Coast to coast move. Great on pickup end - delivery was another matter. Stated window was 11/20-27, they finally showed up on 11/30. Needless to say, we were exhausted and had 3 extra hotel days. No significant weather on the route, and the Colonial rep told us they left California on 11/23, 4 days INTO the 7 day delivery window. When it was all said and done, they picked up in California 11/14, and delivered in North Carolina 11/30. 16 days. We drove it with 2 dogs, taking our time, in 5. Delivery crew tried to avoid re-assembling everything that THEY disassembled for the move, in spite of the fact that we were assured if they disassemble, they re-assemble. I had to stand over them and keep pointing out additional assembly that needed to be done when they clearly just wanted to leave. Currently missing 1 office chair and a hand truck. I had to insist the delivery lead report them as missing, and he didn't even mention noting them as missing on final paperwork (I did anyway). While the salesperson and account managers was great, and the pickup crew were fantastic, our overall experience was greatly diminished by the fact that one of the delivery personnel seemed to be under the influence of drugs and urinated all over our bathroom floor; some of our furniture items were clearly dropped or hit hard; several pieces of furniture were not fully re-assembled, and trash from the move was put into trash receptacles where it didn't belong. read more

I used CVL after talking to Chad, who assured me they used their in-house movers. He lied to me because I told him I was going to use someone else. They sub-contract their movers. I had an almost 3000 ft house. Only one guy showed up. He & his dad own the moving company. In order to save money, this son took 3 days to get his truck packed. Nothing was wrapped properly. From the time a salesman agreed to a price and got me to sign a contract I've been constantly warned that the price of their "services" is subject to big increases. I am sitting in my empty house at 12:22 waiting for a delivery that was promised between 9 and 10 today. When I called the dispatcher to find out where my stuff is the dispatcher told me he was the only person who could have provided me with the time of arrival and that I should not have listened to the driver. When they came to pick up my stuff, they didn't call and just showed up at 9, they've added a long walk (another deceptive upcharge) where they play with their estimate policy (up to 75 feet included) from van to apartment they charged me for 160 and didn't exclude the 75 (very deceptive), the guys were waiting on the office for one and half hour (not kidding) sitting doing nothing in Texas heat until the quote is updated. At delivery, they didn't show up for "labor issues" which I've learned after talking directly to the driver which happen but my account manager was clueless when she called to check but that didn't stop her from asking to collect the final payment and I'm like for what?! No one showed up! Speaking of account manager in my case, all respect was completely useless, she didn't help coordinate between dispatch and updating me on what's happening, every time she calls and I ask a simple question she had no idea had to call me back. At the day of pick-up, she was out of office and didn't handover her work to anyone else on her team and I had to deal with customer service, furthermore they will spam you with automated emails and when you email back, they won't respond, they also use each other emails so you don't know who is who. At the end They DID NOT use the temporarily storage, the truck delivery guy (an awesome guy) confirmed that. also, my tracking (YES I'VE TRACKED MY SHIPMENT EVERY STEP OF THE WAY), the office people confirmed they did very confidently while I was factually checking the shipment... Be aware, unlike other services they will pick up and delivery using the same 18-wheeler, you guessed it, long walk will be added since they won't be able to park it, surprise! Lastly, luckily, I'm experienced in moving, everything was disassembled (chairs, tables etc) and wrapped furniture, boxes were sealed. However, they ended up cracking the base of my media console (marble top 1300$), the console is suspended and they should've just removed the base, I was too overwhelmed from everything to think about it and they should've known better. read more

