We enjoyed our stay while at The Colonial Inn. We stayed in a large suite, with couch, King bed, and a view of the ocean. Everything was clean and comfortable. There was a nice large shower in the bathroom, along with a pedestal sink, and a cabinet to store your toiletries. We had a mini-frig and coffee maker in our room. In the Lobby there's a seating area, dining tables, games, puzzles, and a few books to read. Outside, there are rocking chairs all along the deck, plus more dining tables. The pool and hot tub looked very nice, although we didn't use them, but others were enjoying them and the lounge chairs on the pool deck. The staff were friendly, and provided little extras, such as fresh-baked cookies each day, water, coffee, snack bags. The Continental Breakfast was easy and just right amount of food first thing in the morning, before heading out for the day...a nice selection of hard boiled eggs, bagels & Cream Cheese or peanut butter, toast, pastries, fruit, cereals, milk, juices, coffee, tea, and Hot Chocolate. It was an easy walk down to the shops on Shore Rd, Main Street, and Beach St that takes you out to Ogunquit Beach. If walking is more of a challenge for you, the Trolley stops right outside of the Inn. The path leading to Marginal Way is right next door, as well. Not a criticism, but just full transparency...this is an OLD building that's been updated, but the floors still creak, and are slightly uneven. We highly recommend The Colonial Inn, and will revisit in the future. read more

Everything pretty much met expectations on our arrival. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the Marginal Way, Perkins Cove, Ogunquit Center and lots of good restaurants if you like to walk like we do. The historic Inn is impressive and the Staff was helpful during check-in and our room was as expected...thanks to our previous conversations with Ashley. We selected a room in the Shorebirds building mainly because of the private balcony and we were happy with it. The welcome set-up with artistically folded towels and flower petals was a very nice touch. We got a chance to check out an upgraded room in the main building and appreciated the historic vibe there and beautiful appointments. We'll probably select an upper floor room at the Inn on our next trip. The continental breakfast included during our stay was pretty good with hard-boiled eggs, cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, juices and fresh muffins and breads. We took advantage of the breakfast most mornings. The gentleman that took care of the breakfast room was a real sweetheart and did a great job. The lobby was a great space for hanging out or enjoying breakfast and the wrap-around porch was beautiful for the same purposes. Parking was an issue on some evenings when the property was full, but we always found a space. We didn't have a chance to use the pool or fire pit during our stay, but others were having a great time and the pool area was very well maintained every morning. We really enjoyed our stay and there were only a few minor issues preventing a five star review, like a couple of less-experienced staff members at the front desk at times. They tried hard and still got the job done with some effort. There was some evidence of wear and tear around the property, like some trim and decking needing fresh paint, all very minor, but worth a mention. Our highlight was the welcoming spirit and the thoughtful care we received from Ashley, the assistant manager, who made us feel like family every day. What a difference she makes! She's a great host and a very authentic and caring person. We'll remember her most of all. read more

So glad I found this place!!! It is in such a great location, plus it has a small pool, hot tub and firepit. We sat by the firepit our first night for several hours and had some great conversation with other guests. It was so lovely. It was pouring rain our second day, so I sat on the wrap-around porch all afternoon just reading and listening to the rain. Then they put out fresh cookies!! The staff is all very courteous but stays out of your way. The breakfast is basic, but it satisfies and eating on the porch is lovely. The only downside for me, was hearing people walk around and move the porch chairs at super early morning times. It was very loud and disruptive to my sleep... next time I'll ask to be on the other side of the building. But we would def stay here again!! read more

This was our first time at this hotel and found it to be in one of the best locations for the price. The rooms were spacious and clean. It is close to the center of town and the beach. Trolley stops at the front door. The continental breakfast had everything we needed and it was great to sit outside or on the porch to enjoy it. We loved the outdoor gas fire pit at night after a long day at the beach. We wanted to stay an extra night but they were booked. The only cons were a small pool and the Breakfast Room needs an additional toaster because it gets busy sometimes. read more

