Avoid this place at all costs!!!! My mother lost 20lbs while she was there. None of the staff…read moreinformed me she was losing weight. Food was terrible and obviously they don't monitor nor care if they are eating or not. Had a large bruise on her arm that none of the nurses documented so nobody seemed to know what it came from. Director of nursing never addressed my voicemail or email with photo of it. Knowing she was confused she was left unattended in a room and fell out of her wheelchair. At the time she fell I was in speaking with admin about all my complaints about the facility and this large bruise. Can you believe the unit director had the nerve to ask me if I had thought about where I would place her if she ever needed long term care? My answer, well certainly not here! It's all about keeping beds filled there for profit. They didn't even want to send her out to get checked after falling until I said I want her checked! I guess they were afraid they would lose money for the day since it was still before one o'clock and they knew I wouldn't let her come back after all this. ED said she was malnourished, electrolytes were off, dehydrated, wbc was up and she had a uti. Funny the nurse practitioner had just told me earlier in the day her bloodwork looked pretty good. They lie. My mother suffered a concussion from the fall, severe back pain and a laceration to her arm. They blame everything on being short staffed. Well if you can't have enough staff for all the patients then stop taking more people in. Oh no you can't do that because it's all about the mighty dollar. They don't care about the patients/residents. Don't fall for their talk. They are good at "lip service". Actions speak louder than words. Horrible place. Ask around. Hospitals and a lot of the people in the community know how bad it is. Thankfully I was able to get her out of the hospital and found a caretaker for my mother for when I'm at work and not there to take care of her. She is home now and doing well. Maybe the fall was a blessing in disguise. I really feel if she had to stay at Manorcare any longer she surely would have died from their lack of care and neglect. The staff is courteous and professional, but they are a bit understaffed on the weekends. The facility is clean and tidy, so that's another positive. The food on the other hand is horrific. There are no fresh fruits or vegetables at all. Every meal is laiden with nothing but carbs: mostly white bread and instant mashed potatoes. The amount of salt in the diets here is atrocious and everything comes out of a box or a can. Their idea of nutrition is a fish stick in a hot dog bun. How anyone can heal in this place is beyond me.

The level of care did not match what was promised. There were multiple instances where my loved one was not properly supervised, which led to falls that could have been prevented with appropriate monitoring. We were told that staff would regularly check on residents, but in reality, that did not happen consistently. This lack of attention is especially dangerous for individuals with dementia who require closer care and supervision. What was most upsetting was the lack of communication. When my loved one was injured, when we got there no one came to talk to us about at all. We often had to ask questions ourselves, and even then, answers were unclear. Additionally, the overall attitude of some staff members came across as insensitive and lacking compassion, which is the last thing families want in a care setting. I would strongly recommend that families carefully consider other options and thoroughly research facilities before making a decision. One star because the makes you put one.

Communication with the staff was poor, and they did not demonstrate empathy or care when speaking with our family. The facility is understaffed, and patients are often neglected. Even local paramedics mentioned they would never send their own family there. I wish I had known this before sending my father to Kingston Court for rehabilitation--never again! He was discharged from rehab way too soon and now he is back in the hospital and have to go through rehab again at another facility!!!

To be a part of Paramount is to watch the residents admit and excel in their daily living. A non medical look and feel, it is te most affordable community in the area and beyond and our residents are able to age in place. So as their needs increase we move forward with them, skilled nursing care isn't a move that your loved one will have to make. I am thrilled to be a part of a great work family and enjoy watching our community grow every day! This is a must see community if you're searching for your loved one

But when we toured Paramount Senior Living and met with Starla Press, Director of Admissions and Marketing, we were immediately impressed. Starla spent an enormous amount of time patiently answering our questions and asked many, many questions about our sister and her specific needs. Then she went to the hospital the very next day to meet with our sister and talk with her directly. It was so very clear that Starla was interested in making this work for us and our sister - more than any other community that we met with!! So what makes Paramount Assisted Living so special and superior over other similar communities? It's the people. From Starla - to Olivia Perry, LPN, Resident Care Manager - to Shiryl Stanley in accounting... everyone who works there puts the patient and their family first. When I call to ask a question or discuss my sister's care, they go above and beyond to help. They also know who I am and more importantly, who my sister is and how she is doing. This is a beautiful community and my sister raves about the food!!! She looks forward to all of her meals in the dining room and rates then 5-star. My sister went from a picky, non-eater to actually starting to gain a pound! Thank you, Paramount Senior Living, for taking such good care of my sister and caring about your patients and lovely community.
