The eye exam was top notch, but purchasing glasses is a tough go. The selection of frames is not great. It was suggested to me that they would order a few frames for me to choose from, but somehow, the frames never got ordered. It took two phone calls and two weeks for me to learn this. Now I am looking at having going back three more time to actually get glasses. It will take more than a month more to get glasses. Not good customer service. read more

I have been a loyal patient of Dr. Smiley's and Dr. Dollenmayer's since the 1980s. With very good reason, I have returned year after year. The Doctors and staff are wonderful. My childrens' first eye exams were with Dr. Pat and even now in their mid 20s are continuing patients as well. You won't find a more caring and capable group to take the very best care of your eye sight. I will continue to recommend them and refer people to their office. read more

Columbus Eyecare was wonderful to me. They answered all my questions and always asked if I had any additional questions. My eye exam was easy and painless and the doctor and nurses quick but not pushy about getting to the next patient. Picking out my frames was also a breeze made better by one of the tech that talked to me the whole time and even put on the glasses I'd picked out to show how the differences. I had an excellent experience at Columbus Eyecare Associates after seeing Dr. Dollenmayer. He and his staff were friendly and personable. When I first arrived for a new patient appointment, I was greeted by the staff immediately. I turned in the new patient form available online and they did not require any other paperwork. That is how it is supposed to be! I had a very short wait until I was brought back from the nurse portion of the visit and another short wait before being seen by Dr. He was personable and explained all he was doing and everything that was going on with vision changes. I was even impressed when picking out frames for new glasses at how low pressure it was and did not feel like I was being upsold. Very professional and courteous staff. Of course it's important to have a good optometrist to assess your vision, but often overlooked in the process of getting glasses is the importance of fitting the glasses. Angles, shapes, width and length of both the lenses and frames in proportion to a person's facial and eye characteristics is equally important. Without proper fitting, the glasses will not function properly - I know this from experience. I am a new patient to this provider, and received comprehensive assessment and fitting from both Dr. Jill Danker and fitting specialist Dee. Both were very thorough and patient - especially Dee, who worked with me throughout most of the fall to find the frame I wanted, and took care to make sure the lens fitting was exact. I needed an eye exam and new glasses, so after randomly meeting one of the opticians at a dinner party, I made an appointment. Since moving to Columbus in 2005, I have gone to a few local places for eye exams, prescriptions, contact lenses, and new glasses but none of them wowed me enough to go back; this place did! Dr. Smiley was wonderful and took a lot of time answering questions and explaining that several medications I take can mess with vision. I am one of those people who just can't handle that air puff glaucoma test, and they happily did the test another way. I went ahead and brought the most recent glasses I got but have never really worn because after having the frames adjusted five different times, they still never fit. Come to find out, not only were the frames severely warped and the lenses installed poorly, the prescription was way too strong! I had planned on checking out new frames but was very hesitant to make a decision after being burned on my last pair. However, Sam the optician, was fantastic and I found a pair I loved in no time. She was very easy to work with, listened to what I liked and didn't like, and is obviously a pro at finding glasses to suit different faces. I brought my fiancé along to help me pick out frames and they insisted on cleaning and adjusting his glasses while he waited, even though they were not purchased there. They offered to order in frames in different colors for me to see and even mentioned that I could take a pair of frames home if I needed to think about it more. Fortunately, I easily found a pair I love and am now counting down to when I can pick them up next week. Overall, a fantastic experience! I already have a second pair of frames in mind for when my insurance starts over. One last thing worth noting: this place is a little hard to find at first. It is in a larger building with several office suites and there isn't much signage outside. When we first got to the address, I was worried my GPS had screwed up, but no, there just isn't a sign outside. read more

I came to see Dr. Smiley after my previous optometrist insisted on switching my contact lens brand due to worsening astigmatism, only offering brands that had never worked for me in the past due to dry eye. Dr. Smiley told me I still, in fact, had several options that could work with my prescription and be comfortable, and he and his team have been very thorough in their examination and questions about my symptoms/history. It turns out part of the problem was I'd been overprescribed by a half diopter or more in either eye. The doctor offered a new-to-me brand of lens I'd heard great things about, but my dry eyes have gotten worse. I feel like I'm becoming a regular, but Dr. Smiley has been very patient and friendly and is confident we'll get to the bottom of my issue. His team has made sure I'm not wasting money on boxes of contacts before everything is sorted out. I'm looking forward to that and will be back for my exam next year for sure. I very much appreciate the thoughtfulness and care of Dr. Smiley and his team; I've been wearing contacts for 18 years and would really like to continue! read more

Dr. Dollenmayer has been my family optometrist for almost 15 years. I am writing this review because I still call him my eye doctor after living in Chicago for over 12 years. As a professional photographer I simply do not trust my eye site to anyone else. I always make a special trip just to see him. I know that I can always all the office and Beth will take care of me. It is such a relief to know that I am in the hands of a sincere, honest and true professional. Five stars to Columbus Eye Care Associates!!!! They are truly a winning team! read more