I had asked for accommodations for my medical dietary needs. I was informed that they could do nothing to assist with those issues. Other inns had been very accommodating. The resort is dated. Incredible. Our favorite spot in Maine. The inn is very cozy and charming. Service is always great. The building was an old inn that's been very nicely renovated. The lobby is relaxing and comfortable with seating areas for up to 20 people I'd say. There's games and cards for visitors to use. The porch is a great feature. We enjoying grabbing a coffee and just relaxing for a few minutes. Theres a solid continental breakfast each morning with fruits, cereal, yogurts, muffins and bagels. The inn also has a pool and jacuzzi that I enjoy visiting. As far as location, this spot is right within walking distance to the downtown, the beach, marginals way and Perkins cove. It's about a 13 minute walk to the beach (0.6mi) which could be a bit of a haul for someone who's not the most mobile. Several nice restaurants all within walking distance. We really enjoy just parking the car and making this inn our home away from home. Rooms are relaxing and the beach and nightlife is within walking distance. A+. We had a superb experience at the Colonial Inn. We visited in the off season so it was pleasantly quiet. Upon arriving, we learned that our room would be upgraded since the staff knew we were visiting Maine to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. The room we were placed in had to be the best in the entire inn! It was right at the front of the building, very top floor. When we walked into the room we were WOWed by the view!!! It was spectacular! Four large windows gave us the view of the entire coastline of Ogunquit Beach. The staff was attentive. The entire inn was clean and well maintained. Nicely updated. Comfy beds. Lovely bathrooms. A beautiful continental breakfast spread was available every morning in the Breakfast Room and coffee is available 24/7. We decided to indulge on Congdon's Donuts late at night and wanted a cup of decaf coffee to accompany our treat and sure enough, we didn't have to go far. It was available for the taking right in the lobby. What a nice treat on a chilly Maine night. By the way, the front porch is the perfect place to sit and relax or enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast. The Colonial Inn is very close to the beautiful Marginal Way which you must take advantage of while in Ogunquit. Breathtaking views of the rocky coastline. It's also walking distance to shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors, lobster shacks, cafes, trolley stops and Perkins Cove. So many perks to staying in this centrally located spot if you love to walk about the town. My husband and I highly recommend this inn and hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did! read more

Our party of 3 couples stayed at the Colonial Inn for our first visit to Ogunquit. There is a lot to like. The inn is immaculately maintained. The common spaces and porch are very conducive to hanging around. There is a grand piano in the common room that we took advantage of. The rooms vary, as you might expect. They all have extremely comfortable beds, quiet air conditioners and excellent showers. The staff are cheerful and accommodating. The breakfast is great and the coffee is really good. The only real big negative is that it's not on the water. Another thing to note is that the floors are creaky. If you are a light sleeper, I would suggest a room on the fourth floor of the main building, so you aren't awakened by the nocturnal activities of the people above you. The Colonial Inn is a comfortable base of operations for a vacation in Ogunquit. read more

I made a reservation here for August 5 through August 10. It was for a summer romantic getaway. Luckily for me my girlfriend could not attend. I was in the guest house room 504. Please do not waste your money. I paid almost $350 per night for a room at best worth $100. Terrible layout, dingy worn out furniture that looked like it was picked off the side of the road. Seventies styled wallpaper and hideous oak cabinet. The TV was newer, but small. The bed comfortable and the hotel in an ideal location. The small pool area is unimpressive. I was disappointed and cannot recommend this hotel. The lobby area is decent, but the front porch ceiling needs a coat of paint. The front desk people were nice and friendly, but save your money and go someplace else especially if you wish to impress and relax. Just a disgusting hotel. Room smelled like vomit and the breakfast was terrible. My wife and I asked to have the sheets changed, but I don't think that was done. When I complained, they said it was the "paint" from re-modeling the room. I'm not sure what paint smells like vomit. Then, I called back after I returned home, and they said I didn't do anything to bring this to their attention when I was at the hotel, which is just a flat out lie. No matter what time my family and I went to breakfast, it always seemed to be picked over and a mess. Wi-fi never worked properly. I have stayed her twice so far, it is very nice. If I can suggest couple of things. It would nice to have bucket of ice upon arrival. The ice machine is outdoors and for some rooms it is a distance and if when had bad bather that would be a problem. The other comment is the breakfast room is way to small for that size hotel. There is limited seating although there is other seating around the hotel but again in bad weather that would be very crowded. This hotels value is out of this world. Quaint, cheery, and perfectly located. The lobby really sets the tone with its decorative use of pale aqua, seafoam green, and bright whites. The hotel offers a superb continental breakfast on a patio that you can practically hear the ocean from. Marginal Way which is one of the most magical costal walkways I have had the pleasure of perusing is right behind the hotel. Although the hotel is not technically water front there are beaches galor within a brief walk. Also, quaint and elegant eateries line the the street that the hotel sits on. The pool is adequate and pleasant to the eye. Treat yourself to this delightful property, it is one of the most affordable in the area without skipping on a luxurious stay. read more

