I came in only to ask them about a price of a vehicle. Instead, they kept trying to persuade me into buying and not getting done what I asked of them, which was only asking for a price. Instead of respecting the fact that I was car shopping and wanting to weigh my options before making a decision, they tried to convince me that there was no where else to go but there. UPDATE: Even after I told them that I would not buy from them and that they lost their chance to have me as a customer, they still continued to contact me a week and a half later, even though I told them I was buying from someone else. My husband's and my luck had run out. Our only car was totalled on I-95. Without any means to physically go out and hunt dealer to dealer, we started searching online. First to catch our attention was the consumer ratings on Subaru itself... and the resale value they hold. Searching near our zip code, Colonial was among the listings that popped up. We called ... and Bella was the first to greet us on the phone. She had us at "Hello!" What an awesome "first contact" to have ... first impressions really are lasting... and it only got better from there! Bella listened to our tale of financial woe and connected us to Bob Andersen. Bob listened to our particular details and based on what we explained, he had us fill out a loan application online. Less than 15 minutes after hitting "SEND," Bob called us to say, "we can help you! I'll pick you up in 45 minutes!" Bob picked us up in one of the 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport wagons that we mentioned from seeing their inventory online. I was able to do my test drive from our driveway to the Colonial dealership! Perfect! The car just felt "right" both from my side as driver and from my husband's perspective in the passenger seat. There was no pressure from Bob whatsoever... it was clear that he was a man of his word and his main onbjective was to make sure we were comfortable about every aspect of the deal ... from the car itself, to the financing details, to any upgrades we did or didn't want! Within 2 hours, papers were signed, the car was detailed, the roof rack was installed, a detailed demonstration of every button and knob was given... it just got more and more comfortable with NO pressure whatsoever! Great experience buying a 2011 TDI from this dealer! It was our first of two Volkswagens for 2011, and our sales guy, Frank, was great. The only problem is with the financial company they use, Suntrust. The customer service is rude and they only do the "mail in a coupon with your check" thing. I only pay bills online and having to deal with checks in the mail is quite annoying and an outdated process. I don't understand why Colonial uses Suntrust instead of Volkswagen Credit (which we're using for our second vw), but I'm hoping to refinance with a better company soon. Otherwise, Colonial and Frank are fantastic. read more

Overall, I was very happy with how "fast" and "smooth" the process of getting my first subaru convened. DJ was extremely polite and courteous expediting all the formalities so I could drive home in the Forester--about 2 hrs. later. In spite of some negative reviews read prior to going to CVS for a certified preowned vehicle, it was a decent experience from the point of sale to locking in a sensible Subaru financing arrangement. I am not giving a 5 star today as securing a spare key never materialized, and the tire sensor light did NOT go away as promised. Do not listen to sales people when they promise you something (or everything). They lie. If they promise you oil changes, it means only first oil change is covered. If they promise you inspections, it means state inspection is covered only and emission inspection cost includes both. If they promise you car washes, be prepared to wait at least an hour. Do not believe that you can spend Loyalty Cash on maintenance or repairs. They allow to use 10% only which is close to nothing. Double check everything. It is not the place where you want to come again. Most likely the five star reviews are all fake. read more