The best part was the sales pitch. The outline of services to be rendered and payment calculations were for us, 4 days of packing, with 2 days overlap for loading and then the unloading. We were given an estimate that included twice the amount of boxes needed...at $1k a pop, with a promise to refund those not used. No refund for 2 sets+ of unused boxes. No follow up from sales as was specified. Four days of packing turned into 2 slap dash cram and load. Not one box was marked as to proper room due to language and reading issues. What was most shocking is the theft. One box of dog supplies equaling about $400, and a box of Christmas ornaments that went unpacked, in just the storage box. Pilfered. More items stolen as well. The unloading was frantic and was just dumped into the garage and never even into the house. They tell you to take your valuables in the car. If we all packed everything we considered valuable in the car, we wouldn't need a moving company. Our car was filled with animals and children. If you see a good review, it is because they offered us and probably others money to leave one. Plan to have to hire a second set of local movers to actually put the boxes where they need to go and finish placing furniture. They even folded our bed in half and just hoped we would not notice that it was permanently damaged. We paid over $15K for horrible service. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. What a huge surprise to me that Colonial allowed the same driver and helpers to continue with my move- word has it, they were bickering over payment. 2 days later, they arrived at my new location where the driver was a smart elic and was sarcastic and disrespectful to us every chance he got. He came in and tried to talk his helper out of not fully moving my stuff upstairs, which was IN THE CONTRACT*** they took apart 2 beds and dresser at pick up and was suppose to have reassembled. Instead they took pieces upstairs and thrower them down. Making a huge commotion. All I got from the driver was his bad attitude. Then!! When he got in my yard, he was cussing at me. MF this, etc. I reported it to Colonial, they scheduled a new person to come back out to get the rest of my things upstairs and assembled 2 weeks later. My wife & I moved from Chicago to Sarasota, FL in April 2023 and we used Colonial for our move. The packing and loading crew that showed up were very good and very efficient. Our new home in FL wasn't going to be ready for a few months so we arranged to have Colonial put our belongings in storage. We finally Closed in August and Colonial did a great job of getting our stuff from storage and delivering it to our new home with another great crew that was very efficient. We had some minor issues with items damaged but after working with Donna of their Resolutions Dept we were able to quickly reach a satisfactory resolution. I would definitely use Colonial Van Lines again and if you want a reliable and efficient mover you should use them too. read more

You will see a lot of upgraded reviews for Colonial, almost all of them referring to Donna. I had a terrible experience with Colonial and ended up speaking with Donna to get a resolution. There is a very interesting good cop/bad cop vibe to the whole thing. Donna was finally able to provide a resolution (although it was no more than what the original contract originally allowed), but what people forget is you should have been talking to someone like Donna from the very beginning. I give five stars if I think other people should hire a company. Even though Donna was very nice, I could not recommend Colonial to anyone and would not hire them again. Unfortunately, people use on-line reviews to make high cost decisions and so the review results are heavily skewed because people are so pathetically grateful to finally speak to someone who is not rude and unhelpful (looking at you, Sheba) that they will upgrade their reviews just because Donna asked them to. Update: I did get my household goods delivered the next day, but Colonial Van Lines is a total clown show. My stuff was loaded onto a semi truck in San Diego. Somewhere along the way between San Diego and Leavenworth, Kansas, my stuff was unloaded from the semi and loaded onto a smaller truck, and transported some distance, and then unloaded and reloaded onto another semi truck. Contrary to what their customer service told me when I was shopping for service, Colonial does NOT have their own trucks, and they are in fact reliant upon contract truckers. Anyhow, in the process of loading and unloading my stuff at least 3 times, my property was broken and hardware for two beds and one TV were lost, so I had to buy replacement screws at HomeDepot. Three guys came to unload the truck to my home, 2 of them were over 50?, and the third was late teens or early 20s. They scratched the hard-wood floor in our new home, said the furniture was all assembled, guess they didn't want to tell me about the missing hardware. One of the guys smelled like he was smoking pot, totally unprofessional. I served 22 years in the Navy and completed more than a dozen moves across the country and internationally, all of them were way better moving companies than Colonial Van Lines. read more

