My wife has resided at Memory Care at Sage Glendale for several months. Her incoming transition was difficult, as might have been expected. but the staff, especially Thomas, the Director, could not have been more helpful. He understood my wife's anxieties from the start, and assured me that he would oversee her comfort. In the first weeks my wife was confused, not sure why she found herself in a new home. But the staff, so considerate and warm, made her achieving her comfort much easier. Her idiosyncrasies were responded to, and she was gently guided towards the many activities and pleasures of living at Sage Glendale. My experience of the staff is that they are always ready to help, and smile often as they do their work. They got to know my wife quite quickly, and they seem to understand her, even in the confusion of her dementia. Geraldine is one of the med techs who frequently help out. Ditas is also always solve problems and seek solutions. I have called several times, and she and the others always are aware of my wife's whereabouts, and ready to discuss recent occurrences. My wife's needs are met with regularity. And Thomas is a very real, feeling person, who clearly brings himself to the job; he's experienced and maintains awareness of the needs of his staff as well as the residents. I have two family members here. One of which has been here for three years. Sage Glendale started out as a real find. Very pleased. It got even better with a new Executive Director. The food was very good as was the overall facility. Unfortunately they changed Directors again and ultimately the focus changed from assisted living to directed living. The new regime decided that telling residents what to do and when was a viable approach. Obviously it isn't. While services declined from overworked staff, new staff signifantly degraded care and the atmosphere. All while management increased prices and schemed to find additional fees to charge. I will definitely move both family members when I can. Sad really. It was good, I can't recommend it any more. I am paying over15k per month for stress and frustration. read more

I absolutely love this place my mom is so happy here never had a bad experience here. Until i met medication nurse Edith horrible human being. She should not be in healthcare much less caring for the elderly population. If your family member is here please watch out for Edith uncaring brutal person. No compassion at all from her! read more

After 9 months at Sage, we finally had to move my mother in law out. While the place is beautiful sadly the place is understaffed, has a high staff turnover and the menu is static. Phone calls are frequently not returned. Sad to say but we would not recommend this facility anymore read more

Sage is run by a corporation and it is based on one thing: Financial Profit. Although the building is very nice, the staff turn over is huge. Even the supervisors and executives changed several times in the twelve months that my parent lived there. It seemed like they keep the patients overly medicated with anti-anxiety pills to keep them quiet and sedated. My dad was not himself at Sage, he was almost catatonic. When we moved him to a new care facility he regained a lot of his vigor and interest in life. The Sage staff is friendly but training is marginal and none of them seemed to stay for more than six months. It doesn't feel like anyone is in charge and running the day-to-day operations. We cannot recommend this facility. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I came here 3 times to see a patient of mine for physical therapy. The staff from the front desk to the workers upstairs aka the med tech and so called director are so disrespectful it's ridiculous. The only people who are nice are the cleaning staff. I went today to work with a patient and for the 3rd time I was knocking on the door for 5 minutes for someone to open it for me to see my patient. This was after the front desk saw me check in, and they are supposed to call upstairs to let them know that someone is coming up. Multiple times and different days I have continuously knocked for so long until finally someone decided to get off their ass and open the door. This takes time away from me seeing my patient. Today I was working with my patient and not only was the med tech (Hispanic woman) was so rude to me asking which patient I was looking for and as I told her what patient I was looking for, she continued to be very condescending to me. Then as I was working with my patient when another person was knocking on the door over and over again. They continued to knock and knock, But no worker was opening the door. I would have opened it but you need a code for the door. As I got up to let the Director (African American woman) and the med tech know that someone is knocking on the door, the director looks back at me and says "I know, I know" with a big attitude. Her and the med tech were just standing around talking. So I replied back saying "ok because they have been knocking for awhile". As she continues to say "I know, I'll get to them". So i walked away. If someone told me that someone is at the door, I would reply kindly and say "thank you for letting me know " and I would go open the door. I would not respond with attitude and say that I know and then continue to stand in the same spot. So Then she proceeds to walk my way, passing the door even though someone is still knocking, and she proceeds to stare me up and down and walks away. As any other person would respond to disrespect, I said how ridiculous this place was to where she decided to come in my face and start asking for my information. If she was the director she can go downstairs to the check in station and receive all my information . She later called someone else to come and talk to me to see what happened. This person understood everything I was saying about how I was just trying to tell her someone is knocking and how she gave me attitude and then came and dogged me and how she is very unprofessional. After this lady listened and spoke to me with kindness and respect, she ended the conversation by telling me I was right by letting them know that someone was knocking and right about the steps I took to see my patient. She said she would talk to them since that's not how they should treat people and be unprofessional. I said "I bet this isn't the first that you received a complaint about the director " and this lady smiled and we walked back, confirming that this was in fact not the first time of unprofessionalism by this so called director. They don't care about other staff that comes in to work with my patients, they are rude and unprofessional and think they can treat anyone with disrespect. This is not ok and they should not work there anymore. read more

