I experienced the most unprofessional and irresponsible moving experience recently all thanks to the management of Colt Movers. I was reminded three times when the truck and personnel would be at my storage unit. I was there on time. They were not. I received an email timed 15 minutes before the move was to begin telling me my move had been rescheduled to later that day. I called the office and relayed how disappointed I was at this late notice. I was told there would a new crew coming in at 12;00 and they would move my things starting at 1;00PM. The 2 young men who arrived at 2:45 had come after finishing another job. They arrived at my house around 5:30 and informed me that they couldn't work past 11:00PM and if there were furniture left on the truck over night there would be a charge. I wondered how that applied to me? I helped the two young men carry my household goods from the truck into my new home. The young men were courteous and respectful. They were put in a crappy situation by the management. By 7:30 or 8, I was given a bill which included a $6 an hour discount. That's a discount??????. The guys that moved us worked very hard and long to get us moved from two storage units into our house. But, they needed to have 4-6 movers there from the beginning. It took 12 hours for them to get our items moved into our house. Our email confirmation said 4-6 people with two trucks. We were very disappointed with the quality and service of the move from this company. My husband who is a retired disabled veteran and has experienced many moves over his 20 years with movers said this was by far the worst experience he has ever had. He asked for three movers and they only sent two with one of them who immediately stated he tweaked his back the day before and wouldn't be able to do a whole lot. He spent 30-40 percent of the time on the phone trying to find a replacement and the replacement did not show until 8 hours later. Meaning my husband had to help load and unload the entire day leaving him unable to do anything the next day. The point in hiring and paying for movers is so that you don't have to do it yourself, however, with this company that was not the case unless we wanted to them to work for 15 hours (they charge by the hour) to only unload storage sheds that were right next to one another 5 minutes from our new home into the house. Even so, it still took them 9 hours to load and unload those storage sheds, and they did not even get to our last storage facility. We were offered no discount, no apology and had to pay full price. We will not recommend or ever use this company again. One bright spot was one mover Alejandro, who did his best despite having to pretty much work alone despite our help. read more

We booked this company because they were literally right next to our condo. When I originally booked them it was for a total move but I decided to pack everything and I moved all the boxes and small stuff myself in a Uhaul. So when it came time to move they only had to move my furniture and heavy items. We had a king bed, not heavy at all. A full size bed again not heavy. We had a small kitchen table again not heavy. We had two sofas not very heavy. Washer and dryer Definitely heaviest thing we had. Two light weight desks. A coffee table and two end tables and a very small freezer not heavy at all. We were moving from Westfield to Noblesville area. I contacted them about 4 days prior and requested a 3rd guy who could do the lighter stuff and take down and assemble our bed. The bed came from Wayfair and I put it together myself rather quickly and I'm not very handy. So they had the one guy work on the bed for over an hour before he declared he wasn't very handy and the other guy replaced him. They had a new guy with them who had only been there for three days he said and he worked the hardest of all three. So pretty much the two guys worked at a good pace while the third pretty much did as little as possible. When they got to my place they were to put my bed back together. That night we went to lay on the bed and it collapsed and broke many of the pieces it was then we discovered they only put less than half the bolts and screws back in the bed. When I booked them I asked if they took care of my washer and dryer and they said absolutely but when the guys got there they said they aren't allowed to do any of the disconnection or reconnection. SMH! Pretty sure all this is basic moving 101! It took them forever to get to our new place which was frustrating. We did move to a two story but the only things they brought upstairs were the two beds and two desks and our washer and dryer. They tried to charge me $100 for our washer and dryer and when I read the contract and it said large appliances like refrigerators were extra I called and they told me there was no extra charge for moving the washer and dryer because if there had been we would have booked someone else. So the guy couldn't reach anyone at the office so he took off the extra $100. Even with removing that extra charge they still charged us $1160 and we tipped the 3 men $53 each. read more

I wouldn't use them again. They do not insure you for the value of your furniture, only 60 cents a pound. Find someone who insures your items for their value. If you don't get the write guys, it will be bad. We had them pack and store our furniture. When they started unloading, the mover ask who packed our furniture. When we told him, he gave us a horrible look. Within minutes he found damaged furniture. Our damaged items with a value over $2,000 were "settled" for $120. (200 lbs at 60cents a pound). They are cheap and you get what you pay for. Be careful when signing the contract. That's where the 60 cents a pound for damages is. Our next move will be with someone with real insurance. read more