Think twice about going to this hotel. I won't go into all the details but we were not given the room that we paid for back in March, 3 months before our stay. We booked a room at the inn but through a lot of issues, we were moved to the Garden Building. The Garden Building is nowhere near a garden. It is a dump. The picture shown on the website is not what the rooms looks like. They look bright and airy but in reality are dark and dank. The only renovations that were done were in the main building. The furniture was plastic coated, the curtains were also plastic, the beds were not queen size but full size, the drains in the shower and sink had to be held to drain the water, the shower head was immovable, there was no cover on the toilet, the screens were falling off the windows and there was black mold on the window seals (this I did not see until I took pictures before we left). The plug in the bathroom is put in backwards so forget about drying your hair in the bathroom. When I cleaned the room with Lysol wipes, there was dirt on every surface I cleaned. I had to skim the pool each day because the filter was not working fully. I saw the rooms at the main building and they were nice although my friends said they were just ok. The breakfast was lacking and there was never enough food unless you went when they opened. I will say that the chocolate chip cookies were delicious, if you could get there in time to get one. The indoor space at the inn was a nice place to gather as well as the veranda. But if you are going to stay there, insist on staying in the Inn. It is worth the additional cost. The property and other buildings are not well maintained which is a shame because there is a lot of potential at this inn which is in walking distance to everything. The staff was helpful, especially Phillip, who made sure we were taken care of as much as he could. read more

Just stayed at this hotel for one night with my fiancé. It was our first time to Ogunquit, and we were looking for a relaxing night away. We arrived around noon time to the hotel, and went inside to make sure it was okay to leave our car in the lot while we walked around and explored before check-in at 3. The people at the front desk were so sweet and so helpful giving us a map of the area & circling important stops. They gave us a parking pass, did a pre- check in and told us they would call us when our room was ready. Our room was in the main building and was a decent size. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the room was clean and updated. Very cozy-beach feel. Everything is in walking distance (the shops, Marginal Way, Perkins cove, Ogunquit beach). And there's a trolley system that gets you any where you wanna be for just $2 a ride. The pool at the hotel was a good size, warm and clean. The hot tub was a nice amenity as well. I highly recommend this hotel! While you're in Ogunquit try Barnacle Billy's, Gypsy Sweethearts rooftop bar and definitely take a stroll down Marginal Way! read more

All we were looking for was a bed and a shower . What we got was a bed and an attitude from the manager . After complaining to the Manager that there was no water/water pressure for a shower, the manager blamed it on the town system. No one else seemed to have raised the issue, leading us to believe that it wasn't hotel wide. When asked for a discount, the manager argued that it wasn't the fault of the hotel. Great hotel, A+++ experience. From the moment we walked in the staff was great. When we told them this was our first time visiting Ogunquit they spent time telling us about the different places to go. They gave us recommendations and made us feel like they truly were there to help us. The hotel is within walking distance of everything and that was a HUGE benefit. The room was nice and always cleaned before we returned from breakfast. While we were in an end room, the road noise was limited and we had no issues sleeping. My only disappointment was that they had no fridge in the room. If you had left overs or a beverage you wanted to keep cool, you were out of luck because there were no in room fridges. read more

