This tavern is back entrance in the parking lot if you are from out of town! The Wachusett Beer Battered Haddock was good bottom little soggy. My buddy had the brisket sandwhich which was very good. The specials were good for the season and everything was reasonably priced. Bar service was good. Bartender today gave us good IPAs to try. Good place to go for good food and beer. read more

Came in for brunch today with my son. The place was very clean. The bartender and waitstaff were prompt and friendly. We ordered a peach lemonade and a Bloody Mary. The peach lemonade was delicious and the Bloody Mary was FANTASTIC! We ordered the chicken and waffles and eggs Irish for food. The eggs Irish was delicious and the hash was homemade. The spice on the home fries was on point. My son LOVED his chicken and waffles. We will most definitely be back! read more

4 adults, 4 entrées, 3 "adult beverages": We will only speak to the 2 entrées we had, not to the meals our company ate. Overall, the ambience good, the tables were well spaced, the environment was clean, and our server was attentive and friendly. The portions for the price were reasonable, but we both felt that our meals were lacking a bit of flavor. Being a gin enthusiast, I ordered the Raspberry Gin Ricky, which was made with Tanqueray. The gin/soda ratio was good. However, the raspberry purée couldn't really be tasted. Too much would've been too sweet, but there wasn't quite enough to tell it was there. I chose the Chicken Marsala entree. The chicken was cooked well, despite some dry spots in it, but I ended up requesting some crushed red pepper to enhance the bland sauce. I did find that the small amount of remaining sauce in the bottom of the dish was good. I'm not sure if this is because it then had time to sit and rest, or if I found it bland early on because it hadn't thickened enough to "stick" to the chicken, running right off it, settling in the dish. Jennie had ordered the Malibu Coconut, which she felt was watered down, with little hint of the Malibu. Her entree was the Columbia Chicken w/ linguini. She felt the meal, overall, was pretty good, but it could have used a bit more seasoning. We chose to rate Columbia Tavern 3/5 because the food was a bit more on the bland side and her drink was not quite what a Malibu Coconut generally is. Fantastic find! Staying at Wolf Lodge and realizing that we're facing a 20 minute wait along with a bunch of other chumps for $hitty buffet breakfast or kiosk DD, we ventured into Leominster and found this great place. They were friendly, fast, and accommodating. They made a brisket bene for me (for an up charge) that was on point. Bloody Mary with Tito's was delicious! Wife had the Eggs Florentine, and kids had pancakes, French toast, and the Columbia burger. All good! Definitely a must try in Leominster. read more

Four of us went for late Sunday lunch. There was no hostess on duty so we got to seat ourselves, it made me a little nervous wondering if service would suffer. IT DID NOT. Our server was attentive, quick and pleasant. We had the soft pretzels and spicy hummus to start. Both were very good. Main dishes were bacon cheeseburger (which was a little too well done) fish and chips, grilled cheese sandwich and lastly Cajun chicken. Everyone was satisfied with the meal, French fries were crispy and hot. The star meal was the Cajun chicken. It was the best she has had in a long time . I don't like giving bad reviews. However, I do not recommend the fish tacos. The corn tortilla shells were really chewy as if they were microwaved too long or stale and microwaved too long. The filling was really bland. My fellow diners enjoyed the poutine, clam chowder, and Rueben sandwich. We ordered chips, salsa, and guacamole as an appetizer. Very small portion of guacamole and bland chips-not tri-color like the menu stated. There are much better restaurants nearby. read more

Long time no review.. sorry for the wait lol This was my very first time at this restaurant and shortly I realized this was a hidden gem of Leominster! It was a beautiful night so my lady and I sat outside. If you're looking for privacy and seclusion while eating outdoors this is definitely the spot to be. We had two waitresses (one in training) who gave off amazing energy, they were very attentive & informative. The service was great! Now for the food portion Buffalo dip for starter and as you would imagine a perfect place to begin! Cheesy and a tad bit spicy nothing overwhelming but the flavors were definitely there. Finished the entire dish! For my meal I wanted to step out of my comfort zone so I went with a custom flatbread & wow was it delicious Butter Garlic, Pulled Pork, Bacon, Caramelized Onions, Mushrooms & Mozzarella the ONE! It was juicy, savory & the portions was definitely fill you up! My lady had a pulled pork sandwich and they did not skimp on the pulled pork. It was loaded, falling off the buns! Food was average.... fantastic, but certainly not bad. Service was average. It was nice to have outdoor seating. Seems like a standard place where you know what you are getting, but not particularly memorable in either direction. Just a little meh. Server was terrible and obviously didn't want to be there. Had to go get the waitress multiple times for drinks and to send food back as she was busy on her phone. Food took a long time.... 3 Burgers ordered Medium, 2 came out Well Done and 1 came out Raw . To fix the raw burger, the kitchen put it back on the grill and made a point to make it well done (hard burned char) and then served with the original fries now cold. Others at the table also received the potatoes which were cold inside. Lots of other places around to try before going here. read more

