You should talk to your State legislators if you think they need more resources. The DMV has made a huge effort to upgrade to a modern computing platform. The system went live on February 16, 2026 and not only streamlines the workflow at DMV offices, it also offers the new myDMV portal which can be used to manage personal information, receive electronic notices, renew your driver's license, pre-register for a license/permit/ID, check status, renew registration, schedule appointments, and other routine services. There's also a new MVExpress service, 70 automated kiosks scattered around the State, generally at DMV offices or grocery stores. Most online transactions can also be performed at the kiosks. The hope is that many basic transactions will be done online or at a kiosk, freeing up the DMV staff to handle the more complex issues. I had a title transfer, so I went to the DMV office in person. The only DMV entrance at this location is the door off the parking lot in the rear of the building. Three people are allowed inside at one time to line up at the check-in desk. A friendly staffer quickly reviewed my issue and assigned me a number via a text to my cell phone. I was to leave the building once I was in the queue. You can return once you reach fifth place in the electronic line. There's a link in the initial text to a real-time app that shows your exact place in the queue. This works very well. You can leave and go about your business. Just return when you're approaching the end of the line. I arrived at 9:40 a.m. on a Thursday. It took me eight minutes to check-in. There were five people ahead of me and the line moved fairly quickly. The staffer thought it would be two hours until my number came up; it actually took three hours, but I was able to deal with my day while watching the countdown on the app. I returned to the office when I got to eighth on the queue, sat outside for a bit, then was allowed to go to the waiting room when I hit fifth. It took 30 minutes in all to be called to a window from eighth place and I spent 15 minutes with the staffer. Seating outside the building is very limited, two concrete benches on the front of the building facing Tremont Place. The staff suggests sitting in your car if you need to wait, but this can be uncomfortable on a warm day. Some additional, shaded seating would be a nice addition. There are a number of coffee shops and restaurants within the immediate area. Everything ran pretty smoothly. I think this system is about as effective as the DMV can be, given their personnel limitations. Two out of ten windows were operating when I made it to the waiting room, then a third opened after awhile. All of the staffers seemed friendly and willing to help. The crowd of customers was patient and polite. It is really helpful to see the queue and to know your exact status.

I feel like everything they do is so broken and inefficient. Will that ever change? I doubt it. A lot of people visiting this location were mad at the employees for various reasons but it wasn't their fault. If anything I felt that the employees here were doing all they can to help everyone. The URL they provide to check your place in line didn't work. The parking lot here is relatively small for how many people they service here but there is plenty of street parallel parking available in the area. Make sure to do your research and bring all the documentations that you need!

I'm not sure when it was updated, but I'm thinking 1980 something. It's dated, looks dirty, and is in a strip mall where some ladies were looking for customers to take to the motel across the street. The Process-I can tell you that there are people with appointments, who are in and out in 15 min or less. For the rest, it could take a while. Not an extremely long time, but they speed up dramatically when it's closing time. The Employees- Yes, it's obvious some hate their jobs. Most are friendly and courteous, a few were curt and in my opinion, need a hug, a role model, or someone to tell them things are going to be ok. The Customers- Wow. This place has a rough crowd. There is a sign to let you know you will be removed for being loud or violent. This is a bring a book, dont make too much eye contact kind of place. For those in the know, it's prison rules in here. It was a pretty good experience, but the tension in here could be cut with a knife. Good luck, and remember you can renew online before your license expires, and skip this whole experience.

As I watched people come in not aware of the situation. She treated each individual as if they didn't understand what she was saying, before they could say anything she would cut them off rolling her eyes. Alex had a very distasteful demeanor. Poor customer service. She shouldn't be the face representing the state. I will never return to this location.

I was then told I would have to schedule another appointment for two weeks out, even though my license expires before then, due to their mess up. They were not willing to work with me in any way and the lady at the front desk was very condescending. It was the worst DMV experience I have ever had.

Waited an additional hour after getting a special S number (they verified I had been skipped) and then I decided to give up and try another day. I returned the next day, waited almost 2 hours, and then was finally able to register my vehicle. I honestly wanted to give them 1 star, but I decided on 2 stars because the security guard at the front and all of the staff members inside were actually very friendly and pleasant. This is unfortunately just exactly how a DMV works, and as long as you expect it going into your DMV experience, you shouldn't be let down. Nevertheless, I will say that this DMV could do a better job at highlighting which services they no longer provide. It is my understanding that they recently stopped providing specific services, because SEVERAL individuals waited in line for hours just to be told that they could not complete that transaction there. I think that is unacceptable, and services should be very clearly posted everywhere. Also, you have to check in with a staff member at a desk in order to get your number, and they ask you what you are there for. Issues like that should get ironed out there, not after waiting several hours.
