Granted, I'm not running out buying appliances every other day, but if i were, I'd try to buy them here. Another reviewer mentions using Buy Now for appliances to help them flip houses affordably. I would totally use them for that! The biggest challenge is either having someone that can swap out your appliances or haul away your old ones. If you use a handyman service, it will cost a bit, but if you're buying something like a fridge, you'll still probably save a lot. They'll hold a purchased item for about a week. I've been shopping for a fridge for several months, resigned to paying an arm and a leg. Buy Now has close outs and scratch and dent appliances for MUCH LESS than new in a store. They're unboxed and ready to go! After much hemming and hawing, I settled on a GE. It was one of the few that didn't have the original packing inside. As I was lining up a handyman to help me get the old one out and the new one in, I got a call. They had tested it and found it did not work. A replacement part was ordered, but i was also given the option to choose a replacement. The guy I hired went to pick it up and it seems like he was in and out quickly. They had refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, and tons more. I'm definitely going back next time I need a new appliance!

They are not Lowes or Menards. Their prices are sometimes high, but they don't sell cheap gear. I wished they'd sell lumber and plants, but maybe it's better that they don't. They get five stars for being the best HARDWARE store in the area. You don't have to buy a huge blister pack to get just one or two of an item. Their clerks know what they have, and it's a good idea to ask them. They sometimes have better alternatives in mind, and their selection is vast for the size store they operate; they can save you a lot of time, unlike the big box stores, where there are no real specialists except the Big Item sales people. He gave me a worst case scenario and how much he thought it would cost to fix it (in which case, he said, he didn't think it would be worth fixing), but he also gave me several other possibilities, some of which I could do myself. A lot of Black's business is from contractors, and that's how I started going here (a couple guys I know work with them). But they're pleasant to regular retail customers too, and they have a good selection for basic hardware needs, as well as lumber and other building materials. Black also does cabinetry and sells some appliances (like kitchen hoods). One thing to know is that Black is part of the Do It Best distribution network. Actually, my only complaint is related to that. I sometimes buy yard/garden supplies here and have been disappointed by crappy plastic imports from China on a couple of occasions. But Black was nice about a return I made, so I can't get too irritated. For the ladies out there, this is the most woman-friendly hardware place in town. Women work the floor sometimes.
