I love my dentist. I love Dr. Vi. This is her. You can barely recognize her but you know it's her because of her sweet voice. She is double masked, her hair is tied into a bouffant head cap, her face shielded by plastic, and her body suffocating in a gown and gloves. She is wearing all of this suffocating PPE, feeling exhausted from rebreathing her own hot breath all day, and her body heat can't escape anywhere other than the back of her neck. I am in healthcare and believe me when I tell you, she is wearing all this to protect YOU AND I, NOT HERSELF. She wears all this because she sees many patients a day and if she catches Covid, she can transmit it to all the other patients. So she wraps herself up in all this gear and she deals with it for US. I heard she also installed some sort of air purification system for the entire office and sprays the air with Hypochlorous Acid between patients. Not only is this extra cautious, but it's very expensive! In my line of work, I only double mask and wear an additional face shield when my patient can't wear a mask. I never understood people not liking going to the dentist until I tried this office. They left me in horrific pain for over a week and I still gave them another chance. I was rewarded with them wasting my time and being dishonest about their pricing. I have had bonding on my front teeth for decades and had a tiny chip at the bottom of my front tooth which happens frequently. It's usually a very quick visit to repair, but my previous dentist sold her practice. I decided to give Columbia Dental a try. It is closer to my house and most of their reviews were very good. They do not run on time so I was there for quite a while. As a new patient, they required a full set of panoramic x-rays. I finally did get my tooth repaired, it took a much longer time than ever before, but the work was good. After looking at my x-rays, Dr. Vi told me that I needed a root canal. I had no pain or issues with the tooth and it hadn't even been 6 months since my last dental visit but she said most x-rays don't show the area where the infection was and pointed out an area above my tooth root. Conveniently, they have an endodontist that comes to their office to do root canals. I met with him and he said it absolutely could not be anything other than an infection and even with the root canal, I had a 50 percent chance of losing my tooth so I scheduled the root canal even though I had a bad feeling in my gut about it. I decided to take a strong antibiotic for the week before the root canal even though I had no symptoms of an infection. I've had several root canals and they were all easy and painless. This was different. He was very rough using what felt like a power tool drilling and stated he almost missed a root, but I figured the equipment probably changed over the years. The pain was indescribable. I took leftover narcotic painkillers and was in agony for a week. I could not sleep, crying uncontrollably holding ice packs to my face. My nose was pouring and my sinuses hurt on the side of the root canal and I had post nasal drip. The office contacted me after I wrote a review and I spent the entire week going to the office every single day to have my bite adjusted but it just didn't help. Finally, I asked them if they would prescribe a steroid pack at the recommendation of a friend. They called in antibiotics and a steroid and after taking the steroid I was better in two hours. They said it was due to the severe infections (with no symptoms), but I think it was severe inflammation which is why the steroid worked so quickly. My nose continued to run for a week. Dr. Vi is very nice and so is Cindy in the office so I decided to give them another chance. I called and made an appointment after I chipped bonding on my other front tooth and to get a replacement top mouth guard to wear at night. I was told a set of top and bottom would be $400. I figured that price was fine even though I just use the top. The first available was 8 days later during my work day so I put in for time off work. My appointment was for 2:00. They again took pictures and x-rays of the tooth even though it's just a tiny chip at the bottom of the bonding. Then they bring in a bunch of different mouthguards to choose from and I tell them I just want the same simple mouthguard I've always used and pick out the one that I think is the closest to what my previous dentist gave me. Cindy tells me it will be $700, but I'll get a set of four. I ask if I can just get one mouth guard for my top teeth and Cindy tells me no. I decide to skip it. Now, it's been OVER 1 HOUR since my actual appointment time and Cindy comes back in and tells me that the dentist said my filling is going to take a very long time and she can do it at 4:00 (2 hours after my actual appointment), but it would be better if I just came back the next day. I used my sick time to take time off work and time out of my day to sit in their office and get nothing done to their bad time management and dishonesty about their pricing. I quietly told them it was unprofessional and left the office. An entire week of horrific pain, wasted time, and lied to about pricing. I now understand people who don't like the dentist. They have been to practices like this one. read more