Based on our stay in the main building , had two very different rooms, one very nice clean but small on the top floor (4) with a nice large bathroom , comfortable bed. The other on the 3rd floor a much larger room with an ocean view and sitting area. You can hear people walk around above you but I think you get used to it. They have a nice lobby area and wrap around porch where you can order beer wine and mixed drinks from front desk staff , and a small breakfast area for a snack of pastries, cereal, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, fruit , coffee juices. Location is amazing in the middle of town and Perkins Cove walking distance to anything. Pool and Spa looked nice although we didn't use. read more

Let me preface this by saying if you looking for modern this and up-to-date that, you will need to pass on the Colonial Inn. This old gal is around 125 years old and yes, in some places she shows her age. The rooms are on the smallish side, some boards will creek when you walk over them, and yes, the floor may even slant a bit. The good part of the property is that it is literally a 3 minute walk to the center of town and access to the Marginal Way is less than a minute. The lobby and sitting area are comfortable and welcoming.. a place where you can meet other people if you choose to, or use the house wi-fi for the techies that have to get their computer fix. There is a continental breakfast served which is not elaborate but can set your morning off right for a day of fun in and about town. Oh yeah, there is a pool (not heated) and some parking which is a huge bonus in this town. There is very, very little street parking in town, so you are better off ditching your vehicle and walking to everything or getting on the seasonally run trolley outside the front door. Stayed here with my mother and sister for 3 nights. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and a good size. It is also close to the Marginal Way, although it does not have the views of the water that many other nearby hotels have. The included continental breakfast left a lot to be desired-basically just pastries, coffee, juice, and fruit. Some bagels and several cereal choices would have been nice. What a delightful hotel this is! We've been coming to Oqunquit for many years, but it was our first stay at the Colonial Inn. The hotel has been recently remodeled and has a truly comfortable and relaxing beach feel to it. Our room was spacious and included a refrigerator, microwave and coffee, plenty of towels, soap, etc., and a comfortable king-sized bed. The staff was polite and extremely accommodating. They were able to help us out with anything we needed throughout our stay (wine glasses, kitchen implements, an umbrella, and more). Perfect location-a short walk to Perkins Cove, as well as the center of town (and importantly, the short cut to the beach), and the trolley stop is right out front, too. I know we'll stay here again, and until then,we'll treasure the memories of this year's vacation at this beautiful hotel. read more

Please don't waste your money at this "Inn" while spending some time in Maine this last week my partner and i decided to give this 'Inn" a try. The website was very nice and everything seemed great, upon arrival we were greeted at the front desk lobby which was more like a hotel lobby rather then an Inn lobby. during check in we were told our room was in the 'Guest house" part of the inn. the receptionist took us on a walk to a very old and not well taken care of motel looking building, our room was that of a cheap motel! please be ware, the "Guest houses" are really motel rooms. after talking with the manager they moved us to the main house the next night which wasn't any better. the breakfast was that of a low priced free motel breakfast. I would never stay here again nor would I ever recommend anyone to stay here. Save your money and stay anywhere else. read more

I returned to The Colonial Inn for my second visit of the summer. This time I stayed for two nights. I was welcomed back like family! The front desk team including Pavel, Treynae, Phillip, Taylor, and Ricardo are all so friendly & helpful; and will do anything to make your visit wonderful! I travel frequently and they are truly some of the best in the business! My lovely room on the 3rd floor (304) had a gorgeous ocean view, a spacious bathroom with shower/tub, and the MOST comfortable king size bed with 9 pillows. When I woke up each morning, I simply glanced out the windows to see the ocean in the distance. It doesn't get better than that! The breakfast has nice choices: hard boiled eggs, yogurt, yummy mini muffins & croissants, steel cut oatmeal with toppings, etc. I brought my tray outside to the spacious wrap around porch and relaxed. The heated pool and jacuzzi are wonderful. I can't wait to return to The Colonial -- the best hotel in Ogunquit! read more