ZERO STARS (NEVER AGAIN) Contracted for move from Catskills to Prosper TX. Requested the contents of 4 bedroom house be put in storage pending purchase of a new home. I thought I contracted Colonial but instead ATL Moving from Georgia shows up to do the job. Didn't think much of it as I expect they will have screened every company Colonial works with. Packing and pick up went okay however they never numbered the boxes so how do I know the final count (cause you are charged for each box) and how will I know I got all my stuff? I have done this countless times across the globe and never seen this. Oh and the last truck load was too much so they had my mattresses and box springs tied to the van on the lift gate. I called November 1st to request delivery as of Dec 3rd at our new address as Jonathan told me they needed 3-4 week notice. Instead I was told I had to wait till middle of January 2022. After escalating the matter I was told I was a liar and they would contact ATL Moving to see if they could deliver sooner. From Nov 15th till Dec 17th, ALL MY CALLS, VOICEMAILS, EMAILS were ignored by Colonial Van Lines. No one responded!!! I decided to take matters into my own hands as I had a phone number and email address of ATL Moving. Long story... they agree to deliver on Dec 24th. On the day the van shows up with 2 men, supposedly from ATL Moving. They said they were told to drop the stuff off. No reassembling of furniture, no helping unwrap, just dump and run. They even begged for my 3 sons to help unload the truck cause it was too much for them. So eventually they decided to leave the mattresses on my driveway, heavy furniture in the hallways or downstairs instead of upstairs and left to pick up a second truck load. Only to have their dispatch call that they had truck problems and were unable to complete the job. Why can't you just hire an replacement truck? Or find a mechanic? But no they would be back first thing in the morning on Xmas Day. I tried calling both Colonial and ATL that morning but no one answered so who knew if they would be coming or not. At 12:30pm on Xmas day they show up, with help. But 1 guy proceeds to spend the entire afternoon in the truck "cause he had issues". So yep, everyone who was at my house for Xmas dinner was asked to help unload. What a freakin' nightmare. Damaged mattresses, mouse droppings, roaches, damage to a box spring (rodent bites and urine) amongst other things!! So I file a complaint and call 2 weeks later to see what kind of a refund or compensation they are willing to offer... and the guy at Colonial who took my complaint down no longer works there. Please do yourself a favor... look elsewhere!! And to think I was hoping to give them a second job as well. No way... never ever again. And I am still waiting to hear from Colonial!!! 1/28/22 - update: with the assistance of Donna, Colonial's resolution manager, who deserves 5 stars for her efforts, we have come to a compromise. Their customer service is reprehensible. While attempting to resolve the issue, I was continuously gaslighted for months, causing extreme anxiety and mental anguish. Please stay away from this business. The ordeal I endured by Colonial Van Lines aggravated my conditions as a disabled veteran. The issue was this. My household items were picked up and loaded around 5/24/23. The Bill of Landing had an estimated delivery date range of 5/31/23-6/17/23. Therefore, out of trust I planned everything around those dates. I was wrong in doing that because I didn't receive my household items until 6/29/23. So, my family with two girls lived in an empty house for a month. In the end I got no answers as to why this happened at all. They didn't answer my emails or phone calls a day before the delivery date. It was all just a terrible experience. Now why did this happen? You see once you sign the Bill of Landing. The sales reps drop you. The account manager is vague or isn't very helpful. Overall, their administrative staff leave it all for the dispatchers and delivery drivers to handle. The movers finally arrived in Austin 9 days after the truck left St Louis. We had hired "white glove" movers. Instead, they numerous texts asking Will to buy a cake for the workers and to have a block party. They also tried to charge us for 40 nonexistent boxes. Counting is not their strong suit. Today, our bed, bicycle, lamp and 5 boxes did not arrive. Oops. They are in Atlanta in someone else's storage unit. And Colonial Movers is closed on Sundays. Trying to move my elderly mother across the country to an assisted living facility. The other moving companies I had called didn't have availability or took a week to call back. Speed was of the essence. When I spoke to Colonial Van Lines they won me over with their "can do" attitude, helpfulness, and availability. I was told by Joseph Baran that he would be helping me "every step of the way". Yet I never heard from him again after I signed the contract. No one ever answered my questions or called me back. The movers who arrived quoted a price $3K more than what was previously agreed and made me sign it or they wouldn't complete the move. Since pick up, I have not been able to get an ETA on delivery beyond the 20 day window. I have told them multiple times that I need 48 notice to get the rental furniture out of my mom's apartment prior to delivery. We are now halfway through the delivery window and I still have no information. The most recent price quote is only $2K more with zero explanation on the increase. Her car was shipped out here with only slightly better results. It did arrive but I was only given a one hour window rather than the 24 hours notice promised. I had been involved in domestic transportation for over 30 years. I contracted Colonial Van Lines to move my house property to another