I just went nuts with photos, and I was so happy that we have the house all to ourselves, so I can roam around, just taking photos, inside and outside the garden. What is there to write about a negative? OK, maybe two, but only because I'm short. The bed was high. (Mine too, at home. But I have a step stool to climb in/out, that helps me). The tub, hubby has to hold my hand, so I won't slip coming out of the tub. Everything else was GREAT & DANDY! The food. The service. The views to the garden and the park. The gazebo. The Rose Garden, the Clematis, the scented Jasmine. It's a HISTORIC mansion! It's my temporary HEAVEN as I am here! Then, I wake up, and we're back home, back to reality, kinda thing!

The bear claw soaking tub along with the lounge couch and starry ceilings were my favorite part! Eli and Emily were awesome. You could tell they loved what they do for a living and the breakfast Emily cooked for us was exquisite. I felt like we were eating food from a fancy hotel restaurant and couldn't have asked for a better way to finish off our B&B experience. After a booking error on our end, the hotel was able to get us a room for Thursday. We thought we had reserved a room for Thursday through Monday. So it was a huge relief to get that worked out. We did have to move rooms Friday, but that's not the hotel's fault. As an EVS worker for a large hospital, I tend to check everything. From high dust to floors and everything in between. I can tell that the employees take pride in their work. So kudos to the Housekeeping staff. Also, to the Housekeeper who found something we had left behind and returned in to us, you're awesome. I wish I had gotten your name. Thank you. Now to the front desk. Monica. Monica, you were always kind, eager to help, and an employee that every establishment desires to have. I know it had to be a crazy weekend due to the college graduations, but you rose to the top and did it with a smile. Thank you. Now the restaurant staff. You all are awesome too. After a couple of disappointing dinners at local restaurants, we decided to have dinner at the hotel. Delicious. The staff was friendly, professional, and our meals were great. Thank you. The views from the rooftop are gorgeous. Parking isn't bad. The rooms are clean. The property is clean. The staff are amazing. Although we no longer have kids in Oregon (two of our kids graduated from Oregon State University) we love Independence and we love the Independence Hotel.

The rooms are in the modern style. The bathroom door is on tracks and slides in front of the bathroom. So not a real door. No sound is contained by it. It has that frosted glass type stuff so any light goes right through. The light is motion activated. So bring some painters tape to cover it at night. And the comments about the bed frame being a toe stubber are very true. Probably the worst bedframe I have seen. The roof top patio was nice, though after dark the bugs take over. You can totally walk down to the water, there are like rock beaches if you know what I mean. So bring a chair and put your feet in. now the bad. We booked one of the suites. The girl at checkin mentioned the hot tub, which you apparently reserve or something. Not sure what that is about. Anyway, I asked if there were any other amenities I should know about, she said no. No mention of the rooftop patio or anything else. That was strike one. We opened the door to the room... it smelled like gas. Like really strong. We opened the door to the patio, and looked around to see if it would dissipate before reporting it. The room felt very claustrophobic. It wasn't bad, but it just felt tight. We went downstairs to report the gas and she tried to tell me it was totally normal and safe. I was astounded. She clearly wasn't trying to pull one over on me or anything she just doesn't have much critical thinking. Apparently the maintenance guy leaves at 4. She said he said it was safe. I asked what his credentials were... she stared blankly at me. I mentioned did a profession service confirm this? She goes in the back to supposedly call him. Comes out and says yeah, some company I forget the name of... I call BS. She was also the only person on staff other than the restaurant staff. So we switched to a two queen bed room, which is what my comments above describe. It was actually nicer feeling than the suite. Not so claustrophobic. I will point out that at no time did she offer anything. And I didn't ask. I don't need a discount, I needed a place to stay. When we went to eat at the restaurant later, they were severely understaffed. It wasn't all that busy, maybe 8 or 9 tables occupied. But there were at least 7 with dishes on them. As far as I could tell, there was only one waitstaff. I assume a cook. And there was a bartender. That was it. The food... well, I order fish and chips. Those were the smallest 2 fish sticks I have seen served as fish and chips. They were fine, but at that size, should have been three. Cook was probably overworked and didn't even notice. All in all, I would avoid this place. Seems like either it is running paper thin on money, so not having enough staff, or it is trying to extract as much money as it can while providing the min in services. The return of the decent breakfast implies it probably is not making enough money, which probably means the service and such will get worse over time.

They keep the rooms super clean and can tell you great places to eat nearby. They have a lovely morning breakfast. It is right near Willamette University and Salem Hospital which is super convenient for those needing to be close by those locations. They have a nice fitness center and an indoor pool which I loved. I love their a 24-hour business center and most places no longer have complimentary newspapers in the lobby, this one does and it was great. They also have nice vending machines and a laundry. It is perfect for business. And you will sleep like a baby, the beds are so comfortable.

