lot of turnover. Which sucks for them, but also isn't that somewhat on the person who hired this new manager. While they were there I had used the website--mind you -- like I had for the past 2 years+ since their new system had been created. During this time numerous comic books that I had ordered on the website just weren't in my pull list come wednesday, which was mostly around when I broke my finger in January It happened again. And again. And again. I was getting every single book I had ordered on the website in the past. The books I ordered, if I didn't receive them on the week I ordered them, they often times would never come. Early on in the process, their former manager showed me how to order on the website. Make sure orders were in on Friday to get them on Wednesday, this became difficult when I broke my finger, but I did my best. Now a few weeks ago, the owner was there and I politely asked when the books I ordered a month+ ago might be coming in. He then blamed me "You're always the last one to make an order, so if its a variant it's not gonna be easy." Okay. Fair enough. He then said he'd ordered them, they never showed up and the new manager he hired was kind enough to track them down and get me a copy. He fired that guy. For the 2nd time in a month he complained to me that I don't get my orders in on time. Even though I'd become more strict about Friday orders. He said I needed to use their Pre-order tab to ensure that I get a copy because "if 4 people order a specific book and I only have 3 then you won't get one" I have 2 kids and it's really hard to be checking the website all the time. Doing it on Fridays had always worked with my schedule So their website is not a preorder website, it sounds like your reserving books. Which if that's the case, then just change the verbiage on your website. I don't think that's the issue. The owner is either a rude, weird guy or he lies. He put me through the runaround during the 30% off thing and then he gaslit me into thinking Id done something wrong in their system. Which if it was the case, why not just tell me from the beginning. Why keep telling me the books were coming when they never were. It seems like the owner is incapable of taking any responsibility and just wants to pass blame onto whomever will take it from him. I recommend going to this store when he is not there. Because everyone is awesome and he needs to take a long look in the mirror because he is so clearly to blame for their recent troubles. I will not be returning to Collectors Paradise NoHo. I'll miss you guys, but I don't deserve to be treated like an idiot. read more

This is one of the most elitist comic book shops in the city. The staff are dismissive at best, and that is if they acknowledge you at all. The stock is about what you would find in any other comic shop, with the added benefit of being more expensive. I came in today, a Monday, to shop back issues, but the back issue bins were blocked, and covered in the new comics due out on Wednsday, with big signs thwt say "do not touch". I would guess this is why every other comic book shop on the planet has limited or no hours on TUESDAY to prepare Wednesday books. Either way, 25% of the store, you know the stuff collectors want, is unavailable to even shop. There are better and more hospitable shops in Burbank. read more

I've put off reviewing this shop for many years, hoping they would figure it out. But they haven't. For a place called collector's paradise, this is a collector's nightmare. Maybe it's because I enjoy buying older issues, but the back issue section of this store is shameful. Always blocked by some table they're setting something up on, always unorganized, lacking variety, and WOEFULLY overpriced. Books that in any other store would be $1-$3 here are $16-$20....what?? Then they have a 1/2 trades section, great, but it's the same damn trades that have been there FOR YEARS, does anyone want to pay $25 for a rough copy of volume 4 of Nexus? NEXUS?? No. I've seen that book in this shop for honestly upwards of three years. This store is just not big enough to be set up so poorly. No diss to the workers, they're always nice, knowledgeable and very patient. read more

Most importantly the staff is super friendly and cool. Small little comic shop we came across while trying to kill time while waiting for our dog to finish grooming. It felt like this was the only shop open on this side of the street. A lot of businesses out here are closed and have been for a while or just don't open till later in the evening since they're bars. My neighborhood comic book store that I pass by all the time but never checked out till recently when I was looking for a gift for a friend, an avid comic book reader. The store isn't big, but it is well stocked and well organized. They have events here sometimes, signings, etc which is cool. The merchandise is nicely displayed and they have a pretty good selection. Glad Collector's Paradise is here, NoHo could use more one of a kind stores like this one, on the artsy side! read more