state. I had the ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER when dealing with CVL. I will NEVER use them again nor can I recommend that anyone else contracts their services. CVL subcontracted to another trucking company. They brokered the job. I felt like CVL lost control. Google FMCSA (a government web site), click on Company Snapshot, select Company Name lookup and enter the company's name for Pompano Beach. Notice they only have 4 Power Units (= 4 trucks)! And that is sufficient enough to service all USA?? The subcontracted company's driver called late in the day when he was actually supposed to start loading my property. He told me he did not want to work late and would start next morning. OK. Fine. Stuff happens. But, then he asked me what he was supposed to load! Item by item. What? I asked him why he did not have the list of items that was already agreed upon with CVL. He then got an attitude and was no longer wanting to pick up my things at all. I had to call CVL and sort out the matter. They said the driver should never have called me. This was the start of a very stressful 3 weeks. On over 6 occasions, I was given FALSE delivery dates of my household goods. On the days of expected arrival and eventual trucker no-shows, I would call CVL and ask for the status: Where is the truck and what is their delivery window? They often could not tell me what was going on, but said they would call the carrier and find out and then call me back. Usually they would not call back or even within a reasonable time and when I would follow-up they had to start all over again tracking the whereabouts of my personal property. I had to call almost every day due to their HORRIBLE AND TOTALLY UNRELIABLE COMMUNICATION. You should see the pages and pages of notes I had to keep. Good luck trying to reach a CVL manager to seek assistance when required. The truck that picked up my property was not the same that delivered it - so it had to be re-handled. How many times? A scary very thought. For me, it was the worst NIGHTMARE SCENARIO. ***LOOK HERE*** I had to file a police report with Broward County Police Department for fear that my household goods were lost, stolen or in an accident. Police later told me that it would most likely end up being a civil matter if that was the actual status. I also had to file a cargo complaint report with FMCSA government department. **************** My household goods were over 15 days late for delivery based on the original ETA they gave me. The problem, however, was more about not really knowing IF or WHEN it would arrive. I paid extra for antique furniture to be wrapped, but upon delivery, for some unknown reason, two pieces were no longer wrapped and totally unprotected. Luckily, they were not damaged. They still owe me $80 due to the number of delay days, but they first required that I sign a form basically waiving my rights including retracting any government, etc. filings plus I would have been barred from posting comments on social media platforms. And why do you think they were requiring such? ****UPDATE (Aug 25): Does anyone think that by holding back some due monies is actually the company's standard tactic to force you into signing a waiver agreement so you can't post negative comments on any social media??? Hmm. I'm not going to ask for the $80 balance due me, but instead write it off! We moved in December 2024 from Georgia to Texas. This company was terrible. We had a binding quote for full pack job totaling around $13000+ they didn't provide the full service we paid for because they were days late after rescheduling several times. I went out and bought boxes and packed most of our house up-they still charged me making it that it was for boxes. They were late delivering - you pay the full balance before they start to unload-it took them several hours to unload and put things back together. We tipped them and then they tell us they didn't have all of our things because they didn't fit in the truck which was supposed to be an 18 wheeler/trailer and we paid another $1100 (added to our quote) since they were picking up in that truck-we paid for the shuttle because our neighborhood for the pick up didn't allow 18 wheelers-and that's what they told me my things would be picked up and delivered in so we paid to have a smaller truck pick up and then transfer our furniture to the big truck. We fought with them to get that $1100 back from them since they didn't deliver in the 18 wheeler-we never would have added the shuttle service to our job. This place is a rip off. There were so many blatant lies and unprofessionalism that people could write books about how NOT to do business. Let's start with Anne their salesperson. She would tell you that they have been in business for 20+ years, that they NEVER subcontract to other companies. That they go by weight and you would get AS SOON as the truck is loaded and leaves your property a weight number. That you can decrease the price if you go under the estimated price. That they are super professional and would wrap everything extremely carefully. Everything you want to hear. The reality is this: They subcontracted