Victoria's is still a solid five stars for hair removal!…read more Since my first review over a decade ago, a few things have changed - the studio moved (just a few blocks east, with better parking in my opinion), I've moved (a few times!), I tried laser hair removal (meh), and Dao has upgraded her electrolysis machine (making her process even faster). Through all the changes, my rating and loyalty remains. I can even walk across the street from where I currently live to get waxed instead of driving across the Bay Bridge and halfway across the city to get to Victoria's, but I still prefer Dao! Dao's efficiency, excellent work, affordable prices, and sweet, chatty demeanor keep me coming back. Although my first Brazilian electrolysis session was over 7 years ago, I have only booked/been able to tolerate 30 minute sessions, 1-3x per year. Certain areas of the body have more stubborn hair that requires more sessions, and Dao is very upfront about all of this. A few weeks after each session I notice less and less hair regrowing; there are certain areas where hair has never come back, and the areas that she continues to work on gets smaller and smaller. I look forward to my next session with Dao and I'm thinking I will ask her health/beauty tips, because she doesn't look a day older than the first day I met her!

The nail tech assigned to me didn't even say hello, yet fawned over the "regulars." The actual pedicure was sloppy and unprofessional. The attached photo speaks for itself--uneven shape, sloppy paint job, and a small lint on the right big toe. When I politely asked the nail tech to fix it, she rudely said "I know!" But didn't even fix it in the end. In addition, she did not cap the free edges and the next day, the nail polish chipped on a few nails (not pictured).

As a new mom that doesn't have family on the West Coast, I've been finding it difficult to navigate self care and discovering the inaccessibility to find time for myself whilst taking care of a newborn. The owners John and his lovely wife Linh, made this a non issue for me. Linh legit looked after my little one so I can have some proper postpartum maintenance - honestly the sweetness that ensued created a core memory (insert smiley teary eyed emoji here). As far as quality of service- top no- John is a great listener. He really personalized the hair color I wanted to me and the current condition of my hair. I had asked for light rose gold and he delivered a dynamic rose gold with lilac and blonde undertones. Girl what?! Stunning. The color has dimensions and depth and really suits my complexion. Cali is Amazing! I've always gone to basic salons to get Gel nails near me50 acrylics because I know what to expect for the price I'm paying (lumpy thick and break easily). Out of fear of spending too much for the same experience I've never gone to an independent artist. But I decided to reach out to her yesterday for an engagement set and she was able to squeeze me in today for a set. She explained the whole process and was very lively and charismatic! I gave her a few ideas and trusted her with the rest and I have to say, I've never felt so comfortable asking for what I wanted without fear of inconveniencing the artist. My roots turned out to be a completely different color from the rest of my hair (more light brown/orange than the light blonde I had on my rest of my hair), and it was really unblended (there's a pretty clear strip of black hair between the root touch up + my original blonde) I didn't notice when I got out of the salon because I also had a semi-permanent pink color applied on top of my hair so when I left, everything looked pretty uniformly pink. It was only about 1.5 months later when the color fully washed out that I realized how uneven/unblended my roots were from my original blonde. Ultimately decided to write a review after I finally went to another salon to get it all evened out and realized how crazy it looked from the back lol. I've seen pretty great reviews for the person who did my hair regarding blonde/color so maybe this was just a one-off mistake but I don't know that I would recommend coming here for any kind of root touch up/going significantly lighter blonde

He really takes his time, and I really appreciate that. They both travel to Japan to get & bring back the Japanese Straightening solutions, too!
