Ordered $1,000 worth of extensions, was told 4 packs, not detailed on receipt I was given. Also told $400 for installation including color and styling every 4 months, so $1400 every 4 months versus paying monthly $375 and hair good for about a year. I thought I was going to save $100. The day of the installation when she grabbed the boxes, she said it was only 3, that she was confused with someone else , red flag! then at cashier, was supposed to pay now $800 installation + tip, not the $1400 quoted initially, more like $1800 + tip. I have an elephant memory, but I don't like my intelligence to be insulted. So if you insist on going there for a consultationor whatever, get everything in writing and detailed or you will get surprises, unless you don't care and have a bottomless budget. i always trust and verify and like to receive what I paid for. I was promised the invoice showing the number of packs and never got and she mentioned a "paper" where everything was written down, no such thing! just the receipt for the $1,000 extensions and no quantity. I had long curly, frizzy hair so we did a Bob-style cut and off with a few inches. My hair was soft and straight for a change. My hair looked great once Steph was done with me. It was an hour appt I believe which is good with all that she did. So from walking in the door til leaving it was just a great atmosphere and everyone was so nice. My schedule is usually pretty hectic but it was no problem scheduling an appointment with Lorraine. The last appointment for my micro braids was set for 9pm. She worked quickly and diligently to braid my hair and finished before 3am. The time went by so fast (because I was able to watch and enjoy some really good movies)! So when she says that she offers a 24 hour service... she truly means it!! This was a blessing to me. I also LOVE that Lorraine is fast! Before going to Lorraine for my micro braids, I used to get micro braids at a shop where three or four people would braid my hair all at once. I really didn't enjoy those experiences at all but thought that with this many people braiding my hair... I'd be done quicker. Well, when Lorraine initially told me how long it would take for her to do my micros I was shocked. Not only did she work alone but she finished my hair quicker than when it was three or four people working on my head all at once. Needless to say, it was also for a more affordable price!!! Lorraine always goes straight through when braiding. The last time she braided my hair, she only stopped once to use the restroom and then she was back at it and I was done in no time! I decided to write this review because before getting micro braids this last time, I decided to go elsewhere to get a Keratin hair treatment. After that process, I experienced major breakage and hair loss. I told Lorraine about the damage and she told me not to worry about it. I was very happy that she offered to cut/trim my hair before braiding. Honestly, I was more amazed that she was able to grip and braid the damaged/shorter hair with ease. I was so impressed with Lorraine's work, especially this time around because (even with ALL of the damage) not one braid came out!! These braids lasted for more than three months. Furthermore, these micro braids were so small, I was able to take GREAT care of my scalp by washing and moisturizing it properly. I washed and conditioned my hair multiple times and (I REPEAT) didn't lose a single braid! She so dependable! The same weekend she braided my hair, she also braided my mom and daughter's hair. I like how she effectively communicated with me throughout the entire process. She always followed up with a receipt, text message and/or a call and there was never any mix ups about the deposits, pricing, hair, appointment times, and etc. So many people stop and ask me all the time who did my hair. I was confident that it was quality work and others could see it too. Lorraine started braiding my moms hair almost two decades ago and started braiding my hair shortly after. I love that she's so consistent and that her business continues to grow. The environment is so welcoming and inviting. It's a really nice, neat, and clean atmosphere! I love how when getting my hair done it's just me. I also like that there are always great movies to watch. It makes the time FLY by! I reached out to the stylist on Instagram multiple times telling her the hair quality was deteriorating extremely fast every time it was washed and nothing was done. The only reason I paid as much as I did was because I was told the hair was supposed to last 6-8 months wow.... what a shame. I also only used their shampoo, conditioner and styling products but nothing helped. It was extremely dry and even other stylist would tell me that the hair could not be 100 percent human hair. I was absolutely taken advantage of and very disappointed. Nope. After about a month my extensions were getting completely matted to a point I couldn't even brush them (mind you I sleep in a silk hair wrap and have silk sheets). Still decided to give this salon another shot because I heard all the great reviews. Got my hair moved up and colored ... which cost me 900$!? Still, thinking it was normal decided to schedule another appointment. I love my hair bright blonde and this was a third of the time and a third of the price. She was able to do my hair, color, and extensions in 3 hours and was also able to remove an unneeded weft (which would've saved me a few hundred $ if color co could have placed them the way she did and not charged for an extra weft). This was absolutely devastating and heartbreaking for both me and my child as I reminded the owner that she had taken the appointment in person and had promised me that they would be able to provide the services for which I made the appointment :-( I decided to visit Yngrid Dominican Beauty Salon to ask if they would be able to care for my daughter's hair which is similar to mine in texture except that hers is much fuller, longer, and thicker curls. Yngrid was warm, courteous, and professional. She quickly guided me to the Booksy app with the help of the kind client who was in her chair, I was able to schedule my appointment. When we arrived a few days later, they were extremely warm and welcoming. Though Yngrid was not able to do my daughter's hair, I was VERY HAPPY with the lovely, sweet, and knowledgeable lady who ended up doing my daughter's hair; she was FANTASTIC; unfortunately, I forgot her name. She called me over a couple of times to show me a bit of damage in my daughter's hair and to talk about how much hair needed to be trimmed. Let's say that my daughter and I were both elated with the services we received and the result, and we are planning to return when possible so her hair can be treated and trimmed regularly, and I may even schedule an appointment for myself soon as I am in dire need of a trim and deep treatment :-) Thank you to Yngrid and her wonderful team including the lady who initially washed my daughter's hair.
