Tuesday was taco night We swung through a second time with a bigger crowd, played some pool, decompress and watch football. The service has become noticeably slower, with ridiculously long wait times for food--even when the place isn't packed. Came in this past Friday for a classic night at The Pub. Cold Beer, Yummy Food , and Good Times were on the menu. Some friends hit me up and told me they were hanging out that night at the pub and I wasted no time deciding if I wanted to go out that night. Jen was my server, And I honestly could not have asked for a better experience. She was quick and very attentive. It's like she knew when I needed something . Also I got the Pub Sampler as an app to split with the table and it was a HIT!! Normally when I get wings I typically get Bone In , but the sampler comes with boneless and they were probably my favorite thing on there, that or mozzarella half moons. My chiropractor is nearby, so we stopped in for a post-chiro visit. Hubby found friends and played Golden Tee while I ordered an early dinner. The bartender remembered my drink order from my (extremely infrequent) visits, and gave me extra limes. I ordered the filet tips with tequila-lime penne for dinner, which I've had before; it's usually quite good. This time, even though I asked for rare meat, the filet tips came out overdone. The bartender spotted my expression, asked what was wrong, and in a ten-second conversation said that she'd have the kitchen cook me up some new steak. Problem solved! In the meantime, I kept eating the tasty penne and DELICIOUS grilled red peppers. A few minutes later, my entire plate is whisked away and a brand-new dish is placed in front of me, with what I can see at a glance is beauiful rare beef. When I tried to explain that I was only expecting new meat, not an entirely new dish, the bartender smiled and said, "This one's nice and hot!", before leaving me to my brand-new plate of delicious food. Thanks for going above and beyond - it was very much appreciated, and the second plate of food as delicious (although now I'm going to need a box!) We'll be back! This was a locals type of place that welcomed in a few out of towners and shared their hospitality as well as their good food. Initially we were skeptical of whether we should stay but the Bartop was packed with locals and the food delivered. The place was recommended by Savannah at the Public House and so we thought let's try. The menu and specials looked okay and our server didn't oversell or try to convince us about anything - yet when we got the food, it was all good - the nachos were on point and the potatoes slices/skins were good - more of a slice than a skin boat but good and the buffalo burger from the special was good. Not to be confused with the Old Towne Spots Pub, where you might easily develop Acne while trying to have a drink. This is a nice Pub in the heart of Old Town Manassas which actually isn't very old at all. I've been in here twice - the first time I think was with my uncle a few years ago, although I can't be completely sure this is where we came - and the second time was to check in on some sports scores a month or two ago. It's very well located for the people of the town although traffic around here is pretty awful. Drinks are priced according to the area and there aren't enough of these places. In England they're on every corner. The food here is typical American Pub food which means it's not very good. Drinks are not bad though. And service is nice. read more

Seats are not comfortable enough to watch a football game from beginning to end, especially if you're sitting in one that rocks and shakes. We have always loved this pub. We used to live in town and would hang out here often. Since moving away over 4 years ago, we haven't been here much. But we were in the area and decided to stop by to catch the 12pm college football games. They're adhering to the distancing and mask requirements. It wasn't packed (but had a good sports crowd) so we got a table with no problem. The layout of their TVs makes watching sports easy from any table in the large bar area. There is a separate dining area that's more suited for families, and they have a separate closed off smoking area per Virginia law. They provide a limited, daily menu but if there's something you'd like that you know they've served before they will still accommodate your request. My husband has had their chili, cheese dogs in the past but didn't see those offered on the menu. But they happily offered to make them for him. The staff/bartenders are always super nice. There are always locals in there but everyone is so friendly and you feel like a local shortly after your arrival. We've been here before for NFL Sunday and it's always a good time. Everyone there seems to be a sports fan and into the games and the friendly back & forth over teams and scores is fun. They have pretty good food (not just bar food), a full bar, and plenty of beer options in bottles, cans and draft (pitchers offered). I came here on Friday night around 12:30 (the place closes at 2) and it was PACKED. The music was popping, the drinks were ice cold, the dance floor was practically a mosh pit. This wasn't a pub boys, this was a CLUB. Being the antisocial nerd that I am, I patiently waited for a seat to open at the bar, doing my best to stay out of everyone's way. Fortunately, a seat opened up pretty quickly. My bartender was named Kayla I believe. I didn't get to talk to her much, but I heard other people shouting her name and she responded so I'm gonna assume it was her. Anyway, Kayla was very attentive despite all the chaos going on. I had a budweiser bottle (which was ICE cold, frost on the bottle and all that), and three Modelos from the tap which were equally frosty. To eat, I ordered the bacon cheese fries from their late night menu with a side of ranch and a side of buffalo sauce. Lemme tell you about these fries y'all. They were CRISP and STEAMY. Fresh like they'd just sliced the potato up minutes ago just for me. Perfect crisp on those fries and golden brown, and did I mention fresh? My only complaint is that they could stand more seasoning, but that doesn't matter when you're pairing them with their house-made buffalo sauce (that's right, HOUSE MADE y'all) which has just the right amount of heat and a beautiful classic buffalo flavor. It was thinner than I normally like my buffalo sauces to be, but watching it flow over those crispy golden-brown fries as I drizzled it over top was a sensation. And the ranch was thick, rich and creamy with all that ranch goodness you expect. I devoured the plate. When it came time to pay the tab, I was surprised. I expected the bill to be somewhere around $50 for the great experience I had. But it only came out to $30. Both the beer and the fries were very reasonably priced and I left a generous tip for Kayla. I will be back very soon to see what else they offer. read more

