After dealing with potentially ingrown toenails on both big toes for months, I finally decided it was time to see a podiatrist for help. I picked Columbus Podiatry based on location and reviews and I wasn't disappointed! Dr. Cwynar saw me, suggested a procedure to relieve my pain, and treated me/performed the procedure on the same day. He did a great job - I didn't feel a thing after he numbed my toes and he got it done quickly. I just had my recheck today and my toes are looking good and healing like they should be! And did I mention this guy is a jokester? He's got a great sense of humor, which made both appointments all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place. read more

TLDR version: diagnosed with orthotics by the assistant even before seeing the provider, provider 15 minutes late stayed less than seven minutes with me, did not feel heard as a patient. Long version: I was very disappointed with my visit to Columbus podiatry and surgery. I liked that I was able to fill out my paperwork online so I would not have to arrive 30 minutes early. I did arrive about 10 minutes before my 9 AM appointment and was taken back immediately. After intake was complete I was put in a room and advised to wait for the provider. A few minutes later, the assistant came in with orthotics and said he's more than likely gonna recommend orthotics for for you. We have some for sale here or we can go through your insurance. (keep in mind. I had not seen the provider yet and had already been diagnosed with needing orthotics.). About 9:10 or so the receptionist comes in and tells me the provider is stuck in traffic and would be another 10 minutes or so. I appreciate that they kept me up-to-date as to what was going on. When the provider arrived, we spent less than seven minutes talking about what was going on with my feet. The provider only glanced at my feet. Ask me where my pain was, and then immediately said You need orthotics. I do not feel that what I was experiencing was taken seriously. I felt he barely even touched on what was going on with me and didn't even look at my feet to see if there was anything else he could notice. I did have an ingrown toenail and he said he would have to schedule it out. I said while I'm off this week, so could we do it this week. He seemed reluctant, but said he would check with the scheduler. After the provider left a minute or so later, the scheduler came in with consent forms for the ingrown toenail and said he recommends orthotics . I did really feel devastated that the only thing it seemed they were interested in was selling me orthotics and not talking to me about how to better care for my feet or recommendations other than orthotics. I didn't want surgery, but being told I need orthotics before you see the provider did not make me feel valued. read more

Dr Block lied about the surgery, NO explanation of post-care, nor did he advise me that I would need nursing care at home for 5 months. He is very difficult to communicate with said nothing about what I could expect post-surgery, like Physical Therapy, I had asked a nurse where do I go for PT since he said nothing. The PT was in the same building, it was not a match with the PT. I asked for a prescription to go elsewhere, he refused. Since he refused to complete the PT which is his responsibility, I saw in another review that he might not have a medical license. STAY CLEAR read more

Wonderful doctor and practice!! I called before office hours about my painful ankle. I immediately received a text that said they received my call and would get back to me when their office opened. That is the first time I've ever had a doctor get back to me that quickly and it was really helpful that I knew they received my request. They were able to get me in the same day I called which was really helpful because my ankle was really painful. They did 3 x-rays, put me in a boot, and set me up for an MRI. The other doctor I was going to see couldn't even get me in for 2 weeks! I"ll be cancelling that appointment. I'd rather go to this doctor since they specialize in podiatry. I was suffering from an ingrown toenail. The Doctor was phenomenal. However, when injecting me with the numbing agent the nurse decided to go all in instantly which resulted in excruciating pain for what felt like forever. I have had an ingrown toenail procedure prior to this and know for a fact that it is not necessary to inject it all instantly. The previous doctor did the injection himself and did it in small steps. This prevented the excruciating pain that i went through last Thursday. Perhaps some training is in order for the nurse who injects the patients for this procedure. It is important to give a little numbing agent then pause for approx. 4-5 seconds. Then give a little more and pause again. If this measure is followed it will result in FAR less pain to the patient. And, again, the only reason I know this is due to the fact I had been through this exact procedure prior to this visit. If it wasn't for this small but VERY MEMORABLE part, I would have given 5 stars with no hesitation. Otherwise the whole office experience was perfect. read more

Actually if I could I would put it at 2.5. I went in for pain in heel and tendons, got xrays and ultrasound and was told it was all inflamed. A cortisone shot was suggested along with orthotics which they sold - not the kind you get measured for but pre-made ones. Got the first shot and the inserts and for a week my foot and leg were good to go but then back to pain. Got the second shot but it only made we feel better for a couple of days. Based on diminishing returns I opted to not have any more even though the doctor swore the amount in the injections was safe and where did I read that cortisone shots could be problematic; did I read it in a medical journal or just the internet? No other treatments were given but some suggested included PT and a couple hundred dollars injection that wasn't paid for by my insurance. I was still in pain and I didn't feel he was really listening to my concerns and worries so I will not be going back. read more

Was searching for a podiatrist and stumbled across this practice.. Appointment was today with Dr Abshier she was fantastic took time to explain answer my questions and just made me feel at ease. I went to Columbus Podiatry & Surgery, Inc. I went for the first time and saw Dr. Block. He suggested all I needed was to get the inserts for my shoes and wear it for a month. He then had his staff scheduled me to come back for a follow up and I did. They called my name and took me into the examining room. I waited and waited and Dr. Block came in and the first thing he said to me. Why are you here? I responded you scheduled me for a follow up and I then told him the inserts didn't do any good for my pain. He then sugguested for me to try another pairs and I did. I asked him what if the new pair won't help. He said the same thing as when I got the first pair that if they don't do the job, he will send them back to the manurfacture and have them costume at no charge. Keep in mind these are expensive ranges $300 plus per pair. Again, they scheduled me to come back a month later while my feet are still in pain. I called the office and ask if there's anything he can do. He then wrote a presciption for me to get some compound to help with the pain. Again, I tried but it's still didn't work. Again I called his office. I was told that someone will get back with me and no one did. I've talked to the staff about it and I was told someone will get back with me but once again no one did. I've call 7 times in the past 3 months and got the same story. Then they sent me a letter saying that they release me from their practice. So once again I call about the inserts if they were going to do anything about. I was told by the staff to get a new foot doctor and have them to alter the inserts for me. I told her how does what work? I can't bring them to a new foot doctor and have them do that because I didn't purchase them at the new place. It's like telling me to return or exchange something I bought at Macy's and return to Saks fifth Ave. Then she hung up on me. I kept calling back and no one pickup the phone. It went to their voice mail. I will never ever recommend this place to any one. Read other posting on here about their experience and about Dr. Block. read more