to 2 companies. The last one who ended up actually moving us was CAL VAN LINES INC. GARDENA CA. Their reviews on Yelp for that company add up to an impressive ONE STAR rating. They never provided the actual weight. The driver flat-out refused to do so. The only thing we were told was we were under the initial weight estimate. No decrease in price, however! Two people came to pack and load our stuff. They started negotiating and telling us that if we take care of them (give them good tips) they would save us money on the final price. Once the truck was loaded it ended up staying for more than 2 weeks in CA. Imagine your furniture all packed/badly wrapped and staying in a truck for two weeks during one of the hottest times of the year. The result? Every single piece of furniture that was shipped was damaged. Most of the chairs we had and desks were deformed from the heat to a point where they no longer function, look or fit any room. Our high-end table (More than $5K value) was so badly damaged that they could NOT PUT IT BACK TOGETHER! Other furniture items were left as well due to the driver not able to locate the parts! No parts box they said! The majority of the boxes were damaged as well. The TV stand and other high-end items damaged. Absolute and complete nightmare! Judge by yourself from the photos attached. Their delivery time was over 3 weeks. The excuse was the driver had to deal with some emergency. After we realized how many things they told us were lies it is hard for us to believe that anymore. Do not trust this company. We moved 3 times before and never experienced such horrible service and results. Well here I am with an update and the happy one that I hoped for! I wish I could give them 5 stars based on the experience I had working out a resolution with Donna, but I think 4 stars is a more accurate picture of my entire experience. I am not having to pay for services that I didn't need- hooray! My pick up was great, as was communication *leading up to* the pick up. My delivery was great, as was communication *after* delivery. It's all those days in between where I didn't have a great experience. Hopefully since they listen to their feedback after delivery, it means they are able to internally work out what ever lead to this issue and you'll have a smooth move. All my belongings arrived. I've moved across the country and I stayed within my desired budget. Now I am ready to move on from this whole experience and keep my moves local for awhile. If I were to go back in time and choose a moving company again I'd still go with Colonial for this move. At the end of the day - you may have bumps in the road- there are SO many factors that can go wrong during a cross-country move (in my case). At least Colonial has people like Donna on their team to help make it right after the fact. read more

Recently contracted Colonial for an interstate move which included packing services. They used a subcontractor to perform the move. They increased the price of the move from their original quote by over 30%. They broke or significantly damaged around 1/3 of our furniture, art, kitchenware, family heirlooms, etc. And they shamelessly stole my wife's jewelry collection, makeup, perfume, an expensive camera and several other valuables. In several cases they opened and pilfered through the boxes, taking the valuables and then resealed and delivered the boxes without the valuables inside. The movers were also rude and unprofessional. I lived on the phone with Colonial's customer support team throughout the process. They were ineffective, disempowered and unsympathetic. After I posted a negative review on another site, I was contacted by "Donna", a person purporting to work directly for the CEO to resolve extreme customer service issues. This was simply a stalling tactic. She never delivered on her promises and we have not had any contact from the company in weeks. We are moving to legal action. This is a bad company run by immoral people. Avoid at all costs. read more

My wife and I got jobs in Atlanta and had to go through the laborious process of moving our possessions--and our daughter--from New York. Our future employer recommended Colonial Movers, so we hired them. They came in a huge tractor trailer and loaded everything in. What we did not know until they were finished loading everything is that Colonial Movers were going to unload everything at a location in New Jersey and then reload our possessions into another, even bigger tractor trailer along with another family's possessions. We didn't like the sound of this, because any additional loading and unloading obviously increases the risk of something bad happening. Common sense, right? We left our home in New York for Atlanta on June 10, but the tractor trailer did not arrive at our new home until June 13. For three days, we lived in an empty house. On June 13, the movers finally arrived. We hadn't realized that they had placed blue circular stickers on everything--I mean everything. I still cannot get these stickers off. The lateness and the permanent stickers were only the beginning of the problems we experienced. All our