I wandered back in on an April Sunday evening, it's been about 4 years since my last visit. Not much has changed really, the same cast of characters and usual suspects. Amanda behind the bar was real nice and friendly. I asked her about the Trivia game, she didn't know what I was talking about. After I explained it to her, she said ' oh, you mean the game board'...ah yeah, OK. They have the old game consoles and it seems like it's no real popular here. I had a cheeseburger and some wings. Not too bad really. Not great, but not bad. I like that they had the grilled old bay dry rub wings. A nice change up from the fried ones. They also have quite a few large HD screens and had the Caps on as well as some NBA games and local news. I have been to Old Towne Sports Pub twice since it became OTSP a few years ago. We went primarily to watch a college football game that was not on regular tv. Both times we were able to get a tv tuned to our game with no problems. The service was excellent both time, even though they were busy (one time we sat at the bar, one time we sat at a table). The food is good. A variety of options beyond just standard bar fare and everything we had was good. My boyfriend had lasagna once, I had a burger, we had nachos another time. Nothing to rave about and run back for, but every dish was a solid dish. read more

We were headed back to DC from a day trip and feeling like wings and beer. We ordered chips and salsa, the steak bacon poppers, and the Cajun style wings. We sat at the bar. The chips at first were very stale, but the server took them away and brought freshly fried ones right away, which were great. The salsa was good and the beer selection was good. I wasn't a big fan of the steak bites but my dining partner liked them with the blue cheese sauce. The Cajun wings were good; I'd order them again. The main event, however, came just before we finished eating. A young woman showed up quite inebriated, with two friends, and sat at the bar right next to us. By her yelling across the bar, and her wearing a bar tee shirt, we couldn't help but learn that she works at the bar and her name is Sam. The bartender served her at least two additional drinks - a beer and a Long Island - while scolding her for having driven to the bar. That bartender's name was Alyssa, based on the yelling. Luckily for other Manassas drivers, Sam's mother showed up to hang out with her and presumably drive her home. Due to Sam's yelling and squealing, we decided not to stick around to find out. It was around 7:30 when we left. A little too drunk to be that early in public....? Mainly, it seemed a shame that the bartenders didn't care enough about their friend to stop her from making a fool of herself in her workplace. read more

I've really only come here for brunch on the weekends so this review is mainly about that. While the food here is not super fancy, it is simple good American food. Their brunch is $13 for all-you-can-eat and here's the ringer, their buffet includes king crab legs. Compared to a place like Captain Pell's these crab legs are basic streamed crab. They can be a little over steamed sometimes but for that price I'm not going to nit pick. The rest of the buffet includes fruit, eggs (ehh), bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, french toast, potato hash (YUM), mac n cheese, prime rib and an bar for custom omelets and waffles. They have some drink specials during brunch as well. $3 Mimosas or a $4 Bloody Mary. Service is pretty good. The staff manning the buffet tables are friendly. I think due to it being a buffet they only have about 4 staff working the floor so sometimes drink refills are a bit slow but its not a big bother. Overall this is a place my friends and I like to go and grab a bite and mow down on some breakfast and crabbies. read more

