I used your company because you had good ratings. And I spoke to you over the phone I explained that I was handicapped had just gotten out of the hospital. I needed to pack up a 5 bedroom house Because my family had passed away, and I was dealing with that. Your company assured me of the best quality and you guys would take care of everything. Your guys completely mishandled, delicate and irreplaceable breakable stuff that was hand painted by my great-grandmother. It's irreplaceable. Here, guys ended up throwing stuff out the bedroom windows and leaving it in the yard. I have pictures Including broken glass left for somebody who was handicapped to deal with. And I think you took advantage of a handicapped woman. Your employees decided to take it upon themselves. After going through stuff in my garage and during a break, your employees decided to ride hoverboards that you had no business being on. You also stated in our final conversation that you were going to send me some money back or put it back on my credit card. Which never happened, so you lied. And again, I felt taken advantage of first for being handicapped, and then for being a woman, because you kept asking where my husband was

I booked this company for a long distance move from Florida to Idaho. The price was good and they stuck to it. But you don't get what you paid for! First, it took 33 days from pick up to delivery despite being told multiple times "It will be there tomorrow. " When our belongings arrived, the driver was a good guy. However, this moving company brokered out the process. Our belongings arrived. I should say most of our belongings arrived. A tote with art work was not delivered. One item was destroyed: an antique, family heirloom. In addition, our sofa was burned. I have pictures of both items. Next time we will rent a truck and move things ourselves .

Pushing the safe upside down on concrete

I engaged Mitchell Horowitz from FFMS to transport my possessions, including a full-sized gun safe weighing approximately 690 pounds. Mr. Horowitz assured me that FFMS possessed the necessary expertise to handle the safe, which was explicitly listed in the inventory sheet. Contrary to these assurances, FFMS failed to honor its commitments and exhibited blatant negligence throughout the moving process. The scheduled pick-up date was October 11, 2024; however, FFMS did not arrive until October 12, 2024, with only two movers who were unprepared and claimed to be unaware of how to handle the safe or that a safe was even included in the move (one man spoke broken English, the other none). I had provided them instructions to contact me before moving the safe so I could demonstrate how to remove its door to make it lighter and safer to transport. They completely disregarded these instructions. Instead, without my permission or knowledge, the movers attempted to forcefully place the safe onto a small hand truck without using appropriate equipment such as straps or protective padding. Additionally, they failed to remove the safe's door as instructed. Hearing loud commotion from the rear of the property, I immediately ran to the back and witnessed the safe violently singing back and forth on the hand truck, resulting in severe scratches on all sides. The movers further aggravated the damage by recklessly turning the safe upside down, destroying its interior. Rather than addressing the damage, the movers dismissively instructed me to file a claim. I immediately documented the damages, taking photographs on site, and sent them to Mr. Horowitz via text message. I called FFMS office to only be told they will email me a claim form. It took months and countless phone calls to Mr. Horowitz and others. When I finally received the claim form I attached the following... 1. Photographs of the damages to the safe. 2. Text messages exchanged with Mr. Horowitz. 3. Receipt of purchase for the safe, evidencing its cost of $1,882 and proof of ownership. 4. Documentation from Gunsafes.com detailing the safe's specifications, value, and weight. 5. The bill of lading contract 6. Inventory confirmation showing the weight of the safe. 7. Proof of payment for all moving fees to FFMS. 8. A copy of the document that was given to me to sign prior to the movers leaving with my possessions. The moving man who was in charge (as the other spoke no English) deliberately failed to note the damage. The conversation about this blatant attempt by FFMS to avoid taking any responsibility for the damages was recorded. Eventually I just gave up and was never reimbursed. Worse moving experience in my lifetime.

Broke several items and lost others. When I filed a claim I was asked what each item weighed(like I should know what office items weigh) when I asked them to use their guess that is the lat I heard even after calls and emails. Damage done was over $1000 on a $4000 move. Worst mover ever and we have used quite a few in the past. Said they were not a broker yet brokered our move.

This is one of the broken pieces. The split in the outer wood is the length of the piece.

