WORST SERVICE EVER!!! BUYER BEWARE BEFORE I BEGIN HOW DO I GIVE LESS THAN ZERO STARS?? Where do I begin? The Owner kyle elam and the manager kevin (he wouldn't give me his last name) were rude, condescending and downright disrespectful. The reviews here don't lie and are spot on. I read all the negative reviews but still (by my own terrible judgement) decided to give Colony pools a chance. Why you ask? Because I like to support small local businesses and support them. BIG MISTAKE! When I found out through email that they couldn't keep their scheduled service appointment I called in to verify when they would be able to reschedule. Kevin was aggravated and annoyed that I call and literally said "how many "expletive" (he used the F word) questions do you have? He then hung up on me. I have never been treated so poorly as a paying customer in my life. I honestly hope this review doesn't fall on deaf ears and I am available to answer any questions anyone may have. I don't want to get into how it continued as it really makes me feel really low and upset that I even gave them the opportunity to make right on the bad reviews they have. The owner kylie elom apparently inherited this business from his daddy and obviously doesn't understand what it takes to run a successful business. As he continues this napolionistic and cavalier attitude his gift from his daddy will eventually collapse. He never had to work hard and build a successful business or his reputation so it's easy for him to throw away something he didn't earn. We purchased our home in June 2022. The in group pool looked like a pond. The owner (Tom) came over within several hours of our call. He offered a very reasonable and cost effective solution. The pool was crystal clear within 48 hours. Since then we have continued to use this company and have not been disappointed at all. If we have a concern, the owner actually stops over to evaluate and solve any issues. The staff is respectful, polite and knowledgeable. It's great to know there are still family companies that provide excellent service. read more

We Scheduled our pool to be winterized end of season. Our pool has multiple levels that spill into each other. The technicians quickly performed what I am to know " assume " a complete winterization because they put the cover over our pool. Placed another improperly fitting over our hot tub and without even asking if I had any other supplies simply left. No words nothing just left. Before I had realized they left I received an email confirmation of payment in full. Whaaat??? What ever happened to saying goodbye? Upon calling the office to find out if everything was completed I was spoken to in a very rude manner. Communication is easy, that's all I wanted. They were recommended to me by someone else. When I called, my man sounded angry that I was bothering him. He asked how I got his number as if to say " How dare you sir?!! ". Ok, I was a tradesman for a long time, but no matter what kind of a shitty day I was having, always tried to answer a call with gratitude and respect, so if you were having a bad day, that sucks. contacted colony pools over a month ago to look at my in ground pool that would not fill up past skimmer.had brand new liner put in from a handy man that said he worked for several pool companies.was told by colony pools the man used to work for them and they fired him.i was told i need another brand new liner.i paid 2000 down and was contacted by tom that i had to put more money down.so far i have paid tom the owner and his ignorant son 5000.00 was told by toms son kyle takes 3 to 5 days to make liner.i am a widow and we r at the end of july i am still waiting for liner to be put in.have had constant lies from tom and several very rude emails from his son about when it will be installed.plus a pool liner does not cost 5 grand.i just want my pool liner put in with out money hungry people that do not do their job.stay far away from them.also i asked for discount if i have my son remove liner was given 200 off what a joke. read more

After 14 years with another service we switched since they never came back to fix leaks in 2017. Had to write this review after seeing too many complaints... Tom responsive from day one! They've doubled/quadrupled their business in 3-4 years - Tom catching up by purchasing another pool service company. Give them 2nd /3rd chance. All competent in office, but if still no call back ask for Kevin!! I didn't think I needed a new filter but after 22 years I listened to Tom, pool now crystal clear! This year my motor stopped, fixed a couple times myself and then invested in new variable speed pump. My 23 year old "shark" cleaner now runs like the day it did brand new!! With Covid, rapid growth, sky rocketing inflation, etc. Elam has done the best out of all companies I've seen - regardless of industry. I did price check, most don't call back - one guy said "I don't take new clients" lol. Tom was 10-15% less, installs two weeks sooner, and has never said we can't get there. I paid Elam pools for the Diamond package- pool opening. We were quoted $500 plus dollars and revived $30 discount because we paid early. They deducted $800 plus dollars from our checking account. When we inquired about the additional $300, we were informed that there was a note on the file from the previous year that our grids needed replacing. Despite the fact that this was never explained to us before they deducted the money from our checking account, we trusted the company and assumed that we did in fact need new grids. I should not have ignored the red flag The pool was scheduled to be open on 5/5 - Elam pool was a no show. When we called up they said that they did not come out because it was raining. Pool guys not wanting to get wet - I shouldn't have ignored the red flag From 5/6 - 5/17, I barley saw any workers from Elam pool. When I inquired about why it was taking so long to have the pool up and running, I was given a bunch of excuses. They also failed to show on a couple occasions. I should not have ignored the red flag I contacted Kyle the new owner to express my dissatisfaction. Although, I really didn't accept his explanation of why the pool was not ready for swimming, I just acted pleasant and reasonable because I just wanted these guys to do there job and get out. I thought informing the owner that we were unhappy might get the ball rolling. Of note, during this conversation with Kyle, I indicated that in the past when I had my grids replaced, they showed me the old grids and explained why they needed replacing. I assume he thought that I was implying that he not actually replacing the grids. He became indignant and said "I'm not hard up for money and don't need to charge people for something I didn't do". I actually apologized for coming off accusatory. Guess what - Elam actually did not replace the grids. When I came home from work on Friday 5/14 the pool was disconnected because they just replaced the grids. I was told they would be back during the weekend - NOTHING. I was very busy litigating a trial during the week of 5/17 - nobody from Elam pool did anything to the pool. However, Kyle did leave me 2 fourteen seconds voice mails stating "give me a call". When I contacted him via text on Sunday the 23rd - he actually wrote me that this is a communication problem not a service problem ergo "my fault for not responding to him while I was litigating a jury trial. I told him the problem was that we are 3 weeks into the process and my pool is green, never been vacuumed and now disconnected from the electrical source. He refuses to even come back out to reconnect the electricity. I contacted other pool companies and of course due to the time in the season, they cannot come out for approximately 3 weeks. I'll see Elam in court as I plan to file a civil suit tomorrow. We don't have long swim seasons in PA - do yourself a favor - don't use Elam pools. read more