I wish I could give zero because that is truly what our experience was. My father was here for a total of 3 days before we pulled him out. He was in the memory care unit and we were sold a laundry list of empty promises about how he would be cared for. The fact of the matter is that none of it was true. From the staff to resident ratio, meals, even down to the medication. The communication was dishonest and overtly negligent. The final straw was when we discovered that he had not been given his most critical medicine for days because they claimed the doctors orders were confusing - but they didn't even once attempt to clarify or communicate with our family. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and stay away. Al we wanted was our egregious community fee refunded which we were told would be promptly taken care of, but it has been months of silence. No fault of the staff who were trying to do the best with what they had, but truthfully my dad has never been the same. read more

We recently were forced to acknowledge that it was time for my mom to move to assisted living. This is a really difficult process, and if you are reading this, I can only assume you too are looking for a place for a loved one. I can tell you we have been very happy with Sage of Glendale. Mom has been there a little over a month. The facility is beautiful and brand new. I was worried moving mom to a new place because I did not have any chance to see the staff interacting with the residents. Well, I'm very pleased to state that the staff here is Lovely and they interact beautifully with the residents. My mom has been hesitant to join activities but the staff has been supportive of my mom and have been helping her (and us) through this transition. Sage Glendale has exceeded all expectations. My family member acclimated quickly at Sage. The staff is wonderful and each member is genuinely attuned to the residents' needs. They seem to have a great breadth of knowledge from many cumulative years of working in the industry. Not only does the staff make the residents feel at home, but they do a great job of making the residents' visiting family members feel like a part of the community as well. I especially love joining my relative for meals in the restaurant, as the food is delicious for breakfast/lunch/dinner. The building is new, bright, stylish, and clean and the atmosphere is never dull. Sage absolutely made a positive difference in what can otherwise be a stressful transitional time. It's been about a year since my husband first moved to Sage Glendale, and at that time I wrote a rave review - but it's now time to write a follow-up. Let me explain: dementia is a journey, and there are stops along the way where, if all the stars align, and your loved one is fortunate enough to find a supportive and sheltering place, they can be at once protected while free to live as fully as possible for a time. For my husband, Sage has been that place. My husband spent the past year in the open, unlocked assisted care wing of the facility, free to come and go and take a walk whenever he wanted, visit the community pool and the library just blocks away, and go to the mall. What a gift. A couple of weeks ago, it became apparent that it was time to move him to Sage's memory care wing, where he could be even more secure and looked after. The sensitivity and care of all the staff during this transition was remarkable. I'm so grateful to Elizabeth Whittington, director of the facility, for her keen observations regarding my husband's sudden change in condition and her conscientious care. Kendra Williams, the director of the memory care unit,has done everything she could to make it a painless change, as did Skylar, Robin, Cinnamon, Kim, Rhoda, Evelyn, Angelique ... everyone cared and everyone helped.
