Ibanez JS100 looking and playing new again!
    Chris H.

Chris did an amazing job! I brought my 2001 Ibanez JS100 into his shop. It had fret buzz and scratchy knobs. This guitar has a Floyd Rose Tremolo system and it was beyond my skill level to set up. Not for Chris. He was able to revive my love for this guitar. Chris even followed up with me days after to see if I was happy with his work. I really appreciated that and I will drop off my acoustic with fret buzz for repair/setup. I recommend Chris. He seems to truly love guitars and it shows by the way he took care of my guitar and talked about it with love.

I'm struggling to find a way to describe this place. The vibe reminds me of a tiny record shop I used to love frequenting as a kid, a musical instrument store where all the clerks were seasoned musicians and a stereo store I also used to frequent so I could browse the latest stereo amplifiers, speakers and turntables. From what I can tell this place doesn't sell speakers, turntables and stereo amplifiers, though I did see many around the place, some taken apart (waiting repair?) My point is there is just something musically indescribable about this place that makes me want to hang out here. Chris, the owner, had music playing on an 8-track player for background music, was chatting with a guy at the counter but was available for questions and in general just made the place and us feel relaxed and welcomed. No pressure, browse until your heart's content, there are lots to look at, beautiful guitars, guitar strings, cables and cords, guitar amps, used CDs and vinyl albums, 8 track tapes and cassettes. And if you don't see what you want, Chris will find a way to get it for you, maybe even a turntable or stereo? I'll just have to find out next time I go back!

Chris is fantastic, I've been going to see him since he was at Rockley's. Always makes me feel taken care of, he's worked on every instrument I have, from set-ups, to installing pick ups or working on amps. You won't regret meeting him and getting work done. He has a fantastic vinyl collection too, go in and browse or just talk about gear. He's great for it all.

    Great spot!

Wonderful, very fast work on my guitar. It sounds much better after he set it up, adjusted the neck, and polished the frets.

But I've always found stuff I wanted there, even if I had to dig around. The redesign streamlines the shopping experience and lets me find things I want without feeling like I have to go through a lot of effort to find them. Incredible turnaround on that side of things. The biggest drawback to shopping at FYE is the checkout process. This has made me dread shopping at FYE, and it hasn't changed. I've literally had things in my hand, looked at the checkout lane, and thought, "Nah, it's not worth it" and put them back and left. Here's why: "Did you find everything you wanted today?" "Yeah, thanks!" "You know, if you get another Pop! it's only $X with our sale." "Oh okay, thanks, I'll go get another." (makes a desperation choice because of the "deal") "Are you a member?" "No, I'm good, thanks." "If you sign up, you can save X amount." "No, I'm good." "Oh, if you get another pair of socks, they're X off!" "I'm good." "Are you sure?" "Yes." "With your purchase today you can pick any two magazines from this list to receive free for X months." "I'm good." I understand why they ask, and it's most likely because they're pressured by management to upsell so much. FYE management probably looks at reports that detail % transactions with membership cards, number of missed upsell opportunities, % transactions with those free magazines that turn into not-free magazines, etc etc etc. This part of FYE hasn't changed over the years, and it makes for a terrible customer experience. So far all the positives of the redesign and marketing in-store, they're almost all lost at checkout due to a draconian customer engagement strategy.

This store scams people through a membership program that they pretend is a free rewards program…read more They get your credit card information through your purchase and then save it in their systems to charge you again and again. Not only that they also purposely misspelled my name and email by adding in random letters so I could not receive benefits or know about the subscription unless checking my bank statements. I only found out after getting a letter about an increase in the membership fee. I tried to get a refund but they said they couldn't due to the "terms and conditions" that I never even had the ability to agree to.

This market is a must do! As a seasoned thrifter/vintage/antique shopper, this is one of the…read morelargest antique malls / vintage markets I've encountered. Whatever you're into, you can find it here - beautiful art, brass, copper, milk glass, depression glass, china, chinoiserie, ginger jars, vintage CorningWare and Tupperware, beautiful antique furniture, jewelry, Barbies, books, vinyl, real vintage clothing and fur coats, animal skins, all sorts of collectibles - you will find it all here! Also lots of western/equestrian items such as saddles and boots. Unfortunately not a lot of silver on the day I went, but I did find some beautiful silver spreaders. I also found the most gorgeous copper water pitcher that I initially left behind, but obsessed over until I went back later and got it! iykyk As with all markets like this, prices vary by booth, but overall I found them to be higher than average (for the things I consistently see and shop for). So you may find your unicorn, but you probably won't find it for a bargain. The market is laid out in a perfect grid pattern, making it super easy to navigate and ensure you don't miss any booths. The front right quadrant consists of rows of locked cases. While it absolutely makes sense for certain things to be under lock and key - like jewelry and small items, delicate and fragile items that shouldn't be handled, super rare and valuable antiques - many of the items in the cases were none of these things. I found this annoying, especially if the price wasn't readily visible. Many booths are well curated and organized, but many others are a hodge-podge assortment of completely unrelated items. Plan to spend at least two-three hours here, and more if you follow the golden rule of making a second lap! I did make a second lap (not of the cases) and spent 3.5 hours. Happy shopping!

The odd array indeed captivated us for a good thirty minutes so there was that! Most of the stuff in glass cases made for an interesting, never ending feel to an antique shop that I haven't got before. The cherry on top of the experience was seeing the sign saying "refills are not free!" - really made us feel welcome. When…read morewe were given a working hand-me-down clarinet from a friend, we returned the rental and asked Golden Music about having the other clarinet checked over. I was surprised to learn that Golden Music wanted $25 just to look at the instrument and tell me what repairs it might need. Even before a full evaluation, I was told it likely needed between $600 and $800 worth of work, but I would have to pay the $25 fee to find out exactly what was needed. I also asked what it would cost to purchase the rental clarinet we had been using and was quoted $587. At $42 per month, we had already paid approximately $378 in rental fees, so purchasing the instrument would have brought our total cost to nearly $1,000 for a student clarinet, even with the "buy it now" discount. I was also told that if we stopped renting over the summer, we would lose any credit toward purchasing the instrument, which felt unnecessarily pressure-filled. Something about the experience didn't sit right with me, so I decided to get a second opinion. I called around and took the clarinet to Flesher-Hinton Music in Wheat Ridge. They looked at it for free and told me that not all of the corks and pads needed to be replaced. Instead, they recommended a cleaning and replacing one cork joint, with a total estimate of $95. The difference between the two assessments was significant. Based on my experience, I strongly encourage parents to get a second opinion before agreeing to major repair work. Flesher-Hinton was knowledgeable, helpful, and transparent about what the instrument actually needed. I won't be returning to Golden Music and would not recommend them based on my experience.
