I stopped at Colonial on a whim because I was driving by. I was in the market for a new car, but I hadn't driven many cars yet and wasn't at the point where I had to buy a new car. Jim McLoughlin greeted me. He was friendly, helpful, and patient through 2 test drives and a load of questions. I left the dealership on Saturday without purchasing the car. Jim called me back on Monday, and by the end of the day, I had purchased the car. They worked with me to get me to a price point I was happy with and were friendly throughout the process. They also had to find me the exact car I wanted as they had none on their lot. The sales manager, Mike, and finance manager, Shaune, were both also pleasant with which to deal. The help must be underpaid, as I find them all rude and off-putting (with the exception of some of the service writers). The salesmen will hold tight to their high prices on new cars and trucks. I recommend shopping around for a much better price on a new car or truck. There are much better dealerships that offer great dealer discounts on new vehicles. read more

Be aware if you buy an extended warrantee from these folks and your car breaks down out of state the warrantee company and the dealer will not help you with a rental. fact it took two days and over the weekend for the warrantee company to approve the cost!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALER!!!! Our 2012 Traverse' radiator went out at 36, 406 miles in New York 3 1/2 hours away, it was towed to a ASE mechanic only to have to wait to have the part shipped in from the manufacture. The warrantee company refuses to provide any assistance to a rental car, guess they figure one could sprout wings and fly back and forth. The dealers answer was sure we will give you a loaner (after a week and returning to MA) but don't know how you're going to get your rental that you purchased out of pocket back to New York, thanks Rob great call and what a great management team they have there!! read more

Absolute nightmare of a company to deal with. I know this is a bit wordy, but if you're thinking about doing business with Colonial Chevy, I highly encourage you to read my story so that you can better prepare yourself for how they treat their customers. This April, I purchased a used 2012 Volt (electric vehicle) from Colonial Chevy in Acton, MA. By law, this vehicle came with a 30 day dealer's warranty which would repair any issues with the car. In the first 2 weeks of owning the car, I noticed that the heat did not work while the car was in electric mode. No matter what, the heater would only blow ambient temperature air. I made an appointment with Steve in the service department to bring the car in under warranty to have this looked at. A day later when I picked my car up Steve let me know that they ran diagnostics on the car and everything was performing fine, and no repair was needed. I asked why the heat didn't work in electric mode if everything was fine, and Steve ensured that the heat just doesn't work as well in electric mode as it does in gas mode, but it is working. I told him that I'd done my research online and that other Volt owners reported that the heat will work in electric mode and it will be noticeable (as opposed to the ambient temperature air it was blowing). He went on to tell me that the electric heater only works when the outside temperature is below a certain threshold. When I got home, I searched online for any proof of this bizarre sounding claim to no avail. Anyways, I decided I'd give his claim a shot and would see if it was true come winter. Surprise surprise, still didn't work in the winter time. This week, I brought the car back to the dealership citing the exact same problem that I had when I first bought the car. This time (no longer under warranty which they would have to pay for), they quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty cabin coolant heater. According to the service rep "the sales team was not able to approve funding for the repair, and it would cost me $1200" and he also reminded me that if I had purchased their $3000 two year warranty it would have been covered!!! I spoke with John Woodland, the General Manager about this issue, and inquired as to why they could not approve funding. He came back with "if it wasn't fixed the first time, why wouldn't you have brought it back till now?" I replied that "your technicians ensured me that it simply would not work until it was cold out, as it only operates below a certain temperature threshold." and he told me that sounded ridiculous and he would go ask if any of them told me that. Guess what? When he asked if any of the tech's remembered telling me that, they all denied it. So rather than owning up to the situation, he accused me of lying. He did offer to slash the $1200 bill down to $600 though!! As I continued to argue with him about why I didn't think I was being treated fairly, he reminded me (typing in caps to reflect the literal yelling into the phone that he was doing) "LOOK DO YOU WANT ME TO HELP YOU OR NOT, I'M NOT OBLIGATED TO DO ANYTHING FOR YOUR CAR TAKE THE $600 OR LEAVE IT THIS IS A VERY GENEROUS OFFER!!!". So now he's accusing me of lying and trying to force my hand to accept his "generous" offer of $600 to repair something that should've been handled 6 months ago. Oh, he also let me know that they didn't have to do anything about the heat at all from the start, as the 30 day warranty only covers safety related issues. I argued back that this is a safety issue, since I wouldn't be able to defrost my windows in the winter if I wanted to charge my car (isn't that the point of buying an EV?). My mother just purchased a beautiful 2017 Equinox from David Fillmore. Transaction went smoothly, it was a good deal (as good as new cars deals go) and she loves her vehicle. She will have it serviced through Colonial Chevrolet as well when needed. Overall good experience. We just bought a new car here, a Chevy Cruze. It's our first experience at this dealer and our first Chevy. First, the car is great, I'm happy the US Brands are building world class products now, for real. Also, the sales experience was excellent. Our salesman, Luke, was enthusiastic and always had a great attitude. He helped us when we needed it, without any pressure, and was patient through our many test drives. I think he's more of a "car guy" than a saleman, he just loves what he's doing and that comes through. In the end, we got a fantastic price on the Cruze, and it was very smooth closing the deal and the car was immaculate when we picked it up. Dealing with the sales manager and finance manager was great too, there was no pressure, and they met every commitment they made as a team. I haven't had any experience with the Service department yet, so we'll see how that goes after the car gets it's first service. read more