I am very picky when it comes to finding a Dentist for myself & my family. After going to my old friend Dentist for the past 10 years, I was faced with finding a new Dentist because my previous friend Dentist moved to another state, moved closer to his wife's family. My Husband and I agonized and scrutinized who would be our next family Dentist because we have at least a dozen friends that were also Dentists in town. We finally chose Columbia Dental because we found out Dr Vi Nguyen was the owner and long time friend. We always loved her personality not to mention she has always been a sweetheart to us. Since our first visit, we have never been happier!! Dr Vi has THE BEST Doctor/ Patient manners! She has THE BEST interest at heart. Her staff is pretty awesome too (Thanks Taylor for all the jokes & making me feel at ease)! What prompted me to finally choose a Dentist, I had an on and off unbearable pain in mouth which caused headaches & hearing problems over a 2 week duration. I am pretty good at brushing my teeth every morning and night but it was not good enough. Paired with bad genes, I ended up needing a root canal. This was my very 1st root canal and I was very nervous and scared. However, the staff, Oral Surgeon, & Dr Vi made my experience amazing. Both the Oral Surgeon and Dr Vi took the time to explain my options. A few of my options was to preserve my tooth by getting a root canal, or getting a bridge (aggressive route as it involves shaving down the unaffected neighboring teeth), or to pull out the infected tooth. I know many patients would have just wanted to pull out the infected tooth but if you have a chance to save your tooth, even for another year or few years, do it (save your tooth). After my deep root cleaning, root canal, & curing my infected tooth, my world turned around. My toothache, headache, & hearing issues subsided finally. After taking my prescribed antibiotics & using the prescribed mouth rinse, my mouth, head, & hearing issues went away. It's been about 3 weeks now. It feels as if I never had a root canal!! Thank you so much Dr Vi & Team!! Lastly, my Husband had to get some cavities taken care of. He has been to Columbia Dental office twice now. Each time he has come home, he has raved how awesome his experiences have been. Thank you so much again Dr Vi & Team!! I was so pleased with this dental establishment until yesterday. I went and had a cleaning done to my teeth and they messed up. During my cleaning she shaved off some my tooth and it left a bigger gap in between my teeth. When I brought it to their attention they do like people always do deny and don't take responsibility and then try to blame the client for what happened. The lady was so worried about her practice that she forgot that one of her people messed up so she should be talking to her about her practice. To top it off the girl that came behind her to the polishing was so messy. It was evident that foot on the peddle and her hand on the tool was not coordinated. I cancelled future appointment and will not be patronizing this business anymore. She didn't even offer to fix it. It's a shame. read more

I left work early to make it to this appointment, I get there I see it's a nice clean reception area, and I get to the front desk and the receptionist tells me they don't accept my insurance. I let her know that the gentlemen that answered the phone didn't tell me they didn't accept my insurance and that I would be paying out of pocket. Which wasn't that big of a deal because I Do have a care credit, however what was a big deal is how the receptionist just blamed the guy that answered and said he doesn't know because he doesn't work the fronT desk......... not once did she even apologize for this missed information or sympathize. I could say she really cares about her patients. You want someone that takes her time and you don't feel like she is rushed to get someone else in . Great service but once treatment plan is put in place you have to do the whole treatment plan or else Dr. Vi will refuse to do what you can only afford. I needed a fill and because I wouldn't agree to purchase a night guard that my insurance did not cover she refused to do my fill. Please visit Summer Dental they were able to do my fill the same day without having to purchase a 400 dollar night guard. read more

When I walked into the dentist office, I first noticed how clean the reception area was. The front desk staff greeted me with a warm smile as I checked in. I filled out the appropriate paperwork (as a new patient) and it was straightforward. The dental assistant Taylor greeted me at the door and had a very welcoming smile. He helped me get situated in the dentist chair and made me feel at ease. He explained to me the process of getting the x-rays and took great care to ensure that I was comfortable during the procedure. I could tell that Taylor really loved his job. Dr Vi was wonderful! Never had a great experience with dentists and have severe anxiety when I'm in that seat but was upfront about it and nobody was uncaring or condescending.
