I wanted to cut off about six inches, keep some long layers, and add bangs that would look good both curly and straight. I walked out with exactly what I asked for and more. Crystal is the BEST! She is able to replicate any photo I show her on my hair, without drying it out or compromising the health of my hair (and I like to change my tone/color frequently). Ten stars! My experience at this place is always great. Courtney cuts my hair brilliantly and on top of that she has been so kind. Once when I was going in to the hospital and my hair was a catastrophe ( because I had not made an appointment when I should have) , Courtney found some way to squeeze me in. It was going to be really hard to have it that way in the hospital and I already felt bad. Another time, my kid got a bad haircut somewhere else and Courtney fixed it while my hair was soaking in conditioner. She also gives me product guidance that is so helpful. Once I was leaving town and could not get my hands on a product. Nobody was there ( it was a Sunday or when they ate closed) but when I knocked on the door, Megan was there and she rang me up. I have been coming here since they opened and have always had an amazing experience at this salon. Everyone who works here is so incredibly nice and welcoming not to mention accommodating. OK, I admit it, I am a procrastinator at writing reviews. But today I went to work, and a woman walked, no , ran up to me and started stroking my hair and told me how beautiful my hair looked, and asked if it was it real? It was like she was checking to see if it was a wig because it looked so perfect! Well, that was a first! I have been coming to Damia Salon since April. I just had my third visit last weekend with Damian. It's a comfortable vibe with friendly and fun people who work here. All of the stylists seem to love working here. Everyone's happy and easy-going. But the most important thing of course, is that my hair looks fabulous. As a matter of fact from what I could see, all of the stylists are talented at their craft. I got a haircut at this salon last week and unfortunately it's the worst haircut I've ever gotten :( I wanted the standard layers and side bang, also showed a picture and specifically asked to keep the length. But the end result was nothing like the pic and to make it worse the stylist cut off 4-5 inches. I paid $125 for a hairstyle that has zero style and just looks like a blob of hair. She cut off most of my hair volume too. I was so looking forward to a fresh new look for an upcoming trip and now I'm having to hide my hair in a bun. Extremely disappointed :( read more

I just want to update my review to continue to sing the praises of Anthony Cuevas and now also Joy Tolentino! I have exclusively seen Anthony for years, but he was out of town when Covid restrictions lifted and I was in dire need of a haircut. Anthony suggested that I see Joy for my haircut, because Joy is really great with long hair and my curly texture. I requested a last minute cut with Joy, and her customer service and flexibility were impeccable! I was nervous to come in after being quarantined since March, but it was worth it. Joy was very thoughtful and took her time during my consultation, which lasted more than most aka not 60 seconds. She didn't make me feel stupid when I suggested something that might not be right for my hair texture. In fact, she said, "Yes, I can see what you're aiming for, so let's achieve something similar that works more for your everyday routine." Are there better words spoken to a woman in a hair salon? While I will never leave Anthony Cuevas, it was nice to cheat on him this once with Joy lol!!! PS. This man is the most bizzar,unprofessional person I've ever come across in the beauty industry. He literally did a consultation with me in May of 2022. He provided me with his contact information to set up an appoint for a very expensive service. I was super excited... When I attempted to reach out to him 5 different times ....he simply went dark. I gave him the benefit of the doubt I had and even reached out earlier this week 2/28/2023. I've mentioned this to several friends who live in San Francisco and they were just as baffled as I was. Damia Salon is a beautiful boutique salon in Noe Valley, and does amazing hair. Everything from beautiful cuts, color, highlights, keratin, extensions, blow outs and more . Damian and his business partner, and the whole Salon make you feel like you are family, and are the most courteous humans. I've been going to this salon for years and have had nothing but compliments on my hair and the work they do. Besides me, they also have styled both of my teenage sons hair, and now they both don't want to ever go anywhere else. One of my sons has super curly hair, the other super straight and stylish. I kept meaning to update my review. Stacy left Damia salon & I loved the actual salon so I decided to schedule my next hair cut with Anthony. So glad I did! I hadn't gotten my hair cut in almost a year (I know, I'm terrible) and it was sooooo long and had so many split ends (damn you, windy SF!). As I mentioned in my last review, I was determined to go shorter than usual. I had lost some weight, was feeling myself, so I went for it! Anthony was super sweet, didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all (sometimes having a convo with your stylist can be awkward if you're new), and really listened to what I wanted. I had a few pictures for reference and he decided on something similar that would fit my face better. The shampoo, cut & style was amazing. I really enjoyed my experience. The only reason I haven't returned is because I moved back to Miami. But Anthony definitely would have been my forever stylist had I stayed in the Bay! Oh also, I went on a Sunday which was awesome. I used to work at hair salons & most of them are closed Sundays/Mondays. If I'm not mistaken, Anthony was the only one working that day (this appointment was a while ago) If you're looking for a more chill experience, I would recommend coming on a Sunday! read more

Joy is my new go-to gal - I've been coloring my hair since I was 15 (although that was over a sink with a box of Feria) so I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly. Joy goes to the top of the list with her attention-to-detail, coloring skills, and natural desire to make people love beautiful. I've now seen her for caramel balayage, rose gold hair, and hair cuts, and she's dont an equally fabulous job every single time. She is also a beast with the blowdryer and curling iron and will make sure you get a great style before you leave her chair. One of my favorite things about Joy is how she likes to keep it real to make sure you leave happy - a lot of times I'll come in with a pinterest board full of haphazard ideas and she will tell me which looks will work, which ones won't, and what's achievable in a single session. Additionally, she doesn't sacrifice your hair's integrity to make a quick buck and she puts time into deep conditioning and treating the hair to make sure your hair looks great well after you leave the salon. Her honesty and expertise means a lot to me. Finally, as an introvert, I hate having awkward conversations or feeling like I have to make small talk - Joy is a) an absolute pleasure to talk with - her laugh is infectious! b) knows when to shut it down and just work - she won't interrupt if you're in the middle of a youtube video and you won't feel rude putting your headphones in either. The salon itself is beautiful, street parking is abundant, and they have wine and coffee available in basically unlimited quantities. And hey, Joy has a phone charger in her chair so you never have to run out of juice AND she has a ring light and will snap great photos of you. You will leave feeling like a million dollars. I was a first time visitor to the salon and saw Crystal. I had long hair and asked for a trim up to my collar bone. She cut off more than 3 inches. By the time I noticed, it was too late. I was referred to Anthony at Damia Salon from another of his clients. I have not had my hair cut in almost two years because I was so upset with the last cut I had done by someone else. The last cut I had, I asked for a few inches off and left with way more than a few inches off and very upset. I met with Anthony at Damia and we talked about what I wanted. He listened, he gave his input and I was nothing less than in love when I left.
