The guys were nice and careful but slow. They seemed somewhat inexperienced. We had a bed, dresser, recliner, small sofa, 6 boxes, and vanity. It took them 3 hours. We had to pay for an extra hour that was originally quoted. Price went from $365 to $502. I had used a competitor for a different move last year and the difference in speed was astounding. On September 9, Ian and Trey from Colt Moving loaded, packed, and transported our household goods from Carmel to Avon. They worked super hard for 9 hours that day making two trips. They handled every item with expert care, and put all our furniture back together just like we wanted it in our new residence, without a single scratch or ding. We received a call at the scheduled arrival time that the driver had called in with covid and so they had to find another drive. Then got moved 4 hours later than moving scheduled time. When movers arrived they were very nice guys and worked hard. But, they packed the truck terribly and didn't take my husband's recommendation, so they ended up not getting everything in the truck in one load and had to come back...increasing the hours and pay. When the team left with the first truckload, their truck broke down. They then had to wait for another truck to come and transfer items from one truck to the other. Lastly, due to a lack of packing the truck well, as well as not caring about proper care of furniture, multiple items were destroyed in the move...our entertainment center was completely jacked up and falling apart...our king-sized mattress was folded in half to walk it up the stairs - breaking inside springs. I was quoted around 3-4 hours for the move. In the end, it was a 9.5 hour day. Just not a great experience and caused additional stress in an already stressfull situation. read more

We live in the Geist area and have used Colt Moving a number of times. They have become the only company we will call. This time Sean and Bill moved all the furniture out of our basement great room, bedroom and a separate living room when we put in new carpet and painted. These were very heavy items (marble top dressers, 80" buffet, antique cabinets, etc.) Everything was handled carefully and then later put back perfectly. Just as our two young men movers were about to start loading there was a fire down the hall from our apartment. Everyone had to evacuate and there was no way to gauge how long before we could get back in (firefighters did get it under control fairly quickly). Nathan said to me were resetting the clock so you want be charge or this unforeseen issue. Finally, Trevor from Colt headquarters sent them to another job and fir me to call when we could get back in. I did and he sent a different team within an hour of my calling him. They were terrific guys, handled everything professionally and efficiently and finished the job in about three hours, far lest than Colt estimated. Since Colt charged by the time my bill was at least $200 less than expected. Great company, great guys doing the moving. HIGHLY recommend using Colt! read more

We moved to Indy from out of state and hired Colt Moving to unload our truck once we arrived. We had a start time that didn't fit within their usual time frames but they were very helpful and accommodating. The guys called to let us know they were on their way and showed up right on time. Noah and Dillion were great! They were very polite and we were impressed with how fast they had the truck unloaded. I will definitely call Colt Moving when we move again. After reading the great reviews, we were disappointed by our experience. We hired 4 movers and two trucks, but the morning of our move one of the trucks broke down and didn't show up till halfway through the job. The crew was nice, but they did complain a lot about the amount and weight of our items which just seemed odd since, well, they're professional movers and we hired them to move it. Most of our items weren't moved to the correct rooms as labeled on the boxes, but after 9+ hours of moving we had already spent way more than planned and moved things ourselves. Two of the crew started out in masks, the two who came late never attempted to wear one, and by the end of the move none were wearing them. Overall, I'd recommend going with another company. read more

WORST movers ever. Extremely expensive and no quality of work. Sent two guys only who were taking their sweet time to build hours and kept pushing us to add a third person. We reluctantly added a third person hoping they'd move faster. They took all day and didn't even get majority of our stuff moved. Damaged our new bedroom suite and offered only $60 as compensation for wrecking and breaking it. What a joke ! Sent the manager Bobbie Bruce a bunch of pictures showing all the damages and they still didn't take any responsibility. Definitely very pricey and not worth hiring. Ended up paying a lot more than other movers that we've used in the past. They charged half of what we paid Colt moving and got the job done completely and properly without breaking or damaging our stuff. Passed on the word to our neighbors to not use them and would not recommend them to anyone. People, save your time and money by not hiring Colt movers for your move. read more

Colt moving scratched up my wood floors and blamed it on my dog. The scratches were positioned directly under my queen size bed so there is no way my dog would have been able to get to where the scratches were and my dog was no longer in the old house where the scratches happened. They did nothing to rectify the damage and sent an email saying their movers would sign an affidavit in court that they did not cause the damage. Do not use this company. read more