Honestly, Demontai, Alex, Malcom, and Tyron were so prompt, quick and had such great attitudes it made the whole process so much less stressful. Moving is hard and my husband is NOT great at letting someone else take the reigns but when the guys got to work I watched him slowly get less tense, start to breathe normally, and relax as soon as he realized how much we could trust them. I only have one complaint, I'm certain that I put into not bring the truck, as I only needed them to unload the container that was already there. so I got billed for the truck mileage. Colt Moving exceeded my expectations in every way. I was nervous about the move, but Robert P. reassured me that he would take care of me and that everything would be fine. My new place is located up four flights of stairs. Despite this on the hottest day of the year, Jamal E., Robert P., and Derek D. were positive and upbeat the entire time (even while carrying a commercial-grade treadmill). They meticulously wrapped my furniture and electronics, and none of my belongings were damaged during the move. Me and my wife reached out to Colt to assist in our long distance move. We were told there would be 4-5 movers to assist with moving our over 3500 sq ft home. We let them know what we had to move and the amount of things. I was a little hesitant because this was the first time I've ever had a moving company tell me they don't need to do a walkthrough prior to coming out. We went to the main office to buy boxes to help lower the cost and prep/pack some things before the movers came. We ended up packing some rooms, dismounted all tv's off the wall and packed in boxes, took apart tables and beds as well. The movers were scheduled to come at 1 pm the next day. We received a call at 9 the next day letting us know the movers were on the way. This was unexpected as we were told 1 and had some packing left to do ourselves. We told the person on the phone we were expecting 1 and asked if they could come at that time instead. They acknowledged and said they would be back out around 1 without any issues. When they showed up there were only two movers with no supplies to move us. They were told that everything would be packed and be loaded into pods. The two guys walked through the house, saw what we packed and what needed to be completed. At that time there was a closet with clothes, master bed, kitchen, basement, pantry and garage left to pack. When they called their supervisor William everyone was confused and we were told they would be back the next day at 1pm. The very next day no one showed up at 1. When we called the supervisor William he said he doesn't know why we were told 1 when they couldn't guarantee the time. We requested to speak with the owner Jordan who apologized and said he will get them out as soon as possible. They didn't arrive until 5:30 pm. At that time they showed up with used boxes, small boxes, no boxes for TV's or clothes, and no boxes for dishes. The ran out of supplies and only had the small boxes shown in the picture left to pack clothes, kitchenware and remaining items. Somehow the drivers said they were given a truck loaded without the proper supplies. They also had no tools to take apart any furniture besides an Allen wrench. We contacted the owner who was disrespectful to my wife and didn't want to offer any solutions to our problem beside saying it's not all their fault. When I spoke to him he threatened to call the police if we didn't pay the amount for their service. He offered a discount of 10% and no fees for packaging although his movers came without packaging and we had to buy extra boxes ourselves. He didn't want to refund us for those either. This has been the worst experience with moving the actual movers who came were great but the miscommunication and unwillingness to care from the management and owner was terrible. The lack of communication between management and employees was terrible, the movers who helped us were Bill and Kyle they both were great but we're not set up with the proper materials to make this move a success. We were stuck without having our house packed and charged for 5 hours of loading. The came out to over 1,000 even with the discount to have a house half packed and left unfinished. We were offered to have them come back but when I asked the owner how can I have trust the same thing won't happen he responded without caring and only wanting to get paid for the time they were here. I would never recommend this company to anyone ever, by far the worst experience from management and above. read more

