This seems to be more of a card game shop than a comic shop, so if that is your thing, you will probably be happy. I'm a comic reader so I'm more focused on their new issues and trades. The selection for both is not stellar but they are all in excellent condition. The good condition of books might be due to their strict "no reading" policy. I understand that they don't want people pulling a Barnes & Noble by reading books for free. However, I wish I could just look at the first page before buying, so I 100% have to go by online reviews. I want to like this store. They have tons of product and some friendly staff. Unfortunately some of the clientele who play magic are abysmal. They give "warnings" before drafts to take it easy if you lose, it's just a game etc. but some people even when they win are just miserable to play with. Came in here for the first time to get my kid some Pokémon cards. The space is nice, a good size, organized, not cluttered with product, just the right amount of stock. There's a table where you can purchase some items with cash at a discount, but they can take credit cards for everything else. There's a second floor where a lot of people were presumably playing card games. I got some Pokémon cards, which yes, might've been a bit more expensive than other online sources, but not by much. And I appreciated getting legitimate cards and supporting a local business. The kicker was, after I made the purchase, the friendly guys behind the register gave my kid a free Pikachu card. I was looking for a version of the comic book, Heroes Godsend, #5A, which this enterprise had in stock. I ordered it for $4.25. I received an Order Confirmation stating that shipping was free. Two days later I received an email saying that I had to pay $12 for shipping (almost 3 times the cost of the comic). I emailed the order confirmation which showed Free Shipping. Emerald Knights refused to honor what they sent me in the order confirmation. I will not be doing any further business with this company. read more

I will never patronize this store again. I highly recommend anyone interested in any comics, gaming, or collectibles to go elsewhere. You will plainly be more happy and feel like you're treated as an actual person. I've played magic multiple times at this venue and I have never felt welcome here. From original innistrad to more recent sets, none of the staff was welcoming, and it felt like they actively encouraged toxic elements of their local community to take advantage of younger more inexperienced players. Don't bring your kids here. Prizing is also absolutely atrocious and it leads you to wonder if they're simply taking all the product wizards or other company provides them to sell instead of providing it to players. You're not getting your money's worth. What they do have for sale is overpriced and they'll pay you pennies on the dollar for trade ins. Don't patronize, don't bring your kids, don't give them your time or money. Be treated and respected as a human. read more

This local card shop offers a good amount of tabletop game supplies, trading cards, comics, figures and poor attitude. The card selection is quite expansive and the prices, for the most part, are only a little above retail. I know they host card playing events, but the man who is always working is not approachable or friendly enough to get more information. I have never been greeted and barely have I even seen him look up. Once at the register, it almost feels like I'm wasting his time while I'm selecting product. This card shop was one of the participating stores that participated in a Pokemon Championship Series event with a promo card for attendees. I simply asked if the event was still going on and how to participate and the man said "the card isn't given as a sales incentive". This shop is right across the street from where I live, but I would much rather drive 10 minutes to a shop that is welcoming, informative and deserving of business. Two stars purely for selection and play area. Edit 12/6/23. Jason sent a message "apologizing" for the confusion for the Pokemon promo. He proceeded to correct me in my wording of "Championship Series" instead of "League" as if my wording would have been the reason for the poor experience and antagonistic answer. Updated as a rebuttal to the owners response 1 this was a tournament for a wizards event, we should be paying to enter the tournament which again is not supposed to be taxed. If it were just that you sold a pre release pack then even at that point your prices are very much over what many other stores charge. 2 you didn't have the event listed anywhere obvious, I had to ask someone that then confirmed though an email to someone at emerald knights. Also you never announced anything beforehand and no one explained it at all. 3. you gave out promo packs which you receive for free, and you gave out two playmats? So maybe that was your only monetary commitment, which again is absolutely atrocious. You basically saying "you should have known what you were getting into" does not excuse you from fleecing people out of even remotely proper prizing. 4. There have been several instances where players have had to actually band together to request legitimate prizing for participating in a draft event at your store. The ongoing problem I have seen with this store is that you do not get why people dislike playing the tournaments there. You actively ignore suggestions from people who come there to suggest a better Magic experience. You are the owner and have ultimate control over what goes one, and you can absolutely learn a thing or some from other stores that run much better magic events. My review on emerald knights is from a gaming perspective. I do not recommend playing competitive card games like magic the gathering here for the following reasons: They overcharge for entry into a tournament, and charge tax on what should be a non taxable entry They prematurely ended what was supposed be a tournament with a top 8 cut and just four rounds Their prize payout is abysmal. They made us pay 8 dollars more than the average price for entry, which would make you assume they would provide a little prize support, but all they gave out were the FREE items they received to give out. So we over paid for NOTHING. They don't even pay out prizing for everyday tournaments, even if you absolutely won the tournament , you wouldn't get even close to what you paid. I'm lucky I even won one of these prizes, I more so feel bad for the people that won absolutely nothing and still over paid. There is more that I didn't like about this store relationship to magic tournaments, but those are more my opinion. The reasons I listed are far more the egregious advantage they are taking out of the customer base. The rest of the store may be nice if magic is not your thing. But for me that is my primary draw for supporting these LGS's and I will no longer be providing my business to this one, and I recommend you do not as well if you are looking for a place that has a fair tournament structure and prize support read more

I'll come right out and say it. I think charging people to practice their card game per person is very umm " Money grubbing." The owner charges a $5.00 fee per person to play at their store. He is also very rude about it when he mentions that policy. Other card shops in the area don't do that and the larger stores don't practice that scam either. He didn't even have the decency to charge $5.00 for one table and give something like a time limit. I won't be returning here to play casually or any tournament. read more