I would never imagine driving a Volkswagen until I test drove one. It drives Amazing and the interior is very well designed. Well back in February I bought a 2016 chevy Cruze I tried my best to the like the car but each passing day my hate for the car would grow, I needed to get out of that car. I went all over to find a new car but other dealerships said no " it's impossible". Just last week my phone rings and it's colonial, I speak with dawn and explain my situation, thinking she was going to say the same thing every dealership has said. She said come down to the dealership we can see what we can do. I get my car appraised and do some paper work, I wasn't to excited because I did that at every dealership. Then a woman comes down with Ted ( who sold me the car) they tell me " they can get me out of my Cruze". I was very happy with the hard work Ted put in to make this work. I was very disappointed with the lack of service I got here. The salesperson, a young guy, just went through the motions and was not helpful or informative at all. He told me about a few features on each car I looked at, let me sit in each one of them, then sat there in silence after asking me which one I wanted. I only found out after I tried to redeem the warranty a year later that there was no warranty at all and spent MONTHS trying to contact the dealership, the salesman, the sales manager, pretty much ANYONE who could help me. The only person who would even try to be helpful was the service manager. I had to have VW of America step in and even THEY couldn't get a response from this RIDICULOUS dealership. During our test drive i received a very disturbing phone call, which had serious consequences for me. Seeing how upset i was, Walter did not pursue a business transaction with me at that time beyond my interest, and followed up with me only by email and with a phone call to let me know that my $25 coupon for taking a test drive, had been sent. As with my comments about the salespeople at any dealership, i assume this sensitivity trickles down from the management -- at least i hope so, in this case. I did not forget you, Walter! read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before talking to this dealership. They seemed on top of their game in the beginning. I made an appointment to test drive a car and they sent me a text the day of to confirm. I then contacted them to see if I could come in earlier and they said sure. Then when I show up there is a salesman talking to a customer and no one else around, so I took a seat in their lobby. Then three guys came out from the back, so I stood up, put my phone away and before I could take a step, two went back the way they came and one made eye contact with me and walked to his office and sat down. Since I was up I walked out and sent a text to the company saying I was leaving because no one would help me and they replied with, "are you sure you were at the right dealership?" And after that comment they lost a customer, which was sad because it was a convenient location for me and I know I am at the right dealership profile. read more

I purchased a 2011 Subaru Outback yesterday and it was by far the best experience I have had in the 9 new cars I have purchased. From my initial contact with Ginny in the internet sales group to my salesperson Tony to the GM and the finance officer, it was a terrific transaction. They are helpful but not pushy, knowledgeable but not condescending and most of all they are professional and honest. I had to order the vehicle because I wanted a sunroof and navigation in a 2011. They gave me a range of values on my trade in at the time of order based on some best and worst case scenarios. I gave them a deposit and had to wait on delivery. The day I went to pick up my new Subaru, they never once tried to down play my trade and squeeze a few hundred dollars off the price. Instead they did what any reputable dealership would do and they gave me fair market value or best case scenario so that everyone was satisfied. Tony Swygert and Ginny Deleon are a great sales team and you be treated like a friend, not just a sales figure. I can tell you right now that you will not find a better Subaru dealership in this area. This group of people work together for the customer and it was evident yesterday during my purchase. People were congratulating me and thanking me for my purchase. I was thinking to myself, "all I did was buy a car" but that is not how they treat you. They treat you like you bought into their family or into their car club. Even the manager for the entire dealership took the time to thank me and shake my hand. Thanks what you are getting when you buy from Colonial, you are getting the entire dealership and everyone there is going to make this experience the best automobile experience you have ever had. They know the sale is not the end of the transaction because they want you to be satisfied for the entire life of the car. Mike from the service department told me new front brakes are $580, I said thats nuts I have never had to pay that amount. This is our second VW from Colonial and more specifically with Arthur as our salesperson. We leased our 2012 Jetta around a year ago and had such a pleasant experience with Art as the salesperson we decided to come back. We had been going back and forth on trading in our Fiat, as we only started leasing it last summer but it had lost its luster quickly. Knowing it would cost us in the end to get out of it, I called Arthur up to ask him to help us out. I explained to him how we really didn't want to waste our time going into the dealership if it wasn't going to be a reasonable option for us to trade it in. Without hesitation he took the information over the phone and got to work figuring out around where we would be with trading in the Fiat. He got back to us immediately with the information, which was a lot better than we expected, and we set up an appointment the same day to come in and see two different models. We were greeted by Arthur as soon as we walked in the showroom. He took us out for two test rides, answered all our questions, and gave us many options to choose from. In the end we had decided on a Passat SE with Sunroof, and love it! Art then had the car detailed and prepped for us to take ownership, while Lorraine took care of our lease paperwork. We signed the papers, which was very fast and painless, and then Art took us to our new car. We had another great experience at Colonial VW and look forward to many years of business in the future!