possessions were mixed up with the possessions belonging to the other family. The movers weren't monitoring which boxes were being unloaded. More seriously, much of our furniture was damaged. Bookcases, mugs, ceramic items, wicker chairs, our Spin bike, floor lamps, and a circular solid oak dining room table--all damaged (see photos). I own a custom-built coffee table for my office with a wicker center. The wicker center is now decorated with a generous-sized hole. We didn't realize the circular solid oak dining room table was damaged until we sat down for dinner the first evening after the movers left. There was a long, thin crack that ran along the diameter of this table. What is this? I also noticed what looked like hardened glue running along this seam. Then I looked under the table. One of the geniuses at Colonial Movers decided to place two rectangular brackets underneath on either end perpendicular to the crack so that the table would stay together during transit, then they finished their masterful repair job by applying glue haphazardly along the seam from above. I can't imagine someone thinking, "Good as new. Gee, these folks will never know." And yet, there it was. But wait, there's more! My wife's childhood tricycle, a family heirloom, was missing. We finally tracked it down--it was still in the tractor trailer, which was now in Florida. Through dogged persistence, we finally managed to retrieve the tricycle. Did I mention the scratches the movers left on our new oak floors and scuff marks on the walls along the staircase leading up to my office? Then came the claims we made for all our damaged items. We sent in the claims on June 20, exactly one week after the moving truck from hell pulled away from our new home. My wife and I mused, "This is thousands of dollars in damage they have caused. Surely, they will do the right thing." On September 30--three months and 10 days after we filed our claims--we received a check for $252. No apology, no explanation for the bizarre table repair. Nothing but the check. Every time we turn on a floor lamp (one of the undamaged ones), we see the hideous blue sticker and are reminded of the nightmare that was our move. I have presented all the facts from this past summer. You can make your own decision about whether to hire Colonial Movers. It's safe to say that you will be hiring them at your own peril. read more

The only reason I am udating this review is because Donna, in the Resolutions Department went to bat for us and was able to get the final billable that we had no idea even existed, removed for us. UPDATE: After working with Donna I have amended the review to 3 stars in response to her efforts toward a satisfactory resolution. TLDR: Worst moving experience of my life, unexplainably late, no accountability, and careless - I urge you to avoid Colonial Van Lines if you value your time and belongings. I decided to use Colonial Van Lines for a long distance move from TX to UT. After speaking with several carriers, I felt comfortable and confident with Colonial based on their initial follow-through. All seemed to be well up until the moment of pickup: I was assured that a semi-truck would not fit onto my street for pickup, even though I called before pickup to assure it would not interfere with traffic as there were several semis parked on the street throughout recent weeks. This resulted in me paying an extra $500 for a smaller truck shuttle. The truck arrived on Jan 13 and the delivery window was Jan 16 - 25. The contracted carrier attempted to charge me an additional $2000 for services I had already paid in the deposit with Colonial. Beware of this behavior from their contracted carriers. Throughout this delivery window, I received 1 phone call from Colonial on Jan 18th stating that "we're checking with dispatch on delivery". On January 25, there was still no shipment or update from Colonial. All I was able to uncover after calling in repeatedly was that my belongings were still in a warehouse in TX, and had been there for 12 days without movement. I had been following-up daily expressing the need for some tangible update and finally got confirmation that my items have not moved 12 days later. Everything up until that point was "checking with dispatch". For the inconvenience, they offer a $30/day credit each day they miss the window (or in this case, 0.4% of the estimate per day). A day after requesting to speak with a manager, I received a call from Colonial supervision to address the delays. They explained that the truck my items were planned for has been delayed, and the soonest pickup for my belongings would be Monday January 30th. This did not happen. My items were delivered on February 6th (24 days after pickup). All of the items I packed myself were not damaged. My two flat screen TVs (charged extra for special packing/care by Colonial) were destroyed, and other items packed by Colonial saw damage. My office chair was also lost in the move, and my furniture was soaking wet. The driver was even shocked by how wet everything was, and could not explain why. Total damages estimated ~$2k - $3k. This transaction cost me over $6,000 and I only have items in worse condition than when I left them to show for it - 24 days after I left them. This was the most painful and regrettable expense I've ever made and I urge you not to make the same mistake with your choices. I should add that we arranged a vehicle transport through Colonial as well, with a similar pickup window but the vehicle carrier delayed our pickup last minute by 5 days and we were unable to comply with the last minute schedule change. The deposit paid for this unfulfilled service was not refunded either. Do not use this carrier, they are not a true freightliner - pay the extra dime for a professional crew to take you point to point and treat your items with care and respect. read more