Really friendly, quick and helpful crew on the day, and they were able to accommodate our end-of-day move time. You may want to ask about masked crew members ahead of time if that is important to you during COVID, but they were pretty careful with our belongings and happy to put things wherever we asked. read more

Justin and Aidan did a great job for us. They were challenged from the start because they were sent in a truck that was too small. We had a couple of challenging pieces of furniture and one HEAVY fountain that they moved without complaint. They put everything where we wanted it and worked with us to overcome a few furniture location challenges. They arrived on time and communicated well with us throughout the day. We are still a bit concerned about Aidan, as he simultaneously hit his head and face while moving a dresser. Hope he's ok. Hard-working crew, but wore face masks for only the first 30 minutes. Inept management quoted us 7 hours at $110/hour and one truck, but the final bill was $1300. The crew boss said he needed a second truck, but the cost would be "about the same", then hit us at the end with an 80% mark-up. When I spoke to the office to complain, Bob offered a discount, said "I will go to bat for you, and call back tomorrow", but never did. I do not trust this company. If you have a medium- or large-sized house, instead get a company with a semi because Colt only has 26' trucks. In our own experience, 14 months apart, the movers with the semi were about $200 lower in cost, with no delays and no surprises. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. If I could give 0 stars I would. I am surprised at all these positive reviews. The first misstep was the original quoted time of 4-6 hours for my move out of my home...it took close to 15 hours because only 2 men showed up to move my furniture and belongings. Not only did I give one of the men a TV and some other items from the home that we planned on donating to goodwill, I was hounded and guilted into tipping the two men. Second mistake. My move was 3 times as expensive as it should of been and the result of sending inadequate crew proved that but it's my fault and I should tip? Fast forward to a different crew (much better) that unpacked the moving truck at my new home...several priceless antique furniture items were damaged beyond repair. The 4 young men felt awful and proceeded to call their boss and take pictures on my behalf to explain it would be an expensive damage claim. The move (plus storage fees) cost in excess of $4000 and Colt Moving offered $120 for my damaged items. I have an antique marble topped telephone table valued at $5000+ that had two legs completely snapped in half by the original crew's "packing job." Then a mirrored topped dresser that had a huge crack and chip upon arrival. Another end table chipped from my living room. Two came back antique cream chairs that had huge holes completely poked through the caning. Ruined. But the company wants to give me $120 which doesn't even cover the cost of me tipping one of their guys. If you compare this to my moves in Chicago which were 1/4 of the price with hardworking, experienced crews and much more narrow spaces with stairs and NO DAMAGE at all (even with an 8ft antique glass mirror that was 75 lbs)...it's easy to see this company fell far short of my expectations and did not deliver the service promised. read more

We've used this company in the past I got one quote from Jordan for this current move. They called the day before our scheduled currently and said that they had a covid outbreak with the crew that was supposed to come out but they would need to reschedule us for later on in the day would offer at least 5% discount I told Jordan that would be fine and I would call back to go charges as I was not in a position to review what he had quoted me I ended up calling back the next day and spoke with Bob I was taken back of how rude and unprofessional he was he was literally screaming in my ear and yelling and talking over me and did not want to discuss and give me a straightforward answer on what the charges were after I clearly explain what Jordan had quoted me I just was trying to figure out what the Miss communication was about the charges you need to say he's not Jordan in this is what it is then have the nerve to text me what the policy stated I didn't need to know what the policy was I needed to understand why the Chargers difference so much from what Jordan had. Quoted me even with the additional 5% off for a total of 10 I ended up canceling the Day of Service I refuse to give them my money especially to move my belongings I'm with someone else last minute I would have ended up moving the stuff myself instead of giving them money how unprofessional I can't understand how they can keep some around that will talk to their clientele like that that business we're travels fast and I definitely would not recommend them to anyone and wouldn't tell anyone not to use them you're already stressed enough when you're moving you don't need any additional stress or a company that you're going to pay that very day I canceled calling different moving companies to find someone else to move us which we did and it ended up great what a position to be in because of a big mouth that's bad business word travels fast please correct this issue definitely does not look good read more