My 2003 Accord died and I got a very good deal from the guys at Colonial. I purchased a used Nissan Altima that I thought was very fairly priced. They gave me a good price for my trade - even though it was mostly dead - and treated me and my wife very, very well. Don Sanborn was my sales guy and he was great...easy to talk to and knowledgeable. Although I hope I don't need a new car for a while, I would definitely go back when it's time. read more

False advertisement. I was thinking about selling my truck and just happened to notice an email from Colonial Chevy about an an offer of 110% the Kelly Blue Book value. I went in and their kbb value was about 5-6K off from what I looked up. When I got home with the paperwork they gave me, I noticed up a truck with 2WD, a 5 ft. Bed, and no remote start. I have a 4WD, 6 ft bed and remote start. Even when the dealer said they upped the pricing beyond the 110 percent, it still wasn't as much as it's true kbb value. Ended up going to Carmax in Westborough and they offered more than Colonial's max offer. Save yourself a trip and go there instead. read more

This was my first time purchasing a car. They were great with hekping me get approved for a loan and getting the title as quick as possible. Unfortunately, they didn't keep up on most of their side of the deal. Three out of the four tires on my car has chunks missing out of it that they claimed they would replace. I realized the night I picked up the car that they had not replaced them. I called and they claimed that only one tire was to be replaced when CLEARLY three of them had issues. My boyfriend brought the car in to get the tires and turns out they hadn't even ordered them yet! He sat at the dealership for 4 hours just to come find out they ordered the wrong tires. The service worker said they were basically the same tires but it turns out they were $50 cheaper than the ones that were already on my car. I would be losing out on $150 if my boyfriend allowed them to put the tires on (which he did not). Also, when I test drove the car there was floor mats for the car in the trunk, now they are no longer there and the claimed that they never were! You think that after all of this they would give me free ones at this rate!! I am definitely not satisfied with the outcome of this purchase. read more

We saw a used Camaro convertible with 17,000 miles, on their website, went to Colonial, and took a ride in it. The vehicle had some obvious issues, esp. a strange smell inside. The vehicle was brought to my mechanic and the list he provided of problems was an eye -opener. It had been in an accident not listed on CarFax, has 2 new rims and tires on one side, and original rim and tires on the other; and a roadway/driveway reflector and post were found wedge up at the transmission. The floor and carpet was wet on one side of the vehicle (which caused the weird smell); they tried to hide the fact that there was water damage and admitted to this, after we told them about the numerous issues with the vehicle. How can a brand name car dealership sell a used vehicle with this many problems that they failed to address? BUYER BEWARE Don't become a victim of their dishonesty. read more

I have been a customer at this body shop for 20 years, they must have had some change in ownership and Management, the last two car repairs have been disasters. Their customer service is awful, they are very difficult to deal with and have attitudes. I was in a fender bender the insurance estimate was $1,500 once I left the car at Colonial it went up to $ 4,000. The paint job was mismatched so bad the front of the car was a different color and had to be repainted 3 times. After the third time they told me " I think we created a problem we should leave alone ". Then I had to get the insurance involved for a total of 4 repainting. A few months later my wife's car that was fixed here the year before had paint peeling off the molding and bumper.... I had to have it fixed at another shop. This shop made a stressful situation so much worse... The mechanical repair was fine but the paint was so bad instead of dealing with the stress of their poor workmanship, customer service and attitude I sold the car. read more