Came here for a late lunch on Sunday, and were they hopping. Server said it was even more so earlier. It has a divey kind of feel, and was quite loud, as in people were enjoying their beers and conversation with their companions. We were good with that. We had stuffed mushrooms and soft pretzels for apps - so so delish. I had the Hangover, which is basically a hamburger topped with an egg over easy in an English muffin, which I asked for on the side. Bread is not on my diet, but I could not stop eating the English muffin, it was grilled to perfection. The boys had pulled pork over hamburger thing and a pastrami. They did a swap of half and all went over well. The ladies room was very clean. Service was a little slow but pleasant, the place was hopping, and we were not in a rush. Great place for both dinner and nighttime entertainment. The food is always good and the menu rotates pretty regularly. Service is awesome. The only thing to be wary of, is it tends to get pretty loud and basically converts to a bar on the weekend nights, so go early if you want to dine in. read more

First time eating in this great establishment. Nice ambiance - fireplace glowing to take the chill off on this bright Spring day. Our server was pleasant and thorough and gave our table of seven just the right amount of attention. Our food was delivered within a reasonable amount of time and there were no complaints from anyone - clearly noticeable by the quiet while eating. It was a lite lunch for me, a tasty bowl of chili (some of the best I've eaten - side note: I'm a chili snob!) and a perfectly dressed Caesar salad. I found this place by searching "best burger" (in Leominster) on Yelp. I'm not sure what my expectations were, but I can't say I agree with the "best burger" assessment. We had a very nice waitress but my medium rare burger was delivered well done and while the hand cut onion rings *looked* delicious, they were soggy and cold. My meal obviously sat in the window for a good while. Our waitress did check on us but kind of just flitted by, asked "all good?" and walked away. I didn't feel like it was worth it to mention at the end of the meal (though there was a lot of untouched food on a couple of our plates). Would probably not return. read more

Several friends and I wanted to get together on a Friday night, so I reached out to several local places to see who could accommodate us (there were initially 16 of us), and The Columbia Tavern got back to me right away and said it was no problem at all. The wait staff was friendly and attentive (even with some last minute changes to our numbers & seating arrangements), the food was delicious (quite possibly the best fish n chips I've ever had around here), and we all had a great time! A friend recommended this place, I didn't even know it existed. We went for a late, late lunch, not sure what to expect or if we'd be welcome at that odd hour. Walking into the tavern I couldn't help but notice how beautiful it is. Very warm and welcoming. There is a large bar with seating, a couple of sofas, a handful of high tables, a couple regular tables over against a wall, a fireplace and large tvs on the wall. We chose a regular table, and our very friendly waiter came over immediately. We asked if they were still serving lunch, he said he could get anything we wanted from either the lunch or dinner menus. Great! There were a couple of families near us, and by the time we left the tables and bar seats were all full. Not bad for 3pm on a Saturday! I ordered their avocado blt and my husband got the turkey dinner special. He was very happy with his meal, said everything was delicious and the lunch portion was huge. My blt was perfection - thick perfectly cooked applewood bacon, deliciously ripe tomatoes, lettuce, avocado and a spicy mayo on grilled sourdough. It was constructed beautifully, whoever made that sandwich really knew what they were doing! It was huge and so good that my husband and I split one on a takeout order the next day. Yum-o! The service was friendly and efficient, we felt completely at home there and enjoyed the surroundings. I hope they do more advertising for their food service, it's very very good! read more

Took some effort, but we finally found the place - well worth it. The atmosphere is great, very welcoming and warm. The staff were friendly, no pressure, and attentive. The drinks were strong according to my husband. The food was good. I had the fried haddock; it was expertly cooked, crispy on the outside with the haddock flaky, moist, and tender inside. The side of broccoli was fresh, crisp, and lightly seasoned with some lemon. My husband had the steak tips with mashed potatoes. The tips were cooked perfectly, however the sauce was not very flavorful. The mashed potatoes were good, a nice texture combination of creamy and potato chunks. The broccoli that came with the tips was over cooked though. We had a good time and will be back! read more
