There are tables and plenty of seating to watch play (but play with them too!). There's a big open area for lawn games and also a splash pad with more seating and a pavilion you can rent for parties. All things enclosed and pets or bikes are not allowed. In addition to this there is a massive lawn to play things like soccer or other sports, great paved walking or biking paths and it even goes into the woods where you can play in the creek. There are plenty of great trails here, paved and dirt, and a hand-full of fun geocaches if you download the app. Very amazing park!

Buttermilk falls is full of several beautiful waterfalls throughout its 2 mile or so premise. However there is a located trail and path that takes you up to one much bigger that's known as Emmert falls. The falls is celery marked with signage so you can find easily. Very pretty and nice waterfall that's makes for a great photo op. They have a gazebo and some table for you to sit down at the bottom of the falls and enjoy it. You can also climb a side trail to the top and stand upon the top there. A few months ago I took my daughters and some friends and they all enjoyed climbing up to the top. Overall really cool and easy hike with a beautiful scenery and waterfall. Buttermilk falls overall is a cool place to check out but Emmett falls to me and my family was the main attraction at this park.

Some guy got loud & mouthy with me - yelling at me from a little distance about not having Iris on her leash, which was only for a fleeting moment. I thought about closing the distance and perhaps smashing in his face because, unfortunately, I used to have an extremely violent side, although only when pushed does the beast take over. Pine creek barrens is a nature conservatory or nature trail buried kind of deep into Shepherdsville…read moreKentucky about 3-4 miles off the cedar grove road exit in Shepherdsville. ***Major disclaimer I want everyone to know. Bring Tick repellent. We were with a group of 11 and no exaggeration we pulled well over a 100 ticks off us during and after the trail. We still are honestly. And I'm not sure why. The place is well kept and well paved. So you aren't trekking through high weeds or grass. Moving on, you pull into a smallish gravel parking lot and you can either go left or right. This is a 3 mile loop trail that takes you in a circle. Ten signs say it takes 2 hours approximately. However we walked slow and stopped store several pictures and tick check breaks and got it down in just under 90 minutes . It is full of pretty views of nature, flat lands, forest views, creek water, waterfalls and some really cool Rock formations. We enjoyed this walk. It really was very easy. Mainly flat and what Hills you come across were easy to climb. As mentioned it is Well paved and also well marked. I feel like there was a painted or marked tree every ten feet it seems. They also have a few benches for resting if needed. Ten whole path was pretty shaded and mainly dry. We came across a few different critters along our 3 mile walk. We seen a few snakes, interesting birds, bugs, a frog and a salamander. Evidently none of which eats ticks because if they did they would of been in food paradise Overall enjoyable and fun walk with pretty scenery. Kinda tough to find. I'd recommend following the winery signs and keeping your eyes peeled for the parking lot on the left. It been nicer if we aren't at risk of Lyme disease or rocky mountain spotted fever as there was a million ticks here that were waiting to feast it seems. It was an insane amount of ticks. I've never seen so many in my life. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back but it will not be in the spring. Maybe this will be a winter or cold weather trail for us.

There was a good amount of people but it didn't feel crowded. There first stop was a little gift shop with and information desk, snack bar, and bathrooms. From there the trail to the forest giants was super easy to follow. After walking to the giants, I drove the path to see the Tin Man and canopy walks. I love how accessible all the big attractions were and how beautiful the forests are. It's worth stopping in if you're visiting the area or a local!
