I had been watching the transformation of the old furniture store into Columbus Grill for a long time. I was excited to see it was open. I was a little less excited that I had to wait til the following week to get there though. It was worth the wait. They brought out fresh hot bread with some herbed butter. It was so good. I started off with a delicious creamy seafood soup. I decided to try one of their specials, a beef mestizo. It was very tasty, but could definitely used a little less salt. The biggest downside to the restaurant was the floor. Where I was seated, you could feel it when someone walked by. Maybe when there are more people or seated in another area, it won't be that bad. I definitely recommend this place, the food is delicious and so are the drinks! The bartenders are also very friendly and welcoming. I usually get the cheese and meat platter and the lobster bisque soup with Caesar salad. But I have had many of their entrees and they are also very good! read more

This restaurant specializes in Portuguese food. I went here for lunch on a Saturday with my wife (who is Portuguese) and our 3-year old daughter. Our first impression was that the restaurant is well designed, clean, and comfortable. The restaurant's decor celebrates Christopher Columbus and we found it artfully done. The huge built-in wine rack is something to behold! We ordered the rissois de camarro and the chorizo asado for appetizers. My wife found the rissois passable but not nearly as good as the ones her mom makes. Her mom is an outstanding cook, and that is a high bar to cross. I found the rissois tasty, but I didn't grow up with this stuff. We both thought the chorizo was outstanding. My wife had a salad and the caldo verde soup (made with potato, chorizo and kale), which she found rather bland. I had a salad with a side of asparagus and roasted red potatoes. It was all terrific. Our server was George and he was attentive and polite. The service was perfect. I have only a couple of minor gripes that should be easy to fix. (1) The Chinese-made crayons they gave my daughter didn't work. She couldn't draw with them and when I tried to see if I could make them work, I had to press so hard that I broke them. A small matter of course, but as any good restaurant owner knows, keeping kids busy is a good way to keep them well-behaved. I suggest a new brand of crayons if they are going to keep handing these out to kids. (2) Both toilets in the men's room had seats with loose hinges that were falling off the toilet, and one stall had run out of seat covers. I am especially sensitive to the loose toilet-seat issue after bringing an elderly relative out to eat several times. An elderly person could easily fall off the toilet and sustain a serious injury if the seat is not properly fastened. Those minor gripes aside, I found this to be a terrific restaurant and I look forward to eating there again. You always need to be leery of a restaurant with an empty parking lot. Nice decor. Food was just ok. It definitely was not worth the money. I think I would have been more satisfied to have gone to Roy Roger's and gotten a bacon cheese burger with all the fixins. read more

I had heard a lot of good things about Columbus Grill so I snapped up a Groupon when I saw one. Well, first of all, there was a very noisy wedding which could be heard across both dining areas.... Not a very good restaurant design although it looks like a banquet hall is one of their main business. My dish was horrible - I had the rack of lamb with a Rosemary glaze w/ green beans and potatoes. The entire dish was so salty I could not eat it. Waiter never came to check on us (the dish was not delivered by him) . My husband's steak had a lot of gristle - was not worth $25 (in Manassas)... Went here for dinner last night for the second time. Food was really good - atmosphere is nice but was nearly ruined by the homecoming crowd of high schoolers who were a bit loud. Thankfully there was another table available in a better spot. Filet mignon was amazing and crab cakes were good (need some kind of sauce though they are good plain). The ambiance here is great. The staff are all so friendly, and the owner does a lot of the serving and bartending. The food is amazing - high quality ingredients executed incredibly well at a pretty good price. Very authentic. You won't be disappointed here, their standards seem very high. They'll give you beer and wine samples to make sure you're paying for something you like. Also, one of the few restaurants that have authentic tapas. read more

The Shrimp santa maria was excellent, the seafood, veloute was excellent, the Columbus steak was very good, kind of wrecked the dish having regular french fries accompanying it. The Becalhau Assaudo (salted cod) was so salty you could not taste anything but the salt, it truely was inedible. It ruined the meal when one of the dishes is so bad it could be eaten by either of us. Asked the cheif about it and he commented it's supposed to be salty (wrong it should have a hint of salt not overbearing), I don't believe they soaked the cod long enough or didn't change the water during the soaking process read more

