My husband had the beef tips and the largest sweet potato and had hardly anything to say the entire meal. He was all about the food. The Colton's in Sedona was excellent. Service was spot on. The Colton's closer to Warrensburg off the highway, the service not as good. You need to ask for all your perks (bread), whereas Sedona was spot on. I would definitely recommend the Colton's in Sedona. read more

Joined virtual waitlist which was easy to use. Was seated right away. It was a Saturday night and we were seated next to an enormous table, which was ok, loud but manageable. Server was friendly, took our drink and appetizer order which was promptly delivered. We had onion straw things which were nice, but chicken nacho's were very disappointing, served lukewarm, sparse toppings, clumpy cold chicken. Didn't look appealing and tasted blah. Hawaiian ribeye was a winner, very juicy & flavorsome, sides of Mac & cheese and fries were good. I had the regular rib eye, mine was served with onions & mushrooms, well apparently it was, some miserable scratchings almost unrecognizable were sitting on my steak. I try to skip chain restaurants when doing reviews but I've been working in this general region a while and this restaurant seems to have a lot of locations. I figured they have to be good if the people want so many of them. I didn't bother checking Yelp before hand, mainly because the parking lot seems packed almost every night. I guess I had figured that wrong. Now I'm thinking that people just want a steak dinner and are not real concerned about what they are eating. Convenience seems to be the main idea here. Let's give the people a steak place, but let's spend more on how flashy and gimmicky the building is. That gets them in the door, but then feed them mediocre food. The western atmosphere and decor certainly pairs well with this type of food. Even their choices of items on the menu are fairly good. But that's about where it all ends for me. From the moment we walked in the door, until the moment we walked out, the staff we encountered seemed less than interested to be there. Most were just helpful and polite enough to do their job. Like I said, the food options were pretty good, but flavor was blah. Not necessarily bad. I was just hoping for some good seasoned meat and sides. Everything tasted more like cafeteria food. Well, I'd seen the recent reviews and was very hesitant, but since it was attached to my hotel's parking lot, I went for it. The servers were friendly and on top of things. My Caesar salad was absolutely drenched in dressing. My NY Strip was one of the fattiest toughest cuts I've ever had. It was cooked properly, but it was riddled with grisly fat. Takeout Review: Colton's has a convenient location next to the hotel that I stay at frequently while with my husband on his military stays. Unfortunately, that is really one of the best attributes to the restaurant. I have ordered takeout many times from Colton's. Every time the staff is short and unfriendly. I always order the Caesar salad because the dressing is really good. I love potato soup so, I convince myself to order it a lot even though every time it has it has lacked in flavor. The toppings make up for this most of the time. This time around I order the salmon spread, which was surprisingly fantastic! Unfortunately, the pita chips that came with were slightly rubbery and greasy. I ended up putting the spread on the rolls which are always amazing. I'm not sure how dining compares to take out as we have never tried. Due to the proximity to the hotel I'm sure I will order from them again and stick to the couple items I know are good. I gave a one because I can't give a zero. That was the worst dinner we ever had!!! The steak had so much fat on it. When the lady came around and was wiping off the tables she was wiping all the crumbs on the floor. We won't be back!!! I know steaks have fat on them but for the price we paid it should have been a better cut. So sad!!! I just hope people read this before going. When they brought the steak out they asked if it was cooked correctly. You couldn't even cut the steak with the steak knife. That is bad!!!! Save your money and don't go. SADDLE SORE! This place is the absolute best place in Sedalia, if you are into neglect and poorly managed seating. I dearly love being put on a waiting list at 1:20 after the lunch crowd has cleared out and empty tables and booths are abound, although a few did need cleaned (in their defense), but that's ok. We take our pager and have a seat to wait out our prescribed 15 minute delay. While our party of two is sitting on the uneven bench in the corner next to the covid-covered saddle, another party of enters and declare their party to have the exact same number as ours - two. This party obviously seemed more alluring than my party, as they were greeted with a warm welcome and a "right this way." We would have gladly given this couple our work bench stand-by seats to them or they could have even piggy backed the saddle if they liked, but it clearly was not needed for them. We watched in amazement this transpire right in front of us and soon as the hostess returned, another party, this time with four entered and they too were seated immediately, and amazingly right behind them, another party came in and menus were drawn and the first party of four were kindly escorted to their table too. Another staff member greeted the third party, at which time my party, tired of the step-child neglect, decided to we'd be better served elsewhere. As we were getting in our car, a staff member came rushing out to apologize for neglecting us and tried to make excuses for why the other three parties were seated before us. Been going to this Colton's for over 10 years and my experience on 3/31 was the worst. My caesar salad was wilted, off colored and had very little flavor. I hardly ate any, server didn't notice or think to ask why. Ordered Ribeye medium rare but it came out rare, it was difficult to even cut it. Had dinner here on New Year's Eve. Likely would have been a much better review if we had had a different server. We thought it may be rough for her from the moment we ordered drinks, which seemed to begin the confusion- 1 sweet tea, 1 unsweetened tea, 1 peach tea...not too terribly difficult. She finally came back with them and wasn't sure who got what or if she had gotten them right. Refills later seemed to take forever. Not sure why. My husband asked for 57 sauce, which he did get 10 minutes later. I asked for A-1, which I never got. Waitress stated they only had 1 bottle and wasn't sure where it was??? Ummm, 1 bottle of A-1 at a steak house??? Daughter ordered sweet potato fries. She got coleslaw. To be fair, we didn't tell the waitress about it due to already poor service. My 12 oz. ribeye wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. It started to get cold waiting for A-1. Quite a bit of fat on it. I expect some of course, but there was quite a bit. Not much flavor to it either...thus the request for A-1. My husband said his sirloin tips were ok, but no better than he could have made in a skillet. My husband literally stood at the table waiting for our credit card to come back so we could go home...it took that long to pay. Overall, very disappointing. I much prefer TX Roadhouse. Rolls, salads, and teas were good. We got the Queso dip which was good but we found several pieces of lettuce in with our chips which was interesting but we ate around that, no problem. The issues began when we got our entrees. My steak was cooked to medium rare beautifully but the cut of meat was stiffer than sirloins usually are; that being said I was not mad at the steak the issue was the loaded fries...the fries tasted freezer burnt...my husband agreed they tasted off. The second issue was my husband ordered a ribeye medium rare, when it came to the table it was rare and was sent back they just charred the outside...my husband cut into the blackened steak and was medium rare and wasn't upset till he put the first bite in his mouth...he said all he could taste was propane...he just left the steak on the table and we paid and left. We ordered soup, was told 30 minutes later they had no soup. We went at 7p.m, the restaurant wasn't busy. I've been wanting to try this place for months, but they are always too busy. We caught them at an odd hour on a weekday to finally give me a chance. We decided on burgers after being seated on "the porch" next to a back door that was open more than shut on a day that was about 12 degrees. We complained about being cold and were answered with "hmmm". Our burgers were cooked to the right temperature but had no seasoning or flavor at all. They were watery (maybe frozen???) and barely edible with even added salt, pepper and season salt. The fries were really good and the fried onions on my burger were quite tasty too. Service was not very attentive. They were around our table a lot but never stopped to ask if we needed/wanted anything until it was time to bring the check. I travel a lot for work and have had the unfortunate experience of eating here twice. Both times I have been highly disappointed. I ordered the 8oz filet wrapped in bacon. When it came it was as flat as a pancake and I couldn't even see any bacon. A filet is not supposed to be a 1/8" thick. Lastly looking at the menu I felt a dessert may make up for poor steak quality . Both times they were out of ice cream! How is this possible and both of my visits were several months apart.