UPDATE: I worked with Donna from the Resolutions Department and she was able to negotiate…read morecompensation for my issues. The 5 stars is ONLY for Donna as she seems like the only competent employee of the company. Through the process Donna was empathetic, polite, communicative, and accountable. This is probably the worst experience with moving I've ever had. I contacted Colonial Van Lines to schedule a long distance move from Arlington, MA to San Marcos, CA. The representative was polite and sounded professional and knowledgeable. She assured me that Colonial Van Lines was NOT a broker but a legitimate moving company with their own fleet and told me to check DOT to confirm. I decided to move forward with them with as the mover and paid half of the invoice as requested. On 8/12/2024, another company named "Always Affordable Moving dba East Coast Van Lines" came to pick up my items, NOT Colonial Van Lines. You can read their reviews on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. The next day, I noticed some surface damage done to my walls but decided to be understanding and ignore it. The real headache started on 9/3/2024 when "East Coast Van Lines" delivered my items to my new apartment in San Marcos. They charged me an extra $337 to load my items onto a smaller UHaul truck to deliver my items since they said they could not fit their primary truck into the apartment complex. This required confusing back and forth communication between the two companies and delayed the delivery by several hours. At this point, I was exhausted and wanted to get the delivery over with. During the move at the destination, I noticed the two movers were not at all professional compared the movers who loaded my items in MA. They dropped several boxes down the stairs, damaged my dining table, and scratched the wood floors in my new apartment by dragging furniture. I literally saw the mover try and carry a heavy box of clearly labeled dishware with one handle which ripped and sent the box down the stairs where you can clearly hear the sound of broken ceramic. I mentioned these issues to the driver and all he said was "file a claim". After witnessing how the mover was handling things, I told him to just leave the boxes and items at the top of the stairs so I could do the rest of the moving myself. I also decided to do the furniture assembly myself because I lost all faith in their competence. I also contacted the account manager that was assigned to my job from Colonial Van Lines to resolve these issues but she could not be reached on or after the delivery date, even after multiple phone calls. She also never returned my calls even though I left a voicemail. A week later I did a more thorough inspection of my inventory and realized that I was missing two boxes, one of which was coincidentally the most valuable box and contained my watches. I contacted customer service and they told me they could not locate the missing boxes and told me to just "file a claim". However, the claim process is laborious and the document requires the customer to agree to the following: "I understand that Colonial Van Lines, Inc. acting as my moving coordinator, bears no liability for any and all damaged/missing items sustained during the course of my relocation and agree to forever discharge said organization from responsibility for the actions of the carrier including but not limited to damaged/missing items." This appears to be a disingenuous attempt to have me formally agree to their negligence and lack of accountability. Moreover, they say they're only liable for 60 cents per pound per article which doesn't come close to covering the cost of the items that were lost. I find it absurd that you can just damage and lose a customer's items, casually tell them to file a claim, and then pretend it never happened. Please stay away from Colonial Van Lines as I feel they misrepresent their business by portraying themselves as a professional high-quality moving company but instead contracts out jobs to less reliable movers. P.S. I was contacted by Donna at the Resolutions Department and will update this review if an agreement is reached.

Colonial Van Lines is the most clown-car, Romper Room operation I have ever dealt with. Run--do not…read morewalk--away from this company. For anyone considering hiring them, let me explain exactly how the experience works. First, Colonial is NOT a direct moving company as they present themselves. They are very clearly a middleman broker who collected the money, marked up the price, and then contracted the actual move to an independent moving company that did all the work for a fraction of the payment. Colonial added cost, confusion, and another layer of people to deal with, but no actual value. The entire setup felt like a bait and switch. The communication was abysmal. Their operation seems to run almost entirely on canned emails, scripted talking points, and layers of contacts with random employees. Trying to have a meaningful conversation with anyone was painful. You also get trapped in a ridiculous triangle between Colonial, the contracted mover, and yourself. The two companies seem to have no direct communication. Several times during the move, my Colonial "Moving Coordinator" was calling me--the customer--to ask if I knew the mover's status. Apparently I was coordinating the move for the Moving Coordinator. I lived in a congested city and needed a firm move-out date to secure HOA approval, reserve the loading area, and obtain street permits. They did not disclose until after I was under contract, that they would only provide a vague date range and refused to confirm the actual date until 72 hours beforehand. That 72-hour window fell over a weekend, leaving me scrambling at the last minute to arrange permits and building access. Of course this is for their own scheduling convenience, with no respect for the inconvenience to the customer. Then comes the pricing routine. When you first call, a "Moving Coordinator" walks you through a quick, superficial inventory estimate--usually before you have packed anything or have a realistic sense of what you have. That produces an artificially low number that gets you to sign. Closer to the move, a different person from "Quality Assurance" calls and suddenly discovers that the move will cost substantially more. In my case, the original estimate of 6629 lb later ballooned to 8,344 lbs. The actual documented weight ended up 7100 lbs. Of course no refund or adjustment for the difference, but I'm sure I would have been notified immediately if the weight was higher. The entire process felt deliberately structured to get me under contract with an artificially appealing estimate, then reveal the real price, restrictions, and logistical problems only after I was committed. Colonial was a pointless and poorly coordinated middleman whose main contribution was collecting a substantial markup. Once they had my money, they became evasive, disorganized, and remarkably unhelpful. Save yourself the frustration. Book directly with a reputable moving company that will actually perform the move, communicate with you, and take responsibility for the service you are paying for.

