Chris did an amazing job! I brought my 2001 Ibanez JS100 into his shop. It had fret buzz and scratchy knobs. This guitar has a Floyd Rose Tremolo system and it was beyond my skill level to set up. Not for Chris. He was able to revive my love for this guitar. Chris even followed up with me days after to see if I was happy with his work. I really appreciated that and I will drop off my acoustic with fret buzz for repair/setup. I recommend Chris. I'm struggling to find a way to describe this place. The vibe reminds me of a tiny record shop I used to love frequenting as a kid, a musical instrument store where all the clerks were seasoned musicians and a stereo store I also used to frequent so I could browse the latest stereo amplifiers, speakers and turntables. From what I can tell this place doesn't sell speakers, turntables and stereo amplifiers, though I did see many around the place, some taken apart (waiting repair?) My point is there is just something musically indescribable about this place that makes me want to hang out here. Chris, the owner, had music playing on an 8-track player for background music, was chatting with a guy at the counter but was available for questions and in general just made the place and us feel relaxed and welcomed. No pressure, browse until your heart's content, there are lots to look at, beautiful guitars, guitar strings, cables and cords, guitar amps, used CDs and vinyl albums, 8 track tapes and cassettes. And if you don't see what you want, Chris will find a way to get it for you, maybe even a turntable or stereo? I'll just have to find out next time I go back! read more

My wife called this place for a electric guitar to be re-stringed and was quoted $20.00 dollars, I took the guitar in and it needed a wammy bar, so he said $48.00 dollars, we go in to pick up the guitar and it only had 2 new strings, no wammy bar, but he still charged me $48.00 dollars and said to order one on Amazon myself, I said why am I still being charged $48.00 dollars? He states he would order one and 3 weeks later still nothing. My son is learning the guitar and this guy is busy ripping off customers. Not a good look. I took my Telecaster and my Gretsch in to Chris for a setup, and he did an amazing job. I told him how I wanted each guitar set up and he delivered big time. I thought my guitars sounded good before, but I feel like he gave me back two completely different guitars -- they both play like a dream now! When I went to pickup it was ~$70.. when I asked why he said it was bc he added the price of the strings.... Please be honest about your pricing. Chris filed down the bridge, adjusted the truss rod, oiled the neck, and put new strings on, and it plays easily and beautifully--all for much less than $100. I came in here to hunt through the vinyl they sell. This is a good selection here and the management is laid back. I had a few good finds and broke my budget and still need to go back and hunt some more. They have a lot of Jazz, country and rock. It is reasonably priced for a vinyl shop that doesn't specialize in vinyl. I also looked around at the instruments for sale and they seem to have a great selection. He replaced the pegs in her acoustic guitar, restrung it and of course tuned it. He also cleaned up and restrung a 25 year old electric guitar that had just been given to her. I am extremely glad I found this place through a friend's recommendation. If you're in the Lakewood area (Arvada, Denver, Littleton, etc.), go give Chris and his wife a visit at Spaceman Guitars! He's been in the business for 20+ years, and his expertise truly shows in his work. I'm also all about supporting local businesses, especially if they're not part of a chain. I moved to Colorado 2.5 years ago from California and I (irresponsibly) failed to get my guitars properly taken care of in this desert climate. I finally brought my electric, acoustic, and bass guitars in for a set up yesterday, and Chris got them all looking and sounding almost as good as the day I bought them new! The turnaround was also less than 24 hours! What's even better... his prices are more than reasonable. He charged me $50/guitar, as opposed to other stores charging $75-85 per guitar. A good friend of mine went to Chris and was charged $45 for his strat set up, which also turned out incredibly flawless. Again, this store is owned by just Chris and his wife. It's literally a mom and pop shop that I would encourage anybody to support. They are hardworking, honest folks. High quality work + extremely reasonable prices + awesome selection of new and used guitars & amps (especially the Gretsch selection)... why would you not support an honest business like theirs?