I had been suffering from flat feet for many years, and was referred to this place. After being in pain all day, getting lost and managing to fit my car in the tiny parking lot, I was already exhausted upon arrival. Place was tiny, rundown and the staff didn't seem too cheery. I was given x-rays for my feet, for both the flatness and a fractured left toe I was still nursing after a month. The x-ray machine looked like something from the Fred Flintstone era, which already made me uneasy. My x-rays were not taken the same way/direction or accuracy and angles that which I received at Mt. Carmel. I had to isolate my toe with a rubber band and contort in many directions for them to truly get a grasp of where the fracture was. Here, I just stood there and then rotated the other way. Sure enough, my entire visit (which lasted no longer than 5 minutes, if that), my toe was never brought up--not even to explain changes, healing, etc. They completely ignored bringing up the x-rays. My mother chimed in and wanted to know about the x-rays, and the assistants kind of gave that doe-eyed look, confused. One girl finally muttered that if they had seen it was broken they would've said something. Firstly, broken or not, you say something, because that is the job to be thorough with your patient. Covering all bases--good or bad, result-wise--is key. Secondly, the lack of proper x-rays is not going to reflect a fracture. The experience, advancement and time taken for x-rays at Mt Carmel showed a fracture for a reason. This place did not, because of the half-hazard job. If that wasn't annoying enough, the "doctor" stepped in and told me to take off my shoes, had me stand up and then simply told me I had pancake feet, took his shoes off and showed me his. Huh? Using himself as a selling tool (and yes, he was very salesman pitch-like) he swore up and down about the "special" inserts he uses, and how his quality of life is great, due to them. My mother and I literally could not interject to get a word in, because he rambled the entire time. I wasn't sure if the place was a medical facility or a car lot. I noticed, by the way, another reviewer on here being quipped at by the doctor about where she got her info from (off the internet?), basically belittling the client. I mention this because the doc has a cartoon/sign attached to the one wall, mocking any customer who questions the doc, gets charged more, or something to that effect Really? As if a client doesn't have the right to question you? How disrespectful is that? A client has the absolute right to ask questions, be concerned and bounce info, etc., back and forth with the doctor. Sad part is you can't even get a word in with the guy; he completely talks over you. However, because I was so exhausted and in pain, I wanted to at least give the "custom-made" inserts a try, and they scanned my foot. Upon checkout, they screwed up my down payment, so had to redo it. Hopefully, I don't get double-charged...I still never had anyone come up to me regarding my foot, so I about had it. Not one single thing was mentioned about my x-rays. It was a basic 5th grade "take off your shoes and lemme see those feet" operation there. Wow. I got a call down the road that my inserts were in, and they wanted to know when I can come in. The weather was garbage, so I couldn't drive all the way out there just yet. The lady noted I could take my time--no rush--and to call when I can come in. Two days later I get a 2nd lady calling and wanting to know if I'd come in. Clearly, the 1st lady and 2nd lady didn't communicate. I explained that I already got a call that the inserts were in. She wanted to know if I'd come in, and I told her that the roads were bad where I lived. I mentioned my location and she snidely mentioned that she lived out there, too and it "wasn't that bad," as if to challenge me. I snipped back that I drive a rear-wheel drive car (and besides, just because a person lives in the same area as you, doesn't mean their streets mimic your streets, in terms of being cleared up to drive!). She became quiet on the phone, and I told her that I'd get there when I can get there. She just replies, "OK." Later, I was able to get another car and "get this over with," so I called them back and let them know I'd make it there that day. Upon arrival (and yes, I was DONE with this shabby place), they just pulled me in, asst hands me the inserts, has me take my shoes off and place them in. No comments, no questions--nothing. She then quickly hands me a form to sign and then I am out the door. I wasn't asked "How do they feel?" or "We'll call you to see how they're helping you!" and so on. The most substandard offering of thoroughness and communication I've ever experienced in a "medical" place; never going back. (I'd say more, but I am out of room.) read more

Incredibly ridiculous billing department. I went for an x-ray for a suspected broken toe in June 2019. 18 months later I received a bill for the patient responsibility portion of my service. I called and explained that my HRA card provided by my employer would not cover something that was billed so far in arrears. I was told the gentleman would refer the issue to a supervisor. Dr. Block and his staff were really great! It has been awhile since I have seen a doctor that really seems like they care and talks with the patient in a kind and caring way. He was personable and made my daughter feel so much better about the procedure she needed on her toe. This practice scheduled surgeries for a doctor that was not cleared to perform surgeries from the insurance companies. I was not informed of this when I had a consultation and scheduled my surgery. I called a week before my scheduled surgery and was told sorry someone was supposed to call but didn't. I would not trust anyone in this office to perform a pedicure! Very shady, please use any other podiatrist in the Columbus area! Dr Alan Block did not say one word about a potential insurance issue. Completely incompetent! read more
