I love so many things about Healthy Smiles Dental ... I was really selective about who I chose for…read morea dentist as my previous dentist (different state) was AWESOME so the bar was a bit high. I had tried a couple of other dentists in Maryland and was not satisfied.I really wanted a practice that was up to date and ahead of the times in terms of their practice and procedures. I'm so glad I found this practice and highly recommend it without any reservations oncesoever. When I first visited, I saw Dr. Salmassi and she is amazing. In recent years, I've seen Dr. Janloo the most and he has outstanding 'chairside' manner ... he explains everything that will happen before, during, and after and is highly responsive to questions (and to anxiety! I'm one who gets anxious at the dentist!). He frequently stops to check with you and to make sure your are comfortable. I saw him today for my first ever root canal and it was absolutely painless and I truly was grateful for that as I was terrified going in ... I trusted him to work with me and he did a fabulous job. I also love the dental hygienist Lynne and look forward to seeing her every 6 months. She has a wonderful sense of humor and I love to ask her about her farm work! Natalie the nurse is awesome and a fabulous partner to Dr. Janloo at the chair. Christy at the front desk is responsive, empathetic, caring and professional. I can't say enough good things about this practice and the team of professionals who work here and I plan to see them for as long as they are continue practicing here! I really wanted to take a moment to acknowledge how grateful I am to have them and how much I appreciate their work. Thank you!

I am incredibly disappointed with the treatment I recently experienced at this practice. Every…read moresingle patient deserves to be treated with basic dignity, fairness, and respect. Unfortunately, my recent experience made it overwhelmingly clear that the quality of service and respect you receive here is determined by the color of your skin. A dental practice should be a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for everyone in the community. Discrimination and a lack of respect are completely unacceptable. We will absolutely be taking our business elsewhere to a practice that values all of its patients equitably.

I've never had any major challenges, always very straightforward visits with the occasional issues. I appreciated the office accommodating my availability. I completed my paperwork in advance, arrived early for my appt and checked in , only to have 4 people come in after me be seen first. I thought it was really odd that the front desk called my cell phone looking for me while I was in the small waiting room but wrote it off. I was finally taken back 25 mins after my appt time. I was told a full new set of x-rays was needed which made sense, but was then informed it was 28 different photos. This felt really high to me but didn't question it; aside from the x-rat exposure it was also quite painful to have to repeatedly bite down on the positioned for the photos. A few minutes in a piece of the equipment fell off the machine onto me; the hygienist reattached it without apologizing. Before the dentist came I was informed that I could purchase add-ons that insurance doesn't cover, like fluoride and numbing cream. The latter should have been my cue to get up and leave. I'd never heard of such a thing in taking myself and my children to the dentist for many years. I declined. The male dentist was personable but was very aggressive in his technique. I'd never seen / tasted so much blood during a routine cleaning, which he claimed was due to the long time in between cleanings and/or some weakening of gums from my medical condition. I've got a pretty high threshold for pain but it reached a point where I finally had to cry out for him to stop. He quickly started shouting out an extensive list of cavaties, stains, and other damage - including damage to all four wisdom teeth that could potentially be "monitored" instead of instantly removed. When the exam was over I was given an itemized list of fillings / treatments / follow ups and the estimated bill to match and asked to immediately sign it. Normally I'm used to concluding an appt with a bit more guidance, kindness, and even a new toothbrush. This was such a bizarre and painful experience and it felt like I was being pushed into work that I suspect I don't need. I won't be back and will go elsewhere for another look. I'm just thankful that I endured this and not one of my children. I deeply regret not having checked out other reviews before giving this practice a try.

