Kelly from Colorado Kit Co. verbally yelled at me on the phone, in addition to having left condescending and harassing voice mails, text messages, and emails. Kelly from Colorado Kit Company threatened to keep and commandeer my deposit (nearly $100 dollars with tax and shipping even though you have to pick it up yourself) in addition to forcing the entire cost (valued at over $210, in her opinion) of the kit to my credit card because I could not return her kit within her required 24 hour window due to a winter storm blizzard here in Colorado last winter in 2016 that left roads hazardous and deadly to commute in for over 72 hours. After having returned the kit, Kelly from Colorado Kit Co. continued to harass me because her kit was lacking a total of two or three hair clips, 4 duck bill clips, one empty 2oz plastic bottle, and one miniature spray bottle. All of which retail for one single dollar at any retail store, even though Kelly from the Colorado Kit Co threatened, again, to charge me for the cost of the entire kit (over $210 plus shipping plus tax.) The kit is filled with low grade items that any cosmetologist, Esthetician, barber, or hairstylist, should already have an abundance of either at beauty school, in their own professional kit, or from their peers and cohorts. It's a 50/50 shot you'll need it again to re-take the exam, in all reality, and Colorado Kit Co charges $50 plus tax plus shipping for a refill for any exam re-takes. Do yourself a favor and make your own kit since it costs much much less than a rental and so you know it during the state boards, front to back, inside and out. read more

Colorado Kit Company is the best and very detailed training you can have in 2-3 hours, for your preparation for the state board exam, than 13 month of good cosmetology school will give you! I have to say this, Kelly was pleasure to meet with and she is outstanding! OMG! 10000% recommending! I rented my kit for my cosmetology practical test from Colorado kit company and so happy that I did! Kelly is very helpful, energetic and very organized. The day before picking up my kit she sent out a text message with "10 things you need to know". In the message she encourages you to go through your kit before the test to get comfortable and to make sure everything is included. My kit was perfect! DO NOT RENT A KIT FROM THIS COMPANY Colorado needs more cosmetology/barber state boards kit rental companies. Let me start off by saying she is not flexible with pick up times, I actually had to leave work in the middle of the day to go get this flaming piece of kit. For $80 for the cosmo kit you get a duffel bag full of used garbage. The tape on the labels had pieces of hair stuck in it. The acrylic powder was old and clumpy. Nail files and buffers were used. Capes were torn. Mannequin stand was busted and did not tighten enough. The only plus side to renting this kit is that everything is labeled for you (again, if you don't mind hair slivers stuck in a label that hasn't been changed since 2008). Oh, but best of all? The razor in the kit was DULL. did not cut hair at all. I should have checked it but for $80 nothing in that kit should have had to be replaced with my own supplies. I lost 50% of the points on my haircut because I was lucky enough to get the razor only scenario. The real kicker? I failed by one point. Had the razor been even an ounce more usable, I'd probably have my license by now. Also, a friend of mine recently rented a kit and the entire skin care bag was EMPTY! I was told to rent a kit from kelly because people who rent kits pass boards. But, if you don't pass, don't expect your money back OR a discount for your second test! She offered $10 off...wow, after seeing what trash your kits are I am not handing you another $70. Do yourself a favor and build your own kit. Your psi packet has a complete checklist of everything you need. Most things you will already have from your cosmetology school kit, and most of the rest you can honestly pick up at the dollar store. Really sad that we spend so much money on our education and there is no good company in Colorado to help you be prepared and equipped for state boards. Talk to your instructors from your school if you need help with your kit. Don't go to Colorado kit company, unless you really think a bag of garbage is going to help you pass state boards. read more

I have NEVER been so disrespected by an owner of a company. When I took my practical test there were a few minor things missing from my kit (ex: the nail glue in the kit was completely gone for my nail service). Also, the headstand was "flopping" around during my cut which was pretty embarrassing. I kindly messaged the owner after the test informing her of the mishaps. I completely understand that people make mistakes. She then called me and told me that I had made the mistakes and was overlooking. She yelled at me and disrespected me until I cried. She only then apologized and offered to help me after I told her that I would no longer use, nor reccomend her company. When I dropped off my kit with my sister (because I did not want to face her alone) she compensated me $20 and told me not to speak negatively about her company. I am not one to discredit hard work. However, I will never reccomend my friends and fellow beauty influencers to rent or purchase from this company. read more

Kelly is wonderful. She is super informative and honest with you about what to expect. I talked to her for about 45 minutes when picking up my kit and she answered all my questions and gave me some great pointers for taking my test that most definitely helped me pass. She sent me a text message the night before picking it up that explained everything about renting the kit. It's important to go through and double check that everything is there and in working order. I did a little mock test the night before going through all the steps making sure I had everything I needed. Mine was perfect but I did add a couple things 'just in case' which I didn't end up using. Its convenient that she is close to the Westminster psi location, so you just drop it off as soon as you're done with your test. I absolutely recommend her if you're looking to rent a kit! read more