Went for the Sunday brunch and the food was delicious. Great variety of choices including every kind of breakfast food you could imagine as well as fruits, desserts and lunch items. Would definitely like to come back and try out for dinner some time. The groupon often available makes it an affordable dining experience. My one setback was the automatic 20% tip added to our bill for 2 guests self serve brunch - seemed a little high for a waiter who rarely checked in and refilled our waters / took our dishes once. read more

I went in to this place and was empty , hello hello hello ! finaly someone show up to see us, the good part is: You can pick any table cause is no one there, the music almost make me christian again , cause they play over and over Michael W Smith and others christin in between they playd Cristina aguillera,Lady Gaga, Madonna, etc... I was visiting and friends took me here. I'm glad they did. Friendly staff, fast service and delicious food. It was a Thursday night so, I was surprised to see the place so empty. Anyhow, the table was really nice and the owner even asked us if the temperature was nice, he then put the heat on higher for us. That was very nice of him. We started off with tapas, rissois the camarao and Shrimp Santa Clara, the rissois was my least favorite food of all night but, overall the tapas were good. Then we had a couple of Ribeyes, a crab cake sandwich, Mariscada, couple of salads, a Bitoque and the Filet Mignon were all perfectly cooked. Right amount of food and at the right temperature. Everyone was pleased with our choices. Red and white sangria were nothing special but, wasn't horrible either. Lemonade was tasty and they have free refills. Great atmosphere, great service and the decoration is also, nice. I would definitely go back. read more

Went for the Sunday Brunch buffet. Cost $15 per. Coffee was $1 additional Buffet was breakfast with made to order omelets - which the cook brought to me. It also included a lunch items - oyster, pork, chicken, paste, rice, cod... All tasted pretty good. The salads looked great but I didn't taste any. Same with the dessert and breads table. We went at 1200 (brunch is 1100-1400) and it was pretty empty. Servers and hostesses were pretty much standing around waiting for us to need something. When I paid with a large denomination bill, my server returned a bunch of 20s and 4 1s. If he'd have thought to break one of those 20s, he'd have gotten more than a $4.38 tip. Oh well - perhaps he'll read this... Getting into and out of the parking lot is a bit difficult when there's traffic. I came south on 28. Crossing over was difficult - no one would let me through. My suggestion is drive further south and do a U turn at a light. Getting out, even though turning right, was difficult too. To me - the food was worth the cost. I'll certainly consider going back if I'm in that area. read more

I've been to Columbus Grill a few times with my family and I really enjoy the food, the ambience and the people there. I've attended a few parties in the private banquet space as well. Everyone I have come in contact with are very friendly and knowledgeable. If you want to try Portuguese food, this place is a must go! I've tried many of their dishes and I haven't been disappointed. I will definitely go back! I just wish they had a location closer to DC. read more

I went here with my mother on a whim and it was really quite good. I had the hummus sandwich and a salad- the greens were fresh and plentiful and the dressing was tasty. My mother enjoyed her zucchini gratin and her salad as well. I have no idea why the place wasn't busy at lunch because the food was good! I came one Sunday morning for brunch and it was also very good! Our waiter was attentive with coffee refills and the selection was decent. I definitely will be back often! read more

My boyfriend and I dine here a few times a year, at least. The food has never been anything short of delicious. The ribeye is our favorite and everything is always fresh and beautifully presented. Aside from one or two times in the last couple of years where the server was a mess, we really love coming here. The owner is a really nice guy, always out on the floor checking on tables and stops by our table every time we're there. Columbus Grille is an underrated gem in Manassas as it is not located on the trendy Center Street. If you want a perfectly cooked meal, awesome ambiance, great wine selection and great staff give Columbus a try, I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised. After trying much of what Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax have to offer, Columbus Grille has become one of our favorite date nights of all. read more