Appalling and flagrantly dishonest work from the body shop. My son had a new bumper painted here and it was scratched twice over the new paint before it even left the body shop. He refused to take it and they said they would repaint it. He left the state and I went to pick up the twice painted bumper for him. When I get it back home, what do I see? Two scratches over the new paint. I contact my son and he sends me the original pictures of the first paint job while it was still in the shop. Identical scratches. They lied to my face about repainting this bumper. Disgusting, hack, and morally reprehensible service. read more

My car was towed here after an accident. I was from out of town and was told that the repairs would take 2-3 weeks. I struggled greatly with contacting anyone at the shop who had information about my vehicle, was relayed misinformation several times, did not have my calls returned, and was never given a deadline that could be kept. Colonial Chevrolet had my car for 7 weeks and on the day that I picked it up, there were still problems with it that I (obviously) chose to repair elsewhere. read more

Though the car was an off-brand for this location, he was very knowledgeable about the features and able to point out many things I hadn't even uncovered in my research. We ultimately did not move forward with the vehicle due to the options, but every aspect of our negotiation including a very fair price on the car and for my trade was top notch. Worst service department I've dealt with. I was told that they would call and let me know the status of my car at least 4 times and never received a call. They charged me $770s for fixing the wrong thing and another $400 for replacing a coolant sensor and a harness that would have cost me less than $200 elsewhere and I was out of a car for the whole month because that was how long it took for them to figure out the problem. They told me everything was fine after they did long test drive but when I came in to pick up my car, it died on me 1/2 a block from the dealership parking lot. The whole experience was horrendous. I would not go back to this place for any reason nor recommend this service department to anyone. Very disappointed. read more

The salesperson is Jim. Jim is symbolic of the small time and out of the way town location by his grumpiness and unpleasant. Jim won't listen however pressures people to take or leave anything he says. The internet sales people are the worst. I 'm being talked around by Tania and some Thomas. I have not dealt with Service yet and im hoping I have a better experience then the folks who reviewed already. I did buy a Silverado here and dealt with Luke who was great and very polite, new a lot about the truck i was interested in and generally was an easy no pressure type of sales person to deal with. I would not hesitate to deal with him again as a salesperson. Shaune was real nice as well in the Finance office and he did do a good job a finding good rates for me to choose the right lender. The only drawback I encountered was there still is a mound of physical paperwork that needs to be addressed and scoured through to make sure things are accurate. They could stand to upgrade to a less paper intensive system like some other dealers i have dealt with when I bought my last car. But that isn't the employees fault, that is a company system and process they are saddled with currently. i hope to be able to give a good review after i deal with service. Cheers. read more

This was the most pleasant car buying experience I have ever had. Bar none. I purchased a 2013 Volt via a price request on their web page. Jim Keefe dealt with me via email and gave me what I consider a great price right off the bat. I had a few dealers that quoted me the full MSRP minus the $7500 federal tax credit. Very misleading and dishonest. Jim gave me my price, showed me all the rebates available and quoted me a bottom line price with the rebates and special financing included. I did have one dealer beat them by $54, but by the time I had spent getting jerked around by the other dealer I was more than happy to give Colonial the extra $54. In fact, at the last minute the other dealer dangled another $300 in my face but life is short, I am not going to reward bad behavior, instead I am going to reward an honest, straight forward dealership. The other dealer told me they hated losing a deal to Colonial and that Colonial was going to hard sell me and push extras on me to pad the deal. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, I never set foot in Colonial. That's right, Mr. Keefe brought the car to my house. After spending an hour signing on the dotted line and going over the feature of our new car, we headed down to our Town Hall where Jim helped us with the paperwork and put our new plates on the car. My car was dying and I made it to colonial within in seconds of it completely dying. It was a busy Thursday morning in the service department but they squeezed me in and fixed my car within 2.5 hours. The wait wasn't the best, but it was an unexpected visit and they took care of me as quickly as they could. The cost of the repair was expensive, but my car was not making it off the lot unless it was being towed to a junk yard. Let's hope the repair keeps me on the road. read more

During state inspection brakes failed. just had done 9000 miles ago! service says have to be done! job done - driving home noticed tires making thumping noise - not there before. went back and was told needed 2 new tires! just passed inspection!!