I recently started using this company as i had a poor experience with another local company. Elam was recommended by my neighbor who had all positive things to say and i must say they didn't disappoint. I initially called them to replace a handrail and within 3 days it was done. This was after I called several other pool companies and got the run around or prices that were insane!! I had them trouble shoot a few other minor issues for me before closing my pool last week. I was doing a search of their company and saw how poorly they were rated. I'm a person who takes consumer feedback very seriously and felt compelled to rate them high bc i know they are deserving. This will now be my go-to company. read more

Looking at reviews I see they have a history of not calling people back. I had the same experience after leaving 3 messages, 2 with a person and one via Tom's Vmail over the course of 2 week. I feel pretty good about not having spent $8k-$10k with them to update my equipment and afterwards being left with no support. read more

This is the best spot to buy chemicals for sure. The guys that work there are nice. The spot is a little hard to find, but chemicals are literally half the cost of every other pool store. And their services (open and close) are cheaper too! read more

Hard to get a hold of. Scheduled work gets cancelled, but eventually show up. I've used them because they are a local company. They recently did some significant tile repairs and the workmanship was horrible. I don't think this was their area of expertise. They came back and tried to remove it by hammering it with screwdrivers. I threw them off the job and had to chisel it all. I had the work redone by someone else and you can't tell even what had been done. They have a good selection of chemicals at fair prices. read more

I have been trying to get these guys to come out and look at my hot tub for the last few months. Every time I call I get the same "we're very busy but they will try to fit me in" The third time I called, I got a date of today (Friday) but they couldn't tell me when, and I should call them on that day to find out. I called today (day of appt) and was told I'm not scheduled, and that they are very busy. These calls include conversation with the owner (Tom) but mostly with the poor guy who must spend his day making excuses for a poorly run business. I would not recommend calling these guys, unless you like the run around, and not solving your issue. read more

Where do I start? I've been a loyal Elam customer for 10+ years. Over that time they opened and closed our pool annually, and ensured our pool worked properly. Unfortunately, this year has been a disaster and I'm writing this review to hopefully save someone from the problems we've experienced. The underlying issue is the new manager named Kevin, who lacks the skills and abilities to be this role. Tom, the owner, was a pleasure to work with, but Kevin is a complete disaster. The first thing Kevin did wrong was sending the opening crew to our house a day late, which isn't a big deal, unless you're trying to sell your house, and have pictures scheduled to be taken. To make matters worse, it was the worst opening in 10 years, and despite paying for their Diamond service our pool was still green after several days and left poorly vacuumed. I called Kevin about the situation, but instead of sending a crew to finish the opening, he became argumentative and unwilling to help. During this time, our pool heater was also removed, but unfortunately no instructions were left for us to follow and our filter was not running. After some calls, Kevin did stop over to resolve this issue. During his visit, he finally acknowledged the pool was not vacuumed property, but never sent a crew to fix the situation. I called the next day to follow up and he was argumentative, so I told him that he lost a customer. Instead of trying to resolve the situation he hung up on me like a baby. I called back to speak to Tom and he told I could come over to do that, which I did. I shared my candid feelings about Kevin's childish behavior and poor customer service to Tom directly in Kevin's presence. Tom immediate had a crew out to the house to finish our opening within hours. Tom is a good man, I hate writing a bad review about Elam because of the negative impact to the business; however, Kevin once again screwed up. A recent inspection found issues with our filter, so I called Elam. As usual Kevin answered, who offered to write a letter that the filter was in good working order without inspecting it. I asked if he or someone could simply come over to validate that statement as we don't want to misrepresent anything to the buyer of our house. Kevin said he would come over, but never showed up on two occasions. In the interim, our pool turned green because the filter isn't working properly, so I drove over to Elam to buy liquid chlorine and ask Kevin when he's going to look at our filter. I again explained that I needed a document from them with recommendations for the filter on Wednesday for the buyer and asked if he would he be coming to assess the filter. Kevin told me he would not come to look at the filter and at this point, I lost it with Kevin ... I would never use Elam pools again and I would not recommend them. I find it hard to believe I am the only one that is having issues with Kevin's lack of customer service and overall bad attitude. Leslie Pools came out to assess the filter and valve and we found that we do need to replace it. Kevin just wanted to write a note that the filter was in good working order and did not need servicing or replacement without even looking at it; that is not ethical and since he refused to come out to assess it, it is a lost opportunity for Elam Pools. read more