This is the place I come to when I crave Portuguese food. Their fresh bread with butter is one of the best. The place is always clean and the waiters are always on top of their game. Came here for the first time with two aquaintances on 12/29/2019. One of the aquaintances became very drunk and was unable to drive home. I offered to take that individual to get something to eat and recoup until they could drive home. The bartender that evening, Sarahee, insisted in a very unprofessional manner that I should leave as if I was the issue at hand. The bartender stated that she was calling a ride for the individual which was fine but allowed for the other individuals to talk to me in a very disrespectful manner. I will not tolerate rude and disrespectful service as a visiting and paying patron. I do not condone this type of behavior especially when it comes to customer service overall. Why was the manager on duty not notified to handle or evaluate the situation at hand???? As a first time patron of this establishment I would like the owner or manager to contact me at their earliest convenience. Thank you for your time and assistance. read more

I hosted a surprise birthday party this past Saturday at the Columbus Grill and cannot rave enough about it! The service and food were spectacular, especially for the price which was very reasonable compared to other area restaurants who have private party facilities and menus. The Columbus Grill has a banquet room that is very nice and can seat 140 people. Ours was a small party, however, about 20 people, so they set us up in the area outside the banquet room in front of their beautiful wall-length wine rack. Though outside the banquet room it still made for a beautiful setting and an intimate feel. I ordered appetizers and entrees from their $45.00/person menu. Appetizers selected were the grilled shrimp, grilled sausage, sauteed pork cubes, bruschetta, mussels/clams in red sauce and the calamari. These were served family-style at each table and were very very tasty - especially the sausage and shrimp. Dinner was filet mignon w/wine and mushrooms, slow-roasted chicken, seafood w/white beans, pasta primavera, and roasted pork loin. Rice and tossed salad was also served. Everything was very delicious and not your typical buffet-style food. Everything was seasoned so well, served hot, and not dried out or overcooked as can happen with buffet-style food. I especially liked the filet mignon and seafood w/white beans and the guest of honor loved the chicken. The service was impeccable. I had an open-bar with waiter/waitress service and no guest had to suffer an empty glass. Note that whether for a party or dinner, you MUST try the Portugese 100 Marias red wine... simply wonderful! The waiter in charge of the party was very attentive and checked with me about the timing of service throughout the party. I would not hesitate to host another party at the Columbus Grill - whether large or small! I cannot wait to go back there for dinner and try foods off their regular menu. My husband and I had a coupon from restaurant.com and we had always wondered about this restaurant, so we thought we'd give it a try. We went early (6:30pm) on a Thursday. The bar area and patio were populated with happy hour patrons. We were seated in the main dining room, but it felt very cavernous and empty, so we asked to be moved to the patio. The server was gracious and accommodating. We started with the clams tapas which was good and garlicky and my husband ordered a soup called Caldo Verde which was a delicious potato soup with kale and Portuguese sausage. It tasted a bit like a miso soup for some reason and really hit the spot as it was a bit chilly out on the patio. For our entrees, I had the chicken picata which came with garlic potatoes (more garlic!) and beans and carrot veggie medley. It was very good, but it could have had a bit more sauce as the chicken was a tad dry. My husband got the Columbus steak which was served on a hot rock and cooked as he ate it. It also came with three different dipping sauces and shoestring potatoes. He said that it was very good, tender and juicy. We had tea, coffee flan for dessert. The flan was delicious and was a great ending to a decent meal. All in all a nice restaurant for the area which is heavily populated by chains. I will definitely go back again and enjoyed my meal. Didn't give it a higher rating than a three because where the food was good, it lacked that certain something that would make me give it 4 or 5 stars. read more

Nuno and his team from Columbus Grill catered my outdoor wedding on 6/1/13 and they exceeded all of my expectations. We had steak and lobster as our entree and a variety of hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Almost two weeks later and I'm still getting compliments from friends & family on how delicious the food was. Everything was made to absolute perfection! Not only was the food amazing, the servers/bartenders were friendly, engaging, quick to respond to requests and extremely professional. The servers were constantly checking on our guests and didn't leave anyone wanting for anything. The owner, Nuno, was very accommodating, we even paid him a surprise visit a few days before the wedding to ask some last minute questions that popped up. He helped us go through our list of rental items from our event rental company to make sure we didn't leave anything out and told us not to worry that he would take care of everything. How can this place exist in Manassas Park!?!? It should be in an upper scale neighborhood where it's culinary fare can be appreciated by a more sophisticated pallet. In a word, AMAZING!