I'm always looking for new Sunday brunch spots in Manassas for when the family visits. We love Ashton Family Restaurant, but it can often be crowded. And good luck with the usual suspects on Sudley - Denny's, IHOP, Bob Evans, Cracker Barrel - those places are INSANE. Besides, I prefer to eat local over a chain. I love Malone's, but it's too fancy for my dad, who likes "the basics" for breakfast, and loves a good brunch buffet. City Tavern is acceptable, but I was hoping to find something better. I heard that Old Towne Sports Pub has a good Sunday brunch buffet, so my wife and I decided to try it on a whim recently. And keeping with the sports bar theme - it was a score. I think I found my new Sunday brunch spot. Between the bar area and the room where the brunch buffet is set up, there is ample room for large families and brunch crowds. They were not crowded on our visit, but there were a couple of large families who arrived. Sunday brunch at OTSP seemed to be a weekly thing for them. Even the brunch crowd has that "locals bar" vibe, and it seems to be a hangout for firefighters and other county workers. This is definitely not the kind of bar I'd like to hang out at, but it's set up well for brunch, and we were made to feel welcome despite not being a "regular." The brunch buffet spread features your typical fare, with a few options that take it up a notch. The first thing that caught were the snow crab legs. Leftovers from last night's dinner, I thought ... but they kept them coming and coming and coming. It seems like they are a regular staple. I've had better snow crab legs, for sure, but they certainly weren't bad ... especially for a Sunday brunch buffet. The buffet also features the standard omelet and waffle stations, but the waffle station features a twist of its own - chocolate waffles. And they have a carving station with some pretty tasty prime rib. All the breakfast standards are here as well ... bacon, potatoes, eggs, biscuits and gravy, etc. Of those items, the breakfast sausage stood out ... it seemed like more of an Irish/British style breakfast sausage than American. Whatever it was, I loved it. My only complaint is that the coffee was on the buffet, rather than being served fresh from the pot in the back. I'd prefer to have the server manage that and keep tabs on making a fresh pot when needed. But outside of that minor complaint, we were really happy with our meal. Locally owned and operated spacious sports bar off the beaten path but easily accessible with ample parking. The venue is huge inside, boasting 21 flat screen TVs that will surely have whatever game you are looking to watch, a large L-shaped bar that wraps around the entire restaurant, plus plenty of tables and booths even for those busy Saturdays and football Sundays. They have a full bar (seriously I think they have every type of alcohol ready to mix) and are generous with pours and the prices are for once spot on. Who knew you could go right outside of Fairfax and actually afford to spend an evening at the bar and still have a little money leftover in your wallet. The menu has plenty of choices, there's something for everyone but not so much that you can't decide. The beer taps are average and only have a couple local craft brews (fat tire and DB's Vienna lager) but I'm sure they are catering to the crowd that most frequents this lovely neighborhood hangout. Everyone is friendly and welcoming! The staff all have big smiles and are ready to help you out, there's no rush and it's just nice to be there for the first time yet feel like you've been there many times before. So I was looking for a spot to watch the Winter Classic - go Caps! - & chose this place because they answered the phone in a very friendly manner. The entire place does smell faintly of smoke and there is a back room where folks can smoke & looked to have several horse racing video games. They have a great beer selection on tap & a quality liquor selection including Tanqueray, The Glenlivet 18yr, Glenfiddich 12yr, Tullamore Dew 12 yr, Makers, etc. I sat at the bar where Katie served me & she is just as sweet as can be. She took the time to welcome me & explain the specials all in between serving a full bar or thirsty patrons. I never once saw her get "in the weeds" she even served a table or two when needed. The other server - a red haired gal who's name I did not get - also seemed very nice & was quick with a smile; her tables all seemed happy. Rounding up the floor crew was Bruce who I think was a manger but was not above being bar back or pouring a few when needed. Lots of TVs & a raised platform with 3 stuffed chairs. Apparently during NFL games they raffle these seats of for the best seat in the house & proceeds go to charities in the area. Pretty cool! I was there to drink & watch hockey so I can't say much on the food. I did eat a soft pretzel which was very good. All the food I saw come out looked & smelled really good. They don't have pitchers but do offer a "beer tower" it looked fun & I would like to try one when I'm out with some friends. The crowd was varied & boisterous in a good way, the way sports bars should be. There wasn't as much cheering on of the Caps as I would like to see but, I think lots of folks where trying to quiet the pains of bidding 2014 adieu. My only complaint was the bathroom was a bit ramshackle, only one toilet & one urinal so I imagine lines can form. Also someone must have had a heck of a poop because the walls to the toilet stall were coming off the concrete wall. All three screws securing it were fully pulled from their anchors. There was a TV above the sinks so you won't miss that important play if you can't wait for a commercial. read more