Love this store so much! I'm so glad it filled the void of Blastoff in North Hollywood. Every time I go in I'm greeted by Kevin who remembers me by name and always has great recommendations. I've just recently discovered my love for graphic novels thanks to Collectors Paradise and I'm so excited they opened another store in noho. The location is perfect for me as it gives me something to do on a Sunday afternoon. Noho is full of fun creative and flavorful shops and restaurants so this is a great fit. It's perfect I'll head to noho go to Collectors Paradise grab a graphic novel and get some lunch somewhere local. Perfect Sunday afternoon! I mean they really did a fantastic job. I could spend hours in there looking at all the cool stuff they have, it's great. I was very impressed, I mean seriously you have to check the place out. As I stated before in beginning of my review I'm a big fan of graphic novels. Each one is different, exciting and reading them is like going on a thrill ride for me. Well Collectors Paradise is my Disneyland (minus the long lines and annoying tourists) there's so much to choose from the selection is great. Now all they need is a Dole-whip and some characters running around. Wait they have a ton or characters in the novels and comics. Wow this place really is my Disneyland. BYODW - Bring your own dole-whip. Ok I'm getting of track again sorry. I tend to that when I'm excited and this place excites me. So let me wrap this up. Stop reading reviews and go check the place out yourself. Get yourself a comic, a graphic novel or five (yes I have a problem) and go see all the cool stuff they have at this store. While looking for one specific novel, Nick who is a deep well of knowledge not only helped me with the one book but recommended so many more. We started coming here since last May for their comic book day and have been faithfully returning ever since. I never write Yelp reviews but I wanted to for Collector's Paradise. I have only been into graphic novels for about a year but I got obsessed with the medium quickly and am publishing my own comic so I wanted to study the medium hard. I had always bought TP off Amazon but eventually I needed to buy single issues. I randomly walked by Collector's Paradise red sign out front and strolled on in. The employee who works there in the day is great. I forgot his name but I will update this when I get it. He set me up with a pull list of the few comics I read. The next time I walked in, he recognized my face and had all my comics waiting for me by the time I reached the counter. I thought he was like Rain Man or something. Not only that but he recognized what others I like, what types of comics I like and gave exceptional recommendations. They also have a great program where if you buy a TP, then 20% of what you paid comes back as credit towards your next TP purchase. I typically buy everything from Amazon, even my groceries, that's the kind of person I am, but I go to this place to buy comics instead of Amazon. I am so proud and thrilled of how this store has turned out. For those of you that don't know, this is the store that replaced Blastoff. Blastoff was respectfully good however, you can DEFINITELY tell a difference in shift for the better. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Most notably is the owner Edward, his enthusiasm and passion for comics is undeniable and transferable. I have seen him make recommendations of new X-Men Comics to a guy who only buys Batman and he bought willingly. Grand opening was a huge success by having the likes Mark Waid and Sam Humpries. Thankfully I was able to get my Kingdom Come copy signed by Mark Waid. Happy to call this place my home store when it comes to buying comics. We went to Collector's Paradise yesterday to pick up some comics for my son. We were so sad when we found out that Blast Off was closing! We loved Blast Off and the amazing people that worked there. So, we weren't sure what to expect when we heard another shop was taking over, but we were very happy that at least there would still be a comic book shop in NoHo. Well, after visiting Collector's Paradise, we are so happy that they have moved in and are up and running in the same space. The shop looks great! The employee who helped us out was very pleasant and helpful. The selection seemed pretty good, and the employee told us there is more DC stock coming in so it should get even better. And, dare I say, I found the decorum and the way the comics and other items were displayed even a bit more appealing than the way Blast Off previously had it set up. We will miss Blast Off, but Collector's Paradise is definitely an awesome comic book shop and a worthy replacement. We will definitely be returning frequently. Welcome to the neighborhood! read more

Including mine, now. Go in and grab a copy of Lost Angels as well as something else. I always recommend finding something outside your normal comfort zone.