I used Colonial Van lines for my move because I believed them when they said that they are NOT a broker and to look on the DOT website. They completely and utterly lied to me because they are a broker and contract out the work without telling the customer. Also, I put a claim in for a $400 stand mixer and they approved my claim for $18.60. DO NOT USE THEM AS A MOVER. We ended up with damage to our property, paid over $3000 more than what was quoted, and they just want me to keep talking to managers. I was also told by Colonial that I didn't have to pay the remainder of the balance until after we received our belongings, but the CONTRACTED mover made us pay another deposit before they would pick up then pay the rest the remainder before they would unload the truck. READ THE CONTRACTS! They will try and slip things by you, and they are liars. Patrina the sales rep was awful. She said they don't broker out to other moving companies, but she came in with a decent quote so we decided to put a deposit down, and then they sent the contract. *Conveniently* they forgot the link to sign the contract and sent over a new one with the link, Patrina then said "it's the same contract." It was not the same. They brokered out it out after saying they didn't and then LIED about the contract being the same. High pressure sales tactics with deadlines to lock in rates and urging you to sign contracts without reading them, and they *conveniently* find a discount or new rate if you're hesitant to try and get you to sign. I would advise everyone to avoid this company, and if you do, make sure you read everything, they will try and slip stuff by you like the balance having to be paid with cash or money order and waiving the right to an in person meeting for inventory after saying we would have one. Wouldn't have had a problem if they brokered out and were honest about it, but they lied, cannot do business with liars. read more

We hired them in July for a move across the country that required a month of storage. The entire process was a nightmare. At pick up they forgot to load a crib and two end tables. We had to give them away. The delivery took longer than anticipated. They gave us a 10-day window and delivered 11 days after that. That's a total of 21 days of sleeping on the floor without our belongings. Dispatch couldn't give me an update and had no idea where our belongs were located, nor give us an eta. In fact, we informed them of delivery. They had no idea dispatch contacted us directly for delivery. They charged us approximately $700 to transfer our belongings into a shuttle (smaller trailers) if needed; however, they transferred our belongings into an 18-wheeler. They still haven't refunded this money. Our belongings were kept in their storage for a month. And everything was delivered molding, with bugs inside some of the boxes. The smell itself was disgusting. Due to the unnecessary transfer of our belongings into a larger truck, all the boxes were delivered broken, squashed, dented, open, and damaged. Here is the following list and dollar amount of damage they caused: 1. Elliptical machine screen broken: $2000 2. Broken 55' Samsung TV (that the company packed): $800 3. Water damage on sectional sofa (that the company packed): $2700 4. Broken dollhouse: $100 5. Stains on upholstered rocking chair: $300 6. Stains on mattresses (that the company packed) 7. Dry cleaning bill for molded clothing (which includes jackets and men's suits): $500 8. Property damage: estimated $700 9. Missing glass for desk: $400 10. Scratches on the coffee table: $300 We filed a claim a few months ago and haven't received any news on this. Even if they refund the maximum amount, it still doesn't cover the monetary damage they caused our move. We've given Colonial Van Lines four months to resolve this issue and they have done nothing. Save yourself the trouble to look elsewhere. This company is unprofessional. read more

I was told to go get boxes and pack the rest of the house up (items in EVERY ROOM) after the movers left and ask the new owners of the house if I could store my belongings in their home until hopefully a moving crew could come get the items in the future! The movers changed the paperwork after I signed! The had the nerve to ask me for a tip even though they didn't complete the job! They strapped my mattresses to the back of the truck and didn't put them in the mattress cartons I paid for.