My one son never had a cavity ( knock on wood) The dentist knew my other sons medications and he ended up having a lot of cavities she blamed me and sent us to a professional kids dentist which was fine because I wanted a second opinion. Fell out within the month and returned. Tech clamped onto crown with pliers and proceeded to drill out old glue, promising to "...use the strong glue this time". It did not sit well, so they clamped down on it again and drilled more, before finishing the install. 2.5 years later the porcelain chips off on the side, at the gumline base... clearly from stress fractures from the previous work. I return again for it, and make it clear that I want no work performed that is going to cost me out-of-pocket for this specific crown AGAIN! I stated this not once or twice but at least five times, because they were putting the bib on as if starting work. The dentist convinced me I would not be charged because the picture they are taking is for insurance Preapproval, assuring me they would be in touch as soon as they heard back from Insurance. four months later, still not hearing back about my tooth fix, I receive a bill in the mail for not only the picture they took but also an unknown missed appt. (no). So I called to escalate after the bill came. The phone person explain they still hadn't heard from Insurance, but would be in touch as soon as they did. To this day, another year+ later, i've still not heard a resolve to my broken crown. HOWEVER, I have heard from Equifax that this office had the audacity to send such a fraudulent/unauthorized $97 charge for collection. (considering the several thousands i've paid before leaving in previous work/appts they want to consider I would leave without paying 97 if it was due that appt AND tried to suggest that I not only didn't pay $97 but then I made another appointment before leaving....really???? Now I would rather pay a lawyer five times as much to address the real problem, before promoting this kind of unauthorized activity

I ended up coming after having a horrible experience with a Medicaid dentist in Laurel. I was in pain, had two extremely ill fitting molar crowns, a tooth that was in bad shape after a botched filling, and needed additional work. After practically begging my endodontist to refer me to a competent dentist, he gave me information for two colleagues near my home that he trusted. I prayed and after calling and speaking with Dr. Hamidi's wife who was the receptionist at that time, my mind was made up. God didn't disappoint! Although my insurance isn't accepted here, I utilized their savings plan (I'm literally chewing through my retirement savings lol) and here we are! It's well worth it considering the effect oral health has on the rest of the body. As someone with a chronic health condition, I make it a point to take care of my teeth and gums! So, after a thorough examination, he conservatively prioritized the most pressing issues and went from there. He was up for the challenge (the previous dentist said nobody would be willing to fix the crowns due to liability). Dr. Hamidi and his team are a Godsend, they even coordinated an emergency root canal for me on Thanksgiving Eve when everywhere was booked! Troy Hill Dental is clean and aesthetically pleasing. They use the advanced technology in their office with expertise. I'm confident in Dr. Hamidi's work. Plus, he's a fellow graduate of UMAB; they turn out nothing but the best medical professionals!

Not only did they do the tongue check for oral cancer but they also have this other tool that shines some sort of purple light in your mouth and if there's any lesions or signs of oral cancer, it makes it shine green. She not only checked inside my mouth but felt around my neck and jawline as well for lymph nodes, muscles, and bones. They performed my cleaning and did a routine X-ray. The doctor is very thorough. I've been wanting to get braces again to fix my underbite and I had also seen that they have services for TMJ pain, which I was told I had, so I brought that up during my visit. The doctor checked my mouth, and for the first time ever, said that I don't have TMJ, but that my bottom jaw just didn't grow when it was supposed to leaving me with both an underbite and jaw pain and popping that isn't from TMJ, but from a lower jaw that is just too small. She referred me to an oral surgeon and said that my teeth are actually pretty straight so braces wouldn't be a good option for me, but I would have to have an oral surgery done to fix the lower jaw if I wanted to fix the underbite. The office is brand new, very clean and up to date. They offered accommodations before my appointment like earplugs, dark sunglasses for the bright light, and something else that I can't remember. I really appreciate this and went with the dark sunglasses. They have two TVs for you to watch something while you're getting your teeth cleaned, one on the wall and one on the ceiling. I watched Brooklyn 99 during my cleaning. They also have a seating area and mini fridge stocked with drinks. I took home a seltzer. I love that my new dentist is literally on my street. It felt very European to walk out my front door and across the street to my dentist appointment. They accept insurance and I already booked my next appointment and referred two more people to their practice.