I had used Colt Moving in August of 2021 and was happy with both the move and the price I paid; I felt the 3 movers and one truck I'd hired for an estimated total move time of 3-4 hours sounded reasonable at $950. I had minor damage to one item, but everything was wrapped and packed very well, and movers were quite careful. In August 2022 when I moved again, I of course called Colt Moving. I am one person, and was moving from a one bedroom unit, 3 miles away. The total cost was higher by about $175 - but since gas prices were so high at the time, and they had to drive from Westfield to Broad Ripple, I was willing to pay it. I asked if they had any other locations (as I had seemed to remember from the previous year) and they said no. So my only option was to pay the higher travel fee. When the 3 movers and one truck arrived this time, the driver looked around at all my furniture and decided he would need another truck and 2 more movers! I had itemized in great detail in advance, every item of furniture I own, and number and sizes of boxes, etc. in order to obtain the quote they gave me. prior to moving day. Nothing had changed since then - and also I had FEWER pieces of furniture and boxes as I had during the previous year's move. So, less stuff yet more trucks and more people suddenly required to move it, than when THEY had moved it with 3 people and 1 truck, a year prior (does not add up). When I balked at his suggestion to add more trucks and people in order to get it completed in 3-4 hours as was quoted to me, the driver then said "well, if we can't have the manpower needed to do the job - then it will likely take twice as long to complete" - pushing it from 3-4 hours, to a full 8 hour day! Obviously, both those options he was trying to force me into were going to double my cost, as originally quoted. Not to mention that there was LESS furniture to move this year, and that they had completed it all with 3 men, 1 truck and in 3.5 hours, previously. When I refused to authorize any of that, he said maybe you should reschedule your move then. I felt very clearly that he was trying to take advantage of me, and was insulted. So instead - I insisted that we hold to the original quote, only - and to make it happen in the exact same 3-4 hours quoted to me. I explained how they had moved it all 1 year before in the same time frame, no problem - and how the same was of course possible this time. He did not like that answer and stared at me in disbelief, but agreed finally to give it a go. Great! So they start wrapping things up to take out to the truck, and the driver instructs them to just carry stuff out and told me they would wrap it in the truck later (to save time, he said). They then broke a light fixture when moving items to the truck, and when I asked what had broken, when I heard the crash - the driver told me "not to worry about it". Then once the truck was packed (1 hour later) he wanted to go to lunch, and then meet me at my new place after their lunch. They had arrive at a little past 9am, and it was not quite 11am yet... An hour of work, and then lunch?? I again refused - said that when they had moved me 1 year before, they arrived at 9am and moved me, unloaded and unwrapped everything, and then were finished by lunch time - at 12:30pm. I suggested we do the same. Once we later arrived at my new place - I saw in the back of the truck they HAD NOT wrapped any of my furniture (as I was paying them to do). I have mostly vintage and antique furniture, most of it wood. EVERY SINGLE large wooden piece of furniture I own was damaged during this move - including my great grandmother's secretary desk, which I had explained was my most valuable possession, and had to be treated with extra special care, above all other pieces. They BROKE OFF a wooden finial on the top of the secretary desk, in addition to dozens of gouges and scratches in the wood finish - none of which can be repaired, nor replaced. They also dropped several items, and gouged the walls and floors and doors, at my new place. When I was on the point of tears from the damage they had inflicted to my great grandmother's secretary desk, not only did Jacob not apologize - he suggested it didn't matter because my stuff was old! Not only is this response completely inadequate and unprofessional - it adds insult to the injury they had inflicted. On purpose. My final bill matched the original quote, only because I insisted on the movers sticking to it. But that was at the price of the damage to all my furniture, which seems to be the cost I paid for Jacob being miffed that I wouldn't let him completely change the cost/quote and the time we had agreed upon in advance. When I later called to complain about all this to their office, the response was completely inadequate and also unprofessional. They also didn't apologize for their employee's behavior, nor the damage to all my furniture. Nothing was ever repaired or replaced, and no one cared!! read more

Hired Colt Movers from Greenwood, IN. EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE!!! Was easy to schedule for the exact time I needed. The 2 young men called first & showed up when scheduled. I moved recently and found the employees nice, but I caution anyone who uses Colt in the future. I was the last move of the day and the truck was basically empty, but it took the movers an additional 2 hours to complete. Seems they slowed down at the end of the move or maybe its because I stopped helping with the move. The other thing is that they do not count your boxes or take responsibility for anything that was lost. They staged everything outside on the sidewalk in the city. It was dark by the time they moved me. No one was watching as they were going back and forth. I lost a box and Colt denied any responsibility. I would recommend that you take an accounting of your boxes before and after the move. I was very disappointed in management's response. I even suggested, let's share in the loss, but putting the customer first is not a virtue of Colt Movers. My advice to future customers: * Schedule your move first thing in the morning; * Have friends and family help you to watch the movers; and * Video or take pictures of your boxes and possessions on the move in and move out. I think Colt expects people only to move once every so often, and they do not plan for repeat customer, but that is bad business. They should rethink their business model. read more

Setting up our move was good. Both the packing and moving office personnel were easy to work with. The estimate was sizably off. Each took longer than predicted. The truck was new to the company (but not a new truck). Once the truck was ready to unload the back doors would not open. This made the two workers unload from the side doors. The order of unload was not what was planned. One end table was severely damaged. Nothing was offered to repair it. And much to our dismay everything was coated in dirty dust. The pads were absolutely filthy. The workers were kind and friendly. The loading was quite unorganized compared to another moving company we had used a year ago. Overall, just average. read more