My experience with All My Sons moving:…read more Do not hire this company is the first thing that I would say for the following reasons. The first reason is the company's and its employees' failure to come to the site prepared. I had two phone calls the day before the two employees arrived to explain what I needed packed. I asked if I needed to provide any packing materials, and I was assured that the company would provide them, which turned out to be a lie. During the phone call, I explained that I have a sectional sofa, two matching recliners, two nightstands, a dresser, a dining room table and chairs, a sleeper sofa, and (1) an 82-inch TV, and (2) a 55-inch TV. The televisions were all wall-mounted and would need to be removed from the wall before packing. All of my furniture was going into a POD that would be picked up the following day. When the employees arrived, they did not have enough packing materials to complete the job, and they complained that they had been given the assignment at the last minute. These two employees placed all of my leather furniture into the pod without wrapping the items in anything that would protect the leather. I even heard one employee tell the other that they needed to hurry. See, employee one wanted to be done with the job in time to go watch his son's football game. In total, I had 4 televisions; however, the ten-year-old 40-inch television in the master bedroom only needed to be removed from the wall and left in the room. What I told the employees was this: "The 82-inch TV needs to be removed and packed." I walked into the master bedroom. This TV needs to be removed from the wall and left leaning against the wall; it's not going with the pod." I walked him upstairs, where each of the guest bedrooms had a fairly new 55-inch smart TV. Me, "I need both of these tv's removed from the walls and packed. I do have one TV box. I'll go tomorrow and get another TV box. WHAT WAS DONE: The employees removed all the televisions, placed one of the 55-inch TVs into the U-Haul box designed for such TVs; however, the TV was not wrapped in a blanket to protect it from damage, and none of the foam inserts were used. It was just left in the box leaning against the wall by the front door. After the employees were paid and quickly left, I discovered several things. The claim that the pod was full and could not hold any more boxes was a lie. With my aunt's help, I placed at least 8 more medium-sized U-Haul boxes into the pod. In addition, while packing those additional boxes, I noticed a small, wrapped item beneath the 55-inch TV box that was leaning against the wall. ALL My Sons hires' thieves: I unwrapped the TV and discovered that the old 40-inch TV, which should have been left in the master bedroom, was wrapped in a blanket, and the other 55-inch TV was gone. Yes, one of the thieves stole my 55-inch TVs and tried to hide his crime by wrapping the old 40-inch TV in a blanket and placing it behind the 55-inch TV, leaning against the wall. I had to fight to get my TV back, and the argument given to me was that I told the employee that I did not want the TV. My question will always be: what gave him the right to walk out of my house with anything, under the impression that because I said I didn't itemize one, he could take the more expensive item number too? The other issue I have is that the 55-inch TV was stolen on Friday and wasn't returned until Saturday. The TV was brought back wrapped in a blanket. The TV was unwrapped so that my sister could inspect it and plug it in to make sure it worked. After, she verified that the TV worked. The employee for All My Sons walked out with the blanket, so they did not re-wrap the TV. I give this company an F. The employee clearly stole the TV and was not even fired for theft; they just claimed this was a misunderstanding. Shelia C.