Its in a quiet, comfortable neighborhood not far from the OSU campus. This home had all the amenities you would need for a week long stay - fully amenitized kitchen, huge backyard, plenty of room to spread out after a long day of adventure. In addition, the owner will stock light snacks and breakfast items in the kitchen to get your day started, which was a nice touch. Home was spotless and everything worked as advertised. We will use Fernwood again in our travels to the OSU area!

When we arrived we were very pleased with the warmth and pristine condition of the home, its location at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and the overall attention to detail. We appreciated the many thoughtful touches, from the decor to the furnishings to all the little things you need in the kitchen and restrooms to settle right in. The backyard was perfect for our two young children. Alexandra, the property manager, was attentive and easy to work with. Highly recommended!

In fact all the employees were very cheerful and welcoming, darn pleasant. But above all, and far so, is the Japanese garden attached to the hotel. It is worth the trip all on it's own. Spectacular for it's size, only an acre- centered around a gorgeous water feature of a huge koi pond, with many lovely spaces to just chill and appreciate the beauty of the garden.

I was playing no games with the way the universe was talking to me yesterday. No thank you sir. We won't be driving anymore. Not going 50 on I5 for 7 hours. I pulled up hotels on Yelp, and this was the first choice. I thought OMG this has got to be expensive. Nope. Affordable. And VERY VERY nice. I'm INCREDIBLY picky and to say that this was super clean is a lot for me. It's so clean. Modern. Nice. The carpet was so clean that my socks didn't even get dirty walking around without shoes on. The service was great. When we checked in, the woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The staff at the free breakfast were nicer too. I'm vegan and got an English muffin with peanut butter and jelly and coffee with Silk vanilla almond milk. Yay breakfast!! It was quiet, clean, a great price and just what we needed for an overnight stop before we figured out new tires and the long drive to N. California. Thank you Best Western for the overnight respite that was much needed.

It felt like the epitome of an average hotel at the Holiday Inn Express level. It wasn't super fancy or nice or new or fresh, and the person at the front desk wasn't that friendly, but it was fine. The room was clean; the beds were comfy; the front-desk person was efficient and thorough. The parking lot didn't feel sketchy, but since this particular visit, I have learned that almost all hotel parking lots are sketchy. As in don't leave anything in your car--not that I would ever do that. I live in San Francisco! We checked in late at night, slept, and checked out in the morning on our way to Corvallis; so we never really saw the place during the day.

Bathroom was large and the water was super hot. Elevator speed/availability-3-There are two elevators and only one was working, and it seemed to get stuck on floors occasionally. The good news is the stairs are right there and easy access. Gym/pool-5-I didn't use the pool(although many people were) but the gym was very good. The was a full compliment of dumbbells from 5-50 lb., a cable machine, bench, kettle bells, and cardio equipment. Restaurant-n/a none, but the free breakfast was very good. Staff-5-Front desk folks were really nice and helpful. No known benefit if you are a Diamond member which surprised me, I was told that because there is no on-site restaurant there were no a diamond perks...not sure what that means. We selected this property because of its overall location which was not only convenient to family and friends but also extremely convenient for hopping on I-5. We checked in around 3 PM in order to get settled in our room before meeting family for dinner. As always, we appreciate the size and layout of the Home2Suites line of Hilton properties. We appreciate the kitchenette and apartment size refrigerator/freezer, along with ample counter space including two sinks, one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom, and a place to easily set up your laptop if needed. The entire flow of the room works really well for us. The studio suites are large enough to accommodate more than two people, but we've also enjoyed staying in the one bedroom suite which offers even more room and is similar to a small apartment. We learned they opened in February of 2021 and were busy from the start. We were told they initially housed many families that first year who were displaced from their homes because of Oregon wildfires in the area. In addition to being very convenient to I-5, it is also extremely convenient to Highway 22 which runs east and west through the area. As common in Home2Suites properties there is a nice size gym, laundry facility, a better than average hotel breakfast served daily, and this particular property has a indoor pool and hot tub, which makes it nice since it is open year round. There is also a patio area which offers outdoor seating and barbecue grills. Also, every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. But a special shout out to Terrence, who was extremely helpful in assisting my wife with her early morning laundry routine. Our only negative experience was they do not appear to have enough luggage carts for the property. We struggled upon check in and check out to locate a luggage cart, which makes it much easier for us to transport our cooler, which is not on wheels, and of course, helpful with transporting additional luggage.