Don't ever deal with Phil. He will argue a point like a ten year old child. The movers, who were super nice guys, failed to put my bed together. Of course, according to Phil, it was all my fault for not asking them to do so. The first time I called about this issue, I talked to a nice guy with a name that started with a J (Joshua, Jeremy?) He said they would take care of it and would get back to me the next day. When I didn't hear from him, I called again and got the lovely Phil. He was argumentative and contradictive throughout the entire conversation i.e. "we can't put it together because of liability." However, in the same breath, he said "if you had asked them they would have gladly put it together." Huh? First of all, when do you have to ask movers to put a bed together? Second, moving can be chaotic and I didn't realize it wasn't done until right after they left. Phil is not good with the public and, therefore, should not work in that capacity. Long but extremely important if you are considering using Colt. Moving across states and got 3quotes. JORDAN the owner came anddid a thorough estimate. He was cheaper. I sold many lg items that were included in the quote, and Jason had been thereso i was confident that all is good.truck pulls up, I think its toosmall. But hey, what do I know? A pro, determined that that was the right fit. JORDAN came to the site and movers said they didn't think it would allfit.He said there was"plenty of room on the truck, no problem". movers called Jordan 3 times to say it was unlikely that allwould fit. ask me to figure out what I could leave. They had to lay things onfront yard.He threw his movers under the bus, saying that they should never have called him, they jumped the gun by stating that it would not fit and getting me worried. " it's all good, no problem, plenty of room"... you know the type! A slick salesman atbest. The guys unhooked the washer. room was empty,all of a sudden, water startsgushing from the spicket. both hot and cold lines were dumping out into my house. The water flooded my first floor in a matter of seconds! Guys used their thick, moving blankets. 2 hours cleaning up the mess. back to load,all of a sudden, a torrential rain storm broke out. The rain pounding down horizontally! Right into the opentruck doorand on items on my front lawn. Boxes were soaked, they tried to pick them up, the bottom just fall out, stuff everywhere.truck isstuffed now, the door didn't close.I suggested thatJ get another truck, compensate me for items left behind, or even put things on the next truck that was going to my area. He never gave me any solutions about fixingthis nightmare. just kept saying I signed a contract there were no guarantees!!! very angry, raising his voice, and being quite impertinent. I asked if he heard about the"flood", and he assured me that the 2+ hours spent cleaning up the mess would not be "on the clock". I had him on speaker every time he talked and workers heard all that he said. they were doing their best under impossible circumstances. J put them in abad position they agreed the truck was too small from the start. J tellsme that all is on the truck,ready to go. I am right there, looking at the truck, and at a garage still full of things. hugh red flag,now I know he is lying.the guys said that all things left behind was not normal, "he totally misquoted you". a short list of items still left:Patio table, umbrella, 8 chairs, brand new bike and gas grill, lawn mower,power lawn equip, thousands of $ worth of tools, Dyson vacuum, carpet cleaner, boxes of yard tools, MY 50" flat screen tv, wagon, power tools, bookcases and more! nearly 1/3 oftotalpossessions! they showed me the bill, but it was for the total time. J NEGLECTED TO INFORM THEM TO DEDUCT THE 2+ HOURS.i said I'll just pay the total amount and let them go, cuz we all were beat by then. I would deal with the discount with J cuz by this time, we were going to have A LOT to discuss.realtor came by cuz buyers were due to move in within the hour, and This was getting into legal issues. She called him and got the same response, i signed a contract, nothing is guaranteed, too bad, so sad.could hear him yelling, w/o being on speaker! he pointed fingers at everybody else, even saying the transport ownerwouldn't let him use 2 trucks, that I insisted on only using one trucketc. All lies! Why would anyone say that? I want all my itemsmoved, however many trucks it takes. Other quotes were more cuzThey knew it would take a bigger truck. I get there could be a slight variance, but not 1/3 off my stuff.get the picture here, Slick owner givesquote, says that he will beat any price then blames all but himself for the mess he created. Who throws his own people under the bus like that? Forthe unload only 4 items were wrapped in blankets. Nearly every item that was not wrapped was heavily damaged.I gotthe extra insurance pkg for full replacement value and texted J that there was multiply damages.you would think that he knew that he was in serious trouble, and would be cooperative, but he had the audacity to actually fight me on this issue as well. Saidthat he was not responsible, it happened during transport, and THAT ALL THE ITEMS WERE WRAPPED PROPERLY. He wasn't there!I watched everything come off the truck. The 3 guys said the things that were damaged were the things that were not wrapped. J was the only one not there to see it, yet insistented it was packed properly. 7 actual witnesses were wrong, and the guy who wasn't there was right?now Imstrongly awarethat I'm dealing with a compulsive liar. I ask for the discount he promisedso I tell him I need my discount for the flood. Response: crickets. Nada. Nothing! Hesaid to stop texts to him, we were done!