Have been here only twice and neither visit had been pleasant. You would think upon entering an establishment you'd get somewhat of a warm welcome but that is not that case at Emerald Knights. In my experience every TCG store i've been to has been lively and the people there always seem to have the same interest as you. Here i was feeling unwelcome and seemed like i was bothering the people behind the counter. Aside from that they did have a decent selection of products which i did buy, and yet when i did they didn't thank me or wish me good luck on my packs. After leaving they didn't even say goodbye or come again, which i will definitely not be doing. Hope they up the ante in there because it is dead and i can see why. Please consider being nicer to your patrons and making them feel more welcome in a place where many people share common interest. read more

Was here a few days ago for a card game tournament. It was my second time in the store. The previous time I came the staff were not particularly welcoming and the mtg product was a bit expensive, but I decided to give it another chance. The card game event seemed to be run by a random person playing in it, and the staff were barely interested in the players or event. At the end of the night the prize packs were being handed out when they asked us to immediately exit the store for closing time. There was a line for the bathroom that I was very clearly in. A staff from behind the counter said that the store was closing and asked that we leave. When she looked at the line I pointed in the direction of the bathroom and she announced that the bathrooms were closed and that everyone needed to get out. I (along with some others) left and a staff (who I could only assume was her) immediately locked the door behind us. I get wanting to close during a weeknight, but this isn't how you keep customers, especially in the gaming community. Don't quite understand why they could not wait 5 more minutes for people to finish doing their stuff, they almost seemed upset about having to deal with people. Will not be coming back again. read more

During 2020 I hit a wall of scalpers and resellers for all Pokémon products. Honestly I didn't know where to go anymore until I stumbled across Emerald Knights. Since then, It has been my go to place for cards weekly. They have a large selection of board games, cards, comics, & collectibles. And are far better than getting anything online that may have been tampered with. I am now a member and get the perks of signing up for upcoming items on their wishlist. Just today I picked up my celebrations Pikachu V-union collection. So if you are looking for one thing that may go quick, I highly recommend it. I was impressed! This was a well put together store. They don't have much for board games, but they totally make up in the comic and models collection. Upstairs they have a open board game play area with a modest collection in the library. With only a $5 entry to get up there and play as long as you'd like I thought it was pretty cool. Prices are awful. Staff are not there for customer service. The 3 times I went there to play magic as a new player there were bullys that are friends with the people who work there. Came in here today for a new box for my collection, and the staff was super knowledgeable and answered every question I had! We even chatted for like 45 mins! They understand the frustrations that collectors/fans of the card hobby are currently having and they seem to be putting reasonable limits on their products! I'll definitely be back! Fun place to play games- but the staff... I guess it's hard to find decent help. They're well meaning and all, but they're not too good on the register. A line of 4 people took over 10 minutes to process. Leads to their event starting late. They should be able to run 15 people through the line in 4-5 minutes. The guys working at the sole register. Seemed the least qualified employee was trying to figure out how the contraption worked. Maybe they could do training sessions with mock customers when there's not an event going on? read more

EK has the some of the best gaming space I've ever seen, with an upstairs devoted entirely to playing tables. The staff is always really nice and knowledgeable, and they have a killer snack selection. Their stock of models isn't always great, but they can special order stuff for you to pick up when you come in next week. The crowd there is very personable and kid friendly, and I have met several people that have become permanent additions to my social life. They regularly run events and game days for a wide variety of games and all of them are ran smoothly. This place is awesome! read more

I currently live somewhere that I'm unhappy with the FLGS situation. Fortunately, Emerald Knights is about an hour drive for me so it's close enough that I don't have to totally go without. I've been to the shop twice now, the first time I was taken there so I could see that FLGS can, in fact, embody the Friendly part of the acronym with integrity. The shop was clean, the selection HUMONGOUS, and in general it was overwhelming awesome. The second time I was taken to a miniature painting class, J (or Jay?) was insanely knowledgeable, extra approachable, generous with his knowledge and really a great instructor. It's great to see the owners taking pride and showing their faces 5 days a week, you always have knowledgeable folks to talk to. There were people playing board games while we had out painting class too. I'd love to come back and really look at the minis and maybe try out some games. 10/10 would recommend read more

Emerald Knights is a great place to get together with friends and play some games but the MTG selection could be better. However, if your looking for paints/miniatures or comics these guys have it in spades. Becoming a member is worth the price if you plan on making more than a few purchases throughout the year. Not only do you get a decent discount, they make pre-ordering much easier when your a member. Then you get 10% of all purchases back to spend in store during December. So dope! Personally, I'm usually looking for MTG supplies and these guys always have the basics but don't expect to find to find the higher end accessories here. With that said my wife never has an issue finding fun miniatures or accessories to paint with. Also, once a month they host a painting class to help improve your skills if you're so inclined. Would recommend to all the geeks, like myself, in the area looking for a place to buy those nerdy trinkets you just can't live without. read more

I'm not a gamer but my 10 year old niece has recently gotten into Dungeons and Dragons. I know she wanted some dice for Christmas, so I came into this store looking for some. The guy (didn't get his name) was super helpful and friendly. Recommended a dice tray, but wasn't trying to up sell me on anything. I clearly had no idea what I was doing and he was just explaining to me what the other stuff was for. By no means was he trying to pressure more sales. So of course I bought more stuff! Haha! My niece LOVED her presents and is very excited for their next meeting. The staff here is knowledgeable and friendly (I did my shopping here on Christmas Eve!).
